@Kirky658 I shall have a look, need to get some nice leggings that are black too🤣 I have seen them yeah! I keep contemplating do I want to pay £97 for it though 🙈

@Katao ooo yeah that's true! I'm just the kind of person who lets everything overwhelm me and then its too late and I just give up until another day when I think ooo. My problem is I don't eat shit, I just eat what I've always eaten. Always loads of fruit and veg so I just don't know what else I can do 🙈

Minster2012 · 27/10/2020 15:36

Also I chopped up the squash to make cooking time less and did it on lower heat

Juno231 · 27/10/2020 15:36

@vil10 then again I'm doing intermittent fasting and that is exactly the opposite of what the PT said lol. Everything is conflicting!

As for food - I don't eat breakfast. I usually meal prep on Sundays for lunches for the week (so things like kofte and tabbouleh, stews, chillis etc) and dinners tend to be a mix of hellofresh meals and a boring rotation of dinners I like to make. E.g. tonight is www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/zesty-haddock-crushed-potatoes-peas

and yesterday for dinner we had:
www.hellofresh.co.uk/recipes/chicken-fried-rice-chat-5f59facb3e7ac001325be7ae

I guess @lucyrp unless you're using scales you could easily be underestimating the calories? Ooor this ties in with PCOS theory? Hormonal problems could make weight loss a lot more difficult.

@Minster2012 thank you! Sounds delicious 😃 we aren't big meat eaters here so like vegetarian meals. I love Jamie Oliver's cauliflower mac and cheese

Juno231 · 27/10/2020 15:37

Also wouldn't a waterproof jacket for running trap heat and make you sweat like mofo?

OP posts:
lucyrp · 27/10/2020 15:38

@Juno231 I do weigh most things yes, I didn't struggle losing the stone above what I am now🙈

Vil10 · 27/10/2020 15:56

@lucyrp whaaat so you pay per month what I pay for 6 months!! And those pts!! That's a joke!! I was like that, didn't want to eat bread in case it bloated me but it fills me up and doesn't bloat me so happy days! Hahaha my OH always complains when I don't get "good snacks in" but he always tells me to get healthy ones so he doesn't get fat😂 that's crazy, I'm not surprised you only go once with it being that far away!! That would drive me mad!

@Katao ohh yeah I've done something like that before! Only ate between 12-8! That's the same as me, my meals are always healthy but if I'm off track my snacking is so bad, especially at night!

@Minster2012 I love all carbs! Hahaha there's just no pleasing them sometimes is there! I give my OH a portion and he says it's too small, day after I give him a bigger one and I get "jeez are you trying to fatten me up"🙄 he's bulking now though for winter so that'll be double the amount of food he'll be needing for tea!

@Juno231 mmm I love a good stew and chilli!! I've always wondered about hello fresh! Is it worth getting??

2alreadywantanother · 27/10/2020 16:05

I love carbs, theres not a lot o ear but the carbs kill me. Bread and potatoes. Really need to get my arse on gear, to busy feeling sorry on myself and eating the bit out. I'm heavier now than when I was pregnant 😢

Af is definitely nearby. Rhr has started to finally drop. Slight staining when wiping. So hopefully here by tomorrow or thurs.
Then I'll start monitoring bbt.
Kids back to school next wk (I hope) so will get back out walking and back dieting.

Hope ur all well. Sorry skipped over posts, I try and check.in at least 2/3 times a day but 4+ pages I just get lost and can't remember who to reply to lol

Nice hot stew on the menu here today. Warm the DH coming on from the cold.

lucyrp · 27/10/2020 16:05

@Vil10 oh and I forgot there's a joining fee to which is £20🤣 yep pretty much! He said if have to pay £50 to figure out what we needed to do, then £50 after for something else and then another £50 then they'd sort out the rest of the pricing and I was like umm no. I don't really have much time in the morning either with DS and going to meet my mum then getting to work for 9. My OH will literally take an Apple, an orange and a banan for his dinner to work and that's it 😂 I think I'm going to start prepping lunch box stuff at the start of the week for both of us so its easy to grab in the morning. There is a closer supermarket to us but its still 20 minutes away we have aldi and tesco and I find aldi fruit and veg is rubbish and Tesco's is just extortionate so I go to Sainsbury's 🤣 would rather spend money on nice stuff

Juno231 · 27/10/2020 16:20

@vil10 I really like hellofresh tbh! It gets me out of a rut because they do dishes I wouldn't think of doing normally - yet are yummy. Price wise I think they're decent as I can usually get some kind of discount or free box offering. Full price though I get dinner for 2 people for 5 days for £42 which I think is pretty good when it also saves me meal planning, grocery shopping and the prep is really easy!

notyetamumbuttrying · 27/10/2020 16:32

@Juno231 funny you mention hello fresh, we've just got bk into mindful chef as theirs are usually low carb dishes. Had a nice lentil and tomato stew type thing last night. Might go for the chicken teriyaki tonight or they've got this cauliflower curry thing we could try too. We got 4 dishes for this week so at least weekday dinners are sorted. I just gotta stop eating sandwiches, crisps and chocolate at lunch now 🙈 oh and actually do some exercise. Not just walking to the corner shop and back 😬

Minster2012 · 27/10/2020 16:33

Oooo @Juno231 those hello fresh ones look lovely

Sausage1990 · 27/10/2020 16:47

@lucyrp I'm a dietitian 👋🏻 maybe I can help??

Typically diet wise I would say calorie counting has mixed results, as someone's already said, the human body is a complex machine and doesn't always behave as one would expect. Eating regularly does help though.

When we skip meals or go long times between foods regularly - I'm talking for years, not as a short intervention for weight loss like intermittent fasting - the body doesn't exactly turn food into fat (it's not quite that straight forward) it's more that the body doesn't let you loose weight easily because it's not sure when the next food will come. Our bodies are still very primal and if you think about cave man times we had times of feasting and times of famine and the body was designed to hold on to energy as much as possible during the "feast" period but also slowed down the metabolism so you'd use less energy while doing exercise/catching the next meal.

In the current day most of us don't need this default mechanism because we have food available whenever we want but if, over many many years, we've not really eaten regularly (eating very little, if anything, all day then having a good size evening meal) the body kinda sees it like a mini famine/feast cycle so will hold onto weight easier and it's harder to loose.

I'd you eat more regularly the body recognises that it doesn't need to hold onto the energy anymore as food will be regular, so you lose it easier.... Does that make sense?

I always tell my patients to think of it like a savings pot. If you're skint and have no money and you don't know when the next pay cheque will come from you're really frugal and won't want to spend much at all (just in case), but if you had a regular income and knew how much money you're getting and when, they you don't mind spending so much. Even if you're a bit low on cash you know your getting paid tomorrow so it's ok to buy something today because it will be replenished.

I hope this makes sense...

With regards to what works for everyone. It's different for all. Which is why we (my colleagues & I) always Taylor the advice to the individual... But I'll help the best I can 😉

And my favourite calorie counting /diet app is actually NutraChek - they have different plans to follow and the interface is so much easier to use than MFP in my opinion 👍🏻

Woop @Sausage1990 to the rescue!

Juno231 · 27/10/2020 16:55

oh btw did I mention my office is opening a gym next Monday? I'm so excited! It'll be free until the end of the year and then only cost us like £20/month going forward. Already booked myself in for a core class and bodypump class next week and grinning ear to ear about it!

OP posts:
lucyrp · 27/10/2020 17:00

@Sausage1990 ooo that's interesting! In regards to calories which calories are "good" and which are "bad"? I was trying to stear clear of grouping foods into the good and bad groups because that's why I felt slimming world no longer worked for me because I kept looking at foods as bad and it made me want them even more and then I'd end up binging. I need to work out simple ideas for breakfast and dinner for me to take to work. And it's difficult because the only times I have to exercise are before 7am in the morning and after 8pm at night🤣🙈I can't find that app when I search for it 😔

lucyrp · 27/10/2020 17:00

Also I've had sore nipples for like 3 days now but probbalt onlt 7dpo so thag means nothing😂

Sausage1990 · 27/10/2020 17:06

In other news I'm feeling really deflated & upset today. Today is exactly 3 weeks since I went in for my medical miscarriage and I've been keeping an eye on my hcg levels over the last few weeks to check they're dropping.

The 1st test was done the day after I come home from hospital, which was the day before I passed the last part of the placenta (or so I thought) - a strong line as expected. The 2nd was aboit a week later and saw a good difference in the colour getting fainter which we want. Anyway I've done the rest over the last 12 days and theres no change. None at all. Friday is 3 weeks since I thought the placenta came away so EPU said that will be the 3 weeks send the miscarriage date to test but I've lost all hope that the hmyesy will be negative in 3 days if its not changed at all in 12days 😭

I'm still bleeding too. Not heavy but needing a pad every day (technically just 1 a day woukd be enough but i change for hygiene & comfort) and blood when I wipe.

Which means retained pregnancy tissue doesn't it - that what all the leaflets & professionals say. Positive test & bleeding 3 weeks post miscarriage means retained products. Which means this isn't over 😭😭😭 1 month since we found out therses no heart beat, 3 weeks of bleeding and it's still not over. I'm so upset. Which is silly because I knew this might happen. But i didn't think it would and now Ill need to contact EPU and have another scan and probably need the surgery. And I'm absolutely gutted 😭😭😭 it's so exhausting - emotionally & physically. I'm so done with all of this. I just want it to be over.

Sorry to be a downer I'm just really not doing well with it all xx

Runnergirl1 · 27/10/2020 17:08

@Clairey844 and @Minster2012 it’s the worst least you’ll got a trip away I suppose. I am a teacher and this is my two weeks holidays spent isolating while 8out of 10 members of staff (In one unit) have the horrible thing Some holiday this is. To make matters worse 11dpo and bfn but not due until this weekend but it’s not looking good x

Sausage1990 · 27/10/2020 17:08

Sorry here's my hcg tests from recently for you to see. I forgot to attach x

lucyrp · 27/10/2020 17:18

@Sausage1990 I'm so sorry to hear you may have retained products. Obviously on a mental note it will be really difficult but the surgery in itself is absolutely fine as I had to have it when I retained products after my termination a few years ago and I actually haemorrhaged that's how I found out there were still products. I couldn't even really tell anything had happened as they put me under. X

Chlo2701 · 27/10/2020 17:24

@Sausage1990 I'm so sorry you're feeling so shit. Completely understandable. Having a loss is a complete emotional rollercoaster even when it is straight forward, let alone it going on for weeks like it is for you 😔 I don't know what to say really, apart from I'm so sorry💕

@lucyrp what's your RHR looking like today. I said earlier on here that my best friend tested today & found out she was pregnant. She was tracking her RHR aswel, she's 14DPO today & had an implantation dip at 11DPO. Here's her RHR she sent me

Sausage1990 · 27/10/2020 17:26

@lucyrp I'll attach the screen shot of the app in the play store. I have android but the app should look the same in the apple store too.

I think avoiding grouping foods as good or bad is really important. Food is nutrition but it's also pleasure, socialising, family time, celebration, and emotional crutch at times etc... So I'm a firm believer in the fact we can still have all foods without feeling restricted.

I tend to think more about what nutrition food gives us so for example bread... If we choose white sliced bread we get energy from carbohydrates and vitamins which are added (calcium, iron & a few B Vitamins). Seeded granary bread has all of the above but also fibre, more protein from the seeds, and some healthy fats from the seeds too. The seeded slowly releases the energy too so keeps you fuller for longer.

So a slice of while is lower calorie (about 85-95 calories roughly) than a slice of seeded (which is about 120cals) but you'll get more nourishment & be filler for longer with the seeded.

Think of it as nutrient dense goods, some may be slightly higher in calories but have really good nutrients (salmon, avocado, nuts, natural nut butters, olives, seeded bread etc).

Protein is your friend too - helps you feel fuller for longer as it take a while to digest & slows down the overall digestion of the whole meal. You're guna feel fuller (and for longer) after 2 medium slices of toast & 2 eggs than you would on 3 thick slices toast (which are roughly equal calorie wise).

Foods like chocolate and Crisps arent off the table tho. You can still have them, i usually recommend and 80/20 mentality. 80% of the time eat to nourish the body & 20% of the time eat to nourish the soul/heart 😉💕

I will add a caviat here that eating well doesn't equal weight loss. If you eat loads of nuts and piles of avocado's on toast then you're not going to loose weight. It's about balance. Also I definitely havnt been eating this way recently. Having gone from 24/7 morning sickness / nausea from August to September and then dealing with the turmoil of the miscarriage over October I've actually really struggled to get back on track with eating well. But I'm also being kind to myself because excessive restriction at the moment will probably lead to binges for me so I'm just letting it be and trying to make better choices when able. We are all human and it's not always easy 💕

@chlo2701 thank. I don't think there is much to say tbh chlo I just needed to offload while I was sat having a cry in the bath. I do feel better after my cry tho.

@lucyrp I think you're right it's the mental load of it all that's too much. I know it will be fine once it's over. I'm guna call epu in the morning and I'll have to speak to my boss too as I've gone back to work and putting my clinics back up and now I mihht need to be off again 😩 it's just alot and I'm feeling very emotionally depleted 😭

lucyrp · 27/10/2020 17:35

@Chlo2701 it's not looking good to be honest it was 82bpm but went back down to 81bpm so it's been that for 3 days in a row now so doesnt look good 😔
