TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

I haven’t. I am using the Boots pregnancy strips. The one today took ages to go BFN. I figured they are all the same thing. Might be worth getting another. Especially considering the risks.

Zee1988 · 22/07/2020 22:43

Hi - I’m new to the site but looking for some support and hope really. I had an ectopic last November with surgery to remove my right tube. Been ttc since January but no luck. Currently smack bang in the middle of the ttw with AF due on 30th July. Feeling hopeful right now but it’s been one heck of an emotional rollercoaster of a year so far.

Ivybutterfly · 23/07/2020 11:43

Welcome @Zee1988 I am sorry for your loss. I lost my tube too. Not fun! It can take a while but the doctor told me that over 80% of women who have an ectopic are pregnant within a year. Good luck.

MrsB2019x · 23/07/2020 21:12

Hi ladies, can I join?

I had an ectopic in April and was treated with methotrexate. This cycle is the first one we’re allowed to try again (though not gonna lie, we weren’t exactly careful last month...)

Nice to see there are some success stories on this thread! Definitely gives me hope 🥰

BasalGanglia · 24/07/2020 12:07

Hi @MrsB2019x sorry to hear about your loss. I'm in a similar position although mine was diagnosed in March and they wouldn't give me Methotrexate because of Covid. It's only resolved itself 2 weeks ago so I've been tracking my fertile days using OPKs this month but we aren't actively trying again just yet. Fingers crossed for you! x

MrsB2019x · 24/07/2020 13:38

@BasalGanglia Sorry to hear of yours too Flowers that’s really strange though, I was in A&E on 10th April then had the methotrexate on the 14th so pretty slap bang in the middle of the peak! Different hospitals work differently I guess. Did you have expectant management then? x

BasalGanglia · 24/07/2020 13:51

@MrsB2019x I never even made it to A&E! Had a private early scan at the end of March (start of lockdown) which didn't look right for my dates so I was referred to EPAU and they diagnosed me. I didn't have any pain or bleeding at the time so they were happy to leave me for expectant management.

I've had weekly HCG blood tests since then and it taken 4 months to go from 5000 to less than 5. Been bleeding on and off with my last bleed the week I was discharged. Im not sure if it was period as my HCG wasn't quite zero but my opks seem to suggest it might have been.

Keep us updated with your progress Smile did it take long to conceive last time?

coffeewithmilk · 24/07/2020 14:56

I'm now 4 weeks post op and I'm still having positive pregnancy tests. Had a post op bleed after the surgery, and have since had a 4 day period which was very heavy. Why do I still have positive tests? 😞
Just want to get my body back to normal so we can try again x

MrsB2019x · 24/07/2020 16:57

@BasalGanglia Omg how long and drawn out for you! Glad you’re back on track now 😁

It took us from October til April, so in the grand scheme of things it’s not too long, but I’m hoping it will be quicker this time around 😆

It will be interesting to see how we both get on as a lot of info about ectopics is usually based on women who had to have their tubes removed

MrsB2019x · 24/07/2020 16:57

@coffeewithmilk That’s so unfair Flowers have you told EPU? x

coffeewithmilk · 24/07/2020 17:58

@MrsB2019x no, I was going to wait until at least Monday and if it is still positive then I'll give them a ring. It's very frustrating xx

MrsB2019x · 24/07/2020 19:54

@coffeewithmilk Good idea, hopefully they can shed some light on it. I imagine you just want to get back to normal now 😔

Sammyclaire22 · 24/07/2020 21:32

Welcome to the new joiners, although it's horrible to think how many of us have been through it.
Personally my pregnancy tests went negative 3 weeks after my op but I was only 6 weeks when I ruptured so I imagine it would take longer if you are further along. The main thing is to be patient, it's an awful lot to process and recover from and getting pregnant again is a whole other ball game! But I'm proof it's still possible to have a full family afterwards.

Any news of the MIA period @ivybutterfly?

Ivybutterfly · 24/07/2020 21:36

I felt pregnant for ages after. Still no period. Did another test today BFN. 🙁

Ivybutterfly · 24/07/2020 22:10

I did get a positive OPK just before my period was supposed to start. I wonder if my cycle has changed or something. All of this stuff drives you crazy.

Sammyclaire22 · 25/07/2020 07:21

Oh @ivybutterfly I'm sorry, its hard enough waiting through the tww without unknowns and odd cycles thrown in the mix.

Ivybutterfly · 25/07/2020 09:59

Thank you. ❤️❤️

coffeewithmilk · 25/07/2020 11:03

I tested with a CB digital this morning and it says 3+ weeks. I rang EPU and they said I shouldn't be having positive tests, but my hcg level was around 8000. Advised to wait until Friday, so another test and if it is still positive, then to ring them back and go and get bloods done.
Wish they would just take me in today so I knew a bit more what the level was doing 😞

Ivybutterfly · 25/07/2020 11:26

I think the hormone hangs around for a while. I hope it gets sorted soon. So stressful for you.

MrsB2019x · 25/07/2020 11:58

Does seem strange that they’re making you wait another week before doing bloods, then you’d probably be waiting another day for the results to come back. Really do feel for you, must be so stressful Flowers

coffeewithmilk · 25/07/2020 15:30

It's very annoying, but will ring on mon/tues and ask if I can come in earlier to have bloods. I am feeling slight cramps so unsure what they're from x

Springandsummer123 · 25/07/2020 21:31

@coffeewithmilk do you think there could still be something left from the op? You said it was in a very unusual place so maybe they didn't get it all?
It's a very worrying time for you - I would definitely be pushing to be seen, especially with your history and with only one reminding tube. I think they should see you before another week goes by. Go with your gut and push for it x

Mumlili9 · 26/07/2020 17:11

@Springandsummer123 @MrsB2019x @coffeewithmilk @Ivybutterfly @Newuname199987 @BasalGanglia @Sammyclaire22 @springlike @Mumlili9
Hello ladies how are you all I'm ok been AWOL again. I'm such a sulky pants. CD5 again so yet another failed cycle . An extremely odd cycle too. I got my temp spike before my peak opk this cycle but still manage to bd at the right time and still no bfn then a stupid very light AF consisting of just 36 hours of very light bleeding. I throw my hands up in despair, what has a girl got to go through just to be able to do something that should be so natural !!!!

@Springandsummer123 yeah I just don't have a clue what's going on. Going to definitely ring tomorrow, now seeing that I'm having cramping too. It's just so so strange. Also have a big long blue stitch poking out of my belly button which hasn't dissolved yet - I'm just complaining a lot today because I'm fed up!!

@Mumlili9 I'm sorry you've had no luck this month. I agree, what do we have to go through for something that should be so natural!! It's so frustrating. 😞. Thinking of you x 💐

Ivybutterfly · 26/07/2020 17:34

@Mumlili9 36 hour light period does not sound like a period. I would take another test. I have been reading loads of fertility books and just trying to stay positive. Still no period. Cramps but nothing else.
It shouldn’t be so hard. Lots of love to everyone. We will get there in the end. Xx
