TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Can I have some advice please? When should I go to the EPU? I am 5 weeks Friday, I think. Last period was 4 September. Xx

MrsB2019x · 06/10/2020 17:45

@Ivybutterfly Mine told me in subsequent pregnancies they would scan me at 6 weeks x

ScottishStardust · 06/10/2020 17:56

Hi @Ivybutterfly , I phoned EPU where I live and was told due to covid they were not doing precautionary scans and only scanning if there is symptoms or concerns. We ended up booking a private scan for reassurance.

I would call them now to see if they your area is doing precautionary scans or not. I was disappointed but it wasn't the poor girl that had to tell me the news' fault.

Ivybutterfly · 06/10/2020 18:10

Thank you xx

Springandsummer123 · 08/10/2020 06:46

@Ivybutterfly I rang the ward I was on when I had my ectopic. They booked me in for a scan at 5w4 at my local hosp. Couldn't see much but saw the sac was in the correct location. They then got me back at 7 weeks too for another progress check.
Maternity services should be carrying on as normal, they are in my area. Hope you can get booked in. I remember how nervous I was the first few weeks x

Ivybutterfly · 08/10/2020 07:17

Thank you. They told me to come in on Tuesday. ❤️❤️ Xx

Ivybutterfly · 08/10/2020 09:40

I checked and I was seven and a half weeks when I ruptured.

Springandsummer123 · 08/10/2020 11:18

That's great you get to have a scan on Tuesday! Should really put your mind at ease. Let us know how you get on xx

adviceneededplease224 · 08/10/2020 11:36

Glad you managed to get a scan @Ivybutterfly

Good news from me.. my hcg has dropped to zero so I don't need methotrexate or surgery

I've never been happier to be not pregnant!

Not sure whether we will try again or not .. but you all seem like lovely supportive ladies so I'll stay on this thread

Ivybutterfly · 08/10/2020 13:38

I will do. @adviceneededplease224 I am so glad to hear that. Do whatever is right for you. You know what is good for you. Definitely stay on the thread. It is a great group. Xx

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if I could ask for some advice... I had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy last Friday and I was wondering when you stopped bleeding? The bleeding is definitely a lot lighter since having the surgery but I still need to wear a pad. I was just wondering how long it took for people to get back to normal?

Ivybutterfly · 08/10/2020 14:28

I cannot remember exactly but I think it was a week. Sorry for your loss and bad experience. Get well soon. Xxx

Intrigued2020 · 08/10/2020 14:46

@Ivybutterfly - Thank you for sharing your experience, I am sorry that you went through this as well :( Hopefully that will mean that mine will come to an end soon. I just need to get back to normal so I can move forward. I’m going to Cornwall for a few days on the weekend with my partner so I’m hoping that will help xx

Springandsummer123 · 08/10/2020 15:03

@Intrigued2020 welcome and hope you're feeling ok.
I can't remember how long the bleeding went on for but I think it was exactly 6 weeks until I got my period back and cycles went back to normal. X

Intrigued2020 · 08/10/2020 15:12

@Springandsummer123 - Thanks for sharing! I’m sorry to hear that you went through this as well. I’m really not sure how long it’s going to take my body to go back to normal but it’s nice to hear from other people who have experienced it. Hopefully I will get my normal cycle back soon 👌 xx

ScottishStardust · 08/10/2020 18:22

Aww that's great they are taking you in to check you and baby over! Wish my area did that!! Fingers crossed xx

DoctorBambino · 08/10/2020 18:41

@intrigued2020 I had my surgery two weeks ago, I only bled very lightly for 2 days but had already been bleeding for 2 weeks before the surgery. I hope yours eases off soon and so sorry you've had to go through this shit experience. I finally got a negative on a frer yesterday, surgery on 24th

Intrigued2020 · 08/10/2020 20:28

@DoctorBambino - really! Ahh okay, that’s good to know. I’m sorry that it happened to you as well. I was bleeding for 18 days before I had the surgery and it’s now been a week and still bleeding :( they have given me a pregnancy test to take in two weeks time and if it’s positive or if I still have bleeding I need to let them know. I just can’t wait to not have a pad in! I feel like I wish I had never came off the pill to have a baby now, definitely will need time off before thinking about it again 😫😫 xx

fawnyspawn · 09/10/2020 13:11

Has anyone had both tubes removed? I had this done a few months ago and now wondering if I should try ivf in the future as I have a dc and wonder if I should be happy with what I have? I could spend fortunes and be end up so disappointed.

Ivybutterfly · 09/10/2020 15:32

If you really want a baby then I think you should go for it. You could ask your GP if they can cover any costs. Definitely see a fertility doctor and weigh up your options. Xx

DoctorBambino · 11/10/2020 16:34

I got a flashing smiley on my clear blue today, 17 days post tube removal. My doctors didn't mention waiting so I'm getting straight back on ttc. Hoping what you hear about being more fertile after a loss is true 🤞

Ivybutterfly · 11/10/2020 17:02

Good luck! ❤️❤️ Xx

fawnyspawn · 12/10/2020 10:41

Wow amazing, and your brave!! I avoid sex for months after mine 😂

Ivybutterfly · 13/10/2020 09:50

It’s not an ectopic! 🍾🍾🍾
