@Cocoblue22 I don't know yet - if this progresses I'll have a peak at their mat benefits to find out :) I've worked at companies that had no minimum time requirements and others that had 12 months before mat leave entitlement so will be interesting to see where this one ends up on the spectrum!

Missgoldilocks · 16/06/2020 16:11

@Minster2012 my sister bled at ovulation before!!

LV1987 · 16/06/2020 16:45

@Juno231 my workplace is 12 months before you qualify for their enhanced mat leave package, but all employees qualify for the basic - which is basically the minimum that they legally have to provide (6 weeks then SMP, I think but I'm rusty!) Our enhanced mat leave is by no means the worst out there (12 weeks full followed by 6 weeks at 50% and then SMP for remainder) but it is still unrealistic in a world where not every man is the bread winner in the family. And I think it just engenders this assumption that because of my career path I wouldn't want more time off. I'm still on my I hate men in the workplace rant I think 😂🙄

Feeling really crampy and yucky this afternoon @J0DI3, but I will still test in the morning if AF does not beat me to it!

SmileyT · 16/06/2020 16:56

Just catching up after a shitty day at work and @Juno231 definitely go for the job, if you do accept you can definitely ask for maternity benefits then if they withdraw offer you can take them to a tribunal, tbh I'd want to know maternity benefits even if I wasn't planning on getting pregnant in the next couple years to me it's part of the total comp considerations 👌🏾 my OH has told me that he is desperate for me to move jobs regardless of mat benefits. Also have a look online most big companies you can find all their policies online xx

I'm a mortgage advisor and we are getting loads of downvalues but if you're buying and selling pass the loss on to the people selling to you or find a middle ground if you really want to move 👌🏾 a lot of negotiations going on post offer at the moment xx

@Minster2012 really hope it is ovulation bleeding for you, has it got any heavier? Hope it doesn't fuck up July IVF 😩

Welcome @Stabal sorry for your loss, when will you be testing? 🤞

@lucyrp aw I love that card!! So cute, can't wait to be able to give my OH something like that. Good plan having it ready 🥰

@Vil10 hah that is the ideal text to be getting right now! Let us know how it is! I might see if I can trick OH into watching it with me 😂👀

@Minster2012 yaayyyyy to the IVF progress 🥳 fingers crossed for July!! This is probably a stupid question but I know nothing about IVF, how does the process work? I'm intrigued! Sorry just seen your later message, I get spotting every month around ovulation.

CD7 which means I get to POAS tomorrow and restart CB tests 🥳🥳 let the obsessing commence haha.

Although slight dilemma, OV date has been pushed back to Monday annddd my mum is coming to stay with us for a few days 😩🙈

@lucyrp you must have some tricks for sneaky sex? 😂

J0DI3 · 16/06/2020 17:07

@LV1987 keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼✨

Minster2012 · 16/06/2020 17:20

Thank you ladies I'm so pleased to be able to vent here, & thank you for your reassurances @Missgoldilocks & @katao I haven't dared check yet @smileyT 🤞🏻🤞🏻I might do an IC strip too

@KateColx sneaky sex is fun sex though!!

God such a roller coaster

Missgoldilocks · 16/06/2020 17:34

@Minster2012 my sister recently started ivf after trying for 2 years naturally. She was about to go ahead and get the eggs extracted soon but basically she took the wrong shot that brought on ovulation too early when her eggs wasn't matured enough yet!! She was soooo upset understandably, she has to start again in 2 weeks time. Because of corona they didn't explain properly about the different shots she has to take it was a phone consultation annoyingly and both shots have a similar name

Vil10 · 16/06/2020 17:35

@lucyrp that card is adorable!! You'll be able to use sometime in the near future!!

@Minster2012 I hope it's just ovulation bleeding, fingers crossed!!

@KateColx isn't it!! I will do, might be right up your OH street, even if my OH might hate the storyline he'll deffo like the fruitiness that it comes with😂

So according to flo my ovulation is Sunday and I did an opk this morning and was low but I just had a little bit of stretchy CM, was clear white, but I don't know whether that's just the grapefruit juice working its magic?? Because I know I'm not ovulating with the negative opk

lucyrp · 16/06/2020 17:41

@KateColx it's so simple but thought it was so cute and was only a couple of pounds so why not! as for secret sex in the bathroom is great 😉

@Vil10 i really want to use it 😫

so i'm that tired that apparently i've been asleep for the last hour and a half since OH got back😂

watermelonwizard · 16/06/2020 18:16

@KateColx bedroom floor - no squeaky beds !!! 😂

Minster2012 · 16/06/2020 18:23

@Katecolx there are a couple of different kinds of IVF or there's ICI which is for ppl with low sperm mobility I think? That's not full IVF so they will try that first. has a good success rate.
Then there's the more "normal" which is called a fresh transfer where they boost your cycle to produce eggs, monitor them to maturity (using drugs to make that happen at a certain point @Missgoldilocks I thought I'd fucked it up as well when I did it I was in floods of tears but luckily it was ok, it's sooooo much pressure) take the eggs out & fertilise then with OHs sperm, well, you get calls to say how many, if any have fertilised, then over the next 3 & 5 days more calls to say how many have survived (day 5 ones are the ones that MAY then implant to babies) so that's all nerve wracking, that's all in a lab, then they give you drugs to boost your lining (hoping it's over 7mm) & transfer usually one embryo if you are 40 years old & you hope it implants. & they freeze the other embryos if you have any.

  • or you can do a frozen transfer (that's what we did) so we did the embryo creation, then ours were frozen. Because my egg reserves are low they usually get about 10-15 eggs per lady, I got 4 first time, then hopefully half fertilise, we were lucky, 3 did, then they grow them on. Usually less than half grow on, first time we got 2. We transferred one to my best friend first time & got our son. The other is on ice!

We then created more embryos 2 years later & got 2 more of "better quality", used one in Feb, MMC. So we've got 2 left now. So my hubby says "his work is done" 😂🤣

They basically bypass your tubes, give you Estrogen & progesterone, fertilise outside your body & implant it exactly where it needs to be in a nest which is hopefully fluffy from boosted progesterone 🤞🏻you also have extra progesterone & Estrogen for 8/12 weeks afterwards

Stabal · 16/06/2020 18:27

@SmileyT I think I'll wait another week maybe even til Friday 26th and see! Long luteal phase means I'm due anywhere between 26th-1st. I'm too scared to get a negative 😣

SmileyT · 16/06/2020 18:35

@Minster2012 that's so interesting about the whole process, I wanted to look into this option if I didn't catch by my due date, but guess I need to check my egg quality and OHs sperm quality first. Really hoping that this is ovulating bleeding and means you've got a nice ripe egg and you can save the extra money for your new bigger house ☺️

@Stabal ahh good work on waiting when I had a MMC I didn't have any spotting before AF so can definitely rebound back but I know every person is different so there is no 'normal' really xx

Minster2012 · 16/06/2020 19:03

@SmileyT yes I mean if ppl get the referrals they do all the testing anyway, they check your ovaries, check your tubes etc Cos mine was medical under the chemo I had NO IDEA there was so many reasons ppl end up at IVF & so many unexplained reasons or PCOS for instance. A lot of which is down to being on hormonal contraception for a long time. DH was shitting it when his swimmers were tested he was like "let's hope you are the problem- errrr you mean, JUST my cancer right?!!" No love you are fine. Average. 🤔 but our first embryos were frozen at day 3 which is unusual they would always be preferred to grow into blastocyst stage in the lab (day 5) because that always HAS to happen to create a baby & it's where most embryos fail before they can even then implant so they do that in the lab so as not "to waste" an IVF go. But as we "only had 2" they have a policy for freezing at day 3 & hope for the best. That's the one our son came from. It's weird to think his "batch" is classed as a lower quality than the other one but it's because the one 2 years later is already a stage further on.

We've had a few friends do IVF & many lucky on first or second times 🤞🏻but I know one lady who did it 5 times & nothing 😥

I've had no more spotting yet, just done an IC strip & it's as white as snow 🤷‍♀️

KateColx · 16/06/2020 19:42

@Minster2012 thank you for explaining it all, it's so interesting to learn more about it. It's one of those things that you're aware of but never really understand. I bet those 5 days are the longest 5 days!! It's crazy to think you still have another one on ice. Oh god it must be awful to go through it 5 times with no luck 😔 are they quick to start once they give you the go ahead? Sorry for all of my questions!

Thanks dog all of the sneaky sex suggestions, should have known you guys would help 😂 floor sex and bathroom sex have been added 😂👀 my poor Mum haha, she's so sound, if I told her she'd probably just be like oh I'll go out don't worry haha x

watermelonwizard · 16/06/2020 19:55

Wow @Minster2012 thanks for explaining that. I work with someone who announced her pregnancy last year, I hadn't known her for long but I (naively) assumed it had all happened to plan. She then said she had been trying for almost 10 years and ivf for 3, and her pregnancy was her last embryo....it just floored me what people go through. It's fascinating how they do it, I just don't know how people are strong enough to do it but how amazing that you have your son because of it! Her son was born 3 months ago and she has her happy ending! I hope you get yours with less hassle!

@KateColx no I don't mind questions at all! I mean, there's a lot more to it than I wrote, a LOT of drugs, not nice ones too, like for a frozen transfer they effectively "hold your menstruation" (so you don't ovulate at the same time & mess it up) which is actually putting you into a menopausal state 😡. There are also pessaries. A LOT of pessaries. Sexy!

Fresh transfer usually takes c6-8 weeks, mine was a frozen "long protocol" which should have taken 8 weeks but had Xmas in between then my womb lining wasn't thick enough so I had 2 more weeks of progesterone or it was going to be abandoned (it was still 6.8mm not 7) so in theory we started process in Nov 19 last period, I started my menopausal drugs mid dec & we transferred feb 7th got BFP on Feb 21st, took drugs to medicated miscarry 17th March, embryo made it to 6.5 weeks (on transfer it's already 2weeks) I should have been 8.5weeks by that stage 😔

Minster2012 · 16/06/2020 20:04

& if it's worked once then that's your NHS go used (only allowed one child of course 😂) We had to pay for most of ours anyway as we used a surrogate which the NHS don't support so only the embryo creation was my NHS funded so yeah, would be much cheaper to just get pregnant!!

Newbie0818 · 16/06/2020 20:08

Hi guys, I'm going to be a bit hit and miss on here as we've just picked up our new bubba!

Sorry for anyone who had af/ bfn, and congrats to any bfp's I may have missed today x

Oh and I think I might be ovulating today 🤷🏼‍♀️ af supposedly due tomorrow but having the weirdest cm, clear and stretchy with bits of white? Any ideas? Also had a temp drop and very crampy, skin breakout etc. Just assumed af was on the way but I'm normally really dry before it..
hope everyone else is ok!

@unluckyducky thank you - it is incredibly frustrating, but then I did chose a traditionally male dominated career 🙄 it definitely should not be that way. I also "struggle" with looking quite young and get spoken down to a LOT...male solicitors on the other side asking if I'm qualified enough to deal with the work (usually when I've got one up on them tbf). Clients asking if I am old enough to represent them, did I only just qualify? No mate, I'm 33 and I've been doing this for the last 10 years. I remember one of the partners making me angry cry in the job I am in now because I dared to specialise in something he'd been dabbling in unsuccessfully for years and his client asked me to do the work instead. He asked me whose secretary I was, now, no offence intended to anyone reading this who is employed as a secretary, but assuming that's the case just because someone is female is disgusting. In my previous role, my male boss regularly used to say in team meetings that he hoped none of us intended on getting pregnant any time soon. I could literally write a book about this stuff, the legal profession is awful for discrimination.

That turned into a much longer rant than I intended 😂 oh well, testing day tomorrow!

Minster2012 · 16/06/2020 21:10

@Newbie0818 what a beaut!!! What's their name!!??

Are you gonna test? Doubtful ovulation could be something else 🤞🏻

SweetDreams92 · 16/06/2020 21:13

@Minster2012 wow the IVF process is so fascinating! Really hoping it all goes well for you x

@Newbie0818 aww that pup is adorable! What's his/her name? x
