TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Mumlili9 · 25/02/2020 03:22

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

IT'S NOT ECTOPIC!
Just had my scan, too early to really see anything but the important thing is it's in the right place and not my remaining tube! Relief is an understatement.
Back in two weeks for another scan to check progress. Stay positive ladies - it can happen x

Clairee84 · 10/07/2020 15:45

Fantastic news, really pleased for you!

Sammyclaire22 · 14/07/2020 11:15

Lovely news @springsummer123, it's so hard waiting to find out.
I've got my 12w scan tomorrow, sad I have to go alone but looking forward to seeing bubs. Just hope all is OK then i can finally tell my mum why I've been feeling so ill the last 2 months! X

BasalGanglia · 14/07/2020 17:47

Can I join in please? I had an ectopic that resolved itself with no need for surgery and have just been discharged from hospital care this week. It was diagnosed in March and it's taken until now for my HCG to drop to below 5 (from 5000).

Pretty keen to try again although the advice is to wait for 2 periods so I'll be tracking my fertile days using opks for now Smile

Springandsummer123 · 14/07/2020 17:58

That's so exciting @Sammyclaire22 - it will be so nice to be able to tell people! Hope the scan goes ok. X

Springandsummer123 · 14/07/2020 18:02

Welcome @BasalGanglia - sorry to hear of your news. Amazing that you didn't need tube removal though, just go with what your body tells you. If you feel ready then go for it! I wanted for two cycles just to make sure they were regular again and could pinpoint ovulation better.

Ivybutterfly · 15/07/2020 08:09

I just saw this! Congratulations. So happy for you @Springandsummer123
Welcome @BasalGanglia. You have found a good thread here.
Just took a test. BFN for me this month. Oh well, next month. 🙁🙁

Mumlili9 · 18/07/2020 15:39

Hi ladies
@Springandsummer123 excellent news xbox
@BasalGanglia welcome sorry for your loss.

BFN for me too I'm going to go kick my wounds now 😢

Sorry to hear that @Mumlili9. I have no period and took another test today. Still BFN. I have bought Clear Blue fertility monitor and preseed along with a bumper pack of pregnancy tests. Giving it everything now. Fingers crossed for all of us! Xx

coffeewithmilk · 18/07/2020 20:24

Hi everyone, NC (was previously BMWL on this thread)
Had my ectopic surgery on June 27th (hcg was 9000) and I'm still having positive tests. Does anyone know when this will decrease? I want my period to start but obviously it won't if I still have positive hcg tests.
I thought it would decrease really quickly because I had surgery, but exactly 3 weeks on and the tests are really positive 😞

Springandsummer123 · 18/07/2020 20:55

Hi @coffeewithmilk - remember the home tests are quite sensitive so even if your HCG is really low they could still show a positive test. I would give it another week and then you could ask you doctor to do bloods? I got my period 6 weeks after the op. I know how frustrating it is as you just want to get back to tracking and trying again! What are your thoughts about trying again? I know you mentioned looking into other options at one point.

That's the spirit @Ivybutterfly I found altho it was disappointing to get my period it was the start of a brand new cycle and chance, almost like a clean slate each month. How late is your period now? Are you normally regular? How many cycles have you had since the op?

@Mumlili9 sorry it's not been your month. It's hard to stay positive some times isn't it. Hope this new cycle is the one for you x

Ivybutterfly · 18/07/2020 21:06

@coffeewithmilk it took me ages to stop feeling pregnant. I think it was 6 weeks until my period.

@Springandsummer123 that is a good way of looking at it. My period was due today according to my app. I am usually regular. This period will be the 6th, I think. It was the end of last year and then a while for period to start. My doctor said 83% of women who have ectopics are pregnant within a year.

coffeewithmilk · 18/07/2020 21:08

Thank you @Springandsummer123
Hopefully I get my period soon and can start tracking. I'm feeling hopeful to try again once I have one or two cycles done. Hopefully this will be 3rd time lucky 🤞🏻

Thank you @Ivybutterfly, I'm 3 weeks post op so hopefully another 3 or less to go.
With my last ectopic, my hcg was a lot lower at 1000 so I got my period 4 weeks after the op

Xx

Ivybutterfly · 18/07/2020 21:33

Good luck @coffeewithmilk you really deserve it. Xxx

Ginger89 · 20/07/2020 02:52

Am I ok to join?Any room for a small one?? RTFT my heart just breaks for all of us 😔. i had an ectopic june 2019 been TTC since with no luck, had a hsg my remaining tube isn’t blocked or anything xx

Sammyclaire22 · 20/07/2020 04:07

Hi @ginger89 sorry to see you need to join us but it's a good group to be in for support and understanding x

Do you track your cycles? Ttc number 2 I tracked mine really carefully and ended up taking a few supplements and doing the smep and had a chemical in March on cycle 5 I think, then conceived again on cycle 7. I'm sure it made a difference.
Try to keep positive, it can often take 12m for couples with no issues to conceive so I planned for a lot longer this time round. (took us 12m to ever conceive first time round then it was ectopic, but somehow I conceived my dd the next month) I threw everything at it this time round as I was assuming it would take over a year again and Im now over 35 and wasn't sure if we would be entitled to any fertility help. X

Mumlili9 · 20/07/2020 04:10

@Ginger89 welcome and sorry for your loss. Not sure what RTFT stands for though. How did you find the hsg. I'm going to request one now. Im knocking on a bit now and I've no time to waste. It's been officially 6 months since my surgery and no luck yet and definitely ovulated every cycle. Bit scared it'll never happen now. We been trying since fsb 2018 and had 8 mc's and 1 ectopic with tube partially removed ( they just cut a section out with baby in) , I usually fall with in 4 months of trying but nothing now.

Thank you ladies, @Sammyclaire22 Some months I track more than others I delete my apps when af arrives have a bitch fit & I either re install them or just leave it, opks again some months I’ll be full force other months I don’t bother ordering, sounds like I’m not really trying but I am I just don’t know it’s kind of like self harm really it’s so so horrible.
@Mumlili9 the hsg not going to lie was horrific pain but for like a minuete if that and to be honest when I got sent to gynea after the ectopic surgery the consultant was a bit stunned as to why I’d been sent there so early after the op (2 weeks to the date stitches were still there) he asked why they sent me too I was a bit taken a back like I dont know your the consultant here alls I got told the day after the surgery was that they had to remove the right tube it was the size of a mans fist and began to split and that my other tube was sort of stuck to my csection scar tissue anyway with that he said ok & requested the hsg which i had about a month later. Quite alot of pressure when the dye went through and the woman who did it said maybe it was blocked but the dye unblocked it but it was clear anyway and floating about to not attached to scar as they thought. That was august last year was hopeful as apparently you’re more fertile the 3-6 months following, we were not that lucky but deffo would recommend and it your tube is clear atleast you can rule that out as a problem. Thanks for letting me rant anyway i appologise it’s long. Such a really shit thing to happen i truly feel you xx

Sammyclaire22 · 20/07/2020 15:47

@ginger89 I get what you mean about it feeling like self harm, it can become all consuming. I found bbt really useful to be sure I could pinpoint my ovulation (was actually pretty early around cd10) along with opks but the month I conceived this one I only took it on the days right around when I knew I would be ovulating and to prove it had happened as I was fed up with it. Whether it was all coincidence but I found Co enz 10 and then agnus castus seemed to help. The month I took agnus my ovulation date moved back to cd12 which I'm sure meant the egg was more viable and did the trick.
Sounds like you went through a lot in a very short space of time too.

Sending lots of love @mumlili9, if only we knew the future so we could prepare for if or when things happen. The not knowing is so hard each month x

Ivybutterfly · 20/07/2020 17:03

Welcome @Ginger89 I am sorry you have had such a tough time. Ectopic pregnancy is one of the hardest things. It is good your other tube is not blocked. I have a friend who took years to conceive after an ectopic but she has two children now and is in her 40s. Rant as much as you want. We all go a bit mad TTC.

@Mumlili9 I am so sorry to hear that. You have been through so much. You know you can get pregnant so that is a positive. Maybe you should see your doctor again. They need to help you. Xxx

Ivybutterfly · 22/07/2020 08:35

I am feeling so despondent. I still have no period and the pregnancy test I took today was negative. My periods have just stopped. I feel like I am never going to get pregnant.

Springandsummer123 · 22/07/2020 11:39

Sorry you're feeling so low @Ivybutterfly how long is this cycle now?
After my op one month I was 29 days the next 26 So it can change a bit. Will the doctor see you to do some bloods?

c1234h · 22/07/2020 11:47

Not sure if this is still active but it's reassuring to read. Can I join too? First pregnancy was ectopic about 4 months ago. Laparotomy and lost my right tube. Was TTC but didn't realise I was pregnant until I had sharp pains. Fast forward to the hospital getting emergency surgery. Not what I had expected my first pregnancy experience to be like.
Back TTCing and it's such a repetitive circle. 2 days late & have taken countless tests (all BFN). Really want a positive, but also scared in case its ectopic again. I'm just so aware of every twinge or ache.

Ivybutterfly · 22/07/2020 12:06

@Springandsummer123 I am usually a regular 28 day cycle. On day 36 now. I will be fine. I just need to start exercising again. I saw that excessive exercise raises the risk of ectopics so I stopped and was just walking.

@c1234h very much a active. Welcome. I am sorry for your loss and distress. I am late too. I have been worried about an ectopic but they DO come up on pregnancy tests. Anything too low for a pregnancy test would be a miscarriage at most. I think. I hope! Xxxx

Springandsummer123 · 22/07/2020 20:18

That is a long cycle @Ivybutterfly - especially if you're normally much shorter. Very strange - have you tried different brands of pregnancy tests?
Sorry to hear of your news @c1234h - the more people that join the more I realise it's so common. It's great to talk to others who have been through the same thing.
