@lucyrp I'll attach the screen shot of the app in the play store. I have android but the app should look the same in the apple store too.
I think avoiding grouping foods as good or bad is really important. Food is nutrition but it's also pleasure, socialising, family time, celebration, and emotional crutch at times etc... So I'm a firm believer in the fact we can still have all foods without feeling restricted.
I tend to think more about what nutrition food gives us so for example bread... If we choose white sliced bread we get energy from carbohydrates and vitamins which are added (calcium, iron & a few B Vitamins). Seeded granary bread has all of the above but also fibre, more protein from the seeds, and some healthy fats from the seeds too. The seeded slowly releases the energy too so keeps you fuller for longer.
So a slice of while is lower calorie (about 85-95 calories roughly) than a slice of seeded (which is about 120cals) but you'll get more nourishment & be filler for longer with the seeded.
Think of it as nutrient dense goods, some may be slightly higher in calories but have really good nutrients (salmon, avocado, nuts, natural nut butters, olives, seeded bread etc).
Protein is your friend too - helps you feel fuller for longer as it take a while to digest & slows down the overall digestion of the whole meal. You're guna feel fuller (and for longer) after 2 medium slices of toast & 2 eggs than you would on 3 thick slices toast (which are roughly equal calorie wise).
Foods like chocolate and Crisps arent off the table tho. You can still have them, i usually recommend and 80/20 mentality. 80% of the time eat to nourish the body & 20% of the time eat to nourish the soul/heart 😉💕
I will add a caviat here that eating well doesn't equal weight loss. If you eat loads of nuts and piles of avocado's on toast then you're not going to loose weight. It's about balance. Also I definitely havnt been eating this way recently. Having gone from 24/7 morning sickness / nausea from August to September and then dealing with the turmoil of the miscarriage over October I've actually really struggled to get back on track with eating well. But I'm also being kind to myself because excessive restriction at the moment will probably lead to binges for me so I'm just letting it be and trying to make better choices when able. We are all human and it's not always easy 💕
