TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Yes to the wine. Levels dropping is good. You could get progesterone from a private fertility clinic/doctor. I would go and see your GP and see what they can do. Try and keep your head up. It is so hard, I know. Do what is right for you. Sending lots of love. I, xx

Hi everyone, I had a ruptured ectopic and right tube removed on 24th Sept. Still recovering from the surgery but trying to be optimistic and thinking ahead to ttc again asap. I've got a blood test tomorrow to check that my hcg has dropped sufficiently as there was some left over pregnancy tissue stuck to my pelvis after surgery.

Really hoping that has resolved itself (how I dont know!) and that we can quickly resume ttc. I'm 32 and it took us 5 cycles to conceive the ectopic pregnancy. The doctor said my other tube looked a bit swollen so we are considering some fertility assessments privately to look into that too.

This all feels so unfair but it has been comforting to read through everyone else's experiences on here 🤍

So sorry to hear of your ordeal @DoctorBambino

So bad news from me. Blood levels have increased to 212.. suspect another ectopic and I have to have a scan tomorrow. I can't believe it's happening again!

I'm bleeding but that happened last time I think it's just my womb lining coming away.

I really hope it can be managed without surgery as I don't want to go through that again and also without methotrexate as I am running ( or have already run!) out of time to try again.

I'm absolutely terrified

DoctorBambino · 01/10/2020 08:36

@adviceneededplease224 I really hope your scan goes ok today and that it can be managed with as little disruption as possible. I'll be thinking of you 🤍

Ivybutterfly · 01/10/2020 11:55

I am so sorry to hear about your loss @DoctorBambino It really is so hard. It is unfair and please allow yourself to know that. I allowed myself to have negative emotions and that helped so much. You are only 32 and that is Still young In fertility terms. Conceiving within 6 months is standard. I hope that all helps. It is unbelievably traumatic to have an ectopic. I will be thinking of you.

@adviceneededplease224 I am so sorry to hear this. It is so unfair to go through it again. I hope it resolves soon and quickly. Sending lots of love. Good luck with the scan. Xxx

Thanks for your thoughts @Ivybutterfly and @DoctorBambino

I've just got back from the hospital and it's another ectopic in the stump of the right tube that goes into the womb. It could have gone anywhere and it went there! Fortunately the levels are so low that the dr thinks it might resolve itself and is going to give it a week to see if levels drop before suggesting methotrexate

Im hoping if I do all the things that you are not supposed to do in Pregnancy like drinking coffee and alcohol that it will resolve itself without the need for an injection as I want to try and keep my options open for trying again.

I think my chances of having another successful pregnancy are pretty low to be honest but the dr was really nice and said if I did want to try again that they would monitor and look after me. To be honest the care I have received from the EPU has been amazing

I asked the dr how many people he had seen with multiple ectopics and he said lots and he had seen one lady who had 4 ectopics before 😩

It's such shit luck. I've no risk factors that I'm aware of other than being old ☹️

DoctorBambino · 01/10/2020 17:01

@adviceneededplease224 that is so shit, I'm so sorry for you 😔 sounds like a plan to get on the coffee and alcohol! Maybe some intense jumping!?

I'm glad you have found the epu helpful. Mine have been pretty terrible, I removed my bandages this morning to discover an incision rather than keyhole on one of my surgery wounds which they didn't bother to tell me about. They also had no record of this in my surgery notes 🙄

Interesting you say you don't have any of the risk factors, I dont either. No previous surgery, no infections, not a smoker. Just shit luck.

I really hope it resolves itself 💛

coffeewithmilk · 01/10/2020 17:38

@adviceneededplease224 I'm so sorry this has happened to you.
I had my first ectopic with left tube removal in February, and again another ectopic in the left tubal stump in June. Had ongoing hcg levels for 12 weeks after the surgery in June.
I am so sorry and I know nothing anyone says will make it any easier, but you're not alone and I empathise with you.
Sending 💐 xx

Ivybutterfly · 01/10/2020 18:38

Apparently high intensity exercise and eating too much protein raises your risk. I did both. 😕

Ivybutterfly · 02/10/2020 08:10
