@Kitekat81 the whole health system here is better, I’m always surprised. They just do stuff then and there, like blood tests, i just have to call in and get one, no appt or waiting in a queue at the hospital, but that’s very german - no messing about. He said he’d see my hormone levels to see what would need topping up and then decide what course to take.

I didn’t have an external ultrasound, just an internal one. It was a bit uncomfortable but he showed me where my ovaries were and did like a 360 of my womb. I couldn’t really make much out to be honest, but he seemed happy with it. I think an external is maybe a bit clearer from pics ive seen of them, this looked a bit more 3D, but he was checking me for polyps so maybe they would show up more on an internal?

whatever1980 · 04/12/2020 04:34

I agree @Kitekat81 I had 21 day bloods done and they apparently came back normal but it was left to the receptionist to tell me the results and as nice and as nice as she was couldn't me what they meant - so does that mean I'm ovulating - erm I don't know type of thing. I got a print out of the results to google but didn't massively help

Germany's medical system is as expected really efficient from what I've heard

Kitekat81 · 04/12/2020 09:17

@Scotti84 wow that's so impressive. I hate saying anything bad about our NHS as I've needed them a few times over the years and when I've really needed it, they've been amazing. The wait time for standard procedures can be really frustrating though, and everything is taking even longer at the moment because of Covid 🙄 Maybe I should move to Germany! 😄

On the day I had my external scan I was so nervous, I was so worried that they might see something wrong, plus it was quite intimidating having to wear a mask and surrounded by people in masks. Also, I was having the scan because I'd been having some irregular periods, and the sonographer joked that I should just wait until I hit the menopause, then I'd be irregular all the time! She was just being nice and probably had no idea how I received that harmless joke, but you really shouldn't joke about menopause with a 38 year old who is trying to start a family. Menopause is my biggest fear! 😣 I ended up being so nervous and stressed I didn't ask any questions on the day, so only had the verdict from my GP a few days later which was 'normal'. I really wanted to ask, what does 'normal' mean? Does normal mean fertile? Or does normal mean normal for a 38 year old with declining fertility?? In the end I chilled out a bit and decided to just trust my GP who would surely have told me if the scan showed anything that I should be worried about 🤷‍♀️

Kitekat81 · 04/12/2020 09:26

@whatever1980 I was the same with my blood tests, I only got my results from the receptionist who just said 'normal'. I insisted on speaking to the GP who just said the same thing really, that my results were 'normal', so nothing to worry about, but she would start the referral process to the fertility clinic just because of my age, with the long waiting times it's better to at least have started the process, and there is no reason why I wouldn't conceive naturally in the meantime. I never received the actual numbers from the blood tests, and still to this day I'm not sure whether I should have asked for them. I don't know whether there would be any advantage in knowing them or whether I should just trust that they were 'normal'

@Overlyanxious

MgW1 · 05/12/2020 14:10

@Overlyanxious
AHH dear , sorry to hear that. When do you see doc? They can do amazing things now xxx

Overlyanxious · 05/12/2020 19:42

@MgW1 I’m seeing the Dr on Tuesday - so not too far away now. I’m going to push to be referred to a specialist as it’s all a bit confusing. Thanks for your supportive comment. All ok with my partner now - think it was all just the emotion of it. How are you getting on?

MgW1 · 05/12/2020 19:53

@Overlyanxious
With all the science and treatments , i feel unless its the dreaded cancer , nothing is insurmountable. Are you ttc first baby ? Xx

whatever1980 · 05/12/2020 20:50

Good luck on Tuesday @Overlyanxious

Overlyanxious · 06/12/2020 07:57

@MgW1 yeah I’m ttc my first. Thanks @whatever1980

MgW1 · 06/12/2020 08:16

@Overlyanxious
Good luck for Tuesday xxx

Farfaraway1 · 06/12/2020 08:48

Hi everyone 👋 my first time posting in here.

@Kitekat81 internal scans pick up a bit more detail compared to an external one. They can be commonly used in early pregnancy to check for things like fetal pole etc if it’s not seen or obvious on an external scan. Xx

I’m 37 and blessed with two beautiful boys. I feel like someone is missing in our family hence trying for another. Its now 13 months since I stopped BC. I lost a pregnancy Feb this year which turned out to be an incomplete miscarriage which wasn’t picked up until 2 months later so had to go to hospital for D&C. I’ve also previously had an ectopic and as a result now only have one tube. Still waiting for my BFP but the more time that passes the more I think it’s not going to happen ☹️ I know I’m extremely lucky and I’m extremely grateful to have my busy boys. 💖
sending vibes to you all for calm, health, happiness and babies! Xx

Kitekat81 · 06/12/2020 21:06

@Farfaraway1 welcome to the group! I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, that must have been really hard, especially to have it stretched over such a long time. I really hope that you'll get lucky soon xx

Farfaraway1 · 06/12/2020 23:09

@Kitekat81 thank you so much 🥰 yea was really hard. After the MC I wondered what was taking my period so long to return, did a HPT and was positive! So got all excited again only to find out it was retained product, not a new pregnancy 😫 maybe we’ll get lucky and have good news after Christmas ☺️ I’m pleased to have found this thread 💖

selina37 · 08/12/2020 15:16

Hi ladies, how's everyone?

@Loladoodle how are you getting on with your tests?

MgW1 · 08/12/2020 15:52

@selina37
Im ok , had a faint positive but think its a chemical
12 dpo and its so faint i have to hold it up to see ! Anyone else had a chemical? Il test again friday. Had acupuncture today and feel quite relaxed. Hope everyone is ok xx

Overlyanxious · 08/12/2020 16:35

@MgW1 glad you are feeling relaxed and fingers crossed it’s not a chemical. I had my dr appointment and I’m being referred to a gynae specialist so I can have more tests as the ultrasound doesn’t show enough - he said though to just keep trying. After a weekend of feeling sorry for myself I’m now feeling a lot better about it all.

MgW1 · 08/12/2020 17:21

@Overlyanxious
Do you think the scan is a sign that you have a milder case ? Im glad your feeling a bit better. Sounds like you should look into acupuncture too! I went with an open mind to it , no harm in trying. I suffer with painful heavy periods also so hopefully it will help with that.
Well AF is due Thursday so decided not to drive myself crackers testing. If AF doesnt turn up thurs a FRER test will give me an accurate result by then. I just used a cheap test but the V.V faint line appeared within the 3 min test time. I just thought it would be much darker by 12 dpo...so not that hopeful.
Thought we would take a laid back approach this month with the trying, want to try and enjoy xmas after such a crap year. My next fertile window is christmas week.
Xx

whatever1980 · 08/12/2020 19:46

Hi everyone hope you're all okay

@MgW1 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

@Overlyanxious glad you're feeling more positive and things seem to be moving quickly for you which is great no hanging around.

Is acupuncture relaxing? I had it about 12 years ago at a yoga retreat but can't remember much about it but I've heard great things.

I'm just apart to depart with another £20 for my 2 week supply of ubiquinol 😶

MgW1 · 08/12/2020 20:04

@whatever1980
Id try acupuncture but you need to do the 6 week course. I have a lady who specialises in fertility. She says il be preg in 3 months so lets just see 🤣 xx v. Relaxing x

Loladoodle · 08/12/2020 20:38

@selina37 af arrived today .. on to cycle 10
How are you?

@MgW1 🙏 for a stronger positive

Hope everyone else is ok. I’m going to just enjoy Christmas now and not even think about it this cycle! 🥂 🎅🏻

Kitekat81 · 08/12/2020 22:13

@Overlyanxious I'm glad you are feeling a bit better about things. That's great that you've got your referral so will hopefully get more information and support now.

@MgW1 I'm really interested in how you get on with the acupuncture! Do you mind me asking how much it costs? Was it easy to organise? Maybe I'll try it in the new year if I'm not pregnant by then!

I'm a bit uncertain of my ovulation date this cycle due to skipping the opks and only having bbt to go on, but I think I'm either 8, 9 or 10 dpo. So that means af due fri, sat or sun. If I don't catch this cycle my next fertile week is the christmas week as well.

selina37 · 09/12/2020 07:27

Ah sorry @Loladoodle 😞 We are very in sync, mine arrive yesterday too 🙄

Onto next cycle... I'm thinking about DTD every other day, instead of everyday of FW so as to wait for sperm to build up slightly. At least wait until I feel the ovulation pains and then go for it, on the basis I heard ovulation is about 12 hours (at least) after such pain... 🤔

Tillybabs · 09/12/2020 07:48

Morning ladies. So my AF has arrived today (I think) after being 2 days late! So annoying.

This is now my third proper cycle since being off the pill.

I hope everyone is ok x

Overlyanxious · 09/12/2020 08:08

@MgW1 hopefully it’s because it’s a milder case. I think they need to test for other things as well though. I actually have acupuncture booked in for tomorrow. It’s not with a fertility specialist but I saw this guy just before lockdown and I liked him - he explained everything he was doing.

I think I’m out this month as just had some spotting. I normally get this a day before af. I’m not as fussed this month as would like to see what the specialist says. We all seem quite in sync.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you @Kitekat81
