TTC #1, cycle 13 and fed up! Whose with me?

Hello. So AF arrived yesterday which means I'm officially on cycle 13 of TTC. I'm a healthy 28 year old with husband whose 33. We've had 2 chemical pregnancies in the time we've been actively trying. We are just waiting on our dates for blood tests and SA for husband.

Needless to say I'm bloody fed up! Had 3 friends announce pregnancy news in the last week, and one friend is due in 4 weeks. TTC is definitely starting to take its toll on both of us and the realisation that something may be wrong is starting to sink in.
Who else is having similar? Please feel free to share/rant!

@CurbsideProphet yep, the worst! Gosh if I've not given birth by this time next year then we are moving to the Caribbean 😂 I'm gonna be on some sort of pregnancy mission next year! I hope you get your well deserved pregnancy too my love x

Rosie189 · 22/12/2020 16:47

Just had my second lot of day 21 bloods done also showing no sign of ovulation and told to repeat next cycle 😫😫😫

notyetamumbuttrying · 22/12/2020 17:07

@Rosie189 will they not give you clomid or you already on it? X

Theawkwardblonde · 22/12/2020 20:01

@CurbsideProphet if you wouldn't mind PMing me the name that would be fab! The price I receive definitely seems high.

@Rosie189 that sucks. Have the doctors said they have any plans if the thirds bloods sow an issue?
Hope you don't mind me asking-are your periods etc regular?

OP posts:
Rosie189 · 22/12/2020 21:04

@notyetamumbuttrying no not been put on anything basically told to just repeat bloods. Not sure why I need 3 cycles of no ovulation to show an issue.

@Theawkwardblonde no they haven’t. Initially they said if there was an issue that would be looked at/referral but it seems just to be repeat the bloods again and again now. Think they said if everything was normal I’d have to wait longer for a referral.
My periods aren’t regular. They used to be pre pill. I’ve been off the oil l for probably 2.5-3 years now and since then been irregular. In the past year they’ve all been 27-35 days though, apart from cycle I got first bloods on which was 42 days. Just not sure what I’m meant to achieve by repeating them next cycle. I’ve asked to repeat them tomorrow as I think I’m now a week post ovulation and may have been 2 days post on the blood sample I had.

Think I need to book another appointment with the dr. I’m so rubbish at being pushy though.

CurbsideProphet · 24/12/2020 17:49

@Rosie189 could you book a telephone appointment and prepare what to say in advance?
Eg "We've been ttc for X months and as per NHS guidance I now need to be referred to the fertility clinic at X hospital for further investigation".
Obviously check the NHS guidelines first and have them ready to quote.
Only an NHS or private fertility clinic can test AMH and when I had my private appointments they told me an internal scan, AMH bloods, and sperm analysis are the next steps from 21 day bloods.

You can do this 💐

notyetamumbuttrying · 24/12/2020 21:05

@Rosie189 @CurbsideProphet is right! Do this. You only need to be ttc for 12 months to get all investigations done. Defo quote the nhs guidance at them. Good luck!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone xx

Rosie189 · 24/12/2020 23:00

@CurbsideProphet @notyetamumbuttrying I managed to get a second blood sample yesterday and that showed I had ovulated. So I’m relieved. Was getting a bit worried I’d had no sign of ovulation two cycles running. DH booked for sperm analysis mid jan so going to try and get a drs appt in new year and see what our next steps are.

I think it’s cause I work in a medical field and know how frustrating it can be to be told how to do your job as someone’s been on google. Lol.

Hope you all have as nice a Christmas as you can. Thanks for all the support!

CurbsideProphet · 28/12/2020 17:42

Good luck @Rosie189 💐

How is everyone? I hope you've all enjoyed Christmas despite everything. We've been Tier 3 since October so we've had no social gatherings at all. I'm relieved as if we were in normal times we would have to go to MILs with DH's brother and pregnant sister in law at new year 🙁 I would obviously be the picture of politeness and be very happy for them, but really I would find it unbearable.

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/12/2020 18:07

@Rosie189 glad things are moving along now and yay to confirming ov! Hope you had a nice Christmas 🎄
@CurbsideProphet all good thanks, you? These tiers have been a blessing in disguise sometimes, glad you enjoyed your Christmas, we did too thanks!

I swore I wouldn't use opk's from now on but CB were on offer in boots today so poas earlier! 🙈

CurbsideProphet · 30/12/2020 14:38

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm just counting down to my appointment next week with a Consultant at the IVF clinic. The appointment is via Skype which is a bit of a stress as if he's late I'll be sat there worrying I've done something wrong with the Skype app 😬 but hopefully I'll find out the time scales / plan.

1st Jan and 2nd Jan are the 1 year anniversary of me getting a bfp and then losing the pregnancy as quickly as it begun, so I just want to get passed that now.

notyetamumbuttrying · 30/12/2020 17:11

@CurbsideProphet I'm sure it'll go well!
Ah yeah can appreciate that. Not really a time for celebration but defo look forward to a successful pregnancy in 2021!! 🤞🏾

Theawkwardblonde · 31/12/2020 13:38

Hope you're all doing good ladies! Been MIA again due to working all of Christmas etc.

@CurbsideProphet the tiers have come in handy for some things the ! It's got me out of seeing all my pregnant friends. Which sounds awful, but it's really helped my mental health. Sending hugs for the anniversary. Ours will be April and it's already got me anxious. I just sit and think "we would have had a kid by now" which doesn't help things 😞

@notyetamumbuttrying I said I wasn't going to use opks this month and take a break. But there I was peeing on every opk I could manage 😂😂

I'm in the 2ww now but not hopeful. I've been on night shifts for over a week at Christmas and DH on opposite shifts so haven't been able to dtd much. Plus trying to muster up energy after nights is very hard 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
Roll on 2021 I say! Or if I could just hibernate for a few months away from all the babies that are due, that would be good too 😂

OP posts:
CurbsideProphet · 01/01/2021 12:52

@Theawkwardblonde I have exactly the same thoughts and it's really difficult not to wander off into sliding doors world and think about what could have been😔
I'm lucky that DH's sister in law is the only pregnancy for me to contend with. It's hard to be happy for everyone else when other couples get pregnant just by looking at each other 😬

Hopefully 2021 brings us all a longed for baby 🤞🏻

thislittlebird · 01/01/2021 15:52

@Theawkwardblonde this is all very relatable. We started trying last October I think, but had to take a break early in the year because I was ill. Not 13 yet, but this month is month 10 and we're over 35 so had the first tests already. So far they're good, one is borderline, so I have to redo that one and then we will be referred to the infertility clinic in the next couple of months. Last month I really thought it might be The Month because my period was 5 or 6 days late which never happens, but alas it was not to be.

The pregnant friends thing is really hard. It hit me pretty hard when I found out two friends were pregnant recently, due close together. I'm pleased for them, just wish I could join them, and I just didn't expect it to effect me so much.

thislittlebird · 01/01/2021 15:55

I've just realised your OP was in September, sorry got confused because I've never interacted before, just lurked previously so still getting up to speed on it all.

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/01/2021 16:15

@Theawkwardblonde the whole thing is insane isn't it! I can't believe I just bought them and used them when I said I wouldn't 🤦🏾‍♀️ah well, at least I was right about ovulation and don't have to worry about that. Rubbish when you don't feel hopeful, how far through tww are you? I'm only 1dpo lol! Have recently read that after my initial appointment at the acu for the ivf funding that it could be another 6 months before we actually start going 😢 didn't realise it was that long, thought it'd be a month naively!
@thislittlebird hi, welcome! Has your Dh had his SA done too? Hope all goes well for you 😊

CurbsideProphet · 01/01/2021 16:55

Welcome @thislittlebird 👋🏻

thislittlebird · 01/01/2021 17:07

Thank you for the welcomes @CurbsideProphet and @notyetamumbuttrying!

@notyetamumbuttrying he has had the SA, yes. It was frustrating because we had them in the summer and the doctor didn't give us the results, the receptionist just said "they're fine" and being novices we didn't ask for a follow up call, but should have. After leaving it for a little while I quizzed them again and one of mine (21 day test) was borderline so I need to redo it, and his was actually fine. I think my borderline is likely fine because I had to take it on a Monday and not on day 21 (a Saturday) but I'll be happy to speak to the experts about it all in the near future, and will make sure to take it on the nearest day this time.

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/01/2021 22:25

@thislittlebird yeah you always have to get the print outs and look for yourself as their normal isn't always normal annoyingly. I'm glad his SA was good though! Have you had a scan done yet? I had that and bloods before being referred off the back DH's bad SA.

ValVal123 · 01/01/2021 22:32

Hello everyone. Not sure if anyone can help me understand something with my body.

(4-5days before period which is Due 28th)
DECEMBER 20th (before faint +) I check my CM and it was a Glob of clear thick stretchy mucus, like I was ovulating🤔 but see I would’ve ovulated already around the 12th of Dec. thought nothing of it. So December 22nd my bf randomly told me to take a test. I laughed and threw the test box back at him. lol.. I then was like what the hey I’ll take it. After peeing on the stick I looked and saw a hard neg line so I got up washed my hands and looked at it again and there was a faint line. I gasped!! Sooo I took 2 more right after drinking water to make me have to pee again. Those came out faint positive. The next day (Dec 23rd) still faint lines. December 24th tried to get a blood year they said don’t waste my money just do a test. Ensured them I did, showered the nurse my test and she CONGRATULATED me on the faint line indicating I’m for sure preg. Dec 25th-28th I STOPPED getting the faint lines & completely negative. I’m very tuned in when it comes to my body, especially my lady parts. During all this I was checking my CM. NEVER EVER bled. Not once, not a lil, no clot, no pinkish/brownish spotting, NOTHING but clear & white. Breast are heavier, frequent urge to pee, tired.. that’s about it that’s Clear. I get a negative blood/urine test from Hospital. Even did a ultrasound yesterday (Dec 31st) It’s January 1st and still no period. Could it have been a chemical pregnancy with just no blood?

P.s no UTI , STD , KIDNEYS good , blood flow to ovaries are good etc

thislittlebird · 02/01/2021 00:15
@thislittlebird yeah you always have to get the print outs and look for yourself as their normal isn't always normal annoyingly. I'm glad his SA was good though! Have you had a scan done yet? I had that and bloods before being referred off the back DH's bad SA.
Yeah, I have learned this lesson (and only partially it seems, because I have no print outs yet, but I will get them once this next test is done). No scan yet, what scan did they give you? Because my period was weird and late last month it's all out of whack so I can't redo the 21 day test until my periods have worked themselves out again. Hoping I'll be able to do it in February and in the meantime we'll keep trying, and then I'll call the doctor again once the results are in and see what's next. Probably a good thing to have a slight delay as I'm worried they'll put me off because of the big cover rates in London right now.

I've ordered myself a CB fertility monitor to try because I couldn't turn cheap OPKs (at least I couldn't many months ago and gave up bothering) but my body does seem to think I'm ovulating, and I get some or all of the signs most of the time EWCM/mittelschmerz/ovulation migraine. Need to work on my EWCM and have been reading tips in this thread about what to drink, which was helpful.

thislittlebird · 02/01/2021 00:24

...or maybe it was on another thread with some of the same guys, I'm thread blind tonight Hmm

Theawkwardblonde · 02/01/2021 00:25

@thislittlebird hello and welcome! 😊

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm only 4dpo and already going mad 😂😂 I know we aren't in with a chance due to minimal dtd. I've got my follow up private consultation next week. Going to request to be transferred to the nhs clinic due to the additional costs that were given to us a few weeks ago. Mental that I've paid essentially a grand for a blood test 🤦🏼‍♀️ 6 months is a long wait. You never know, you may get lucky in that time? 🤞🏻

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 02/01/2021 12:03

@thislittlebird it's a transvaginal scan to see your womb and ovaries look in check. It was ordered for me at the same time as the bloods so had it all within the month.
It prob was this thread with what to drink or it could have been the ttc 12 months one which I set up. Grapefruit juice is the one for ewcm. Also evening primrose oil tablets have been known to help too.
@Theawkwardblonde I'm 3dpo I think and ok at mo. I only go crazy once hormones kick in and I get pms which is about 6-7 days before I'm due on. Can't believe how messed around you've been with all this. So shit! I hope you fair better with the nhs. I've also recently found out that the 6 month wait was only because of Covid delays after the first lockdown so hopefully they'll be no delays and I'll start within 18 weeks, as that's the guideline times.
