Starting TTC again after missed miscarriage

Hi,
Just ovulated for the first time after my missed miscarriage at 13 weeks (baby had stopped growing at 6-7) and wondered if anyone wanted to keep me company while we go through the ups and downs of ttc all over again! ! Xx

@PinkRoses20 if you got a negative could there be a chance you ovulated and DTD since you stopped bleeding?

PinkRoses20 · 26/05/2020 21:33

@mrsAndeke i hoped it was maybe that but given the line hasn't got darker on tests i'm doubting it now. I just assumed they would darken pretty quickly ..

mrsAndeke · 26/05/2020 21:41

@PinkRoses20 I would just give it a few days then maybe true FRER as they are meant to be super sensitive, then you might have a clearer idea and if not call your GP xx

Workingmama1 · 26/05/2020 22:15

It's so easy to try and think about what you did or didn't do and make that the reason so completely know how you feel @skyblue20 @Poppy10121. @threnody I kept breastdeeding as I didn't want to change anything and still miscarried so don't think there is a right or wrong way!

@PinkRoses20 I hope you work out what is going on soon, our bodies can be so frustrating!

itssquidstella · 26/05/2020 22:25

Mind if I join this thread? I had a mmc diagnosed today and will be having MVA tomorrow. This is my second mc (first in Jan) and I'm 35, so will be pushing for investigations but I'm also keen to get back on the wagon and try again.

Sakura54 · 27/05/2020 08:39

Hi @Poppy10121 yes we decided to move to a new thread. This way we can look to the future and be positive! I’m not going to do anything differently apart from avoid my smoking in-laws, not take out of date folic acid and be wary of certain eczema creams. I take it really easy and relax a lot when pregnant so clearly it was just one of those cruel things in life.

It’s interesting how most of us got pregnant so quickly just for this MMC to occur, as if it was too good to be true?

Sounds so similar to me @Hettie1981 Remember I told you the sonographer was confused and asked me if I knew I had a split womb? Then a second sonographer elsewhere a few days later couldn’t see the supposed ‘split’. They also said if it was an issue it would have been mentioned in the scan report, but just doesn’t make sense how they can see different things within a few days of each other and maybe it wasn’t mentioned in the report seeing as they were focussed on the fact that they’ve just discovered a MMC? I’ll definitely be mentioning this next time to get checked out again even though the second sonographer tried to reassure me. Why say these things and then leave it like that?

@Threnody I’ve had to have fragmin injections in my stomach for 10 days before. I found they made my stomach sting and dreaded it. I was a total little girl about it lol. I’ve thought about whether weight was a factor for me too as my BMI is seriously on the low side of normal. I doubt it though...

So its been 4 weeks since my MVA and it looks like AF may be making a return as I’ve had a bit of spotting since Monday so that’s a good sign and right on time.

Smilingdonkey · 27/05/2020 09:16

Hi ladies! Sorry I've missed so much... I was trying not to obsesses so took a step back from mumsnet! Not sure it helped!
I'm with you all on the July thing!

@poppy10121 I am in the same position and have been for 10 days - getting postives on frer and very faint lines on ICs and superdrug normal tests now. My advice is avoid the sensitive tests like first response... The doctors use a bog standard 25 sensitivity test - I'm assuming if my levels are going up (I don't think mine are tbh) they should be showing on them. Does that make sense or am I rambling??!!

@SkyBlue20 also doing couch to 5k here - nearly finished week two!

Hope you are all well xxxx

Welcome, @itssquidstella. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope today goes as well as it can 💕

@Sakura54 Glad AF seems to be showing up and right on time, too!

@Smilingdonkey Yay, fellow week two runner! I'm dreading week three 😂

How is everyone today? Once again I'm really not very productive, I don't know what's wrong with me at the moment! Have quite a lot to do though so must get it done at some point today!

JoJo58995 · 27/05/2020 11:21

Hi again everyone, lots of new faces appeared here! I'm sorry to read more peoples stories but hopefully lots of positives appearing in there too!!
I have still been reading but took a step back trying to be as positive as possible while waiting for tests to find out if things were ok with my prolonged bleeding after medical treatment for MMC in Feb. Basically they have taken some swabs which I am waiting for the results for, I had a scan yesterday which shows just about the same amount of retained products as was there 10 days after my medical treatment (last scan was middle of March). So despite me saying to them all along about my long bleeds and them telling me it is all normal and just my body settling down, it clearly wasn't. I'm now worried about how long these products have been in there and whether there could be scarring and future problems as a result of it. I have been getting fairly gentle but different pains over the past few weeks on top of intermittent low grade period pains.

I decided to try ovulation sticks this month since the docs wouldn't help me, haven't bled at all for the past 7 days (after a 3 week bleed) and got my first positive at the weekend which is roughly half way through my 'cycle' (challenging to clearly have a day 1 but I've tried to piece one together). We had been DTD very regularly and I was thinking it was things heading back to normal but now I am thinking that even if I did ovulate, it can't be ok to still have retained products surely. I've read about people who have had successful pregnancies as the retained material gets absorbed and doesn't cause a problem, but I'm waiting to hear back from the EPU about what they want to do with treatment but I think they might now want to go for surgery. I feel like I've been messed around so much, wasted so much time and may have future problems, and am now having my lowest day since all of this started over 3 months ago :(
I've got my fingers crossed for positive news for all of you!

AlisonLew15 · 27/05/2020 11:49

Hi @JoJo58995 I’m so sorry to hear about your struggles.
I had 2 lots of failed medical management and then had a surgical. I’ve often wondered if all the product came away as I had bleeding for a long time afterwards - all doctors could say was it was normal. No scan offered to check. Now TTC again and worrying about future issues x

JoJo58995 · 27/05/2020 15:14

@AlisonLew15 I'm sorry to hear you went through so much too! If you don't mind me asking how far apart were your treatments? Fingers crossed for some positive news for you soon!

AlisonLew15 · 27/05/2020 15:32

No of course not @JoJo58995 it’s a bit of a grim read though. I had my first medical management On 3rd December which was around 4 weeks after my 12 week scan. Then my second lot on 31st Dec (that was horrific, I had to goto A&E because of the pain) then Surgical on 3rd January. Bled constantly from November until February I would say. Passed something weird in Feb and been fine since.

Hettie1981 · 27/05/2020 15:46

@sukura54
I dont know what happened with the first scan. Just holding onto the NHS scan didn't see any septum.

Next problem is after all this my partner isn't sure he wants us to go through all of this and take the risk again. He already has a 13 year old and feels like he's done it all. He says hes not saying no, but just needs time to check. I'm devastated and spent most of yesterday crying hysterically and saying irrational things. He knows his decision will affect my life, and at 38 I dont feel like I can move on and wouldn't want to to someone else. So just got to stop talking about it and give him time to think. Its a massive decision I know that, but not sure where we go if he says no. Fingers crossed I get another chance xx

Poppy10121 · 27/05/2020 15:52

I'm happy to find another Couch to 5ker @Smilingdonkey :-) I hope it brings you some positive feelings, I am really finding that it brings some structure to my week and I feel good after running. I'm recommending it to everyone I talk to!

Sorry to hear about your experiences @JoJo58995 and @AlisonLew15 it sounds so tough to have to go through all of that :(

mrsAndeke · 27/05/2020 17:25

I've also been trying to back into the habit of exercising I was going the 0-5k when I found I was pregnant but stopped as had really bad sickness, managed an hour on the exercise bike today and some yoga, and will go back to the running tomorrow morning, you lovely ladies have inspired me!

SkyBlue20 · 27/05/2020 18:00

@JoJo58995 I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time, I'm sending so much love and strength and hope you get answers soon xx

@Hettie1981 Sending so much love and strength to you, too - I hope you and your partner can find a way forward xx

JoJo58995 · 28/05/2020 10:25

@AlisonLew15 I'm so sorry you had such an ordeal! But I'm so glad things have settled since. Fingers crossed for the future.

I've had an MVA this morning and I insisted on a final scan afterwards to make sure it was all clear, they've confirmed it is now so fingers crossed things will settle down soon. My advice to anyone not happy with their bleeding/cycles after a miscarriage is to insist on a scan to confirm things are clear. I had negative pregnancy tests from 5 weeks after miscarriage despite retained products, and if the doctors had listened to me this would have been picked up and dealt with sooner, instead of everyone telling me that a negative pregnancy test meant things were clear.
Best of luck and positive vibes to everyone x

Sakura54 · 28/05/2020 11:30

That's a tough situation @Hettie1981 If it makes you feel better about waiting, TBH its best to let your body and cycles settle and heal after MCs plus with CV going on... MCs are a horrible thing both for us and our OHs. Hopefully he will come to a decision soon and I hope you can try again. Do let us know.

@SkyBlue20 what do you work as? I wonder as you're still busy and not on furlough like the rest of us lol.

littletandme · 28/05/2020 11:38

Hello ladies, can I ask how long it took you to get a negative pregancy test after your miscarriage?

I had an MVA 2 weeks ago today but although the tests are getting lighter they're still very obviously positive. EPU did say 3 weeks but I'm worried that with how obviously positive they are if a week would be enough for it to be totally negative.

AlisonLew15 · 28/05/2020 12:53

Good advice @JoJo58995 I wish I had insisted on another scan as I think the advice from the doctors as you say about negative pregnancy test doesn’t always mean all the products have gone.

@littletandme I can’t remember how long after my surgical I had the negative test but I remember feeling relief. I slowly started to feel more myself and not constantly drained, that was such a great feeling after being so unwell since the middle of September.

Smilingdonkey · 29/05/2020 08:42

Hey, I'm.still getting positives and it's been 6 weeks today since bleeding began. I didn't test until 4 weeks though so we don't know if I got a negative inbetween. I'm goimg mad with worry.

Question for those who have had a first period - did you get a lot more pain than normal leading up to it? I have bad cramps and back ache and have been rather dizzy. I had bloods yesterday so that should trigger some investigation if necessary - but I'm wondering if my body is just gearing up for a hideous period? I'm so miserable waiting. This is worse than the miscarriage if I'm honest. Just want to feel normal again! I was sure I ovulated on 15th which would make my period due today but can I have ovulated with Hcg in my system? Would cramps be happening for 10 days before period? So many confusions...

Hope you are all well? How many of us have had periods now? Xxxxx

Morning all!

@JoJo58995 I'm glad you managed to get the scan and all is gone, hope you're feeling ok after it all.

@Sakura54 I work for myself doing marketing so currently semi-busy with client work but more busy trying to generate new work!

@littletandme I didn't test until three weeks after and it cam back negative then xx

@Smilingdonkey I'm so sorry you still have so much uncertainty, can only imagine how stressful it must be. Have you spoken to the EPU/GP recently about it?

Four weeks today since my MVA and no period yet, I REALLY want it to arrive in the next week or I think I'll find it pretty hard - I was looking forward to a few weeks of not bleeding or worrying about TTC and all of that but actually, I'm just finding the waiting awful, I really want to get back to TTC as soon as we can (I'm a massive planner and have no patience whatsoever).

How's everyone else doing? Another lovely sunny weekend coming up, any nice plans (as much as we can at the moment)? xx

mrsAndeke · 29/05/2020 12:09

@Smilingdonkey I've not had a period but due next week, I've been having cramps along my pelvic area and ovaries, along with backache and fatigue. So I feel like AF is due any day, I've had a negative though, just wish the cramps would stop though!

Smilingdonkey · 29/05/2020 17:06

I think my period had arrived! I'm so so so so happy! I'm still getting positive tests (??!!) but is exactly 15 days since I was sure I ovulated so I feel like perhaps I do know my body after all! I feel like I can just reset now! So relieved!
