Is anyone TTC after Mirena Coil removal?

Had my coil removed a week past on Monday to TTC baby no 3. I'm 36 soon, 9 years older than at my last pregnancy so no idea if it will be harder this time. My other 2, we conceived first cycle. I don't even know when or if to expect a period so that I can time when I might be ovulating, since I haven't had a period on the coil for 5 yrs. Not even really looking for advice I suppose, just to see if anyone is in same boat with TTC after having a coil removed?

It’s saying I oved CD10! I’ve been testing loads on opk, had a couple of highs (but they weren’t actually very high only 24%) but no peaks. Did have some watery/EWCM too which is a sign. So weird. Was so shocked when I put my temp into FF this morning and it said I’m 3dpo as temp has confirmed ov! I’ll keep testing LH just in case. Now I’m worried it’s because I’m too old!

LaceyMermaid · 14/08/2020 08:39

My chart, Femometer ageeeing too and saying same thing!

Oh that's weird @LaceyMermaid ! May be you missed catching the surge on OPK's.? I've heard that's possible as the surge stays on only for a short while.?

LaceyMermaid · 14/08/2020 08:44

@sup99 Yes could have done or apparently opks don’t always detect it (mr google again 🤣)I’m wondering if I drank too much with all the heat and so it wasn’t strong enough?
It’s just odd because I feel like I can’t have, but then what do I know it’s not like I know what my body feels like to ov I’ve been on Mirena for best part of 15 years!

Amy259 · 14/08/2020 09:25

@LaceyMermaid i think it’s unusual how high your temps were during AF - for them to be lower than CD1-4 after you ov is pretty impossible (if science is to be trusted over our apps 😂) so I would keep testing at say 11am and 4pm, and if it goes high again test more? Unless something was going on CD1-4? You were unusually hot or not feeling good?
I know it’s been a while but do you have any memory at all of your cycle before? I’ve only been 5 years but mine seems to have snapped straight back into what it was before the mirena?

LaceyMermaid · 14/08/2020 10:13

I know it’s a bit weird, but a switched to a proper bbt thermometer on about cd3 and also I’m not sure how accurate my temps are because I sleep with my mouth open! So not sure how much I can go by them 😔
As for my cycle before, I’ve always been on hormone BC as was on pill from age 15-20 then 2 babies (with pill in between) and onto Mirena so it’s never been natural cycles. I think they were 28 days with no idea on ov day. Got pregnant on the pill twice hence the switch to the Mirena! I’m going to test a couple of time’s a day still just to see what happens. Wish I could just get a normal cycle!

Amy259 · 14/08/2020 10:27

How frustrating for you! What about temping vaginally..? My ‘natural cycles’ bbt thermometer suggests that if you sleep with your mouth open. Fingers crossed you see a positive opk soon to answer the question!

LaceyMermaid · 14/08/2020 11:20

@Amy259 yes I read that but not sure about that... 🙈

LaceyMermaid · 14/08/2020 11:21

I should ov next couple of days if not so hopefully I’ll see something!

Amy259 · 14/08/2020 11:26

@LaceyMermaid no I didn’t fancy it either!! 😂

LaceyMermaid · 15/08/2020 11:16

This is doing my head in now! CD14 and got a ‘high’ opk this morning but only 14%. Ff and Femometer both still say I’ve ov’ed. Just wish I could have a normal cycle where I actually know what was going on!

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 09:35

@Amy259 any news?
@sup99 where are you now in your FW?
@EJay84 how are you feeling?

Amy259 · 17/08/2020 12:45

@LaceyMermaid CD3 here.. af arrived on Saturday. I think after the bfn’s last week I was prepared for it so I’m okay with it now! Looking forward to trying again this month. Will do a few things differently for my own sanity though - no constant googling!!

How are you doing? Any closer to figuring out what’s going on?

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 12:52

Ah no sorry to hear you got AF @Amy259
What will you do differently?
I’ve no idea what’s going on! I don’t think I’ve ovulated although I’ve definitely have had some pains and I had highs on my opks yesterday but no peaks. No spike in temp though. Wondering if my body is trying to but failing? It’s so annoying! I’ve been looking into soy isoflavones as apparently they can help you ovulate so might take those next cycle. Scared they’ll mess me up more though. I don’t feel like I’ve got any chance this cycle!

Amy259 · 17/08/2020 13:00

@LaceyMermaid physically, not much - I’m not sure what else we can do (which probably added to the initial disappointment, because I feel confident we got timing spot on so there’s another reason it didn’t happen).
But I joined the Premom fb page so I was seeing posts, symptoms, worries, charts, bfns, bfps every time I opened the fb app and it definitely made me obsess more than I naturally would have. And I think added to the tww anxiety/pressure when I saw lots of bfps at 8/9dpo. This thread is so much better, more chatty with everyone at different stages of the same goal, so I think I’ll just stick to chatting here rather than reading lots all the time!

It sounds like it’s trying though, which must be a good sign! I didn’t peak until cd18 last cycle, so maybe you’re just later like me?

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 13:08

I’m hoping that’s the case @Amy259 and I’ll get a peak soon! It is exhausting and I totally see what you’re saying about seeing too much online and it adding to the pressure. I feel like I need to just do what I did last time and not even know about any of this just dtd all the time and see if AF turns up! Trouble is I think because I’m 38 I’m putting pressure on it needing to not take me long but it’s silly really.

Amy259 · 17/08/2020 13:18

Over share - but I’m not sure we DTD enough to just wing it (certainly not every other day), which is why I thought knowing the right time was the way forward, but it definitely has its drawbacks. I think this month I’ll just track ov and bbt to confirm, and try not to stress as much about symptom spotting (probably easier said than done!!).

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 13:21

@Amy259 definitely easier said than done but I’m going to try to do the same! That’s the problem isn’t it - dtd every other day is a lot I can’t remember if we did it that much or not last time I was TTC! But then I’m finding all the tracking makes me obsess! It did work though last time and that’s what I’m trying to tell myself. It’s also only my first proper cycle since Mirena so I probably need to chill out!

Amy259 · 17/08/2020 13:27

@LaceyMermaid I hear ya - that was my first cycle after the mirena too so I feel like the disappointment I felt for it not working wasn’t relative to how early it is?? I just felt defeated that some people dtd once and get pregnant without trying/knowing, whereas we timed it perfectly. I’m aware I’ll have perspective one day at how silly I was thinking it would happen just like that!

We’ve never dtd every second day 😂 1-2 per week is our norm but I suppose even doing that you can miss your chance, so I think I’ll stick to tracking until I really lose the plot...

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 13:29

@Amy259 I think it’s probably best to track so you can be accurate, but it’s just doing it and trying not to go insane!

EJay84 · 17/08/2020 13:48

Hi ladies. I'm OK thanks @LaceyMermaid. My main issue is really sore boobs and I am covered in really painful spots all over my neck, jaw and back. I don't remember having hormonal acne with the other 2. Phoned the midwife today so I will be called back with a booking in appointment, 1hr slot, that will be done over the phone. I have Crohn's disease and have a lot of deficiencies due to intestinal and bowel surgery so they'll keep an eye on me more often this time round. I'm going to book a private scan for 8 weeks, just for my own peace of mind. A local place does them for £59 here.

Have either of you tried Preseed? We used that this month. Not sure if it made any difference but I hardly seemed to have any CM, even though I got a peak OPK x

LaceyMermaid · 17/08/2020 13:49

Yes I’ve heard of that, might give that a try @EJay84 I’m trying not to buy everything and try it be issue it’s only cycle 1!

Amy259 · 20/08/2020 10:09

Hi ladies!

@EJay84 not sure how I managed to completely miss your post the other day. Sorry to hear you’re having painful acne, hopefully it passes soon! Have you got your phone appointment yet? Ahh it’s all so exciting!

@LaceyMermaid any updates at your end with your LH strips..?

Preseed keeps popping into my mind too. I have hardly any cm and I wonder if that could’ve been an issue. I feel more relaxed this time round (she says on cd6 😂) but I think preseed might be worth a go!

LaceyMermaid · 20/08/2020 11:21

@EJay84 yes sorry to hear that you have painful spots but hopefully it’s all a good sign of hormones!
@Amy259good that you’re feeling relaxed! I never did get a peak opk but it looks from my bbt like I ovulated Monday. What do you think?

Amy259 · 20/08/2020 11:46

@LaceyMermaid oh yeah it for sure looks like it. Also after me saying your temp seemed high during AF, mine took until day 5 to drop below my cover line this cycle, which is pretty much the exact same as yours. So maybe that’s in fact what’s supposed to happen (I thought the drop was usually before af started but must be wrong) and it definitely looks like you had the ovulation dip on Monday! Did you manage to dtd around that time at all? 🤞🏻
