@MgW1 @Overlyanxious @anon0704 it is extremely common for periods to change completely post MC for many many women. They often change in length, regularity and level of flow. It’s not helpful given that we try and understand and learn about our cycles to help us indicate when to TTC etc, but it’s completely common for it to change. Hopefully that’s reassuring.

Cramps throughout the month is not something I have heard of post MC - I would for sure recommend seeing a medical professional for that. Although, we do become more aware and attuned to our bodies so maybe you are now more aware of these - ovulation cramp, period cramp & potential implantation cramp....I guess all in all, it could feel like cramping for the majority of the cycle but with nothing untoward.

Xxx

anon0704 · 17/11/2020 14:05

Yeah, I would say getting advice if you're cramping throughout the month. That doesn't sound good :-/

MgW1 · 17/11/2020 14:06

@HappyVibes
I am deffo more in tuned with my body now. Didnt get chance before because got preg really quick
. I have 1 day spotting , 2 really heavy days ( have to make sure im working from home) a normal day and then 1 - 2 days spotting again. Im on cd 13 now and having a few pre ovulation niggles on one side. So il see what next cycle is like and then speak with g.p. hopefully if i were to say its making me worry then they would refer me for a pelvic scan xx

2020wish · 17/11/2020 14:10

@HappyVibes none. Everything the GP did came back normal(no RMC through covid )But with blood clotting factors, the issue is that our blood coagulation changes constantly and it is known that when we become pregnant our blood ‘thickens’ normally. So the thought process is that with a small dose of aspirin it keeps our blood just thin enough to let the blood pass through those tiny blood vessels and give a good blood supply to the developing pregnancy. And with the dose only being low (150mg is standard uk guidelines ) it won’t do any harm regardless if it’s ur issue for continuous losses or not. (Obviously except in cases with u may be contradicted to use aspirin ).

I’ll also point on my mum had all 4 of her kids in her early 20s with no issues but for some reason kept MCing in her 30s and no issue found; it wasn’t until she was nearly 40 and through other health issues they realised she had a slight blood clotting disorder which now could be the seen as the reason for those losses.

I don’t my own research on it and being a nurse myself and talking to my doctor I decided to commence myself on it at 3dpo. Thankfully I got to my 6 week scan and the midwife suggested aspirin, to which I told her I was already on: then at my 12 week scan my consultation also suggested aspirin and was pleased to know I was already on it: and I’ve been told to continue on it until my 36/37 weeks. I believe it’s carried this pregnancy for me

MgW1 · 17/11/2020 14:13

@HappyVibes
P.s the pregnacare pre conception have made me a bit constipated (= cramping) so drinking lots and taking fibogel !! Sorry if tmi!!!
Il see this month through - recording everything on my app and will then discuss with g.p
It doesnt help that its all done over the bloody phone!!!! X

HappyVibes · 17/11/2020 14:13

Thanks @2020wish that’s really interesting and helpful for me to understand some of my blood work results. We have had four losses now so I’m trying to get to understand every factor of what possibly could be, so that I can ask the consultant next month xxx

2020wish · 17/11/2020 15:39

@HappyVibes it is worth looking into esp if everything is coming back normal. Even asking on here in the miscarriage forums u will find a lot of women standing by aspirin. Fingers crossed for ur sticky bean soon x

Sallyjo27 · 17/11/2020 17:28

Thank you all! So nervous I can’t get excited yet.

@2020wish I’ve been told to take aspirin from 6 weeks but so tempted to take it now... I’ve read so many good things about it. I am having cyclogest pessaries though, I’m just waiting to order them through the clinic tomorrow as my GP wouldn’t prescribe them for me 🙄😩

Bellabubble · 17/11/2020 18:19

@2020wish I’m currently in the waiting stage of my 2nd mmc - but obviously as we tend to - have leapt to the worst case scenarios and I’m already panicking that oh and I have some genetic incompatibility, or genetic cause (my Dr had started fertility tests so I know my 21 day bloods were fine, and they checked my TSH, which said my thyroid was fine) but I’m wondering whether to try asprin when I finally get to my next tww.

I’m a bit stuck - last timr my body started the process naturally. I’m currently considering options - I have to choose between medical management, or D&C or MVA - if anyone is happy to - could you possibly share your experience with me? You can also inbox me if you would prefer. I think my last resort is D&C as I don’t do well with general anaesthetic!

Bellabubble · 17/11/2020 18:20

@Sallyjo27 huge congratulations - I’m crossing everything for you! Are you with an early pregnancy support team at all?

Sallyjo27 · 17/11/2020 18:23

@Bellabubble no I’m not there’s no support here from the nhs at all! I haven’t rang the community midwives yet though. There is a EPU in my local hospital though when I rang previously when I was bleeding in my 3rd miscarriage they wouldn’t see me x

Sully84 · 17/11/2020 19:11

Hi all, I haven’t posted in quite a while but been following the thread.

Regarding periods post MC I have definitely had more painful periods, and I had months where it was painful from two weeks into my cycle until I got my period. I started thinking I might have endometriosis as I was getting pains in my ribs, shooting pains in my legs and pain where all I could do was lay down with a hot water bottle until it passed. However it’s now been a year since my MC and past couple of months the period pain is back to pre MC so maybe it is starting to settle a bit. Length of cycle has varied too.

Anyway congrats to all those who have had BFP and hoping there are many more to come for everyone else.

I decided to see an acupuncturist today. Didn’t end up having treatment today as she plans to start a week before AF due but after having a really in-depth chat and a massive cry she has come up with a 3 month plan for me. A lot has happened personally in my life in the past four years so it’s likely the biggest factor affecting me is stress, so the acupuncturist is going to focus on reducing my stress and getting my cycles back to a normal pattern. As part of it I have decided to step back from all things TTC, so ditching the OPKs, early pregnancy tests, ditching dr google, going to only do the deed when we both feel like and because we want to rather than we need to. Will continue to take vitamins but apart from that I’ve decided the next three months are just about focusing on me and improving my state of mind if I can. I know I will still be thinking could I be pregnant leading up to my AF but hopefully a little less obsessed on it.
So with that in mind I am going to take a step back even more from mumsnet. Much love to all of you ❤️

Furbsies · 17/11/2020 20:27

Hey all. Any one with inositol experience. My AF has gone significantly lighter since I've had it. And I'm quite surprised by it. Cramps are also under control idk if this means hormonal imbalance is getting balanced... I have pcos BTW and before this I used to have very heavy flow.

re6ecca · 18/11/2020 10:37

Hi ladies, I haven't been around for a while after my 5+5 loss in Oct, 3rd mc of the year :(
I'm feeling truly hopeless but here we are at 7pdo

HappyVibes · 18/11/2020 12:39

Good luck with your TWW @re6ecca Only a little longer to hold out. Sending you lots of baby dust 💫

MgW1 · 18/11/2020 13:07

@Sully84
Hi thats how I am! Thanks for your post its reassuring to hear yours has settled down. I have googled alsortd and thought what am i doing?! 🙈 when did you start TTC post mc? Xx

MgW1 · 18/11/2020 13:11

@Sully84
P.s have you looked at chasterberry/ holland & barret Agnus cactus - good reviews for varied cycles. Xx

Sully84 · 18/11/2020 14:03

Hey @MgW1, I had to have the surgical procedure as the bleeding never stopped on its own, after that we didn’t wait and started TTC as soon as the post surgery bleeding stopped and I got a negative pregnancy test.

I’ve used Agnes cactus for some months, I usually take it from day 1 up until I ovulate, sure it does help somewhat and when I fell pregnant with my second child the first month I took it was when I fell pregnant with him, maybe a coincidence or maybe it helped. X

MgW1 · 18/11/2020 14:46

@Sully84
I still dont think my hormones are right post mc. I get no ewcm but started taking evening primrose this month to see if it helps. Will try agnus cactus i think next month - im having dec off though ttc if i get a negative this month. Gona book a few hang overs in!!! 🤪 xx

MSG92 · 19/11/2020 06:17

Sorry for the early message everyone, but I've been woken up by stomach pains. They've been going on all night, since I went to bed, they are central in my stomach, quite low down, nothing unbearable but consistent, every now and then it feels like a bubbly feeling of that makes sense. I am getting so anxious that this is another MC after the one in August.

I can't go anywhere due to DH's positive test and I'm now waiting for my test which is arriving today. I know pains in early pregnancy are common but not if they last this long... Any advice ore even reassurance. I can't lose this one, I don't know what I'd do

MgW1 · 19/11/2020 07:14

@MSG92
Is it similar to previous mc cramps ? Are the low down? Round ligament pain is more central and normal in pregnancy but more so in early pregnancy. Do you have any other pregnancy symptoms ? Xx

MgW1 · 19/11/2020 07:19

@MSG92
Could it be constipation? Sorry ... just thought id ask because i suffered badly with it from 4 week in pregnancy. Have you had more than 1 miscarriage ? Or more ? I hope things are ok xx

susiebluebell · 19/11/2020 07:27

@MSG92 I can imagine you are very anxious but yes pains and funny feelings are common. Unless you're bleeding, I wouldn't think there was cause for immediate concern. Are you in contact with an EPU/midwife? Could you phone them? - even if they can't see you, a professional opinion would put your mind at rest.

I'll be thinking of you today xx

HappyVibes · 19/11/2020 07:44

@MSG92 good morning lovely. I can fully imagine how that must feel with worry from your previous experience. I quite often had twinges and cramping in my early pregnancy, I think when I read about it (if I remember correctly), that it is the area getting ready to expand and also all the early pregnancy hormones.

If you want reassurance, maybe ring EPU, and book an early scan. At this stage I fully understand why you would worry at the slightest thing. From what you’ve said and my experience, and previous research, unless there is bleeding, it doesn’t sound anything sinister lovely. 💫💓

MSG92 · 19/11/2020 07:44

@MgW1 and @susiebluebell

Tbh I didn't get bad cramps last time, it was so quick. Yes fairly low but middle. My boobs are a little sore but only if pressed, I have a stinking cold atm so I have headaches etc. It could be, I've had wind a lot, been burping more than normal. Pains are still here now... I've had one MC in August.

I have a midwife, not had any appts or anything yet as so early. I'm gonna get up, have a coffee and sit down at the table for a bit to start work and see what happens. It doesn't help that I feel generally unwell!
