Anyone TTC after stopping the pill?

Hi,
I’m a newbie to mumsnet and a newbie to TTC.
My partner and I are TTC after deciding to postpone our wedding to end of summer 2021 (was originally May this year) due to covid. Our plan was to TTC after marriage but we’re so impatient and thought we would give it a go now.
I have been on the pill since I was 16 (I am now 27). Switched to implant in October 2017 then got it removed in January this year to go back onto the pill. Anyway, I stopped taking the pill on 13th May. However... I had gone straight onto the next pill pack to avoid the withdrawal bleed 7 days prior to this so hadn’t had a bleed for 5 weeks. Had a withdrawal bleed 16th-19th May. I have been checking CM, no EWCM that I’ve noticed yet. Have also been using ovulation test strips daily and all been negative so far.
I’m using the Clue app (always have done since switching to implant to track periods) and it’s saying that I’m currently in my fertility window with today being my most fertile day yet no signs or positive ovulation test. Could the extra 7 days of pill-taking messed up my cycle more than it would have done coming off the pill?

Anyone else TTC after stopping the pill? Or have conceived? What are your experiences? Any tips?

@Nazz10I don't know... Feel I should leave it until at least 12dpo? ...i will deffo be late then too. Fingers crossed for no af tomorrow... Did you have any cramping? X

Nazz10 · 05/08/2020 09:53

@SVC11 if you can wait til 12dpo that would definitely be best. I had a very clear line then. But I couldn't wait that long 😂 yes I had cramping and still do. It's kind of worrying me a little bit but apparently it's normal, especially with your 1st pregnancy

@SVC11 Here is my FRER at 12dpo and then late evening 13dpo so you will most definitely see a big difference in the lines if you wait
Do you have FRER's?

@Nazz10 oh god if I get to see a line like that I will definitely start freaking out! Haha are you super excited? What are your next steps? Will you see a Dr x

Nazz10 · 05/08/2020 10:48

@SVC11 haha I definitely freaked and anxious a little bit. It's still doesn't seem real yet. Still being sceptical and thinking the worst may still happen so trying not to get hopes up too much yet.
I called my gp and they gave me a number for the community midwife. They're giving me a call back next week to sort my booking appointment.
I'm a very anxious person anyway so may pay for a reassurance scan at 7-8 weeks providing everything is still progressing by then. Hoping that will help with my anxiety about it all

Hi everyone! This is my first post to mumsnet and this thread stood right out as I wanted some advice and also people to talk to in similar situations! I was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years ago but in mild stages, it then developed in to stage 4 deep infiltrating endo when we started TTC just under 3yrs ago. It was absolute hell and I was very poorly resulting in having to have two operations last year in Jan and June to drain two big endometriomas (blood filled cysts) in both ovaries and remove my left Fallopian tube. I was put on prostap in between the ops which basically puts your body in to false menopause to keep everything down before the second op to remove the actual cysts (it was too risky to remove first go due to size). All was successful after second op but I went on to the combination pill straight after to get my body healed and also to get my head back together as was so traumatic! I’ve then tricycled the pill since last June, first two periods were bad then had one in Feb which was really manageable. I then had to have emergency surgery in June out of the blue due to my endo coming back and giving me an infection plus my right tube was wrapped around my ovary! Anyway they sorted it out and again was successful, they flushed my tube and after said it looked healthy and fine. We decided to stop my pill and start ttc again as I’m now 38 and with the endo it could take time if it happens at all. I also had an AMH test week after surgery and no surprise it was super low. I stopped my pill on 23rd June and got my breakthrough bleed 3 days later, again all good. Since then I’ve had nothing and I’m now on day 41. I had what I thought was ovulation week between around day 21-24, had ovary pains, hot flushes, nausea and just generally felt like I remembered it. I did an ovulation stick that looked positive on day 24 but then next day nothing which would indicate I ovulated when I thought?! Since then I’ve had really sore nipples and odd ovary pains but nothing major. I’ve also had mild period pains sporadically thinking I’m coming on but then not. My CM has been consistently EW in small amounts but getting it every other day or so. I did a pg test last Friday which would have been around 12 dpo if I did indeed ovulate of course and it was negative. I am sure I’m not pregnant as that would be too easy with all my issues but just want my period so I can start tracking everything, it’s making me worry I’m going in to menopause early or something! Any advice or ideas?!

Oh I broke and did a digital test... Eeeekkk. There's still a really high chance to miscarry though right? How do people relax about this? X

Hi @CLKELL really sorry I don't really know much about endometriosis. Sounds like you've had a really rough time with it. Have you spoke with your GP? Are you known to a gynaecologist?

@SVC11 Yaaay!!! Congratulations!! I'm doing my second clear blue digi tomorrow to make sure hcg is progressing.
I believe there is a high chance which kind of takes the fun away a bit. Can't offer any advice about relaxing because I'm not relaxed at all!
What symptoms do you have?

Hi everyone! I’m in very similar situation to you all I think, wedding was supposed to be next weekend, now postponed to August 2021 so TTC before wedding, this is the last cycle really before I would need to reprotect as I’m bridesmaid in June! :( So I’m usually bang on with my periods, I’m now 2 days late. I did a Morrison’s test yesterday and also today, both negative. Trying to be hopeful but didn’t even have a faint line sad anyone else had similar experience and actually ended up pregnant? Don’t know when to retest either now!

SVC11 · 07/08/2020 19:58

@Nazz10 ah cool what CD are you on now. I need to just be patient now and wait until maybe a couple more weeks and check again? Do I tell my mum? Lol who knows? I have sore breasts and a bit of cramping plus I'm really tired and have to keep napping which is not really like me. What about you? X

Nazz10 · 07/08/2020 20:22

I'm currently on cd33. How about you?
I did my first digital on Sunday and it said 1-2 weeks. I changed my mind and just done my digital again 😆 and got 2-3 weeks! I'm gonna do another in 7-10 days time. Just for reassurance. Looks like we will be due around the same time!! What date did your last period start?

We were going to wait until the first scan to tell parents but then we decided to tell our immediate families (parents and siblings) because we would tell them if the worst was to happen anyway so thought may as well tell them good news now and IF it is followed by bad news then at least it's not going to be a complete shock to them and we will be well supported. I suppose it depends how well you think you would be able to hold the news in and how much support you think you'll need in the early stages.

I had cramping which seems to have eased off now but have like a full feeling down there. Starting to get tender breasts but not incredibly painful yet

Nazz10 · 07/08/2020 20:24

@louiset93 Hi! I'm not quite sure what to suggest really. Have you been tracking ovulation with OPKs and BBT? Have you recently stopped the pill?

OP posts:
louiset93 · 07/08/2020 20:35

Came off pill about 3 months ago I used OPK and only had faint positives from 20-23rd June then disappeared so assume ovulated around 23/24. Usually bang on 28 day cycle. Haven’t been doing BBT

SVC11 · 07/08/2020 21:54

@Nazz10 I'm cycle day 27...i have short cycles... Usually 24 days so I'm 2 days late for me... But tomorrow being 4 weeks is a gd sign... Yeah may take another one in a week then... Its so weird.. I thought I'd see I was pregnant and be like woo! But I feel a bit apprehensive until I'm a bit further down the line. I looked up my due date if this one sticks, April 15!

louiset93 · 08/08/2020 07:06

Forgot to @ you @Nazz10

Nazz10 · 08/08/2020 07:32

@louiset93 I would maybe wait a few days to test again or use a FRER

@SVC11 I have short cycles too. Do you ovulate early then or do you have a short luteal phase? I ovulated on cd 16. I'm like you, I was excited at first and then the excitement very quickly turned into a bit of panic and apprehension. I'm due April 12th according to the midwife but then my apps are saying 8th/9th. Not sure why. Maybe because my cycles are shorter? God knows 🤷🏽‍♀️ will have to wait for first scan to know for definite though

OP posts:
SVC11 · 08/08/2020 08:09

@Nazz10 I ovulated on CD 16 this time too and I usually have a 9 day luteal phase which is short. But it just means all this is very quick, picking up hcg pretty soon which would have meant a quick travel time (lol) down the fallopian tube for my egg and then quick hcg production. So I hope that's not a bad sign (like an ectopic or something) I hope everything is in the right place. Oo god yes I should ring the doctor Monday and have a chat to someone. Yes I think all the online calculators take into account a short cycle to calculate due date... Who knows. When's your first scan. Really hope it all goes well for you x

mummy2myJJ · 08/08/2020 09:04

@SVC11 congratulations!! Soo happy for you x

LouJ85 · 08/08/2020 09:06

Hi all. I'm now CD 26, 12 dpo (this test was done yesterday afternoon at 11 dpo). Slight nausea and tiredness but no other symptoms. 2nd cycle off the pill, only dtd once in the fertile period. Period due either Tues or Wed of next week (still not sure if I'm a 28 or 29 day cycle).

My initial excitement yesterday had now changed to anxiety that this might not be a sticky one, given I'm only CD 26. I know this is a strong line but I don't want to get my hopes up. When would a positive test be definite confirmation??

LouJ85 · 08/08/2020 09:09

Just to add this pic - top is 11dpo afternoon, bottom is this morning (12dpo).
Is it just me or is there no progression? And should there be? Confused

Freckle1 · 08/08/2020 10:23

Hi all, I posted a week or so ago about not having a breakthrough bleed after stopping the mini pill and waiting for AF, I thought I would post an update of my experience in case it helps anyone else. My period came 25 days after stopping the mini pill with no breakthrough bleed. Excited to finally be able to track my cycle, but not TTC for another month or two. 😊

@LouJ85 I don’t know enough about it to help but I’m hoping for the best for you! X

SVC11 · 08/08/2020 10:39

@LouJ85 it takes 48 to 72 ours for hcg to increase so maybe in a few days you will see an increase x

Plm28 · 08/08/2020 11:20

Did anyone get super light periods after stopping the pill? I’d already had a withdrawal bleed and had a period around CD 36 but it was barely anything, just a bit of spotting. Barely needed to use tampons it was that light.
