Hello!

Im in my first month of trying with my partner of 12 years. With wedding plans up in the air due to covid we decided we didn’t want to put our lives on hold any more so here we are!

I came off the pill, had my withdrawal bleed and now in the two week wait until next week when I can test.

I guess I just wanted to come on here and see if anyone else is new to trying too. Or people who can give light in how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

We haven’t told no one we’re trying so I feel like I haven’t got no one to talk too about it all. Trying to stay positive and would love to have a happy ending to 2020.

Sending baby dust to you all xxx

@Happythoughts91 Aw I hope so ha!
@DrS44 Yeah hopefully it will work out!

I don’t drink that much anyways. Went through a phase in the last lock down where I roughly drank 1 bottle of Prosecco a week. Which I guess is still under the guidance when your not pregnant of course haha 😂 but I would say it’s been well over a month since I’ve last drank 😂 just never seem to buy it recently.
Although I’ve been abit concerned about caffeine. I normally drink tea. Switched totally to decaf except when I was nightshift I didn’t have my tea bags with me so had to drink normal tea. But I love iced coffee. So every few days I like to get an iced caramel macchiato from Starbucks which has two shots of espresso in. I’ve looked into and seem to think it’s only 150mg of caffeine and they recommend you stay below 200mg when your actually pregnant. So I’m sure I’m fine haha

I would say your totally fine to drink. My sister was pregnant and was on a two week holiday in Ibiza and was drunk the full time (obviously she didn’t know she was pregnant) and he’s a perfectly healthy 7 year old now!

Think you would just miss a dose of the pre natals. Don’t think you should double up x

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 11:46

I mean fine to drink when you don’t know your pregnant that is 😂😂

DrS44 · 14/11/2020 11:51

@GreenApplesYo ooohhh that's interesting!! That might be it 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ it's all so new!

So are you not supposed to have sex once you find out your pregnant?? Sorry I'm a bit lost 😂

@jessi60 ya I've heard of loads of people saying that too! To be fair I was just starting to feel a little guilty in case people didn't when TTC. Guilt free now 😂😂 xxx

GreenApplesYo · 14/11/2020 11:57

@DrS44 no don't worry you're absolutely allowed to keep having sex... It just feels like you ought not to at first. At least that's how I felt 🙂but I'm getting used to the idea

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 11:58

For the pre Natals I’m only going off what I do at work cause I give a lot of the same vitamins that are in them in drug rounds and for whatever reason if we can’t get hold of them until later we wouldn’t give two together can’t make you feel really nauseous x

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 12:00

Hi All

I’ve been on the pill for around 15 years, I’m TTC for the first time, I came off the pill in August, had the usual withdrawal bleed and since Have had cycles of 23, 21 and now only 14 days, should I be worried or is it normal for your body to take a few months to get into a regular cycle? I know it’s early days but it’s already starting to stress me out!

PowerOfFlowers · 14/11/2020 12:25

Happy Saturday all! Enjoyed catching up on where you all are 😀
Oh @GreenApplesYo hope you feel better today and fainting doesn't become a regular occurrence for you. Nice one on DTD - I feel the same, I'd be wary the first few weeks, I don't know why 🤣
I LOVE Melbourne @CardioQueen I was over in 2018 and spent a lot of time on Ponyfish Island 😄 Can't wait to return one day!
@DrS44 If I forget to take one, I just carry on as normal the next day. I've cut down a LOT on my drinking. I used to drink 4 nights a week, but thats normal in London and I work in an industry where that is very sociable thing to do. Lockdown has helped me keep it to once or twice a week and not go ott 😄 But, i do drink in TWW, but nothing crazy. You've got to live your life.
Welcome @JenLouNic86 😀 it is normal for your body to get into a regular cycle. I'm a year off the pill, just started ttc and it took about six months for my cycle to regulate. Stress can also affect it. I had a 45 day cycle in July but now back to 35 days. But everybody is different. Keep track of it and you'll be ok.

So, AF has gone Woooop! Cd6 today and we dtd this morning and my plan is to do it every other day now until I know I've ovulated. Maybe every day when the app tells me I'm fertile. DP is not going to know whats hit him!!

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 12:34

@PowerOfFlowers thank you for replying, I know I should try not to stress over it 😅 I think I just assumed everything would fall into place, I’m 34 so worried time is now against me, plus most people seem to have long cycles whereas mine are getting shorter each month!

PowerOfFlowers · 14/11/2020 12:41

I feel you, I'm 35 and when I had my 45 day cycle I thought I was starting the menopause 🤣

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 12:48

@PowerOfFlowers 🤣 it is hard not to think crazy! I guess for now just have to go with the flow as have no idea when or even if I’m ovulating when everything is so irregular 🤷🏼‍♀️

KitQ · 14/11/2020 14:28

Hi everyone, can I join in? I’m new here. Came off the pill in September and had 2 regular cycles of 26/27 days. I’m on CD15 now and just been trying this past week (first cycle trying). Coming to the end of fertile window now (I think) so now got the wait til I can test. Fingers crossed!

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 15:02

@KitQ Heyyy aw how exciting. Got my fingers crossed for you🤞🏼🥰 I’m only on CD 9 at the minute, first month after a proper period since my implant removed Xxx

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 15:05

Do you guys know with the pre mom app (see my picture below) does it just start saying high chance to get pregnant just incase I ovulate early? Doesn’t tell me to actually dtd for another three days? I mean I’ve started already just incase 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 X

TTC cycle 1 (just come off pill) for #1
jessi60 · 14/11/2020 15:18

@JenLouNic86 Heyyy🥰
I think it’s pretty normal for your cycles to be all over the place. I had my implant removed, had a withdrawal bleed and then a period 28 days later. So in my first proper month of trying. I’m hoping I’m going to stay with 28 cycles but I’m similar to you in that I’ve had around 10 years on hormonal contraception. But my next cycle could come whenever I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just a waiting game!

Where you trying all the months when you had 23 and 21 day cycles or just this month? You using any apps to try and track things? X

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 16:12

Hi @jessi60 😌 I’m hoping it’s just my body settling down but at the moment it’s making it hard to tell when my fertile window is! Yeh I’ve been tracking my cycle on the Ovia app, unless you can suggest a different one? We DTD in what I thought was my fertile window but I’m not really getting signs that I’m actually ovulating even though I am having periods 🤔

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 16:27

@JenLouNic86 I used the pre mom app and find it really good. It’s simple to follow. Are you using ovulation tests? Maybe buy the cheap strips and do them daily so you can see if your ovulating.. then you scan the results in on the pre mom app xx

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 16:50

@jessi60 thanks, maybe I’ll have a go at using that instead. Which opk strips do you use?

jessi60 · 14/11/2020 16:58

@JenLouNic86
I’ve got the ones that wilko sell, their own brand. But a lot of people buy the ones on Amazon that are cheap, once people read these messages they will be able to tell you what ones they got.

There’s the clear blue digital one that’s meant to be good aswell but that’s expensive. You could do the cheap strips every day to get an idea of what’s happening. Xx

GreenApplesYo · 14/11/2020 18:42

Hi @KitQ welcome. Good luck for your 2ww!

@JenLouNic86 I used the femometer OPKs from amazon. You get a big box of 50 for around £12 I think. They worked fine. Other people on here have been using the easy@home ones from amazon, they seem to be fine too.

Your cycles do sound short! Do you get a normal AF each time? You could try agnus castus if you haven't looked into it already. This is from Holland and Barrett

"Several studies have found that agnus castus can rebalance hormones and lengthen menstrual cycles, regulate periods and even lead to successful pregnancies"

www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/conditions/womens-health/menopause/what-is-agnus-castus/

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 20:21

Thanks @jessi60 😌 @GreenApplesYo the first 2 were what I would deem as normal but the last one was light and short only about 3 days and then 14 days later it has arrived again! Just seems strange they have got shorter each time and now lighter too, don’t know what to think really! Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll look into that 👍🏻

CardioQueen · 14/11/2020 21:28

@GreenApplesYo as a 14 year old I would have been horrified if that had happened to me. But when I went to the GP (still horrified tbf) she was like oh don't stress, I've removed approx 1 lost or forgotten tampon a week for the last 10 years. It is so common.

@PowerOfFlowers omg Ponyfish Island didn't make it through Covid 😭 it's so sad. We went into the city once lockdown ended a couple of weeks ago and went to go there for a drink. Just a complete shell and they were removing the leftover railing and stuff.

@JenLouNic86 welcome! It's def normal to take the body a while to settle. I have been on the pill on and off (mainly on) for 16 years and I'm 33. My first 'cycle' between withdrawal bleed and first period was 37 days, next cycle 57 days and now I'm CD16 in the next cycle. I was like clockwork each time I'd been off the pill in the past and had cycles around 34/35 days. I'm trying not to stress about it as it can def take 6 months for the body to properly regulate. Agree with @GreenApplesYo suggestion of the Agnus Castus, I've seen that mentioned pretty regularly.

JenLouNic86 · 14/11/2020 21:54

Thank you @CardioQueen it’s nice to hear from others similar age to me and how their bodies are adjusting! I was the same the odd time I wasn’t on the pill over the years and before I went on it when I was about 19 I knew to the day when my period would be and was the standard average 28 days, I guess I just thought it would go back to it, still a little worried they are on the short side now, I’m just hoping the last one of 14 days is a blip as it’s not possible to ovulate if it’s that short! 🤞🏻 They will start to regulate themselves soon as it’s hard at the moment to tell when or even if I’m actually ovulating! Will look into that supplement suggestion though.

PowerOfFlowers · 15/11/2020 00:22

I'm so sad to hear that @CardioQueen 😢 I hope they replace it with somewhere as good! We also spent a lot of time at The Arbory Bar by the Yarra. Ahhh such a good time ☺️☺️

DrS44 · 15/11/2020 08:32

@KitQ @JenLouNic86 welcome ladies! I'm only very new to this had my withdrawal a few weeks ago and I now think I'm ovulating before my AF.

@AMS19 @GreenApplesYo @PowerOfFlowers @jessi60 @Dex1521 do you know why they say not to use FMU with OPKs? I did this morning because I was super thirsty and didn't want to wait and it's come back the strongest yes. Premom has it recorded at 1.19? Could it be a false positive? I am still getting cramps but they don't seem to be as concentrated to one side, so this morning I thought I was going to get AF.
Is it normal to get EWCM in the days leading up? Is it then 24-36 hours after a peak I should ovulate? And is the idea to BD now and tomorrow or just as much as possible? 🤣🤣 xxx

DrS44 · 15/11/2020 08:35

Also @JenLouNic86 I use the easy at home Premom ones. Can't remember how much it was but they were cheap, about 50 OPKs and 20 pregnancy tests! Definitely worth it if you've no idea when you will be ovulating. I also bought the more expensive CB smiley face ones but there's really no benefit to them unless you know roughly when you're ovulating I would say. The line progression is useful to follow on the ICs (internet cheapies I'm told 😂) xxx
