Trying to conceive baby No 1 over 40

October1979 · 13/10/2020 16:07

I am 40 nearly 41 and ttc baby no1. I fell pregnant for the first time in December but suffered a missed miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks in February. I've been trying ever since with no luck. I use Clearblue advanced fertility monitor. Take vitamin B, C and Co Q10 as well as pre conception tablets daily. Until lockdown I did weekly acupuncture. I guess I'm feeling low as af turned up today and I turn 41 very soon.

I am usually positive and hopeful. Trying to think what's for me won't go past me...

Looking for some buddies in the same boat or some over 40s who conceived naturally to give me hope and share their secret to success.

Oh how worrying @Catconfusion @Littlemiss40andfabulous. Try not to think the worst. It might just be that your urine was more diluted when you both tested so the line was fainter? The positive is that neither of you are bleeding. Stay hopeful x

Thanks @October1979 trying my best at the moment. I can’t imagine the sample was diluted after an 8 hour hold but I guess you never know. Definitely no bleeding though, just a bit of cramping again. Xx

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 25/01/2021 14:27

So yesterday I kept peeing on the cheap little plastic pee sticks and watched with dismay as the faint line disappeared completely. But then I checked it again with a super duper Clear Blue line test and it came up quickly and relatively strong, so that's reassured me again. I didn't expect that to happen!

@Shadow79

Sorry guys, I wrote my message in the wrong group and then thought I'd be clever and copy my text in to the right group. Looks like a copied the whole page.. DohHmm Sorry x
@Shadow79 I’m so very sorry to hear about your MC. Sounds like you have the right attitude and plan to move forward. I think it’s a balancing act at our age between collecting useful data and relaxing to give nature a shot. I have fibroids too and how significant those are to pregnancy seems to change with the weather if all my medical professionals are to be believed!! Ultimately you got pregnant. Arguably that’s the first big hurdle. Good luck! xxx
Catconfusion · 25/01/2021 17:15

Sounds good @Littlemiss40andfabulous if clear blue is picking it up. I’ve got everything crossed for you that you get some stronger lines over the next couple of days.

Bad news from me. I’m getting pretty much negative tests now so it’s looking like a very early loss. We’re pretty sad and exhausted from a rollercoaster of a week. It just feels so cruel to get such a strong line on Friday and now nothing. It’ll be ok though. We’re seeing it as a positive we got pregnant so quick, even if it didn’t work out! Xx

sabtom · 26/01/2021 10:09

@Catconfusion I'm so sorry to hear that Thanks have you done blood tests with your GP, maybe it's dud tests that you have? Staying optimistic for you Smile

sabtom · 26/01/2021 10:11

11dpo for me today but my bbt took a nose dive this morning from 36.82 to 36.62, so expecting AF to show up tomorrow Sad

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 26/01/2021 10:26

Sorry to hear that @Catconfusion. As you say it is encouraging knowing you can conceive, so hopefully it won't be too long until until it happens again.

Hi @sabtom - you never know- let us know what happens.

I'm still testing negative on the cheap hcg sticks, but no cramping or bleeding. If nothing happens before then I'm going to wait until our weekly ASDA shop on Thursday before buying more tests and testing again with a clear blue test. It's going to be a long 48hours!!

Catconfusion · 26/01/2021 11:39

@sabtom I initially wondered that but the bleeding started in the night so it’s over now. We’re gutted but I’ve heard a chemical pregnancy can be the wombs way of preparing for pregnancy. Sometimes a dip in temp can be implantation. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

I’m sorry to hear that @Littlemiss40andfabulous Seeing a negative after a positive is just so rubbish. Hoping it’s a dud test and you get a blazing positive. Xx

October1979 · 26/01/2021 14:31

Sorry@Catconfusion it will happen.

Hi @sabtom are you good at reading BBT charts? I think my AF is on its way too. Could you tell me if you see anything good/ concerning with my BBT chart. Thanks

@October1979 your chart looks really good. It’s a good sign your temperature has gone up. Fingers crossed for you. Xx

October1979 · 26/01/2021 15:31

Thanks @Catconfusion is my BBT a bit low?

OP posts:
sabtom · 26/01/2021 16:15

@October1979 unfortunately I'm no expert on charts, I just input my temp and let my app work it out lol but I would agree with @Catconfusion, it's staying high so it looks good.

Catconfusion · 26/01/2021 16:29

@October1979 it does look a bit on the low side but then I used Ovusense when I did mine so an internal monitor. I can imagine skin temperature being cooler. Do Ava advise about how the results will be lower than internal temperature? Low temperature can be a sign of low progesterone, though I suspect you’d be spotting if this was a problem. Xx

October1979 · 26/01/2021 18:17

Hi @Catconfusion how are you doing? I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so cruel that we get our hopes up to have them dashed like that. Well done on looking at the positives so soon. It's not easy but I'm sure it will happen for you soon. Thanks for your feedback. I checked with Ava and it looks like you are right skin temp is lower. Mine look right in the middle. I was looking at bbt and worried it meant low progesterone too. But thankfully they are in the mid range of where they should be. I do think AF will come though. My breasts were sore all week and are starting to lose their sensitivity. This usually happens 2 days before af shows.

Catconfusion · 26/01/2021 18:30

I’m ok thanks @October1979 though been swinging between feeling between incredibly sad and hopeful for next time. The hormones are probably not helping. It is horrible having this amazing thing happen and getting excited for it be snatched away. It’s so cruel. Just wish I hadn’t got such a strong positive on Friday.

Good news on the progesterone front then. I had a feeling the low temps were due to how they’re taken. I do hope you’re wrong about AF. Sore boobs are definitely an early pg symptom. It can come and go too. I really hope you get a surprise. Xx

October1979 · 26/01/2021 18:37

Me to @Catconfusion but I think the breast sensitivity would get worse rather than better if I was?

OP posts:
Catconfusion · 26/01/2021 20:49

@October1979 the symptoms can come and go early on. Everyone is different though. I got to 6 weeks and everything was severe and more consistent by then. You just never know until you take a test. Xx

October1979 · 26/01/2021 21:00

Thanks for your positivity@Catconfusion my AF is due Thursday. I'm going to try and wait until then to test

OP posts:
Catconfusion · 26/01/2021 21:32

@October1979 that’s a good idea. Much easier to know for sure at 4 weeks plus! Xx

sabtom · 27/01/2021 10:20

Morning all! Just a little update. My temp went up a little this morning to 36.72. AF isn't due til tomorrow so I'm gunna hold off on the test til then.

Catconfusion · 27/01/2021 10:30

Brilliant @sabtom I’ve got everything crossed for you. It’s looking so good! Well done for holding off the testing. What kind of thermometer are you using out of interest? Xx

sabtom · 27/01/2021 11:08

@Catconfusion I use Femometer and it's app and I also input details into FF as a backup. Sometimes the dates they give me don't match at all but this month they've both been consistent in my ovulation date.

Catconfusion · 27/01/2021 11:13

Thanks @sabtom I have one of them from when I was ttc my son. I fell pregnant with ds before I could use it and then misplaced it during the haze of early pregnancy. Before that I was using ovusense which was amazing, just expensive.

Great your data is lining up! I really hope this is it. It helped me so much when it came to having scans knowing when I conceived almost to the day. It gave me a lot more confidence all was well. I really hope we get some more bfps on this thread. Xx
