TTC after miscarriage April/May 2020

Hello,

I’ve been on the Jan, Feb, March and April TTC after miscarriage threads and I’m hoping so much this will be the month for rainbow babies 🌈

My story so far ... I have one DS who is 9yrs, will be 10 this summer. My hubby and I have been TTC number 2 since September 2018. We had our first natural MC in May 2019 at 11 weeks and then a ectopic PG in October 2019, I lost my left tube with this pregnancy too. I recently had a chemical PG in Feb 2020.

I would love some company on this TTC journey. It can be such a stressful and emotional experience and the Mumsnet threads have been such a source of comfort for me these last few months.

I’m currently on my TWW so fingers crossed 🤞 and baby dust to all the hopeful parents out there 💛

Hello everyone, I’ve been following this thread but never got the courage to post.

Here’s my story:
I found out I was pregnant on 9 April, my husband and I were SO happy since we’ve been TTC since November 2019 and this would be our first baby. Based off LMP I would be 5wks. Exactly 1wk later (16 April), I started spotting which progressed to light bleeding within an hour. I was so worried that I decided to go to the ER (luckily I work in a hospital, so it was just a quick walk down the hall) They conducted 2 types of ultrasounds. The doc said that they couldn’t see anything because it may be ‘too early’ and that there was nothing wrong in my Fallopian tubes, so they ruled out ectopic pregnancy. The doc diagnosed me w/ ‘Threatened Miscarriage w/ pregnancy of unknown location’ and mentioned to my OB of what was going on. The next day I received a call from an OB nurse who informed me they will conduct an ultrasound in 2wks to see if anything progressed. Even though I knew I shouldn’t stress, the ‘waiting game’ was killing me. I wanted answers...

I continued to have light bleeding the next 4days with small clots here and there. Then on the 5th day, while I was in a meeting, I felt like I had bled through my uniform. I rushed to the bathroom, looked and saw my pad almost completely full after just changing it a little over an hour ago. As I’m sitting in the ER patient room, I felt this gush (sorry TMI) was coming out. I rushed to the bathroom and I was just passing so much clots. The doc came in and did a pelvic exam, first thing she said was she could see a big clot trying to pass and took it out with forceps, put it in a test cup, then sent it to pathology. She also saw that my cervix was open and informed me to prepare for the worse. I asked the nurse who was with her if they were confirming that I’m miscarrying and the nurse just tried to calm me down. They had me do another vaginal ultrasound, but the technician could not answer any of my questions about what she saw. After about an hour since the ultrasound, the doc came in and confirmed that I was in the process of miscarrying. I felt like the walls were closing in on me, I had no one there to comfort me since they told my husband he could not be in there with me because of COVID. After I was discharged, I took a few days off of work and decided to rest. Resting did help a lot, bleeding slowed down as the days passed.

My husband and I decided we were ready to try again as soon as I stop bleeding. Fast forward to 2wks later (since 16 April), bleeding stopped. Husband and I were quick to start trying again, had unprotected sex 3 times. Light spotting came a day later (super light pink/brown discharge sorry TMI) I haven’t had my period since finding out I was pregnant, so I’m hoping this is AF making her visit so I can get back to tracking when I’m ovulating.

Took a pregnancy test because I wasn’t sure if my HCG levels had even dropped, and got a BFP...

I’m so confused what is going on, and I’m hoping my husband and I can conceive soon.

DisneyMummySince2010 · 03/05/2020 22:29

Hello @yeeelhsa
I’m so sorry for your loss💛 it must be so fresh and painful right now.
If you’re still getting a BFP it might be worth contacting your local EPU to see if you are newly expecting (hopefully) or retaining products from your previous pregnancy.
Fingers crossed for your 🌈

@DisneyMummySince2010

Thank you! I get my HCG levels tested again tomorrow since I miscarried. Husband and I are really hoping this is a new pregnancy. If not, we want to get the 'go ahead' soon, since my husband will be leaving next month for work for the next 4-6months.

HelloBaby99 · 07/05/2020 22:32

Hi Everyone!
I hope it is okay that I hope on here!

I miscarried at "11 weeks" although pregnancy was deemed unviable at 8 weeks. Baby only grew until 6 weeks. Had to take misoprotosol as nothing was happening on its own.

Bleeding was about one week - on day 11 I had really bad lower pain on one side and back - I thought I was getting sick but I think maybe if possible this had something to do with ovulation. Days 12, 13, 14, 15 I had plenty EWCM (egg-white cervical mucus) and no more bleeding. We TTC (trying to conceive) all of those days - as these threads have given me comfort on not waiting a cycle if feeling well.

I am now one week past ovulation and feeling a bit queasy and tired - similar to one week after I was pregnant the first time. On day 12 my BETA was 95HCG. It will be interesting to see if it was possible to conceive with it in my system... Will need to wait one more week before a test.

Has anyone knowingly ovulated with HCG in their system?

HelloBaby99 · 07/05/2020 22:41

@yeeelhsa

Hi! I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
I also miscarried on April 16th. It seems as though you didn't really wait a cycle (unknowingly or not) - for TTC which we didn't either. I am wondering - did you take a test after the MC to get a negative? I think I ovulated, but I only got my first negative test yesterday - but still might have gotten pregnant with some residual HCG.

Did they check your BETA after your MC?

Wishing you well!

yeeelhsa · 08/05/2020 06:12

@HelloBaby99

sorry to hear about your loss.
husband and i didn’t wait for my next cycle. as soon as i stopped bleeding i had EWCM and figured i was ovulating, so we thought it was the best time to try.

when i found out i was miscarrying (2wks ago) my hcg was at around 2000. 2 days ago was my first beta test since then - they were at 547. i’m hoping (even if it sounds impossible) that my hcg levels were low enough at the time we were TTC, and this may be a new pregnancy.

DisneyMummySince2010 · 08/05/2020 07:45

Hi @HelloBaby99 I’m really sorry for your loss 💛 I’m not to sure about how hcg affects conception but there has been lots of stories about women conceiving the first month after mc so must be possible!

Well, I’m 11 dpo and got this result! I swear I can see something but hubby said he can’t so feel like I’m going mad 😩 can anyone else see a v v v faint something?

@DisneyMummySince2010
It’s super faint but I see what you mean!!! Maybe try again in a few days first thing in the morning?!

Sorry there are many threads - did you take and get a negative before trying again?

HelloBaby99 · 08/05/2020 13:39

@yeeelhsa

It’s really good you got your BETAS so you at least have the information!

When is your AF due? Mine would be thursday I’m going to test then.

yeeelhsa · 09/05/2020 04:50

@HelloBaby99

AF was due on the 2nd (has never changed except in april when i found out i was pregnant) which was the day i started light bleeding again after stopping for a few days. i asked my OB if it was possible that it was AF but she kind of gave me a bit of an attitude and said i just have to “wait and see”

Re6ecc4 · 13/05/2020 20:09

Ladies I thought I'd never find you again! Its taken me sooooo long to find this thread!

AmyC2020 · 17/05/2020 13:00

Hi everyone,

Going through miscarriage currently. I had a scan on the 24/4/20 and saw heartbeat but baby was very small - I should’ve been almost 9 weeks and baby measured about 5/6. Confirmed no heartbeat on the 1/5/20, nothing happened so went in for surgical management on the 7th but my cervix wouldn’t open and they didn’t want to force it and cause damage so was sent home for medical management to work. That started pretty much straight away, lots of pain, blood and clots for the next few days. Went back to the hospital on the 13th. They confirmed most had passed just a few clots left over. I’ve got to go back next week to check everything has now cleared but I’m pretty sure it has as quite a few clots came out over the past few days. I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests though and I’m just wondering how long it takes for your hormone levels to drop? I seem to have stopped bleeding now as haven’t had any since Friday morning.
Has anyone else been in this position and can give any advice? I want to start TTC as soon as I get the negative result as I’ll just track ovulation to know dates etc.
Tia. X

Hi @AmyC2020 , I'm so sorry for everything you have been going through. That sounds really tough. I'm sure it is good that you are looking to the future. I'm afraid I can't answer your question. I had a straightforward MC in April, after just 5 weeks and 5 days. I started ovulation tracking a week after the bleeding started, and recorded a peak on CD17 (if the start of the bleed was CD1). I know that's not much use to you in your situation but just wanted to reach out.

AC2020 · 18/05/2020 13:36

@TinaTurtle
Thank you. I'm sorry for what you have been through as well. It's such a difficult thing to experience and can be very isolating especially with the range of emotions in a short space of time.
Hopefully, I'll find out more when I see the doctor. Just thought I'd check on here as even though it's not really talked about it seems miscarriages are so common maybe someone has been through similar to me.

Good luck for the future 😊

Bojangles18 · 24/05/2020 23:40

I wondered if I could join ?
I lost my daughter one day before her due date in October 2019 . She was called Robyn and was perfectly healthy but my placenta failed her . It’s taken a lot of time and talks for me and my partner to get to this point of wanting to try again . We need hope again .
This is our first month ttc and I’m on cycle day 13 nearly 14(nearly midnight)
I have had flashing smiley faces on clear blue advanced ovulation sticks for 5 days so ovulation has got to be pending right ?
Has anyone been in my situation and gone on to have healthy babies ?
Any tips for trying ?
Thanks so much

AC2020 · 25/05/2020 10:22

@Bojangles18 I'm so sorry for what you have been through.
I haven't got an experiences that might help you but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone on here.
Good luck x

Bumblebee04 · 19/06/2020 13:19

Hi everyone x I’m so sorry to just jump on, I’ve been reading posts all morning going out of my mind and been on several threads, thought I’d just sign up so I can actually try and get some answers I don’t know if anyone has been in my position or an shed some light on what yous have already read or seen...
So I had a miscarriage at 15+4 weeks on the 4th may, long and stressful as are all but basically I had bled for 3weeks then and had been testing hpt wanting to know when my body would be sort of normal and when to expect my period, I’m not trying to conceive again and I actually split with my partner 2 weeks before I lost my baby angel boy, anyway so by 2nd June my hpt was negative and midwife at epu said to expect my period around 2 weeks from that, so anyway I was (well I duno what I was thinking tbh) but I thought I couldn’t get pregnant again until after I’d have my first period and one night when I finally braved opening my baby memory box I’d invited my ex to see it with me as we hadn’t been in it yet anyway as you can guess we kinda dtd and then I started spotting on Monday just gone exactly 6 weeks from my miscarriage on the 4th, then Tuesday just slight blood brown when wiping and again Wednesday but yesturday more blood still dark not exactly red n same again today, I was under the impression my first period from miscarriage would be very heavy and painful then yesturday I started feeling nauseous and I’ve been so so tired for 3 days more so yesturday and today, I went and got some cheapies (a different cheapie brand that used before) and straight away faint line but then thought I didn’t time and wasn’t possible so did another half hour later and again could swear I seen a line but barely visible this time, then did a hpt this morning and again I see a line, I don’t know if I’m going out of my mind or not, I’ve called drs and then called back and cancelled my tc as don’t want to waste there time if it’s normal, I’m still bleeding will this be just a surge of hormone from my miscarriage in may, we kinda went at it like rabbits over 3 days around a week ago I’m so confused I just don’t know what’s normal or anything anymore x is there anyone who has advice (literally any would be grateful) or maybe been in same position x so sorry this is long thank you if you get chance to read it xx

AC2020 · 19/06/2020 13:44

@Bumblebee04
I'm really sorry for what you've been through. It's a horrible experience. My miscarriage started on the 1st May, I got my not pregnant result on the 23rd and then my period came 12th June but I did ovulate in between miscarriage and period according to ovulation tests. The period wasn't heavy or more painful than normal it was like they always are.
If you've previously had a not pregnant result after your miscarriage and are now getting a pregnant result is could be you are pregnant again. Maybe wait a week and test again to see if the line gets any stronger. Fingers crossed for you 🌈

Bumblebee04 · 19/06/2020 14:40

I’m so sorry for your loss too Hun x it’s definatly not an easy experience x thank you so much for your reply though it means a lot and probably is the best advice to just wait and test again then I’d know for sure instead of driving myself crazy maybe it is just the start of my first period of yours was around 3weeks after your negative then mine would be start of next week which isn’t that far out I guess either x I think I just expected from what I’d heard and seen that it was going to be really painful and full on messy, and then with 5 days of hardly anything x maybe my body is playing tricks on me lol I am feeling so drained and exhausted even day napping today and then the nausea yesturday and today x I did another hpt after I posted this and it’s just as faint as my second one yesturday x I’m thinking a rush of hormones or something xx well I your ok anyway and wish you all the luck and happiness hun xx

AC2020 · 19/06/2020 14:56

@Bumblebee04
I was told that my period would come within 3 weeks as I was 10 weeks along but baby had stopped growing around 6 weeks. And it was near enough bang on 3 week after negative test. I think that the further along you are the longer it can take for your period to come after mc but everyone is different. It's a really horrible waiting game but you never know, you might have gotten lucky this month but if not it'll happen again for you. Take care xx

Bumblebee04 · 19/06/2020 15:23

Aw I’m so sorry 💔 it’s heartbreaking xx I was 15 weeks when they seen my sack had no waters in 😢 and he battled on for another week before it ended x I didn’t get a negative test until the 4th week and then if this is the start of period near enough 2 weeks after that I honestly don’t even think I’ll have ovulated now I’m thinking about it, do you still ovulate before a negative test I honestly thought it was after your first period to reboot your cycle again x if you were using opks how long after your negative did you ovulate or easier how many days before your period started did you x if you don’t mind me asking that is x I know a hundred questions probably isn’t what you want I’m just still overthinking everything xx I’m not actually with my partner we broke up 2wks before my waters because I caught him thieving from me 😢 and not that I wouldn’t want to have a baby again I just don’t think my head and heart are even ready for it yet I’m not in a good place still but getting there slowly I guess but yeah I mean of course I’d never not wish for a baby so yeah 🤞 if that’s the case then it would be it’s own blessing xx I really hope you get your rainbow baby 🌈 xx

AC2020 · 19/06/2020 15:41

According to the ovulation kit, I ovulated a week after negative result then period came two weeks later.
From what I've read people ovulate after mc before next period which is how some people get pregnant again before a period. Think it just depends on luck. From what I've read some doctors seem to think you're more fertile after mc but how true that is I'm not sure.
It takes time to get your head right ❤️

Bumblebee04 · 19/06/2020 16:24

I hadn’t even been reading about it until today after my mc I asked about contraception and my doctor said well wait until after first period as I had still had stuff inside ect so was longer mc than we expected I was just told no sex n tampons for 2 weeks incase of infection which I ended up getting anyway so was antibiotics twice and then finally on 10th they did a last scan and my body is reabsorbing the left over matter but because I’d had a negative test on the 2nd they said that around 2wks for my period which is actually around now I guess, I think I panicked with the symptoms a bit maybe and got my mind into overdrive x I’m one of them that would definatly rather know now than later lol hate waiting x but I’m thinking if mine was similar to yours maybe I ovulated last week then which would be roughly give or take a week after my negative so I guess I can’t exactly rule anything out xx defo have to just wait it out and test next week maybe to double check cos otherwise ill defo end up crazier than normal lol xx thank yu again hun so much xx

Bumblebee04 · 21/06/2020 13:15

@AC2020 hi lovely x I’m sorry to bother you again, was just wondering if I could use your eyes x I’ve been doing cheapie tests as you no and I’m adamant they were faint lines but then did a Lloyd’s own yesturday and thought again I could see a line then was panicking thinking aw they might all be Evaps even though the lines come up in the time frame not after, I’m guna do a frer in a bit cos did another cheapie this morning and again feel like there’s a line x would you mind having a look xx the first is 2 days ago the 2nd yesturday tea time and then the last is this morning x I’m going out of my mind Confused

AC2020 · 21/06/2020 13:27

Hi @Bumblebee04 I can't see any pictures. I would recommend using a clear blue digital because that says pregnant or not pregnant and will give you weeks estimate so they are much more reliable than the cheaper tests x
