TTC #1, cycle 13 and fed up! Whose with me?

Hello. So AF arrived yesterday which means I'm officially on cycle 13 of TTC. I'm a healthy 28 year old with husband whose 33. We've had 2 chemical pregnancies in the time we've been actively trying. We are just waiting on our dates for blood tests and SA for husband.

Needless to say I'm bloody fed up! Had 3 friends announce pregnancy news in the last week, and one friend is due in 4 weeks. TTC is definitely starting to take its toll on both of us and the realisation that something may be wrong is starting to sink in.
Who else is having similar? Please feel free to share/rant!

@monday55 I bet you're pleased to see your peak although with that brings the looonnng tww! What cd are you? Is this the day you usually ovulated on?

Bloods were fine, it was a nurse who done them so no chat about fertility or anything, she just said results should come back Tuesday or Wednesday, I asked if GP would ring me and she said only if there's anything out of the ordinary. Hope the GP rings me regardless though so I can have another chat about what the next steps are depending on the results, regardless though I would like to get the day 3 bloods done as hear a lot of people get these early on in investigations.

I'm 7dpo today, AF due either Saturday or Sunday. I've only ever tested on one cycle, when I was 10 days late (turned out to be just an unusually long cycle), I'm really good and won't test until AF is late, which it never is, but this month i am soo tempted for some reason. I bought something off Amazon a few month ago and only got free delivery if I spent over £20 so randomally bought some First Response tests which I haven't even opened the envelope but I am soo tempted!!

BeachPeach · 12/10/2020 13:32

Hi all, sounds like a bunch of us are about to get bloods done/hear back. Thanks @dogmam for the explainer.

My OH booked to have a SA done and he’s having a blood test before they do a SA. Anyone else’s partners had a blood test done prior to a SA? Seems weird to me but maybe connected to his testicular cancer history 🤔

Hope those of you waiting on blood results get good news and those of you waiting for AF get a pleasant surprise this month ☺️

Monday55 · 13/10/2020 15:56

@dogmam today I'm on CD14 last month I ovulated on CD13 and the cycle before that on CD12, it pretty much varies month to month.

Theawkwardblonde · 13/10/2020 22:12

How's everyone getting on here? Im awaiting blood test results. Trying not to get anxious but finding it hard not to overthink things!

@Theawkwardblonde me too, so many what ifs, and it’s only my first lot of bloods! Were they your day21 ones? Or just an initial test?

Theawkwardblonde · 14/10/2020 10:14

@BeachPeach they were my day 21s. They're the first set of bloods I've had done too.

strawberrysummer19 · 14/10/2020 10:28

I've had CD21 which came back good

I'm waiting on fsh lr and AMH and rubella which is the ones my consultant has ordered for me but I don't get those results back until my next scheduled appointment to discuss all the tests Ive had done (hycosy and pelvic scan) so frustrating those bloods are there but I can't have them until my next app - 3rd nov!

Not long to wait I know but all has been good so far and after these tests not sure what they can do for me

X

CurbsideProphet · 14/10/2020 13:26

Hello all 👋🏻 I've been quiet lately.
I had more in depth bloods done and my GP suspects pcos because of slightly raised testosterone and androgen. She thinks I'm ovulating some cycles but not others. My NHS fertility appointment isn't until January (which would be 15 months ttc / many more cycles) so I've decided to see the same specialist privately - by phone because of restrictions here, but it's better than nothing.
In the meantime I'll keep going to acupuncture and keep with my eat less / move more lifestyle improvement.

GP has offered SA for DH, but as we're 35mins drive to the lab at the hospital (and then parking time and walking to the lab) we need to discuss logistics before we book that in. Has anyone else's DH done a SA? Even my GP said she didn't know why our nearest smaller hospital didn't do SA, considering you need to get it to the lab within 60mins. It's like an extreme Taskmaster task - "Get your jizz in this tub and drive it 15 miles. You have one hour. Your time starts now" Confused

Cha0907 · 14/10/2020 14:13

Hello 👋🏼

Sorry I have been MIA again. Really busy with work and I am knackered all the time!

AF arrived Monday so plucked you the courage to call my GP. Spoke with them yesterday and being referred to gynaecology because of some previous issues I had to see what they say regarding TTC and also to go for bloods on day 21. Feels like a massive relief finally speaking to someone about everything and getting the ball rolling! Also told my partner he needs to call his GP too :)

@CurbsideProphet that does seem like a palava for your partner to get the SA done. Surely there must be skmewhere closer!

@Theawkwardblonde fingers crossed everything ok with your bloods 🤞🏻

CurbsideProphet · 14/10/2020 17:06

@Cha0907 nope apparently that's the only lab we can go to in our area! My GP even said that there must be desperate men trying to find a quiet layby somewhere along the way.

BeachPeach · 14/10/2020 18:54

@CurbsideProphet haha, the Taskmaster challenge has cracked me up, we’ve got a similar situation here, my OH thinks cycling to hospital with a cup of jizz is the way to beat the traffic - could be messy 😆

So I got my bloods results today, which consisted of the following text from the health centre: “the result of your recent test is satisfactory, no further action is required”. WTAF!? Satisfactory as in, it’s definitely human blood? Satisfactory as is, I don’t have any tropical diseases? Or satisfactory as in I’m fertile as fuck? 🙃 Feels like such an uphill battle to get our GPs to take us seriously, even though we’ve been trying for nearly 2 years and OH has had testicular cancer. Guhhhh!

Hoping those of you also waiting on bloods get a less cryptic (read: fucking useless) result!

Cha0907 · 14/10/2020 18:55

@CurbsideProphet haha I laughed there 😂😂 the doc i spoke with was male and said at the end of the call 'well in the meantime you and your partner keep doing what your doing' 😂😂

Rosie189 · 14/10/2020 19:44

@Cha0907. I finally go the courage today to call and book a gp appointment. I had some initial bloods last year which were all normal but I have really heavy and sometimes irregular periods so hoping I can have some further investigations.

SR12 · 14/10/2020 20:14

Hey all I have been reading through the comments here and as bad as it probably sounds it’s so nice to hear from people in similar situations and feeling fed up like me!

I’m 38 (just turned Grin) and me and OH have been trying for a bit over a year. I had a miscarriage two years ago and we didn’t want to try straight away but kind of wish we had now! I’ve struggled a lot with my GP surgery being very unhelpful and getting various bloods wrong etc (I know how stressed they all are at the moment) so we bit the bullet and did a private investigation the other week. Had our results on Tuesday and OH sperm concentration was a bit below average but aside from that everything else seemed fine - expect for the fact I’m old as I kept being told and my eggs would be mature Wink

Every month I hate the wait until AF appears - it’s the stage I’m in at the moment. It seems like such a long stretch and every month filled with disappointment. I think I often start imaging pregnancy symptoms whilst I wait! It’s hard as my 6 best friends all have kids and are just having their seconds and I can’t even make it past the first hurdle! We’ve been told because of my age we should look at IVF but I’m not sure I’m ready to try just yet but maybe I’m kidding myself.

Anyway nice to meet you all and will follow all your journeys with my fingers crossed for you x

Theawkwardblonde · 14/10/2020 22:05

@SR12 welcome! You're in good company here. Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon.

@Rosie189 let us know how you get on.

@BeachPeach what a nightmare! You'd think they'd be more helpful about your results. What on earth does that all mean? Are they doing any additional follow up?

@CurbsideProphet totally understand your frustrations but by god the taskmaster thing destroyed me 🤣🤣 do you mind me asking how much it's costing seeing the specialist privately? No worries if not. We are debating private for additional testing.

OP posts:
CurbsideProphet · 15/10/2020 10:16

@Theawkwardblonde no I don't mind saying at all. £200 for the initial consultation and £150 for follow up appointments. I've had bloods and scan on the NHS, so this is the best option for me. I'm on the NHS list to see the same specialist in January, so I'm hoping to start with him now privately and then switch to NHS. Obviously that depends on whether NHS services are going ahead by then.
I have Simply Health and can claim some costs back, so the initial appointment will actually cost me £50.

Hi @SR12 👋🏻 We're all here feeling fed up too! I'm sorry about your miscarriage. I had a very early one at new year. I just always thought we would start dtd regularly at the right time and that would be that. It feels very unfair that this hasn't been the case!

CurbsideProphet · 15/10/2020 10:19

@Cha0907 "keep doing what you're doing" 😃 I've noticed that the GPs I've spoken to tiptoe around politely to avoid saying SEX or SPERM. The GP I've spoken to now is more straight talking, but even she talked about DH having a "sample tested" and we should "keep trying" in the meantime.

BeachPeach · 15/10/2020 11:53

Hi @SR12 and welcome! Sorry you’ve had an unhelpful experience with your GP too.

@Theawkwardblonde I’m not sure really, going to ring them today and ask what’s next as I’m sure if I don’t then nothing will happen. OH is having his bloods next week but lord knows what they’re looking for? Anyone else’s OH had bloods?

@CurbsideProphet thanks for sharing your experience of going privately, I’m increasingly thinking it might be the way forward if I actually want things to progress, GPs not filling me with confidence.

I’m so glad I’ve found this thread to see I’m not alone in my frustration and confusion, thanks guys ☺️

HbSapphy · 15/10/2020 12:51

Hi all. I'm totally late to this party but Can I please hop in anyway!!
We've been ttc #1 for 11 months and had a Mmc in sept. I'm Pretty emotional at the moment as I have tingly tummy and my cervix has all but disappeared and so Google will tell me I'm likely pregnant but the tests are saying no. I'm not usually hormonal when AF arrives so what's going on!

Waiting for AF to arrive but no signs of that. Now about 5+3 weeks after Mmc and we've been trying steadily all month and I don't know whether to test every time I pee or get the tampons out and down a huge glass of wine.

dogmam · 15/10/2020 15:13

Hi, not posted in a couple days as I've just been waiting for the results of 21 day bloods (seems like we are all at very similar stages which is nice.. shit situation, but nice we are in it together 🙃) anyway, got the bloods on Friday and not heard anything back so just rang them and spoke to a receptionist who read 'high chance of ovulation', I asked what the number was and it was 56.8, apparently anything over 30 suggests ovulation has occurred. So that's one thing ticked off the list.
My other halfs SA appointment letter (and pot LOL) arrived in the post today. Appointment is for the 28th, but really it's just when he has to drop the 'sample' and schedule the wank! So the rules on the letter are, it needs to be dropped off within an hour, it needs to be kept close to the body under clothing during transportation, sex should be absthained from 3-5 days prior to test date (bang goes the plan of doing SMEP next month 🙃) and finally in capital letters THE USE OF A PUBLIC TOILET TO COLLECT YOUR SAMPLE IS AGAINST THE LAW.. I admit I'm so immature about the whole SA thing so this made me smile.

So current situation is waiting for the 28th and the results then u guess depending on what they are going back to the GP? But either way, if they're good or bad results we still aren't getting pregnant so what next?! I haven't been offered day 3 bloods so not sure if I should ask for them or not.

In other news.. CD10 today and just started spotting. Fan-fecking-tastic. Thought I was gonna be one of those people who struggle for a year then just get the ball rolling with investigations but by some miracle manage to fall.. But no.

Hope you are all ok 😁

SR12 · 15/10/2020 15:21

Oh its all such a minefield isn't it! It took my body quite a while to get back to normal after my miscarriage but I know a lot of people conceived really quickly after.

I am currently in the waiting for AF wishing and imaging pregnancy symptoms! I have 30 day cycles so always feels like such a wait after ovulation. We only managed one try this month as OH had to do his sperm analysis which fell at the wrong time so I know my chances are incredibly slim but you can't help have that hope. This month 7/8 days after ov I've had cramps and tingling in my lower left stomach so of course have been googling it all but now I have lower left back pain instead!! I daren't do an early test as just hate having hope dashed!

For anyone thinking of going privately honestly I would recommend it. The wait just really got to me - especially as I feel on borrowed time - and I just felt like I wanted to know to be able to then move forward a bit and plan.

Theawkwardblonde · 16/10/2020 08:13

@HbSapphy hello and welcome!

@dogmam I would have chuckled at the public toilet thing 😂😂 I'm waiting on results of bloods too. Is spotting on CD10 usual for you?

@SR12 Im definitely debating private. I'm due next week and I'm literally analysing everything. However I already know I'll be out 😞

How is everyone doing? Im due AF in 5 days s as he I'm already defeatist and know there won't be a positive. Does anyone else find that you just resign to the fact it'll be a negative? 😂 I know that sounds so pessimistic but I just can't get my hopes up anymore!

OP posts:
SR12 · 16/10/2020 10:12

I definitely resign myself to it being negative but at the same time still put myself through looking for any little symptom and still double check my test as if wishing it will suddenly magically make it positive! This month I had especially said to myself not to feel any hope as we only managed once within ovulation but because I had pain a week or so after ovulation I think I was trying to get my hopes up it could be implantation! I am due AF on the 20th and have any symptoms so pretty sure I am out, again, for another month.

@dogmam that made me chuckle as well! We went private with my OH for that part as we were having to wait so long for even the test and then they said 2 weeks for results. I was starting to stress so much about it (my business has massively reduced over corona so have far to much time on my hands which I am not used to!) and because of my age I decided I just wanted to know if we were wasting out time and stressing ourselves out trying. I am now trying to get a scan done via NHS but even trying to get a phone consultation for my bloods is a nightmare!

@HbSapphy totally know that feeling. Fingers crossed for you.

@BeachPeach my OH has had his bloods done, they look for stuff like hormones abnormalities

CurbsideProphet · 16/10/2020 10:37

I'm due AF in 6 days and am convinced it will be negative. Obviously I've been consulting Dr Google while I wait for my phone appointment with the specialist. I'm hoping he will prescribe Clomid to make sure that I'm definitely ovulating.

Monday55 · 16/10/2020 13:03

As I ovulated on CD14 this month I called to change my bloods from 19th to 20th October which will be cycle day 21.

I'm currently 3dpo and only have 1 HCG strip test left from last cycle which is not very sensitive, so I have to wait until at least12dpo if I'm hoping for a squinter. Something always overcomes me when I get to 10dpo, my patience runs wild and I start testing everyday from 10dpo. I'm not planning to buy any replacement strip tests until 14dpo (I say that every cycle though Grin )
