@butterfly5291 how about period pants? They are reusable, absorbent etc so would add extra protection. Shethinx is one brand that makes them, there might be others. I haven’t tried them yet as I’m a mooncup and fabric panty-liner girl at the moment, but worth a look!

crazycatlady1981 · 05/10/2020 20:41

@Mia1985x sorry to hear about your brother, that must have been really worrying for you all, glad that he is on the mend now.
Would it put you back if you got the hsg done privately? That doesn’t seem very fair! The nhs fertility system is really confusing though! Hopefully the consultant will have some answers and reassurance.🤞🏻

crazycatlady1981 · 05/10/2020 20:50

@Stabal can you get some time off anyway around the anniversary even if there isn’t a lockdown. It’s a good idea to take some time out.

Crayon7 · 05/10/2020 21:15

@butterfly5291 I would not recommend period pants only because they are black haha but also you do feel "wet". If you know what I mean

I would totally recommend though menstrual cup holds 12h in my case

Stabal · 05/10/2020 21:28

@Mia1985x there's a few pupils and a teacher as of over the weekend but assume as the week progresses there will be more!

@crazycatlady1981 because I work in a school my holidays are all set so I can request time off unless I take it unpaid and doing that causes more hassle with my supervisor than it's worth. It makes coming back in twice as stressful. So I just grin and bear it!

@butterfly5291 I'm with @Crayon7 and @crazycatlady1981 for the menstrual cups. I got one last year and found it brilliant. It even helped to lessen my pain. I was able to go 6-8 hours without emptying (normally every hour or so with pads) and it was such a novelty to move about in work/in bed feeling like I wasn't even on my period! In December I had a particular painful period and the cup was extremely uncomfortable (endo related I think) and I haven't braved it since but I really want to get back to it! There's an online quiz you can take to see what brand and type would be best for you

Stabal · 05/10/2020 21:29

Oh also @Mia1985x I don't think private tests will make a difference to the overall NHS referral but definitely get confirmation on that 🤞🤞

Mia1985x · 05/10/2020 21:41

I've got a menstrual cup still in its box in my drawer and haven't braved it yet. I have such light periods that's maybe why I haven't but I will need to give it a try. Yous have all inspired me so next AF I'm going to give it a go. If only for the environmental benefits.

Also sounds a good idea for a wedding day 👍🏻

Yeah ill speak to consultant tomorrow hopefully and find out if it will have any effect. You read so much conflicting info online. It seems in some instances going private for part of a treatment can cause issues with NHS treatment. Hoping for hsg scan it might be more straightforward and not like we are on ivf waiting list yet so 🤞🏻

butterfly5291 · 05/10/2020 22:47

@LT103 sorry for AF...hope it's not too bad I remember last month you were in pain weren't you?

@Mia1985x hope your brother is feeling better soon.

Thanks for suggestions of menstrual cup...think it's a bit risky for the big day. I managed to find some nice knickers in Calvin Klein today. I went to the McArthur Glen outlet tonight. I also got hubby to be a Michael Kors watch with two additional straps for £109!

@Stabal sorry to hear you're having a rough time, you've really been through it. I definitely wouldn't worry about stupid lockdown rules for scattering your dad's ashes.

@butterfly5291 god last month was awful!! That was just before it started. Thankfully none of that. This is the most Norma cycle I’ve had although luteal phase was a little shorter at 10/11 days. But normal ewcm and no spotting before af. I def think the pregnacare affected my cycle even tho the length didn’t change. All cm stopped and I was spotting for like 6 days before period!! At least it’s more normal now!!

Hope everyone doing ok today

butterfly5291 · 06/10/2020 08:58

@LT103 oh that's good. Fingers crossed for normal cycle. I've stopped taking pregnacare too. Just on folic acid, vit d and omega 3.
@Stabal do you know anything about the coverline on the charts? I don't understand why FF shifted my ovulation date or why my coverline is so high this month.

Stabal · 06/10/2020 10:14

@butterfly5291 what day was it previously saying?

Originalusername6432762 · 06/10/2020 10:31

Hi I’m new here, apologies as I haven’t been able to read all the comments but this seemed a good place to start!

Have been trying to conceive for a while and been in touch with the doctor recently as I’m concerned due to my age. Waiting for a referral but not much joy because of COVID.

Have no health problems (that I know of) and all the waiting is getting very frustrating.

I’m on day 24 of my cycle and I was feeling like this could be the month until getting some cramps last night and now I’m feeling a bit depressed.

I’m sure this all sounds familiar to you but I don’t want to tell too many people I’m trying and everyone else seems to be having babies!

butterfly5291 · 06/10/2020 10:39

@Stabal it was originally CD23 and then when my temp went up yesterday it moved to CD24
My cover line is a lot higher than previous month's too.

Stabal · 06/10/2020 10:53

@butterfly5291 I'd say it's to do with your data not the temperature because you entered a positive OPK on CD24 and it's usually the next day you ovulate plus the fertile CM on CD24 too

Stabal · 06/10/2020 10:53

@butterfly5291 sorry fertile CM on CD25

butterfly5291 · 06/10/2020 11:05

@Stabal AHH that makes sense....this cycle has been mental for loads of us! Be interesting to see if my luteal phase still stays at 14 days!

OP posts:
Stabal · 06/10/2020 11:12

@butterfly5291 it really has. I can't wait to see the outcome for us all 😂 I'm really clumsy, keep dropping everything so and my temp quite high from the coverline so I think I have high progesterone going on right now lol

Iloveoreos · 06/10/2020 11:47

Helloo ladies.. does anyone know or from experience how long it takes to hear back when GP refers you to fertility clinic? Any idea?

stepmumSW5 · 06/10/2020 12:20

@Mia1985x thank you 🌸 I hope your brother is recovering well. Stay safe xx

Originalusername6432762 · 06/10/2020 12:34

@Iloveoreos
My doctor referred me in June. Got a letter from hospital pretty quick but still waiting for an appointment date ☹️

Stabal · 06/10/2020 13:17

@Iloveoreos it can take a while, every area is different. The initial tests can be quite quick but the actual fertility clinic part can take up to a year

Mia1985x · 06/10/2020 13:59

@Iloveoreos mine was so quick. I called gp and had phone appointment and within 2 weeks I had an initial consultation appointment through with fertility consultant. Since then I have had 2 lots of bloods done and OH has had 2 semen analysis done. Next step for me is a HSG scan but waiting list is about 6 months just now so just waiting to hear back from consultant on what effect going private for scan would have on my nhs treatment as I'm due to be referred for ivf at start of 2021. Although I imagine the waiting list for that is massive 🙈
Thats all been in the space of like 6 months for me. But I am over 35 and been TTC for 21 month now so when I first spoke to my GP he said straight referral due to these 2 factors. And like @Stabal also said it can be vastly different wait times from one area to the next.

Iloveoreos · 06/10/2020 14:22

Thanks ladies. I called GP today and she has reffered me to fertility since she looked at my the old data i.e blood tests and a scan dating back to 2015 which said "possible pcos or borderline". i guess since I wasnt ttc back then they ignored it. Im praying I hear back from fertility clinic soon. And also thanku to everyone for sharing their experiences. Given how long wait time is, I think best to get checked ASAP right. Will keep u posted xx

Stabal · 06/10/2020 14:33

@Iloveoreos like @Mia1985x my initial tests were within a couple of months so relatively quickly but they did warn me the route to IVF would be much longer. That's why I keep telling everyone to get the ball rolling ASAP if you've been trying for a year or more because it could be another year before you get any further! Also be warned a lot of places won't even look at you until you provide your OH's sperm analysis as there's so many possible issues with us women that it costs the NHS a lot of money when the problem could just be the sperm. So the quicker you get that sorted the better too

Iloveoreos · 06/10/2020 14:37

@stabal yea totally agree. GP did mention about OH to call his GP too. So doing that.
If it is pcos- then most likely they will prescribe clomid im guessing?
