@MrsB2019x last month hit me harder too for some reason! I'm just plodding on.. finished work for the week now, not that we can do much 😂 I think I've realised that it is going to take time and the thing that's affecting me most is that everyone else seems to be getting pregnant 🤦🏻‍♀️
I also don't feel too bad whenever I'm not around someone who has just announced their pregnant - although that isn't going to work long term, it isn't too bad during lockdown.

kirinm · 11/11/2020 15:09

Oh @claireb7rg what a hard position to find yourselves in. If you did want to go down the further testing route, is there anything that can be done to help Mr RG?
Is there any reason you wouldn't want to try IVF if it was offered? Just too much stress to put you both under?

I often find myself reading the adoption board on here - I don't plan on adopting but I do find it really fascinating. Have you had a read?

Potentially / potentially not. They want him to do another SA but on site and they will freeze it as a back up. They want to refer him to urulology to see if there is anything they can do but she wasn't hopeful with his results so far. They won't consider ivf if urology can't do anything. We also wouldn't get NHS ivf if my ovarian reserve isn't great. Being 41 I'm already getting close to the cut off (42) and we'd only get 1 cycle.

We're not sure we want to put ourselves through all the pain and heartache of getting to ivf for it to have such a high chance of failing. There's also no guarantee that if I got pregnant through ivf that it would lead to a baby as chances of miscarrying are higher at my age and with an underactive thyroid like I've got.

We think we would rather have the heartache now of not going that route and try adoption. Plus we also want 2 so with ivf we'd still potentially have to go down the adoption route and then run the risk of one child feeling left out. If we adopt we could get siblings so we have that thought.

I've spent a lot of time on the adoption board and have listened to an adoption podcast and got some books about it.

We'll have a big think over the next few days and make a decision

kirinm · 11/11/2020 15:42

I can totally understand that. I'm not even sure I'm prepared to check my ovary reserve to be honest. The stress of trying to conceive starts to take too much of a toll and the stats for women of my age are not good.

I don't know anything about the adoption process but it strikes me as a fantastic thing to do.

Egg reserve not ovary reserve!

MrsB2019x · 11/11/2020 18:00

Oh Claire, what a position to find yourselves in, poor Mr RG too. Is he coping okay? I guess although the results aren’t really what you wanted, you know where you stand. My stepbrother and his wife have just adopted a pair of siblings, one was 2 and the other about 10 months. They have found it hard but they are doing amazingly. I work for a contact service and we often move children on for adoption, PM me if you have any questions ☺️ hope you are okay lovely xx

@whambam89 Everyone is falling pregnant atm aren’t they?! I got pregnant at the start of the first lockdown so I’m hoping I do again now we’re in another 😂

@claireb7rg I'm really sorry to hear that ❤️. I hope your OH is ok too. Is it an option to use donor sperm with your egg perhaps?

I think he is ok, we had sort of come to the same decision before we had the call, the call sort of reinforced the decision if that makes sense

I don't think he'd go for it plus I'm not 100% sure of my egg quality / quantity. I had thought of it though.

I think it's the invasiveness of the further tests and then the possibility of ivf. Neither of us want to put the other through it

whambam89 · 11/11/2020 19:24

@MrsB2019x I'm not even kidding when I say 8 close friends / family members have announced pregnancies since June. There's basically no one left to get pregnant but me 😂 hopefully you get some lockdown luck 🤞

whambam89 · 11/11/2020 19:24

@claireb7rh so sorry that it wasn't the news you wanted to hear! I really hope you're both doing ok xxx

kirinm · 12/11/2020 13:22

My chances of early testing are scuppered for next week (which is no bad thing). We are having some building work done and that will be underway by next Tuesday (7dpo) and I can't go around analysing tests and standing by windows all day when someone else is here.

@SS123456 when are you going to test?

SS123456 · 12/11/2020 13:39

@kirinm I'm hoping to hold out until Monday (10dpo) but I will likely test at the weekend knowing me 😂. AF will be due on the 19th as I usually have a 12 day LP so I guess not technically toooooo early lol. How about you? Will you wait until AF is due after the work has been done?

kirinm · 12/11/2020 13:46

I'd like to say yes but I know I can't be trusted! I think if I start to feel pregnant I'll test but if not, try and avoid it. I've only got the cheap IC anyway and they give convincing shadows all the time so pretty pointless.

SS123456 · 12/11/2020 13:50

I dangerously have 4 frers in the house so I bet I'll use! I kept all my tests from last months bpf so no doubt i'll line them up against those too 😂

SS123456 · 12/11/2020 13:53

I've stupidly convinced myself that I will be really fertile following the mc and I know it's going to make my disappointment so much harder. I keep trying to tell myself that whilst @Sansa87 fell straight away after (I believe) she also fell pregnant in her first month ttc too so I'm unlikely to follow her lead when I am 14 months ttc. My brain isn't accepting the logic at the mo though and just clinging to hope!

Sansa87 · 12/11/2020 14:14

@SS123456 I did fall first time with oh, but I also tried for 9 years with my ex, so whilst he did have a low sperm count, I made lots of changes in preparation for ttc with current oh.

Keep a little bit of hope, but it’s also sensible to stay grounded ❤️

I hope it is true for you. Fingers crossed!
SS123456 · 12/11/2020 15:45

Thanks @Sansa87 and @kirinm ❤️. I know it's unlikely I'll get a bfp this month but it is going to devastate me more this time around post mc I think

whambam89 · 12/11/2020 17:06

@SS123456 really hoping you do get another BFP this month 🤞

Anyone who uses it, pregnacare is 48% off on Amazon black Friday deal, I did subscribe and save and got an extra 15% off so just got a pack for £4.36 - bargain!

SS123456 · 12/11/2020 18:30

Thanks @whambam89 ❤️

That's a good deal! I have been giving proceive a go the last few months but I do have the pregnacare pregnancy ones as well

whambam89 · 12/11/2020 19:29

@SS123456 I've been using the seven seas ones because I thought pregnacare were a bit expensive but for that price may as well give them a try!

SS123456 · 12/11/2020 22:33

@whambam89 definitely!

@Rotagilla I'll be thinking of you tomorrow ❤️ x
