As soon as AF disappears, which will be soon 🤞 me & my partner will be ttc :)
I've been keeping an eye on my cycles for a little while using the flo app & have been taking pregnacare.
Is there anything else we should know or do to help prepare ourselves? :)
Exited to go on this roller coaster of a journey & as no one knows of our plans would be lovely to hear off people ttc too :) xx

@rosiej95 how are you doing??

rosiej95 · 17/11/2020 11:13

@meganlea that'll teach me not refreshing before I press post haha! Sorry 🙈
I would love to keep it to ourselves until 12 weeks I just really don't think I could haha!
& just thought would be a nice present 😂
Sounds like you've got a good plan 👌🏻

@Amy259 ooo I'm so hoping it flies by for you to Saturday 🎉
App says ovulation is in 2 days
It sounds silly but I only really learned about ovulation when I was looking into ttc up until that point I'd been on the pill for a number of years and obvs didn't listen in sex Ed 🙄😂
But AF has only just gone I wouldn't have thought ovulation would have happened 6 days after AF had gone?
I know the app isn't reliable but how does it choose that's your day?
I still find it all a bit mind blowing tbh 😂

@rosiej95 how long are your cycles? If you don’t add any data to it (like OPKs or temps) the app will just guess your ov day by going 14 days back from the date of your expected next period. So assuming you’ve been tracking your periods, the most common length of luteal phase (days after ovulation but before period) is 14 days so it’ll just predict ovulation day as 14 days before your next predicted period. Does that make sense?

From what you’re saying I’d guess your cycles have been around 27/28 days? So it’s just guessing you ovulate in the middle of that. Whereas mine are 34/35 days, so I ovulate on cycle day 20 (about two weeks before af day). But because luteal phases can vary, that’s why people use OPKs - because if you just assume you ovulate on day 14 but actually it’s say day 17, you couldve stopped dtd and miss it all together. But if you just dtd every 2-3 days between periods, you don’t really need to worry about getting ov exactly right - just don’t stop dtd after your app says you’ve ov because it’s probably not accurate!

Sorry for the long explanation! Hope it helps a bit though..?

meganlea · 17/11/2020 11:35

@Amy259 it's because it's the big decider isn't it, is it, isn't it, I just think it's dead weird that one week you're not pregnant and then one day you just are! I hope in the future they bring out little xray machines so immediately after DTD you can go to the machine like has it worked? Oh no, okay, we'll try again next month! Then no waiting around.......if only eh!!

@rosiej95 yeah I don't think I'd be able to withhold the news from anyone I'd want to shout it from the rooftops!!

Don't you think sex ed was a bit sh*t anyway in the UK? I barely learnt anything about my own body, all I remember was seeing videos about how men change, their erections and how to put a condom on...everything I have learnt about women is self taught thanks to google!

rosiej95 · 17/11/2020 11:43

@Amy259 they average around 30 days
That makes sense! I've been inputting data in them but not as much as I guess I should 🤷🏼‍♀️ will do that this month properly then Thankyou ❤️

@meganlea I so wish there was a machine like that! Haha
Yes totally! That's what I mean never really learnt anything apart from preventing pregnancy 😂 now I'm trying to get pregnant I'm like 🤔 how's this work then 😂😂😂
It's deffo a learning curve haha!

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 12:37

@meganlea that machine would be bloody marvellous!

@rosiej95 your app might be right then, if you have been inputting data! It’s maybe not guessing, but can actually predict

beckyBP · 17/11/2020 14:55

@meganlea yes to that machine, you'd be a rich lady if you could invent it! 😂 TAKE MY MONEY!

@rosiej95 i think the apps work it out ovulation based on 14 days before your next predicted period. My 3 apps (yes, hugely excessive and actually confusing) all have different ovulation dates each month so 🤯

@Amy259 hoping Saturday is a BFP!! Sending positivity your way doll.

@rosieb060 you're incredible for waiting! Got such a good feeling for you, please let us know!

rosieb060 · 18/11/2020 09:38

We tested. We were going to leave it til Friday but did it today (16DPO).

PFP!! Smile

rosiej95 · 18/11/2020 09:48

@rosieb060 you glad you tested earlier now? 😜
Congratulations!! 😍😍
How are you feeling! 😃

Amy259 · 18/11/2020 09:52

Ahhh @rosieb060 I’m so pleased for you!! I had a real good feeling about it after you posted the other day, so glad you tested earlier and get two have two extra days in your BFP bubble 🥰 congrats!!

rosieb060 · 18/11/2020 09:53

@rosiej95 it just doesn't feel quite real to be honest!!

We felt like we'd been trying for ages and so it just felt like- oh, it won't be this month, it's just a late period!

We're going to test again on Friday just to double check Smile

beckyBP · 18/11/2020 10:08

Yaaaaay @rosieb060 so so happy for you!! Congratulations 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

meganlea · 18/11/2020 10:22

@rosieb060 omgggg I also had a feeling especially when you said your muscles felt tired! Congratulations to you and your partner that is incredible news!! :) Just in time for a Christmas surprise for the families!

Now you must share all your secrets from this cycle!! Haha. Did you do anything differently? How long have you been trying/how many cycles in is this? What kind of tracking, if any?

CLP86 · 18/11/2020 10:53

Congratulations @rosieb060 a wonderful Christmas present!

CLP86 · 18/11/2020 10:57

I'm only on month 1 and driving myself nuts second guessing ovulation signs... How do people do this on a long term basis?

I said that I wouldn't but I've just ordered the clear blue digital ovulation test (the purple one) - I'll start after AF as no idea what's happening this month. I'm hoping it'll calm my inner control freak down a bit!

How is everyone else doing? Is anyone else using clear blue?

rosieb060 · 18/11/2020 11:12

@rosiej95 @CLP86 thank you!!

@meganlea I'd been using natural cycles but HATED it. It got all my dates wrong and then changed them afterward. If we'd been relying on their predictions, we'd have missed the window totally. I also found it very stressful to keep BBT every morning.

This month was I think cycle number 4. We probably had a chemical in cycle 1, but I didn't test so it was just a bunch of weird symptoms and then a very very heavy & slightly late period.

This cycle we.... just decided to enjoy each other, to be honest! Which probably isn't particularly helpful, but is true. No measuring, no testing, no tracking. We Relaxed and DTD when either of us wanted to. Took baths, cuddled loads, and just generally chilled out with it all. We DTD a lot this month, including a lot around the week it was most likely to be the best time - but just because we wanted to and it felt goodSmile All this stuff can feel really stressful and we didn't enjoy that.

We tend to cuddle loads afterwards for a good 20m or so. I don't know if that helps but it feels really good!

maudsid · 18/11/2020 14:52

congratulations @rosieb060!!
Have I missed any other BFP's? Thinking of you all often xx

beckyBP · 19/11/2020 14:08

Massive congratulations again @rosieb060 keep us updated.

Think it's just @rosieb060 so far @maudsid how are you doing? Xxx

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 08:53

Morning ladies, how are we all?

@rosieb060 reading about how you guys approached this cycle is the best thing ever - how lovely that your got your bfp the month you just enjoyed each other. Love that! How are you feeling?

@CLP86 I use cheapie OPKs which are much more accurate in pinpointing your peak, but confirm with the CB digital. I’m sure it was this thread that we chatted about it but I’m not 100%.. basically CB always tells me I peak about a day late because it can only be done first thing. It still gives you a fair idea though! Just don’t wait for the static smiley - start bd when it’s flashing.

@maudsid how are you??

Well @meganlea & @beckyBP I caved and tested today on a cheapie.. and there’s definitely the faintest (and I mean FAINT!) of second lines. I won’t be getting my hopes up just yet, but I’ll definitely be testing again tomorrow!

maudsid · 20/11/2020 09:02

@Amy259 that sounds promising, I will cross everything for you this is your month!
@beckyBP where are you in your cycle now? Thinking of you all all the time!
It's been a bit of a challenge to be honest, I have been in and out of hospital with suspected ectopic and then possible pelvic infection both ruled out but the pain has been crippling. They think it is my endometriosis tearing and previous pelvic fractures under pressure (Yay!) also on two different meds for nausea as I lost 8lbs in a week! So not exactly what I had in mind for pregnancy..however I am 8 weeks now and two early scans show baby is doing well despite me not so much haha. Hoping for an ease up in symptoms asap!

meganlea · 20/11/2020 11:37

@rosieb060 Aww they do say cuddling reduces stress massively! We already cuddle a lot but I'm going to make a conscious effort to do this straight after DTD. Even if it doesn't work, who doesn't love a good hug :)

Ahhh @Amy259 that is amazing and sounds promising! They did say you'd be more fertile this month didn't they so hopefully this is it :D Keep us updated, are you going to wait until tomorrow to retest or another cheeky one this evening? I don't think I'd be able to wait!

Aww @maudsid it doesn't sound like you're having a good time, I hope you're not in too much pain/discomfort, plenty of self care and pamper time and I hope it eases up super fast so you can get back to enjoying carrying. xx

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 11:57

@maudsid that sounds like a tough ride! Really pleased to hear baby seems to be doing well even thought they’re putting you through the mill 😂 fingers crossed things start to ease up now 🤞🏻

@meganlea I’m honestly not even sure it’s legit - it was there (and pink, but faint) when I first took it, then I thought it disappeared, now it’s dry it’s faintly there again but obviously could be an evap... so I think I’ll hold off and do a FRER in the morning. I can only be 9dpo at most today, so it could go either way!

beckyBP · 20/11/2020 12:17

Omg @Amy259 do you have a pic? Keeping everything crossed for you. Remember it's still super early so it's ok to be faint!! Keep us up to date.

Hey @maudsid This will be my 6th cycle, just finishing AF which I find just 🤯 I honestly thought I'd be pregnant by now. Never mind.. we go again. It has been the most stressful year of my life tbh.. as I'm sure it had for many!

So sorry to hear you've had a rocky start. That's definitely not what you want but glad to hear baby is well. Hopefully by the second trimester everything will have eased for you and you'll be able to really enjoy it!

I've got to admit ladies we are NOT post DTD cuddles. Never have been! We both wash straight away which I'm obviously not doing atm and I struggle with it.

meganlea · 20/11/2020 12:41

@Amy259 yeah try again in the morning it's still kind of early so another full day should hopefully make it a lot clearer!!

@beckyBP that made me laugh! We're usually like right, done, clean up, get back to your side of the bed, love ya, night! Now whilst TTC, if I don't O whilst DTD, he's getting kicked out straight after so I can finish, lol. Sorry....TMI girls! But I read the muscle spasms you get from an O can help the little swimmers along, I don't think there's a lot of science behind that, if any, but it doesn't hurt to try!

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 14:48

@meganlea it also doesn’t hurt to O so it’s win win really 😂

We’re in the cuddle camp - I love a wee post sex cuddle or snooze!
