TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Mumlili9 · 25/02/2020 03:22

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Good luck @ChasingRainbow and @Ivybutterfly got everything crossed for you 🤞

I am 1DPO, think I ovulated on my left (ectopic side) so now gonna be super anxious for the next few weeks. Keep getting twinges there already 😕

Ivybutterfly · 31/08/2020 19:30

@Springandsummer123 Thank you. I am 12 days DPO but my pregnancy tests are the strip ones. They take ages to go positive. I need the clear blue ones. I will take one in a few days.

Thank you and good luck @MrsB2019x xx

How are you @Mumlili9? Xx

ChasingRainbow · 31/08/2020 20:31

@Ivybutterfly thank you so much for your kind words. It truely is such a confusing time (before the ectopic I had 2 consecutive MMC) as they twinges always usually meant pregnancy, now I just dont know. Wishing you some wonderful news and indeed your BFP this month xxx

coffeewithmilk · 31/08/2020 20:33

Hi everyone,
Sorry haven't been on. Have my hopefully last blood test tomorrow. Level last week was 12, they are happy to discharge me once it gets below 5.
Can't believe I had my surgery on June 26th and still have hcg lurking around. What a horrible couple of months. Hoping for tomorrow to be good news and a fresh start of getting my mind and body in a good place to TTC later in the year.
Hope everyone is doing well ❤️ xx

Mumlili9 · 31/08/2020 20:40

Hello ladies. Ive been working on my head and we put trying on hold. The bfn every month is messing me up. Ive also had so much pain since the op and I'm now waiting for a hysteroscopy and hsg now ( thanks covid) so I have pretty much given up. I can't see it ever happening now and I'm not getting younger either.

@coffeewithmilk good luck. You deserve some. Xx

@Mumlili9 I am sorry you are having a tough time. It is so hard. Maybe have unprotected sex while you don’t try. You never know. My cousin tried for 12 years to have a baby and now she has three. Lots of love and good luck.

@ChasingRainbow thank you and good luck. Xx

ChasingRainbow · 31/08/2020 21:47

Thank you @MrsB & SpringSummer.
@Mumlili & @coffeewithmilk..im so sorry to each of you for all you have been through. Life really is shit sometimes, though we gota have faith/ hope/ trust that things will turn out okay in the end. Sending hugs to all in here that needs one xx 💞

MrsB2019x · 31/08/2020 23:11

@coffeewithmilk Fingers crossed for good news! My hospital discharged me once mine got to 13. Strange how different hospitals have different procedures.

@Mumlili9 So sorry you’re having a rough time, sending hugs 💕

ChasingRainbow · 02/09/2020 08:50

Morning lovely ladies.
I tested this morn at 10DPO( I know I know, couldnt help it 🙈) and its a BFN.
Theres a miniscule chance that theres a tiny smudge or indent line but most likely not.
The thing is, this is our fourth time ttc and while the last three pregnancies happened almost immediately each time before, this is our first time ttc since the ectopic.

Can any of you remember feeling odd in your subsequent cycles post surgery? I used to reliably know my bodies signs and symptoms but now I get so many strange aches and twinges down there that I dont know whats what. Had the surgery in May, had two cycles since and now due AF 6th Sept, so the third cycle really. This was the first month I got a solid smiley peak fertility and also used cheapie opk which corresponded.

Hope you are all doing well x 🦋

ChasingRainbow · 02/09/2020 08:52

@Mumlili9 and @coffeewithmilk hope you are both doing okay and taking time to heal x 💐

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 10:03

@ChasingRainbow twinges are normal. I also get more ovulation pain now. I feel so much now. Like there is something moving in there. Sorry about the BFN.

I got a BFN today as well. Sad

ChasingRainbow · 02/09/2020 10:16

Thanks @Ivybutterfly and equally sorry about your BFN. What dpo are you now?
Its all so new and odd. Feeling a little sadder today to realise that I dont even know my own body anymore. Was crazy to think would fall preg again quickly, feeling fairly foolish Blush
Will try again on Friday though fairly confident will be another negative.

On a side note, the consultant I saw post surgery (I wasnt a fan btw) gave me a precription for letrozole/ femara but afterwards having read up about it I was afraid to take due to side effects. He also didnt suggest any follicle tracking scans so I thought why take that if I dont know what ovary im ovulating from. Would be really interested to know any other ladies experiences. Perhaps im being a bit silly. Sorry for the anxiety post!

Sammyclaire22 · 02/09/2020 10:29

@ChasingRainbow don't feel foolish, it's hard when something goes so wrong as an ectopic and then the mind plays tricks with noticing every little twinge which might be totally unrelated bowel stuff. It's so hard. I conceived my dd the month after my surgery, so found it hard this time round knowing that it realistically wouldn't be so soon. In the end it took 7m ttc this time round, with an early mc at about 5m ttc. Its hard to keep going but took us 12m to get pregnant at all before my ectopic! I try to think that the wait made it all the more special for my LG, and for this one brewing now.

I'm not sure what the prescriptions are for, but fwiw I conceived from my tubeless side this time so I tried not to focus too much on guessing which side what ovulating each month as its still possible either way.

It's only now (about 20w preg) that my anxiety is starting to drop off about something going wrong! It feels like there are so many hurdles to get over to even get this far.

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 11:18

@ChasingRainbow your anxiety is completely normal. An ectopic pregnancy is a very big deal. A life-changing event. I was hugely anxious and still am sometimes. I am 14 days DPO. Good luck. Xxxx

MrsB2019x · 02/09/2020 12:04

Sorry for your BFNs @Ivybutterfly @ChasingRainbow Flowers

I feel so many more twinges post-ectopic than I ever did. It makes you so hyper sensitive to everything ☹️

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 12:46

You do become more aware. It is the fear. It is normal. Ectopics are traumatic. Lots of love to everyone. Xx

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 14:02

So my best friend told me she was pregnant today. She knows that I had an ectopic and then a miscarriage. She dropped it into the conversation and said that they weren’t even trying.’ My period is due any moment and now I feel sad and emotional.

MrsB2019x · 02/09/2020 18:28

So sorry @Ivybutterfly, some people just don’t think and assume you’ll be thrilled ☹️ Big hugs x

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 18:39

Oh I am really happy for her. I just wish she had told me in another way. I think she was embarrassed or worried. I think it is hard to know what to say so people tend to say the wrong thing. She has gorgeous little ones and deserves as many as she wants. She is a wonderful person and a brilliant mother. Xx

ChasingRainbow · 02/09/2020 19:38

Oh @Ivybutterfly 🥺
Of course you are happy for your friend but no doubt was a little crushing in that moment. And you are totally allowed feel that. As others have said, some people can say daft things out of sheer lack of knowing what to say. Your time will come lovely. Xx

ChasingRainbow · 02/09/2020 19:43

@Sammyclaire22 congratulations to you,what a great story!

Thanks to you and @MrsB2019x & @Ivybutterfly for your words of wisdom and kindness earlier... you and all the other ladies on hereare all truely inspiring. This group is just amazing support. Hugs to you all 💝 x x

Ivybutterfly · 02/09/2020 20:04

@ChasingRainbow ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Xxx

Sammyclaire22 · 04/09/2020 11:40

I'm sorry @ivybutterfly, I had the same thing happen and it's a horrible mix of jealousy, reminder of the grief, loss, sadness but also happy for them. Especially when the due dates are close to our own would have beens. I still look at her little girl and wonder what mine would have been like. I found it does get a little easier with that friend as time went on, though when you are ttc every pregnancy announcement is tough. X

Ivybutterfly · 04/09/2020 11:48

Thank you @Sammyclaire22 I also had a friend who was pregnant at the same time and had her LO. It can be hard comparing. Xx

Ivybutterfly · 13/09/2020 21:29

How is everyone doing?

Did you manage to get a scan @ScottishStardust I have been thinking of you and hoping.

Waiting for my window this month. Fingers crossed! Xx
