@cc81 sorry about your IVF meeting. It’s a good idea to not mention trying to people as it adds pressure. Would you mind sharing your numbers? Totally cool if you don’t want to! I’m getting a day 21 and day 3 blood test done this month.

CurlyNo2 · 22/09/2020 20:35

I'm sorry to hear that @CC81, I suppose you have that confirmation now as to what your options are.

A family friend was told she would have no chance to convince naturally, everything was literally against her! She had a round of IVF and it didn't work, however when she was due to start the process for the second, she found out she had conceived naturally! It was almost as if the IVF has flushed everything out, and kick started the natural process.

So don't ever give up trying naturally, as you don't know what your body is capable of even with the odds stacked up against you 😘 x

Highlandmama · 22/09/2020 21:26

@mummytooneprincess have only just started using the OPKs so can’t recommend much! Boots cheapie ones seem to have worked ok! didn’t want to spend too much! Maybe someone else can advise?

Sorry for those who are out this month. AF due on Saturday for me so feeling vaguely hopeful...but not much trying this month so...🤷‍♀️

@cc81 thanks for sharing and sorry that your results aren’t as you had hoped but totally echo @CurlyNo2 s comments. We think science has it all worked out but there are so many unknowns and lots of positive stories despite quite poor test results. You just don’t know what might happen.

mummytooneprincess · 22/09/2020 21:35

@Highlandmama thanks so much. I've been looking at the boots ones too for the same reason. I'll start with those and upgrade if I need too. I just presumed I ovulated as I have a regular 28 day cycle but having read a fair few threads on here I realise you can't presume anything! Good luck for this week Smile

CurlyNo2 · 23/09/2020 10:34

The witch is banging on my door! So I definitely think I'm out. Feeling ok about it though, think with all the crap going on in the world at the moment I'm happy to wait a little longer.

Hope everyone is OK with the recent announcement. We have gone into a local lockdown as of yesterday 😪

CC81 · 23/09/2020 10:56

Hi all, thanks for your kind words :)

Sometimes I feel fine about it and at other times it really bothers me. I guess that's part of the acceptance/healing process. If we do IVF, we'll look on it as an 'experiment' rather than pin any serious hopes to it.

@CurlyNo2 - Thanks so much for the encouragement. We'll definitely keep trying naturally, in a relaxed sense, probably until the end of next year (I'll be 40 in autumn 2021). All the doctors we've spoken to have said it's "absolutely possible", as physically there's nothing to stop it.

@Internetaddictgirl - No problem at all! My progesterone was fine on the day 21 test, at about 44. All other standard blood results fine too.

But here are the crappy numbers, which indicate low egg supply and are therefore bad news for IVF:

FSH (day 3) = Average of 16.5, based on two tests (should be below 10).
AFC (scan) = 5 antral follicles detected (they prefer to see 9 or more).
AMH = 0.9 (this can be confusing, as people get given different types of measurement - in this case, the consultant said they prefer to see between 1 and 3).

Internetaddictgirl · 23/09/2020 11:15

@CC81 thanks for the numbers - and to know the ranges. I’ve got a blood test booked for tomorrow but my period hasn’t turned up yet, so hoping they can reschedule, the go is so chocka at the moment.

Keepeas · 23/09/2020 11:50

@CC81 thanks for sharing your test results. On paper our numbers are all fine:
Day 3 FSH is 6
Day 21 progesterone is 25 which Dr said is fine but the threshold is 25, so I feel like that is probably where the issue might be, if there is one.
OHs SA were all good.
We're thinking of having a consultation with the fertility clinic, because its been challenging not being able to just talk it through with a dr, they just seem to be focused on the fact that we're not eligible for IVF on the NHS and not what we can do to improve our chances.
We'll keep ttc, but may need to relax a bit on trying to dtd every other day.

Sleeeeeepy · 23/09/2020 20:49

@CC81 I'm sure it doesn't always feel like it but your head is in the right place. I hope that you're able to come to a decision that feels right for you,

I'm sorry the witch got you @CurlyNo2 It seems crackers that the symptoms can be so similar for opposite outcomes ☹️

@mummytooneprincess I've found the femometer ones pretty good, you can get a massive box with some cheapie pregnancy tests off amazon and there's an app that helps interpret the lines

I hope everyone is safe and well x

Also hope everyone is ok. Not great with so many of us being unable to visit others in their homes or have people round. nauseous the last two days, so was feeling hopeful, then felt really nauseous today. Weird metallic taste in my mouth. Have started to feel sick the day before AF last few cycles but AF not due till Saturday? To test or not to test in the morning? Probably wishful thinking...maybe AF will be early.

In other news, the loft is infested with mice courtesy of autumn arriving! DH has been up setting traps with mars bars. I’m not sure which is worse. The scuttling or the snap 😞 not much sleep for me tonight!!

Sleeeeeepy · 23/09/2020 23:11

@Highlandmama oh no!!! I hope you manage to sleep a bit, that would give me the creeps!

Sounding hopeful, I'd definitely test (and then let us know how you get on, everything crossed 🤞🏻)

OP posts:
Highlandmama · 24/09/2020 07:18

Defo negative and not a hint of a line. Feeling even more queasy this morning. Maybe hormones especially crazy this month. Not a good nights sleep. Toddler with the cold, mice scuttling and have just found a bag of soiled clothes in his bag. The nursery did tell me but I forgot. All round excellent start to Thursday 👌 hope others have better luck this month!

Internetaddictgirl · 24/09/2020 19:24

Still time @Highlandmama

Sooooo... I think I got a BFP today!!! I can't believe it, today I was booked in for my blood test to check my hormones. I'm in shock as we only did it cycle day 9 and I think I ovulated in cd 12!! Maybe it's all the supplements I've been taking this month?!

Sleeeeeepy · 24/09/2020 19:27

@Internetaddictgirl that's fantastic news, congratulations!!!

@Highlandmama I'm sorry you didn't get your BFP, but you're not out yet 🤞🏻

Internetaddictgirl · 25/09/2020 10:37

Thanks @LT103
I did @Sleeeeeepy still faint but a little bit stronger 😱😱😱 really hoping this one will stay put for 9 months 🙏 has anyone got any tips to try and help prevent miscarriage? I know in IVF they give you drugs to help keep the baby in place - is it progesterone? Any tips like this?

Highlandmama · 25/09/2020 11:21

@Internetaddictgirl that’s awesome! Very pleased for you. No tips I’m afraid but get a good pregnancy multivitamin for sure. Out for this month I’m afraid! But having a lovely morning with a snotty toddler so not all bad ☺️ On to the next month...

Internetaddictgirl · 25/09/2020 16:12

@Highlandmama sorry you are out this month. Thanks for the tip. Xx

CurlyNo2 · 25/09/2020 16:17

Ah thats fantastic news!

With my first, I took a pregnacare multivitamin. I also had to take extra iron because I had a very low iron level.

Internetaddictgirl · 25/09/2020 23:39

Thanks @CurlyNo2 xxx

28labyrinth · 26/09/2020 00:01
