TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Mumlili9 · 25/02/2020 03:22

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Aww that's so sweet @Ivybutterfly. We did, just Thursday past! Everything is where is should be and we even got a wee heartbeat! Feels a bit more real, but still nervous as things could still go wrong.

Told my brother yesterday who told me that for the rest of my life I'll worry something will happen it him/her so just to get used to it!

How you keeping? X

Ivybutterfly · 13/09/2020 22:04

I am so happy for you. Yeah!! I was putting a little pray your way. I am good. I am trying to stay busy and not obsess. Focusing on work and keeping the house clean. I think that is better for my mental health. Fingers crossed I will get my BFP this month. Xxx

MrsB2019x · 14/09/2020 06:36

Morning ladies,

So glad your scan went well @ScottishStardust! Here’s to a happy and healthy 9 months ☺️

I am CD2 today ☹️ I was so gutted when the witch showed her face yesterday. Like I’m always disappointed but there was something about yesterday that left me devastated.

Good luck for your window @Ivybutterfly 🤞

Ivybutterfly · 14/09/2020 07:26

@MrsB2019x hugs. Xx

Sammyclaire22 · 14/09/2020 21:37

Congrats @ScottishStardust lovely news!
My eldest post ectopic is now 2 and I still worry about something happening to her, I think it's a parent thing as well as having experienced a loss.
Good luck for this month @ivybutterfly!

I'm sorry to hear this month was particular tough @mrsb2019x, some months just seem to hit the nerve more than others and its hard to pick yourself up again and dust yourself off again. I hope this month is easier for you x

Ivybutterfly · 14/09/2020 21:47

I agree @Sammyclaire22 @MrsB2019x Last months period hit me hard too as I hd the miscarriage and then my friend was pregnant at the same time. It would have been nice to have little ones together. I also think there are so many hormones involved. Sometimes I feel things with no rhythm or reason. Fingers crossed for the rest of us this month. Xx

Dimples81 · 15/09/2020 07:13

Hi everyone. Had ectopic in December (left ovary ovulation, right tube) but was lucky and still have both tubes. First month of actively trying after ntnp since may. 39 so time not on my side! Good luck to everyone this month.

Ivybutterfly · 15/09/2020 09:41

So sorry for your loss @Dimples81 It is so hard. I have been trying for a while. My ectopic was in December last year. I hope you get lucky this month. I am late-30s too. The stats are not too bad if you look at them. After 45 is when it gets really hard apparently. Fingers crossed! Xxx

MrsB2019x · 15/09/2020 12:41

@Ivybutterfly @Sammyclaire22 Thanks girls 💙 Feeling a bit better today, just need to keep moving forward.

So sorry for your loss @Dimples81 xx

Dimples81 · 15/09/2020 21:47

Thank you ladies, hopefully we will all get lucky x

Mumlili9 · 15/09/2020 23:40

@Mumlili9 I am so glad you are finally getting some help. I hope it all works out. Fingers crossed. I am praying for lots of baby dust for everyone. Xx

Ivybutterfly · 24/09/2020 20:05

I am 2 days DPO and already itching to take a test. Grin My CB peak OP was the 21st. I have a bad stabbing pain in my vagina. I am hope it is a good sign. Lol! How is everyone? Xx

BasalGanglia · 25/09/2020 11:42

Good luck @Ivybutterfly!

I'm CD3 at the minute, getting frustrated as my cycles seem to be getting shorter and I've been reading things that say this is linked to lower fertility. I'm 35 soon and TTC number 1 so overthinking everything.

Ivybutterfly · 25/09/2020 13:06

When I got pregnant with DS my cycles were short. I am over 35. A lot of my friends are pregnant. They are over 35. Fertility doesn’t just drop off a cliff. What about going to the doctor for a FSH and AMA test? I think that is correct. They check your hormones. I had it recently. Fingers crossed xxx

Ivybutterfly · 25/09/2020 13:07

I saw something called proconcieve. I am going to buy that if I don’t get lucky this month. Xx

BasalGanglia · 25/09/2020 17:17

I know I'll probably be ok, it only took 2 months to conceive last time (my ectopic) but trying to conceive does strange things to an otherwise rational mind!

When are you planning to test @Ivybutterfly ?

Ivybutterfly · 25/09/2020 18:25

It really does! I think I will test next weekend. I have a long cycle. I got one of those early pt. Have a good weekend. Xx

adviceneededplease224 · 26/09/2020 13:39

Hi all

It's been heartbreaking reading some of your stories and also inspiring

I had an ectopic last year and a right tube removal at 7 weeks.

I'm now pregnant again ( got my BFP) about a week and a half a ago. I've had some discomfort on the tubeless side do managed to get an early scan where nothing was seen ( I think k I'm about 5 weka) so they diagnosed PUL and ordered bloods my results were 234 HCG and only 17.4 progesterone so the nurse thinks that's bad news

I am absolutely terrified that it's another ectopic in the stump that's left behind as I can't think what else could be causing the discomfort in the tubeless side.

I have to go back today for more bloods and then get results Monday
I am terrified

So sorry for what you went through @Ivybutterfly and @coffeewithmilk

coffeewithmilk · 26/09/2020 14:09

I'm really sorry @adviceneededplease224
The only advice I can give is to try not to get yourself worried and panicked and just see what they say at the next appointment. I know it's completely easier said than done.
Thankfully you've found this really supportive thread.
Will be thinking of you x

Ivybutterfly · 26/09/2020 14:44

Oh @adviceneededplease224 I am so sorry to hear that and sorry for your loss. If they cannot see anything I would hold onto that. It would be rare for it to be behind the stump.
They did not see anything when I had my miscarriage. I think I was five weeks. In the end it sorted itself out and I had what felt like a very bad period. Be pushy with the medical staff if you need to. They can be dismissive in my experience.

Thank you for your kind words. Xx

adviceneededplease224 · 26/09/2020 15:36

Thanks ladies

I'm trying to keep positive but I can't stop worrying. It took me a long time to get over the surgery both physically and mentally, dreading going through it again.

Will try and keep busy so i can't think about it xx

Mumlili9 · 27/09/2020 23:09

@adviceneededplease224 hello and sorry for your loss. I hope you find this thread supportive. As @Ivybutterfly said be pushy if needed it took me 3 weeks to convince epu I had an ectopic and it resulted in me having to have surgery when I may only have need the medication. Sometimes they forget we are people and have rights to proper care.

As for me its a BFN again its been 7 months since my surgery and nothing

OP posts:
Ivybutterfly · 28/09/2020 16:05

7 months is not that long. I have been trying for 8 months. It can take 12 months for any couple. I was told that within 2 years women with previous ectopics have 85% chance. I will cross everything that you (and we all) get pregnant soon. Lots of baby dust to everyone. Xx

adviceneededplease224 · 29/09/2020 20:28

Update from me the levels dropped to 134 but they wanted more bloods today to check. I've started bleeding so I'm hoping it's a miscarriage. Do you think it would be ok to have a glass of wine tonight?

I don't know whether or not to try again when I finally get back to normal. I'm not sure I can keep going through this and if my progesterone is low because of my age I suppose it will keep happening.

I wonder whether I can get progesterone prescribed privately? Any ideas?
