We haven't told either of our families were TTC, so yesterday I had a very well meaning chat with my mother in law where she said she was supportive of women's choice not to start a family. And that I shouldn't feel like she wants another grandchild because if I'm happy, she's happy.

Again, well meaning and lovely but ughhh.

kerrym87 · 06/12/2020 14:34

Were in tier 3, was in tier 2 before national lockdown despite having lower numbers than when we went in. @Tofu35 I feel for you, I get asked at work (I work on baby unit) if I have kids alot and parents are really surprised when I say I haven't yet. And when we could travel stayed at mother in laws and she said the saying goes new bed new baby !(they'd got new furniture in that room). They know now though. My sister had fertility issues and failed ivf so she's been a great support so I'm lucky in that respect. I dunno whether people are not going to GP thinking that cos of COVID departments aren't open as that's quick for my area (I'm south tees/Middlesbrough in north east)

notyetamumbuttrying · 06/12/2020 15:34

@Tofu35 wow that must've been tough! My side of the family know but his doesn't. We're telling them on Boxing DayConfusedas Dh wants to say face to face about the ivf referral and that's the next time we're seeing them!
@kerrym87 well done you, doing that job and ttc, how bloody difficult that must be day in and day out! I'm glad you have your sister for support and who understands. One of my sisters is going to do iui next year as she's single and older than me. Might be quite tough if I'm doing ivf at the same time but here's hoping we both have successes!

@Tofu35 my family only know because we had a miscarriage which resulted in me being very unwell due to retained placenta so they needed to know at that point.

@kerrym87 if a new bed meant a new baby I'd buy a dozen 🤣🤣🤣

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah it will be good for them to be aware of the situation :)

I am 7dpo (I think) and honestly haven't given the tww a 2nd thought as I am not feeling well (infection) so just focusing on getting better. Had to take loads of ibuprofen which you arent meant to when ttc but I was in pain and paracetamol did nothing so had no choice!

Tofu35 · 06/12/2020 17:54

Thanks @kerrym87, @annny27 @notyetamumbuttrying. I think if we end up going down the icsi/IVF route, we'll tell the families but it's a funny bit now where I'm waiting to get the hycosy test and then see what our options are. Think part of me still thinks it will happen naturally but as time marches on, it does make me pause.

This message inspired by PMS 😅

notyetamumbuttrying · 06/12/2020 19:32

@Annny27 aww sorry to hear! Hope you feel better soon lovely!

@Tofu35 a very sane msg considering you have pms! I go batshit when I get it 😂

Saw my sister yesterday and she was struggling to breathe, she'd had a cold couple weeks prior, she was convinced it was asthma and didn't want to get a Covid test. Anyway, she ended up going to hospital yesterday as her breathing got so bad, bit of oxygen and she was fine, but she still got swabbed as dr thought there could be traces of Covid there ConfusedShe gets results tomorrow. Dh not very happy with me visiting her now even though she's in our bubble as we have his grandmas funeral to go to next week...what a palaver!

@notyetamumbuttrying, that was my 7th attempt at a balanced message. One sounded like I was staring into the abyss 😂 lot of editing and deleting full replies to get it sounding like that!

Tofu35 · 06/12/2020 19:56

Your poor sister, I hope her results come back ok. Glad the hospital could help her so quickly!

notyetamumbuttrying · 06/12/2020 22:32

@Tofu35 thanks, will update tomorrow!
And we're all kinda staring into the abyss aren't we Confused so bleak ttc, I hate it and never dreamt it would be like this!

OP posts:
Motherofkittens28 · 07/12/2020 14:03

@notyetamumbuttrying bleak is exactly the word! Its also so very lonely, so glad to have this forum to share our journey. I just remember so well my OH saying to me before we started ttc that surely we would have no trouble as he knew a few people in their 40s who had babies. Those occasional stories of people who had no issues get so blown out of proportion because there just isn't enough openess about how hard it can be to have a baby, at any age but particularly in your late 30's.

Hayley19835 · 08/12/2020 09:54

Hi ladies just thought I'd drop in to see how everyone is doing.

After our consult and the news we need ivf/ICSI I've done a lot of research and have contacted our two local clinics for some more advise and to see what our next steps are and what we are looking at in regards to costings as we have to go private. A lot of info to process!

Having a random few cycles gone from 24 days to 21 and now 17 days but I'm taking a cocktail of drugs including nsaids for a prolapsed disc so not going to worry too much at the minute. We are going to press on in the new year with an initial consult and then go from there xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 08/12/2020 14:03

@Hayley19835 good you're pressing ahead! Sorry to about your prolapsed disc, sounds painful! Hope you recover soon x
@Motherofkittens28 you're right about it being lonely too. Thank god for forums like this right! And so true on the lack of openness about how hard ttc can be!
@Tofu35 my sister is Covid free, hurrah!

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/12/2020 14:15

Fertility appointment date through...not until 22nd feb! Feel pretty deflated 😒 further away then I thought it would be and only a few weeks before my 35th bday! 😩 wanted to be well underway by then. Ah well! Hope everyone's ok?! X

OP posts:
Annny27 · 09/12/2020 14:20

@notyetamumbuttrying is that date when the ivf will start?

I have a fertility appointment in February where I assume they will refer us to ivf if we haven't conceived by then!

Tofu35 · 09/12/2020 14:27

The clinic I'm going to for the hycosy only offers this service on a Thurs, and they want me to be around day 8 of my cycle. Which would be fine but my period is a few days late. So I may miss next Thursday...but the following Thursday is Christmas Eve?
I think we should have really had a look at the calendar before we picked December to pay for this scan. Annoyed that our 'month off TTC' may have been for nothing if we can't get to the clinic on that day! Eek.

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/12/2020 18:14

@Annny27 no, just the start of it all. So another SA, check my AMH and sign the forms for the funding.
@Tofu35 oh that is annoying. Hope you can get round it somehow.

OP posts:
Narwhal88 · 09/12/2020 20:28

@notyetamumbuttrying sorry your appointment date is quite far away, that is frustrating 😞 is that with the NHS IVF unit? I'm sure it will come round quickly once Christmas is over.

@Annny27 is that your first fertility appointment I can't remember? Hopefully you won't need it 🤞🏼

@Tofu35 argh periods never come when you need them to! Hopefully it turns up tonight.

Motherofkittens28 · 09/12/2020 21:18

@notyetamumbuttrying thats frustrating that its a while to wait. I'm sure it will come round quick though, time is whizzing by at the moment

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/12/2020 21:26

@Narwhal88 thanks hun. Yeah nhs ivf so I shouldn't have expected any sooner, but my hopes were up cos of the urologists forthrightness! Ah well.
@Motherofkittens28 I truly hope so! It just means Dh will be 38 by the time we go and I'll be 4 weeks off 35! It's such a landmark age for me and ttc as I thought I'd have a baby by then when this is all started, plus it's the next age bracket in the ttc world!
Hope you're both ok?!

OP posts:
Annny27 · 10/12/2020 09:01

@notyetamumbuttrying it takes so long doesnt it :( it will be worth it in the end but very painful in the waiting period

@narwhal88 its our 2nd appointment. I have had the ultrasound, blood tests and husband has had SA. I really don't wsnt to have the hsg test but it probably needs to be done :S have you definitley been referred for ivf now?

notyetamumbuttrying · 10/12/2020 09:06

@Annny27 I really do hope so. My mental health is taking a right knock at the moment. Don't know how I'll cope if ivf doesn't go well!
Is hsg the next thing before they'll refer you for ivf?

OP posts:
kerrym87 · 10/12/2020 09:39

Feeling for you all with your delays and frustrations with investigations. People don't realise the mental health impact of infertility. I'm hoping to cheekily ask gr8 some eyes, I'm trying to book in bloods for cd1-5 but at moment I'm a bit confused about my chart and ovulation....had a slow rise then a jump, does anyone mind taking a look? I'm not sure if ovulated yesterday or a few days before, means I'm due on boxing day if yesterday as have 15 day luteal phase. Darker pink is ewcm btw I'm chart. Thanks guys

Oh and had sensitive boobs from CD 19

Motherofkittens28 · 10/12/2020 11:28

@notyetamumbuttrying I know what you mean about 35, I was single at 35 and I had my eggs frozen about 2 weeks after my 35th birthday just in case. Now I'll be 39 on 1st Feb, its scary! Im still hopeful about this cycle but it makes me feel a bit silly, why would this one be any different to all the other failed months. AF due Monday so we shall see

Narwhal88 · 10/12/2020 13:31

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm ok thanks, my mood goes up and down. Still secretly hopeful each month then get crushed again. CD6 today, nearly in fertile window (though clearly not very fertile!!)

@Annny27 the HSG isn't too bad don't worry. It was basically a smear test with 3 people in the room lol. Yes I was referred for IVF end of November and the clinic called me 2 days later! Appointment is 23rd Dec. I've heard they then need to request the funding from CCG and that can cause a delay though. Hopefully it won't be too long.

@kerrym87 I would say the 9th looking at the temps but it's hard to tell until you get to the end of the cycle!

Are you all getting the covid vaccine? I am NHS staff so will be offered it but the guidance is not to if you are ttc within the next 3 months. However I then may end up waiting a very long time as I will always be ttc/ ivf or hopefully pregnant.
