TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Mumlili9 · 25/02/2020 03:22

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Hi @Kate105 I'm so sorry for your loss. I also lost my right tube and first pregnancy in September (24th) but didn't have methotrexate so don't have to wait 3 months. I tried straight away but no luck last month and have just got my first flashing smiley for this cycle. Like you I'm scared of it happening again but at least feel a bit more prepared for things to look out for.

There's been lots of positive outcomes for people on this thread so it can definitely work out ok!

DoctorBambino · 09/11/2020 19:23

To those who had a tube removed.. did it get sent for a histology and if so did you ever get any further info? Mine apparently was sent off but I haven't heard anything back and the hospital weren't sure when I rang..

Hopeful2611 · 09/11/2020 20:29

Hi Bambino

I had my tube removed and got a histology done I called the hospital they told me to talk to the consultant in charge, I got through to his secretary she said they only contact you if there is something wrong and they need to follow up otherwise it would be just be a confirmed ectopic

Ivybutterfly · 09/11/2020 20:37

I had my tubes removed. What is a histology? It was never mentioned to me.

Hopeful2611 · 09/11/2020 22:25

They will only offer it you if the tube didnt fully rupture, they check the tube to see if there was a reason why the ectopic happened

Ivybutterfly · 10/11/2020 08:05

Thank you. My tube did rupture.

Hopeful2611 · 10/11/2020 10:33

So sorry to hear that

I had my left tube removed and have been ttc for 4 months without any luck and now on to the 5th cycle, so happy that you're having a baby Ivy after what you've been through this thread gives me so much hope

Ivybutterfly · 10/11/2020 10:47

Thank you @Hopeful2611 It took me 10 cycles. I threw everything at it. Lol. Good luck. Xx

Sammyclaire22 · 10/11/2020 15:07

I had my baby sent off and I assume the tube too, was told it was all normal so just bad luck I guess.
It's totally normal to be scared about trying again, an ectopic is a huge thing to get your head around. I've fallen pregnant 3 times since my surgery, once the month after (my now 2yo) and then when we were ttc 5 months in which was an early mc, then a few months later and I'm now 29w. Every single time its terrifying as well as exciting when you get the two lines, esp if you are like me and used frer stupidly early (every month Blush) and then have to wait weeks before they will do the early scan! I ruptured at 6w exactly too so waiting to 6 weeks before my scan was awful wondering if I would rupture again before they found it, plus this time round I had to go alone with covid. I found my mc much easier to deal with as it felt more natural, whereas with the ectopic I had to agree to have surgery and knowing the baby had a heartbeat still makes me feel guilty even though I knew we both wouldn't have lasted to the end of the day. Not sure if that makes sense.

But, its all worth the wait and the worry and the pain. Like ivy I threw everything at it! It took us 12m to ever get a positive line before my ectopic (hubby has a varocele so that adds to our issues) so ttc i used opks, bbt, conceive plus, sat with my arse in the air after dtd, followed the smep then also took supplements the last few months ttc! But it worked, and this bubs is from my tubeless side so it pays to try each month. Good luck ladies x

DoctorBambino · 10/11/2020 18:41

@hopeful2611 thanks thats interesting, my tube had ruptured but they still sent the tissue for analysis. I guess as I haven't heard anything they couldn't tell me anything 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Sammyclaire22 that must have been so heartbreaking I can totally understand what you mean. I love that your baby is from your tubeless side, that is so cool! And very reassuring!

flobbadobba · 10/11/2020 22:09

I'm awaiting the histology report too. Mine
Was removed 23rd September, I have just got the form to request my notes and scans too!

Kate105 · 11/11/2020 07:00

Thank you all for your lovely replies, it’s such a relief (although in another way really awful) that there are so many of you out there! I’m sorry it’s happened to you but I’m glad you’re here if that makes sense! I think my tube might have been sent off for histology too but I assume that no news is good news... Certainly after the surgery the surgeon said they couldn’t see any reason for it happening. If it was just bad luck then hopefully my luck will change!

ChasingRainbow · 11/11/2020 16:37

Hi ladies, long time lurker and occassional poster here 👋
Just thought to check in to see how you are all doing.
Currently in the tww and feeling generally odd. 10dpo and while I know its waaay to early, I tested just now (frer) and BFN.
Honestly thought this month might be it, had my surgery in May 20 and after some time to rest, this will be our 3rd cycle since removal of my right tube. We have no children yet and feeling very under pressure given our ages (Im 37, hes 39)

Anyway, hoping everyone is keeping well.
Anyone keep getting throbbing/ aching the side the tube was removed? This is me most cycles since, six months later

Hopeful2611 · 11/11/2020 17:21

Thank you ladies for all your warm wishes I do hope our time will come soon, I am currently using concieve plus and just recently bought the ava bracelet it will be the second cycle using it now so that helps with bbt

@ChasingRainbow I hope this is the month for you! And yes I do have aching on the side of the tube that's been removed

Chica1990 · 11/11/2020 21:59

I’m so glad there is a thread for this! I had my ectopic and left tube removed on 6th October. Part of me now feels like it’s ages ago but sometimes I feel like it could have been yesterday.

I’ve been TTC since July 2019 and can’t believe after all this time I’ve had this outcome. I feel like I’ll never get what I feel like everyone around me is experiencing - a pregnancy with a baby at the end.

I was told to wait until I’ve had one period which I think is trying to break through now. I want to start trying again but in a way just don’t want more bad news again, if that makes sense.

Kate105 · 12/11/2020 06:56

That definitely makes sense @Chica1990 in one way I’m so keen to get trying again and on the other hand I’m terrified about something going wrong again. I’m just trying to tell myself that there’s only one way to find out what will happen if I get pregnant again...!

ChasingRainbow · 12/11/2020 20:54

@Kate105 and @Chica1990 yep me too!
I find it best not to think too much about what could go wrong again, just hope for the best. Im still feeling odd today. Think I might do a frer in a day or two. Having lots of symptoms but trying to not allow myself to become obsessed on the symptom watching just to be disappointed when AF arrives.

Thanks for confirming that im not experiencing phantom cramps @Hopeful2611! X

Kate105 · 13/11/2020 06:58

Oh good luck @ChasingRainbow 🤞🏻! Let us know how you get on! When is AF due?

Springandsummer123 · 14/11/2020 07:28

Welcome to all the newbies. Sorry you have to be here!
Please have hope, I got pregnant on our 4th month after surgery (threw everything at it....digi ovulation sticks, conception vitamins for both of us, pre-seed, temperature checking etc).
I'm now 24 weeks. Stay positive & look after yourselves xxx

MrsB2019x · 14/11/2020 14:00

Good luck @ChasingRainbow, have you tested again?

yesitcould · 15/11/2020 10:28

Hi

Can I join please. I've had 2 ectopics ☹️ 1 surgical removal of tube and 1 self resolving. The second was in the stump of the tube. Thankfully both under 7 weeks. I am trying one last time as I think surely I can't be unlucky enough for it to happen 3 times. I have no risk factors other than being in my 40s but obviously time is running out and even if I can conceive again and it's not ectopic I've got all the increased risks of miscarriage 50/50 apparently so I'm not hopeful ☹️ but trying anyway

ChasingRainbow · 16/11/2020 11:09

Just to update. AF arrived with full force yesterday. Honestly felt totally different this cycle and had clung on to a teeny bit of hope. But no. Im okay though, having a wee bit of a pity party but sure sometimes thats helpful! Thanks girls x

flobbadobba · 16/11/2020 12:01

I've filled in the form for an ivf consultation!!! I feel like that's a big step but I need to at least try!

Hopeful2611 · 19/11/2020 18:05

@ChasingRainbow hope your next cycle is better! X

@flobbadobba definitely a big step good luck! X

Kate105 · 19/11/2020 19:04

I’m just lurking for now but I’m due on in a week and after that AF I am hopefully going to start TTC again! Wildly swinging between shitting myself and mega excited, glad to have some company who knows what I’m going through! Onwards and upwards @ChasingRainbow and @flobbadobba! Exciting times!
