TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

Hi everyone,
I had an ectopic earlier this year which resulted in a natural miscarriage.
Since the ectopic I’ve felt some twinges down there quite often and I’m also now experiencing ovulation pain on both sides whenever I’m ovulating! I started ttc again this month and I’m now in the dreaded tww, I’ve had a few twinges in the left ovary the last few days and now I’m super worried about it! Im pretty sure I ovulated from the right side this month as had pain that side so I’m sure it’s nothing but I don’t have anyone to talk to as I didn’t tell any friends about what happened and I’m driving myself a little crazy! so I thought it might be nice to speak to people that have been through something similar!
Thanks :)

I stopped getting updates at one point too.

@thirteen92 I am so sorry you had another ectopic. That is so unfair. It was so irresponsible for them to keep the damaged tube in. How frustrating. I would keep at them about the IVF. Fingers crossed it happens soon.

@Sammyclaire22 another little girl! How wonderful. Congratulations! FC indeed. Now the 2WW. I hate it. I have no patience whatsoever.

I am so exhausted from all of the bding.

@coffeewithmilk I am so angry you are still dealing with this. It is so unfair on you. I am thinking of you and hoping for the best.

We really do need some good luck! I hope it happens soon. Xxxx

Ivybutterfly · 19/08/2020 11:41

@Roelav1 I am sorry for your loss. Big hugs. I have twinges all of the time. I find I am also super aware of my body and symptoms. Fingers crossed you get lucky. It is good to have this little support group. Xxxx

BasalGanglia · 21/08/2020 16:54

@coffeewithmilk how are your levels doing? Mine dropped off really slowly towards the end so hopefully yours drops faster.

I'm in the two week wait at the minute (first time trying since ectopic) but not feeling any symptoms to speak of. Plus I've just applied for a new job so I've got a few things to keep busy with thankfully.

Ivybutterfly · 21/08/2020 19:25

@coffeewithmilk I hope you are well. Thinking of you a lot.

@BasalGanglia I am in the 2WW too. Trying to keep busy. I have a lot to do for work and stuff. I am going to try to not think about it.

For anyone who does the BBT, how accurate is it? Is your temperature higher in the second half of your period?

Have a great weekend everyone xxx

coffeewithmilk · 22/08/2020 10:56

Hi everyone, sorry I've been a bit MIA. Trying to keep myself busy during the week!
Levels dropped from 160 to 60, so I'm hoping when I go on Wednesday they will be nearly at 0 and I can finally get over this and get on with things.
Thinking of you all
Have a lovely weekend everyone xx

thirteen92 · 22/08/2020 15:05

@coffeewithmilk were you treated with methotrexate? I’m back for my day 7 bloods on Monday, I hope to god they’ve dropped enough!

coffeewithmilk · 22/08/2020 15:10

@thirteen92 no I wasn't given it in the end. I had my ectopic surgery on June 27th and my hcg levels were just left over from then.
It's called trophoblastic disease.
They gave me the option of waiting to see if they would drop or having the methotrexate so I chose not to get it as we are eager to ttc before the end of the year. X

Ivybutterfly · 24/08/2020 10:16

The 2ww is so hard. I took my BBT this morning and it was raised. Does anyone know of it would be elevated for the entire day of pregnant, or just in the morning. I am trying to stay busy and focus on my work, but I am analysing everything. Argh.

Springandsummer123 · 24/08/2020 14:06

@Ivybutterfly I think you can only test BBT first thing in the am before even getting up. Once you're up and moving about your temp rises naturally anyway so that's why BBT is done first thing.
If it has increased this morning that's a good sign you've ovulated! Mine stayed high until I got my BFP then I stopped doing it x

Ivybutterfly · 24/08/2020 14:26

This morning it was high. I took it in bed before anything. Then it went down when I got up. TTC makes you go mad. Lol. I hope everyone is well. Xx

Ivybutterfly · 24/08/2020 14:27

I definitely think I ovulated. I bought the clear blue digital test and used it this month. Xx

Springandsummer123 · 24/08/2020 15:16

Raised BBT confirms that you did then which us great. Let's hope you managed u to to catch it this month! X

Ivybutterfly · 24/08/2020 15:48

Thank you. Fingers crossed! Xx

Springandsummer123 · 24/08/2020 16:48

Not sure if it helps but I got my BFP 10DPO. X

Ivybutterfly · 24/08/2020 17:28

That is useful information. I read the average is nine. Counting the days. Xx

ScottishStardust · 27/08/2020 18:35

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone's doing alright, I've been lurking in the background and keeping an eye on what's been happening.

I suffered and ectopic in 2018, but have only been TTC since February this year! We finally got our BFP this morning, but when I phoned my midwife to make an appointment she advised the EPU are no longer doing early scans for anyone with history of miscarriages or ectopics and essentially I have to wait until my 12 week scan or book privately! This has made me upset as I had very little symptoms last time until it was too late, and ended up with emergency surgery and internal bleeding - surgeons were confused why I hadn't collapsed before hand! 😢

Ivybutterfly · 27/08/2020 19:17

That is not okay. You have to insist. Say you will sue them or go to the GMA(?). Maybe a private scan. Congratulations on the BFP. I hope you get it sorted. Maybe even complain to the newspapers? Xxx

Springandsummer123 · 27/08/2020 19:36

Welcome @ScottishStardust and congrats on the BFP!!!!
I must say I find that really shocking....I think you need to go to EPU direct or go through your GP. I actually called the ward I was on with my ectopic & surgery and they booked me in for a scan at 5w3.
I think it's CRUCIAL you are scanned ASAP for your reassurance but also to check the location of the pregnancy.
Worst case scenario you could pay for a private scan but you should have to do that...keep pushing for one around 5weeks x

ScottishStardust · 27/08/2020 20:42

Thanks @Ivybutterfly and @Springandsummer123 for your response! I wasn't sure if I was being silly getting upset about not being checked. I know a lot of people have been affected by treatments due to Covid so I guess this the same case!

I do have the EPU number and called them and they said the same! Unless I have pains (which barley has before!) or valid concerns they wouldn't take me in! Tbh they also did this last time but my GP insisted they seen me, if she hadn't I dread to think what could have happened.

I'll maybe try again start or the week but we are also fortunate enough we can pay for a private scan if need be! Xx

Ivybutterfly · 27/08/2020 20:52

I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago and I got scanned for that. Get your GP to insist. Not sure where you are based but I would make a ruckus. There has been articles in the news about women with ectopics not getting checked. They say they were worried more women would die. This flies in the face of that. I am angry for you. Good luck and congratulations again. X

MrsB2019x · 27/08/2020 21:02

I would be furious if I were you @ScottishStardust, glad you are going to keep on persisting!

Hope the rest of you ladies are okay, hope your levels go back to zero soon @coffeewithmilk, been such a long process for you x

ChasingRainbow · 31/08/2020 17:57

Hi ladies
Sorry I havent been on this in ages but just now came back lurking!!
I actually spent some time getting head around the trauma of salpingectomy - R tube in May 2020. We are doing okay now, so much so hubbie & I are now in the TWW again and its torture! Feeling so many twinges etc that im not sure is possible pregnancy, impending period or just post surgery rumblings. Im currently 8dpo (at most). Used clear blue digi to.confirm but no bbt to be sure. This is our first cycle trying again for 🤞 our rainbow and much longed for first baby after 3 losses in a row.
Im thinking of testing at 12DPO if can hold out that long!
Congratulations & best wishes to all that have their BFP xxx

Ivybutterfly · 31/08/2020 19:01

Hi @ChasingRainbow I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Analysing every twinge is normal. I do it all of the time. I am in the 2WW also. I really hope this is your month and you get your rainbow. Xxxx

Springandsummer123 · 31/08/2020 19:14

Good luck this month @ChasingRainbow
@Ivybutterfly what DPO are you in now? Must Beale the time to test! Everything crossed for you x
