TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives

Thought I'd start this post as hoping there are some lovely ladies in a similar boat to me.

DH and I are now 8 months in TTC and no luck. We both really want it to happen though he does have a son already so not always as emotional about AFs arrival every month as I am.

I know it's early days still and some have to go a lot longer but I'm now starting to get to the worried/upset stage. Get pangs of sadness when I see a baby bump or something pregnancy related in the shops, on TV or online.

Would love to hear and support others who are in the same boat as me

@CausingChaos2 I have just received mine but I can't understand them at all I think I'm being stupid.
@30somethingyorkie wow congratulations that's amazing news.
@sparkylauz I am doing the testing now too. Hope your okay.
@Izzie94 the relaxed approach I've been trying since last summer. So when people tell me to just relax and it'll happen I feel like telling them to do one. Interesting they don't test your Dh as they have insisted on testing mine even though he has children.

Can you guys who have done this help me please I know I'm being thick but I'm confused as everything I've searched doesn't make sense with this.
The receptionist said my day 20s are fine.
She said my progesterone levels are 46.5 and my perameter is 11-81.
Has she told me them to wrong way round? Makes no sense for what I've been searching but she definately said them that way round as I wrote it down as she said them. But she did repeat the numbers a few times and seemed a bit flustered.
So I'm kind of like phewww but then very confused.

CausingChaos2 · 02/03/2021 12:04

Sorry you haven’t had any luck yet Izzie94 but yes stay positive. I think the stats are 90% conception by two years.

Sorry you’re still in the same boat as well SparkyLauz I’ve decided I won’t have the vaccine until after (if I ever!) fall pg. I’m going to be taking social distancing precautions for a long time, and will keep being careful.

30 that is amazing news! Congratulations! You must be so shocked. How exciting.

Lovebug that’s very similar to one of my progesterone tests. I got 45.6 and my GP said it was a good, strong result. I think they look for a level over 30 to confirm ovulation actually happened.

SparkyLauz · 02/03/2021 14:30

@30somethingyorkie Twins!! That's amazing haha, congratulations I bet you never expected 2 for the price of 1 hehe, I'm so happy for you xx

@izzie94 haha yes you're so right. I was absolutely convinced this was my month I really was. I didn't opk but felt like I knew when I ovulated and we DTD that same morning. Also my boobs were so incredibly sore they'd never been that sore before.
Going to carry on the relaxed approach again. Literally only BD when we actually feel like it, not when we 'have' to as I really wasn't enjoying it anymore and it shouldn't be like that!

Sorry to hear your Dr's still won't be able to investigate DH yet, that really sucks.

@causingchaos2 and @izzie94 Regarding the jab I'm sure I read somewhere that it's 3 months yeah. I don't really want to put TTC on hold for that long that's for sure.

@lovebug06 how long have you had to wait for appointments etc? What's next for you? Hope you're ok too x

Lovebug06 · 02/03/2021 14:36

@CausingChaos2 oh good I'm so relieved. However I just wonder why is it not happening then?! Sorry can I ask how long you have been trying again, I get everyone mixed up. Also, strange question and you may not know, would the reading be different if you'd conceived? Although I'm thinking probably not as it's like 7dpo. Awaiting AF so a bit anxious.
@sparkylauz I've only done the blood tests and swabs this month and they were booked in the month before as had to wait for AF to arrive again. I think dh needs to test, he is not keen so keeps putting it off as has children, but doctor said he needs to still.
Ah girls AF is due in the next couple of days. I just know it'll come and I know I'll still be really upset, dreading it!

AllTheWayFromLondonDAMN · 02/03/2021 14:36

I got pregnant on month 9 with DD1 (and then immediately with DD2, doesn’t make any sense!) but the month I got pregnant I tried acupuncture as I was told it can help realign the hormones in women who have been on hormonal contraceptives for many years (I’d been on them for around 12yrs). Who knows if it was placebo, but if worked. Might be hard to source due to lockdown but I’ve read a lot about Chinese medicine and there’s lots of anecdotal evidence for certain herbs helping good article here.

It will almost certainly happen for you so please try and keep calm and optimistic (I know that’s easier said than done and I wasn’t at all). Also, might be worth chatting with your GP as even though they say they won’t do anything for a year, my GP was kind enough to send me for a blood test to check I was ovulating in month 6.

Good luck to you @30somethingyorkie and everyone else TTC.

CausingChaos2 · 02/03/2021 15:01

Yes Sparky three months feels a long time to delay doesn’t it? Although we weren’t allowed to TTC this month, and plan not to try next month as it would mean a December baby. I didn’t think TTC was causing me lots of stress but actually I feel so much more relaxed knowing it’s off the cards for a few weeks. So maybe a 3 month break wouldn’t be so bad.

I feel exactly the same Lovebug06
It’s a relief to get normal results but doesn’t answer why it isn’t happening for us. We stopped using protection around June/ July 2019 and started properly timing sex around FW since September 2019. I also have short cycles so plenty of chances in that time. How about yourself? I’m hopeless at remembering everyone’s details.

I’m sorry I’m not sure whether the result would be much different, I’d guess the same as you, at 7dpo it would probably be too early to affect the result. I really hope AF stays away for you.

CausingChaos2 · 02/03/2021 16:18

I’m losing the plot - can’t even blame baby brain. Ignore the dates in my previous post Lovebug. I’ve just checked my period tracking app and we did stop using protection in June/ July 2019 so in theory around 20 months.
But have only been using OPKs to time sex properly for 11 cycles.

Lovebug06 · 02/03/2021 18:50

@CausingChaos2 I am not as far along as you I'm about 14 months. But I had a year before that I wasn't allowed to try and had to get my body prepared due to a medical condition, so with that on top it just feels forever.
I wiped and there was some pink and now I'm scared to go to the toilet. I know that's stupid. It also makes no sense as if it's coming I just want it to come and get it over with at the same time. Does anyone else feel like this? I just know I'm gonna be so upset. My friend is pregnant after less time than me who already had other dcs and it's so hard. Various scans and newborns on my social media feed today also. Ahh ttc is so hard.

CausingChaos2 · 03/03/2021 13:32

It is so hard Lovebug I so wish I could wave a magic wand and we’d all have our BFPs. I think most of us on the thread are trying for our first too, which feels particularly cruel when we have so much love to give and nowhere to put it.

Lovebug06 · 04/03/2021 09:43

@CausingChaos2 AF arrived yesterday evening. Haven't even cried. Feel like it though. I can't actually imagine it not coming?
So the random bit of blood two days before, was just another new thing for me. My friend had that last month and it was implantation. I also didn't really get cramps or anything this month. I think my body likes to mess with me!
My heart hurts so badly when AF comes every month. X

Izzie94 · 10/03/2021 22:07

Hey ladies

Sorry this thread is SO quiet at the moment. Seems we’re all struggling a bit 😭

How’s everyone feeling? Where are you at with your cycles? Sending lots of love x

CausingChaos2 · 11/03/2021 11:42

Hello Izzie94 how are you?

I’m ok thanks - AF due any day but we won’t be TTC next cycle just incase (and what feels v. unlikely!) we conceived as it would mean a December due date. GP has sent off our referral to fertility and I’ve a pelvic scan later this month.

SparkyLauz · 11/03/2021 13:16

Hii @izzie94 yeah I think we're all finding it hard at the moment 😥

I'm on CD14 so thinking I O'd yesterday from CM and pain but don't think this is the month as literally only DTD once and that was 5 days ago. DH has not been very participating recently which made me a bit upset. But after a talk we will step up our game next month I'm going to back to OPKs too. Good news though that his Semen analysis was sufficient and GP said that was all ok so that's a bit of a weight off. She has referred us now to fertility clinic so we are just waiting for them to contact us.

Hope you're all OK. I'm still buzzing that you're having twins @30somethingyorkie!! It really goes to show good things come to those who wait 😊

acaciabluebell · 11/03/2021 14:41

Hi everyone I hope it's OK for me to join - I've been looking for somewhere where I can chat with others in my similar position. I've been in a few other threads but then everyone there got pregnant but I'm still waiting 😭

I'm on month 13 of TTC#1 now, I'm 25 and DH is 28. I just had a chemical pregnancy in my last cycle. Before that, I had all my initial fertility tests done in Jan/Feb, most were normal but my progesterone on day 21 was 25.3 which is too low. They want it to be over 30 to indicate ovulation. I then took an at-home AMH test because I was feeling paranoid and turns out I have a super low ovarian reserve. We also got DH's semen analysis results back this week and it came back as low morphology (only 2% normal).

I'm on CD8/9 now and I've just finished my bleed from my chemical pregnancy so waiting for my FW now, which could take up to 3 weeks. So much waiting!

Izzie94 · 11/03/2021 15:07

@CausingChaos2 I’m good thanks lovely ☺️ Ah, sometimes a break is just what you need. I really hope this is your month though!!🤞🏼 I’m glad you’ve got your scans booked too, it’s almost nice having that to look forward to in a way 😅

@SparkyLauz it’s just draining isn’t it?!? My emotions are sick to death of being happy during the fertile week, feeling so hopeful, then back to misery every time I get my period 😩😂 it’s really hard finding that momentum each month isn’t that? But also you don’t want to waste a month. Ugh!!!! We will get there 🤍 positive thoughts and all that! Oh that’s amazing!!! Least you can chill out about that now and be certain it’ll happen in the next few months🤞🏼 We’re all getting those BFPs before fertility treatment is needed!!! As we’d have to pay we’re waiting until next January so I’m realllllly trying hard to be chill lol! X

@acaciabluebell welcome lovely!! 🥰 sorry to hear you’re joining us. I’m 26, DH 31 and I must admit I never thought it would be this hard! We’re on cycle 15 now and it’s never easier each month. So sorry to hear about your chemical, in a way I’m glad I’ve never had one because I bet it’s devastating after all that time to finally see a BFP for it to be taken away. Where did you get the AMH test? Is it legit? Are the docs willing to do any further investigations for you? I really hope you get your BFP soon🤍 we all deserve it by now xx

Lovebug06 · 11/03/2021 19:06

@Izzie94 we all go quiet but come back together. I don't think we expected us to still all be trying at this point, but I find this group so supportive. I hope your okay.

@CausingChaos2 I hope AF doesn't come. I hope your feeling okay about your scan x

@sparkylauz I have that issue with DH sometimes. I don't think they get the heartache so much and get a bit drained. I find it upsetting as although I get it could be pressure they literally just have to DTD, don't have all the other stressful bits. I am glad you are feeling better after a chat, I found that helped too x

Welcome @acaciabluebell this group is lovely. I am on cycle 15 now, it is so hard isn't it, never expect it to take so long. I'm sorry to hear of your chemical Flowers

A member of DH family has referred to me being infertile a few times. Not meant horribly but I'm a bit shocked and hurt. Some of us don't conceive easily, it doesn't mean I'm infertile (and I think it would be horrible to hear if I was Sad) and people who have got pregnant easily don't get it at all.

laura2093 · 14/03/2021 16:12

Hello ladies ❤️ I hope you are all well? I took a bit of break from here whilst I got my head in a better place. We are still trying this month, now using conceive plus lube and my partner taking macca root as well. I take seven seas too. We are not doing opks or temp. Just going with my normal cycle... less pressure and bulking DTD around one week.
We have now officially been referred- just waiting for a phone call to book the initial appointment. I'm anxious but pleased things are moving forward. Any ideas what to expect at the first appointment? Xxx

Lovebug06 · 16/03/2021 11:14

@laura2093 is this for the fertility clinic or the bloods? Sorry I get mixed up.
Hope your okay. I've done the bloods and would also be interested to hear about the fertility clinic x

Izzie94 · 16/03/2021 11:33

@Lovebug06 really sorry you’ve got some members of the family that clearly don’t understand. I really wish they’d teach people that getting pregnant can take time!!! Doesn’t mean we’re infertile. I had a comment of my sister in law to say “maybe you just don’t match as a couple”. Yep, thank you 👍🏼 Absolute idiots. But my new mantra is we can’t control other people but we can control our own happiness and actions so I removed myself from that situation and said my peace with it 😅 I’m also expecting her pregnancy announcement any day soon!! So feeling a little flattened atm, but I’m in my FW and hoping by some miracle cycle 15 is my lucky one? Haha

@laura2093 oh that’s a little exciting! Is this for a fertility clinic? Unfortunately DH and I don’t qualify so we haven’t been referred nor gone private yet! Hoping this year is our year and we’ll fall naturally 🤞🏼 Let me know how you get on though. I’d be interested to know as I am very tempted to pay for a private consultation and some better advice from fertility specialists!!

X

Lovebug06 · 16/03/2021 12:17

@Izzie94 oh that's horrible of her. I just think as dh has children already its not as big deal to his family. This member just talks of how other family members will have babies and when they're older and I'm totally left out. If I was infertile this would be even worse!
I'm also cycle 15 and my fw has just ended. At the beginning of all this I was so excited, I'm just deflated now. I have my fingers crossed for you X

CausingChaos2 · 16/03/2021 12:50

Lovebug06 That is absolutely horrid. How very heartless of them. Please take no notice.

Izzie94 I hope you fall PG and don’t need any help, but just incase, I’m sure my GP said they can do initial investigations even if you/ your partner already have DC. It’s just the actual fertility treatment that wouldn’t be possible. If it’s the same in your area it could save you some pennies on tests if you go private.

Hello to everyone else and welcome to the newbies.

Izzie94 · 16/03/2021 14:37

@Lovebug06 ah same with my DH! And to be honest, with him already having a child I really did think it would happen quickly 😅 I’m glad it’s not just me, and the best things in life take time ey! I feel exactly the same, I do try and stay positive but 15 cycles in, I feel like I’ll never see a BFP. I’ve never ever had one!!! BUT, this is going to be our month 🤍 if not the next🤞🏼😂 this year is for us!

@CausingChaos2 I’ve had blood tests by my doctor and paid privately for scans which I’m perfectly fertile 🤞🏼 It just seems like it’s one of those things that’s taking time. They weren’t interested in DH due to his son, but I’m going to get on at him next month to call and see (I might even call for him😂) I can’t see why they wouldn’t. That was 10 years ago now. Lots can change!!! How are you anyway lovely? Coping better than us? 😅

@30somethingyorkie @MJM1608 how are the pregnancies ladies? Would love to hear some positive stuff 😍

Hope everyone else is ok x x

Lovebug06 · 16/03/2021 15:14

@CausingChaos2 thankyou xx

@Izzie94 yes I've never had a hint of a bfp either! 2021 has got to be our year surely. X

CausingChaos2 · 16/03/2021 15:25

I’m fine thanks Izzie94 on CD 2 now but we won’t be TTC this month so feeling a bit more relaxed. Next cycle may be a different matter! Grin I think getting your DH some tests would be well worth it, like you say 10 years is a fair while.

Lovebug06 I think the term used now is sub fertility anyway. As in it’s taking us longer than average to conceive. Doesn’t mean that we can’t. So your DH’s relative is ignorant as well as insensitive. Stay strong x

Like both of you I’ve never had a BFP. The blood tests I’ve had (and my BBT temping) show that I’m ovulating though. Very frustrating not understanding where things are going wrong!

MJM1608 · 16/03/2021 16:07

@Izzie94 Thanks for thinking of me!! ❤️ I’ve looked at this thread a few times & so sad not to see more positives - you ladies must be finding it so hard 🥺 sending you all lots of love!! Hang in there!! Have you investigated any further with more testing?

@30somethingyorkie Hope you’re doing well!! Did I see you’re having twins?? AMAZING!! Hope you’re keeping well ❤️

Our little lady is absolutely perfect thanks for asking! I’ve started showing properly now at 22 weeks & started feeling her kicks. Can’t complain about anything 😊 just hope you all get to experience this amazing feeling soon!! 💜 xxxx

TTC 8 months in, still early days but starting to feel more and more every time AF arrives
