TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

@coffeewithmilk I had methotrexate. No vomiting or hair loss here!

It did make me SO tired, like multiple naps a day and it did give me stomach cramps. But didn’t make me feel sick or anything like that. The worst was for the first 5 days and then it eased. I felt physically back to normal within 10 days or so.

@Sammyclaire22 thank you. It has eased off a bit today. I have barely been able to stand between the bleeding and the pain. Feeling a bit better today. Xx

Hey, the level went from 480 to 330 in 48 hours so they gave me the option of waiting a week to recheck levels and if it hasn't done a big drop then I'll need to get the injection.
Fingers crossed it's substantially gone down by next wed!

@MrsB2019x Thank you. The bleeding has almost stopped now. I was lucky as only 3-4 weeks. Going to barrel on. I feel happier now it is over.

@MrsB2019x I'm feeling quite drained from it all to be honest. Just want it all to be over so I can get on with things and stop worrying. Trying to put it out of my mind for the moment, and just wait and hope for the best next week x

@coffeewithmilk the waiting is horrible. It took about 9 weeks for my hcg to drop from 500 to zero without Methotrexate. I hope yours drops off quickly x

Hope I’m ok to jump on! I had a ruptured 10 week ectopic pregnancy removed in November 2019 losing my right tube.

I was told that my left tube also looked damaged and we were referred for ivf. As part of the ivf process I had a hycosy test on 15th July (2020), I was due my period on 6th August and it didn’t arrive... I’ve had my BFP. I’m absolutely panicking that there’s something wrong. I’m worried the pregnancy is in the wrong place, I’m worried I’ll start bleeding any moment, I’m worried it’s a chemical, I’m just freaking out!

I’m at EPU on Friday for an early scan. When I phoned they said I’d be 6 weeks pregnant but when I’ve looked at my cycles etc I will only be 5 weeks so that’s worrying me too.

Just needing some reassurance really I guess... I feel nothing and that’s what’s worrying me! 😬

@thirteen92 welcome and congratulations! if you feel nothing that is probably good. I was in agony with both my ectopic and my miscarriage. I did not feel right at all. Just try to stay calm and keep yourself busy. I will cross everything. Good luck. Xxx

I can't believe you got to 10 weeks last time! I was in agony by 6+2!
I got my BFP a few weeks ago and the hospital were really good at getting me in for early scans. I had my first at 5+3, they couldn't see much but they could check the location and confirm it wasn't another ectopic. They then got me back at 7 weeks to check progress. Both were internal scans.
I was TERRIFIED for the first few weeks before my scan, I was convinced it was another ectopic and over analysed every twinge. I tried to reassure myself by reading the stats and luckily it was good news when they did scan.
I wouldn't worry about only being 5 weeks on your scan - if they pregnancy is in the right place they'll be able to see something. Good luck & keep is updated.

Welcome @thirteen92 and congrats on your BFP! ☺️ Can totally understand why you’re so nervous though. But as you have felt nothing it will hopefully be good news! I was scanned at 5+4 and they could see my ectopic then so if you’re not quite 6 weeks you might still be okay ☺️ Let us know how you get on x

I've got my 12w scan next week, still not letting myself get attached until I know everything is ok. I think after a loss I'm just so worried about being heartbroken again. What a journey this is hey!

It does change you.
I am pushing ahead. I got a high fertility on my Clearblue the past few days so it is all go. Ahem. Do you all think I should keep testing to get a peak fertility? I only have 4 sticks left. I might need them for next month. My CM has also been EW. So that made me happy.

Welcome @thirteen92, the wait for the first scan never gets easier. My ectopic was my first ever pregnancy and this is my third since (second one that reached early scans) and I think I find the wait harder every time. My epu refuse to scan me before 6 weeks too, which kills me as I ruptured at 6w exactly. With my first they did private scan about 5+4 and you can see the egg sac just not the baby sometimes. I think they prefer to leave it until they are pretty sure they will see a heartbeat so they know its viable.

I get what you mean @springsummer123. I think I'm probably more protective over my dd than I would have been, and I'm nearing my 20w scan soon and it still doesn't feel real yet! We had a private gender scan last week as my oh still can't come to nhs scans and I will probably be able to tell what it is on screen- we're having another little girl! Got a little 4d snapshot too which was nice even if it looks a bit alien.
The 12w scan is hard going alone to too, just the worry if everything is OK. Are you able to take anyone with you to your trust? Let us know how you get on.

EWCM is a great sign @ivybutterfly! Esp if it's tallying with high opks. Are you able to get more tests for next month? I'm a serial poas though so I can never help myself. Fc this is a good month for you! Lots of bding!

I'm due back in tomorrow to have my levels checked again. Went from 380 to 167 last week so hoping for a big drop this week so I can just get on with my life!

Hi @Springandsummer123 unfortunately I was treated with methotrexate yesterday. 😔 Completely asymptomatic for an ectopic yet my hcg wasn’t playing ball.

I argued with the doctors to take my tube out but my previous laparoscopy was so difficult they wouldn’t do another! My only option was methotrexate.

I’m gutted because we were about to start our round of ivf and now we can’t because of the methotrexate. 😔 They’ve told me to go back onto contraception to ensure I never fall pregnant naturally again as it’ll just keep happening with my tube being damaged.

It’s so frustrating and unfair! This is the first time I’ve had methotrexate, don’t feel anything yet but did wake up this morning feeling sick.

@thirteen92 so sorry you've had another ectopic, it is so unfair isn't it. I hope it doesn't make you feel too awful.
Did they say when you could start the IVF process? Got to keep looking forward and having little goals to keep you positive. Hope you're taking it easy xx

@Springandsummer123 Well we were supposed to be having our round in the next month or so. But now we will have to wait 3 months after my hcg goes to 0 just like everyone else TTC 😞 it’s so frustrating as we’ve been waiting for nhs ivf since November 2019!
