Hi everyone. How we all doing

I’m going to do an OPK I think in half an hour ( been holding it for 2 hours to do one) will be my first OPK of this cycle also starting BBT in the morning. Could someone explain that too me also as every site I’ve been on on google has different temperatures for the same thing and it’s confusing me 😂 also do people find BBT helpful?

I only had a 3 day bleed (1st - 3rd) and nothing since but feel a bit crampy today so not holding out for much this cycle with only having a withdrawal bleed and no signs of a proper period returning yet

Dex1521 · 06/12/2020 16:52

@GreenApplesYo omg how exciting you must be so pleased!! So happy for you xx

AMS19 · 06/12/2020 17:17

Hi @Dex1521 what do you mean different temps? So BBT tracking is taking your temp at the same time every morning, e.g. 6am. You have to take it as soon as you wake up, you can't even sit up. Then you are looking for a pattern (it doesn't matter at all what your temps are). After ovulation your temp will start to rise, that is now you know you've ovated. So everything now is just to get a baseline. Doss that make sense? Happy to share my chart again if helpful

GreenApplesYo · 06/12/2020 17:19

@AMS19 @Dex1521 aww thank you. Yeah definitely reassuring. I keep getting this shooting/burning pain on my left side which the midwife said sounded like ligament pain... I wasn't overly anxious about it as it wasn't getting worse, but it was playing on my mind, definitely nice to have ectopic ruled out. DP really happy which is cute. Still going to wait until the 12wk before telling people, but it's good knowing that things are fine atm and that the risk of something going wrong is already much less than it was a few weeks ago.

How are you feeling @AMS19?

@Dex1521 yeh I found bbt great as it showed I had ovulated, you don't get that reassurance with any other method. The OPKs show you probably will but not that it happened for sure. Don't worry about other people's temps too much, it's about finding your own pattern. E.g before ov your temps might be 36.1 - 36.3 and after 36.7 - 39.0. But it could also be 35.6 - 36.0 before and then 36.4 - 36.7 after. Just as long as the basic pattern is low before ov and higher after then you're OK. Is that what you were asking?

Dex1521 · 06/12/2020 17:27

@AMS19 @GreenApplesYo yes that’s what I meant lol for some reason I thought it had to be between certain temps like before and after ovulation for everyone so glad you’ve cleared that up for me definitely haven’t a blonde moment lol. Got the thermometer beside the bed so will do it as soon as I wake up then and create a baseline for myself

Took an OPK very faint line reading at 0.13 and a bit of sticky CM too on the toilet paper so hopefully goes up from this 🤞

AMS19 · 06/12/2020 17:35

@Dex1521 my baseline temp was really high, higher than most peoples post ovulation temps. But it really doesn't matter, it is all about the pattern. You want the second half of your chart to have higher temps than the first half. Fertility friend will only add the red Cross hairs once you've had three continuous higher temps, that is when ovulation is confirmed!

@GreenApplesYo is your 12 week scan before Xmas? I have my private scan on 21st Dec and if all goes well I'm going to tell my mum and brother Xmas day, but no one else until the 12 week scan, which is mid Jan!

OP posts:
GreenApplesYo · 06/12/2020 17:45

@AMS19 no, sadly it's on the 4th Jan and will be more like 13wks. Dp and I just spending Xmas together this year because of covid complications, will be seeing family on zoom so easy enough to dodge questions about not drinking. If I was going to see my family I'd definitely have to come clean though haha. We're quite boozy at Xmas, everyone would guess.

Would rather wait until we know the 12wk tests for downs etc are all OK as I know my Mum is going to be beside herself with joy when I tell her and I wouldn't want to risk making her sad if things aren't ok.

Really hope your private scan on the 12st goes well. I'm going to be so happy once I've got the 12wk scan out the way and I can just tell everyone. And relax more too.

Bells20 · 06/12/2020 17:52

@GreenApplesYo that is amazing to see! What a fab scan picture, I bet it's so reassuring to know everything is ok! So happy for you!

I've booked an early scan for 23rd December when I'll be 6+4 so hopefully that's late enough to see something and hopefully a good heartbeat too, that'll make me feel more confident about telling my parents at Christmas. It just doesn't feel real at all at the moment so I definitely think having a scan will help it sink in!

@Dex1521 was this your withdrawal bleed? Mine was a really short too! good luck with temping! Defo just keep it by your bed and make sure you've got an alarm set to make sure it's at the same time every day. It's really great when you see those temps rise after ovulation!

Dex1521 · 06/12/2020 17:56

Yeah it was my withdrawal bleed. Really short and really heavy. My OH kept joking that there would be bloody bubbling from under the doors like a horror movie when I told him it had arrived. I wasn’t impressed...

Wil do that usually get up at 7am but going to set an alarm to make sure now

GreenApplesYo · 06/12/2020 18:28

Hehe thanks @bells20 know what you mean about it not feeling real. I think the scan should help with that. It did feel amazing when it appeared on the screen.

@Dex1521 great you're in a new cycle now, hopefully this is the one!

AMS19 · 06/12/2020 18:29

@GreenApplesYo yeah I really wish I could wait until 12 weeks as I'm in the same position. My mum will absolutely lose her mind, she is desperate for a grandchild. But if I don't drink at Xmas it will be obvious. So I just have to pray nothing goes wrong. If there are absolutely any concerns at all with the private scan I won't tell her and will have to hide the fact I'm drinking alcohol free wine!

OP posts:
AMS19 · 06/12/2020 18:33

@Bells20 where are you going for your private scan?

OP posts:
GreenApplesYo · 06/12/2020 18:46

@AMS19 it actually makes me quite glad to be having a quiet Xmas. I'll miss my family, but I definitely would have had to tell them if I'd been there. I think my Mum has way worse baby mania than me, she'd be totally invested. She's already adopted random kids from her village, they're like honorary grandkids. They go over to play and the littlest one calls my Mum 'my Julie'.

I did see a table in a book showing the miscarriage risk week by week to 12wks. By 9wks it's already gone down loads... and the risk of downs etc is low anyway?

I keep having to remind myself that it's more likely everything will be fine!

AMS19 · 06/12/2020 18:52

@GreenApplesYo yeah im pretty sure it is like 2% or less at 9 weeks with a heartbeat? Hmmm I dunno. I'll just see how I feel after the scan i think. If I have any doubts I'll try blag my way through with alcohol free Nosecco and wine. I'm hosting so it is definitely possible. My flat is all open plan though so not sure how I'll manage the logistics. But I could make it work....

OP posts:
GreenApplesYo · 06/12/2020 19:06

Ohh hosting is fun! I did that last year and I did enjoy being in charge mwahaha! I'm joking (mainly), it was very chilled. The table I saw said 4% but I am very happy to go with your 2% 🙂

Hopefully your next scan will be properly reassuring and you'll feel confident sharing the news 🤞

What's everyone else up to for Xmas by the way? 🙂

AMS19 · 06/12/2020 20:20

Ah @GreenApplesYo maybe I was thinking of 10 weeks then! I should have been nearly 10 when I had my scan, but baby is measuring a week behind, so I've reset my dates to align to baby. Maybe it will catch up and I'll be back to being 9+5 at the scan🤞🤞

OP posts:
Foxl2222 · 07/12/2020 07:34

Aww @GreenApplesYo that scan pic is amazing! Must have felt so reassuring to see that :)

@Dex1521 I think I'm with you in the BBT thing for next cycle. Always thought it seemed to confusing but would like to know for sure if I've ovulated.

I'm 12dpo today, still no symptoms and 2 BFN frers Saturday and Sunday. Af due Wednesday so will hold out for that now but not looking good. Xx

Dex1521 · 07/12/2020 07:39

@Foxl2222 I’ve just done by bbt it was 36.44degrees but all night I kept waking up thinking it was time to do it or that I’d missed my alarm was such a restless night lol hopefully over time I get more relaxed doing it and it’s just like second nature or else it’s not going to be accurate I don’t think

Bells20 · 07/12/2020 08:34

@AMS19 there's a private clinic near Canary Wharf that I'm going to go to. Where did you book yours?

@Dex1521 I did have that occasionally, particularly while I was waiting for it to confirm ovulation had happened, the anxiety got to me haha but I just took the reading anyway and thought it might not be 100-% accurate and it did settle down over time.

@Foxl2222 fingers crossed for you! 🤞🤞

GreenApplesYo · 07/12/2020 08:45

@Dex1521 I did that the first few nights as well. Waking up at 3am and then 4am etc to see if it was time. I settled down to it, although I did wake up in the middle of the night at ov time as well. It didn't throw off the overall pattern in the end 🙂

@foxl2222 thanks 😊yeh really great to see the little heartbeat! Haven't had awful symptoms - which is lucky - but did also make me a little paranoid. Definitely recommend a scan if like me you're prone to over thinking!

AMS19 · 07/12/2020 09:30

@bells20 ah I looked at that one. We decided on window to the womb in the end in Bexleyheath. It is only 15 minute drive and I didnt fancy going through the Blackwell tunnel (and wasn't sure if the clipper would be back up and running!). Let me know how it is though!

@greenapplesyo my nausea has been a lot better the last 2 days which is somewhat annoying as I quite liked the reassurance. My rhr has also dipped a bit. Trying to focus that hopefully it is my body adjusting and the placenta taking over which it should be doing at week 8 🤞🤞 honestly I find the worry absolutely draining! 🙄

OP posts:
Dex1521 · 07/12/2020 11:25

Done another OPK today and it’s looking good. Still low obviously as I’m predicted to ovulate in 13 days but it’s jumped a good bit from last night to today. Going to start taking them regularly around 11:30 to keep consistency now

GreenApplesYo · 07/12/2020 12:22

@Dex1521 good to see the progress there 🙂hope the 13 day countdown goes well

@AMS19 I've felt progressively less sick over the last couple of weeks. It did make me wonder if everything is OK but turns out it was. Week 6/7 I was queasy all the time but then wk 8 was more on and off, I'd say it is more off than on now. So I think it's normal for it to fluctuate/taper off.

Really hard I know, but I think the best thing to do is assume it's alright and stay away from Google 🙂🙂Unless you are doubled over in pain and bleeding then chances are everything is alright. At least that's what I keep telling myself!

jessi60 · 07/12/2020 13:11

So I’m CD 32 with a 28 day cycle normally. So four days late, did a test last night which was negative. I had a second opk peak last month which if I was basing it off the second one would place me on 11 DPO instead of being late for af.

At this point I just want af to show cause now I’m scared I’m going to start having stupidly long cycles 😢 Xx
