Trying to conceive baby No 1 over 40

I am 40 nearly 41 and ttc baby no1. I fell pregnant for the first time in December but suffered a missed miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks in February. I've been trying ever since with no luck. I use Clearblue advanced fertility monitor. Take vitamin B, C and Co Q10 as well as pre conception tablets daily. Until lockdown I did weekly acupuncture. I guess I'm feeling low as af turned up today and I turn 41 very soon.

I am usually positive and hopeful. Trying to think what's for me won't go past me...

Looking for some buddies in the same boat or some over 40s who conceived naturally to give me hope and share their secret to success.

Well ladies, it was nice whilst it lasted...

@Catconfusion I'm now joining you with stomach cramps and bleeding and being pretty confident I am definitely not pregnant any more.

I'd never heard of a chemical pregnancy before but think that's what I've had.

I'm going to take the positives though - that we can conceive, chemical pregnancy's are pretty common and do not mean there will be problems in future pregnancies.

And now I'm off with my hot water bottle to eat chocolate and drink that glass of wine!!

Take care everyone xxx

I've been considering trying a Ava bracelet as I'm getting sick n tired of setting my alarm to take my temp every morning (and I'm sure my OH would appreciate not being woken up before he has to lol) sometimes I get up earlier than my alarm and get up to go to the bathroom so the thermometer method can be unreliable. However, it is quite expensive and I don't know whether it's worth it or just put that money into the IVF fund 🤔

sabtom · 27/01/2021 18:49

Oh @Littlemiss40andfabulous I'm so sorry to hear that Thanks

Really sorry to hear that @Littlemiss40andfabulous that's hard news to take. But stay positive and it will happen. Sending love 💕 your way

@October1979 oh gosh! All those graphs and figures look far too complicated for me to understand Confused

October1979 · 27/01/2021 20:37

Apparently @sabtom over a few months you'll see a pattern and you ll know when the pattern changes. I just look at pulse rate and skin temp. Apparently you want your skin temp to stay high or climb at end of luteal phase and pulse should get higher if your pregnant. Both will fall if not. I'm sure there is a far more too it. But that's as far as I've got

Oh no @Littlemiss40andfabulous I’m so sorry. I did wonder if it would go the same way from what you said. It’s pretty sad so allow yourself to grieve. My second loss two years ago was a chemical but this one was worse because I got such strong lines. That’s why it was a bit more of a shock. It does mess with your head. Definitely not a sign of anything wrong and I’ve heard you can be super fertile after. Fingers crossed for us both! Xx

sabtom · 28/01/2021 12:37

Update: So this morning's temp went back down again to 36.60. AF should be due today (my LP is usually 11/12 days) it's 13dpo today. No symptoms really just a niggling headache that I woke up with. If AF doesn't show up tomorrow then I'll test 🤞🏻

Catconfusion · 28/01/2021 15:37

Aww fingers crossed @sabtom remember implantation can cause a dip before temp goes up. I had a hormonal headache in early pregnancy. I guess just see what tomorrow brings. Good luck! Xx

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 28/01/2021 17:28

Wishing you all the best @sabtom x

Catconfusion · 28/01/2021 18:17

How are you doing @Littlemiss40andfabulous ? What a rollercoaster!? I was really upset at first but now I’m feeling a lot more optimistic. Xx

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 28/01/2021 18:44

Thanks @Catconfusion

Emotionally not too bad - just waiting to try again next month now.

Physically I've felt a little lightheaded and weak this afternoon with the odd abdominal cramp, so going to take it easy tonight I think.

How are you doing?

XxX

Catconfusion · 29/01/2021 07:24

Aww @Littlemiss40andfabulous just rest rest rest! Good you’re feeling emotionally strong. These things can really throw you! I’m feeling ok too thanks.

My DH is off work this week so that’s really helped with looking after ds and getting some rest. I’m looking forward to trying again but a little scared it’ll happen again. Hopefully just a blip. Our bodies are very wise I think and these things as horrible but they are seem to form a function. Fertility can be heightened after so I hope we get some good news! Xx

sabtom · 29/01/2021 09:50

Unfortunately AF arrived this morning Sad hey ho, back to CD1 but at least it looks like my LP is getting longer, last month was only a 23 day cycle, made it to 26 this time Smile

I'll be following this thread intently and I hope we all get our BFPs soon Thanks

Catconfusion · 29/01/2021 11:14

Aww, so sorry @sabtom it’s good news about your luteal phase though. Mine is really long at 16 days which is frustrating during the 2ww but at least time for implantation. Good if 10 days plus! Xx

October1979 · 30/01/2021 14:45

Hi @sabtom I had an 11 day luteal phase until I started taking vitamin b12 and vitamin d. It's been 13 days over last few months since I started taking it.

Other news.... period still not arrived. This is 14dpo. Using my Ava temp is still rising. Although got not pregnant on my Clearblue digital monitor this morning. Started Googling how sensitive the tests were and they are 50 mlu. So not very sensitive. Did a first response this afternoon and sure I have a faint line. Very confused.

Littlemiss40andfabulous · 30/01/2021 16:58

Ooh I can see a line too! Smile

October1979 · 30/01/2021 17:37

Thanks everyone, trying not to get too excited in case it doesn't work out. We've been trying since mmc last February and nothing. Here's hoping it works out this time. If it does this Ava bracelet is magical.
