hi rowing, it can be so hard at times, i agree! hope you are not feeling too bad now. when DS gets into the i want to do it myself kind of mood and i have to take a deep breathe at times! it is most trying when we are running late!

jassara, it is very interesting that you did not have any symptoms at all prior to your BFP, besides the funny taste in mouth. did you have sore boobs at all?

it is 6dpo for me today...AF due in 8 days

jassara · 14/05/2008 17:14

Sorry she got you gem2mum it's PANTS!

My youngest is three in a couple of weeks and boy can he have a paddy....why is it always in the supermarket too or when you have friends round with what seem like little angels. He knows his own mind now and can push all the right buttons.

Heron...boobs just had the usual pains that I get a week before AF due, nothing at all different. TBH everytime I have been PG I've always convinced myself that it hasn't been my month. Still crossing my fingers for you!

cece · 14/05/2008 17:41

That is promising as I have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever this month!

jassara · 14/05/2008 18:41

Oooo cece what day are you on?

cece · 14/05/2008 18:49

CD 25 of usually 31/32 days but last month I got to CD 36 before AF arrived... Last month had every symptom going, sore [.][.], metallic taste, tired... this month not one single symptom!

Heron23 · 14/05/2008 18:55

thanks jassara

every cycle is different, that is what makes it so frustrating!

we can send man to the moon but cant really tell whether fertilisation has happened! i wish there is a telly or scan, so that we can watch what happens after egg is released. since it only lives for 12hours, i believe that we ttc ladies will have a lot less days of fretting!

jassara · 14/05/2008 19:08

No symptoms, is a symptom IYNWIM !
Did you say you have been temping this month?

jassara · 14/05/2008 19:11

Wow Heron imagine how many millions you could make if you could invent such a machine

gem2mum · 14/05/2008 21:06

Well fingers crossed for Cece, Rowing and Heron. Lets hope for some more BFPs soon It is really annoying when you know you've BD when you should have (hopefully), on Clomid (in my case) and no hormone/plumbing problems (me, apparantly) and still the blinking egg and sperm can't get their act together!.

Rowing, sounds like I should be reading up on some discipline techniques. I just keep hoping she will grow out of it soon and in the meantime try to avoid any situation in public that might prompt a full out cringeworthy tantrum (ie avoid saying No if possible!) Or really, just avoid going shopping. I know what you mean about coping with two young children, it does seem scary but I really dont want my DD to grow up a single child like my DS did.

cece · 14/05/2008 22:25

Yes temping this month - first time and it has been quite interesting. Had a temp rise so we shall see.

I must say I never do a big shop with my kids, either buy just a few items if I do have to go or get it delivered during the school holidays, or go in the evening when I can leave them at home. And mine are older than tantruming age!

rowingboat · 15/05/2008 10:26

Cece, a woman after my own heart. I do a big shop online and still get it all wrong, because DS is climbing on my knee saying 'Can see Cbeebies?' over and over and over and over...
He does come to the shops for little things. the lady in Farmfoods knows him because we buy our oatcakes and ice lollies in there every week and he always gives her the money.

Heron23 · 15/05/2008 16:52

i do my grocery shopping online when DS is asleep or totally engrossed watching his favourite tv show!

shopping with DS is really hard. first i have to bribe him with a toy, so our first stop is usually a toy store. then i get to go to the shops i need to! as he is no longer in a buggy, i have to do my shopping fast before his legs gets tired!

i am taking my temps and they are now high. fingers crossed they stay high. my temp usually crashes a couple of hours before AF the witch gets me

lilibet · 15/05/2008 17:03

Hello everyone - remember me?

I'm sorry I haven't been here for a good while - trying to keep it all out of my head as I've had other stuff going on.

Georially - huge congratulations and best wishes for the next 8 months -

Sorry the rest of you have no good news - there could be a big population explosion next spring - let's hope!!

Heron23 · 15/05/2008 18:42

hi lilibet, how have you been? what have you been up to? i am doing fine, going about my normal life, while ttc! this is my 3rd cycle now. AF due in 7 days.

areyou still ttc?

river5 · 16/05/2008 08:53

hi ladies, am new to this site, your stories are very encouraging. Iam 44,have 3 teenage kids and a broken marriage. Ihave since met a charming man,and we desperately want a child. we have been trying for a year now, my family thinks am nuts. The problem is he lives in sweden and am in UK.Am hopping to join him end of the year but think it might be too late. Any suggestions?

Heron23 · 16/05/2008 14:30

hi river, have you heard of zita west clinic, london? they have helped so many people conceive

jassara · 19/05/2008 10:24

Morning Ladies
Hope you all had a good weekend!
Good luck to everyone testing this week..not long Heron, do you have any symptoms?

I'm feeling so tired at the mo I can't seem to think straight...took my DS to playgroup on thursday morning instead of the afternoon (i leave him there for two hours) didn't realise until someone said

ohjoy · 19/05/2008 10:53

morning jassara! i am fine, yep, countdown now, today is cd25. AF witch is thurs evening or fri morning. not much symptoms this cycle, boobs sore and a little lower back pain. that's it really.

i am not losing sleep over it though which is good, i am more relaxed this cycle.

you did not finish your post? what happened after you took your DS to playgroup?

jassara · 19/05/2008 11:03

Hi Heron
The girl in charge of the playgroup asked if I was bringing him again on the afternoon. I still looked at her with a blank expression...then it clicked. I was so
embarrassed!!

It's so good that you feel more relaxed about testing. I did this time because it takes over your every thought if you let it, but it is sooo hard not to.

ohjoy · 19/05/2008 11:57

i know it is so hard not too. especially as i find that every body is pregnant or have 2 children (or more) already!

i wonder if my DS will just have to be an only child...

ohjoy · 19/05/2008 12:02

u know, i never thought that i would want another child, but now i do. it has taken me nearly 4 years to get back to normal after DS was born!

now i feel like life is kind of back to normal. a different kind of normal!

if i cant have another, then i will look at the pros of having only one child...

jassara · 19/05/2008 12:13

If you have a peek on the pregnancy threads there's one for 40 plus mommies and it's lovely to see so many, it really gives you hope....

ohjoy · 19/05/2008 12:43

really i must go have a look!

xserialshopper · 20/05/2008 13:53

Hi everyone.

I've been lurking on some threads today and just wanted the share the titbits that I came across

Semen Analysis - any ideas?

my dh count was terrible. they said it was a 'miracle' we had one child... I now have 2 more. We were recomended a herb by a herbalist called saw palmetto. DH put a few drops in water and drank twice a day, and then I caught a few weeks later - on both subsequent occasions. Two more friends have tried it and also had success! You can get it from holland and barrett

tastes vile though! I was referred for ivf, and caught before the appointment. I think dh took it for 2 months before we caught. With third child he took it 3 months before i would even try, but i caught first month - could't believe it! Two freiends have tried for years and caught same way! It is a herb that is used for men with prostate trouble, but that area is all connected, sort of !

CLEARBLUE MONITOR V PERSONA

Just to let you know the monitors are made by the same people.

The persona sticks will work on the CB digi OPK which is a huge cost saving given the DigiOPK doesn't have replacement sticks you can buy.

I have a persona I've had for years and have used it twice to get pg, both times the first month.

This time I've had a chemical pg (first month) and a bizarre mammoth cycle (second month).

Hopefully the third month is a sticky one

They're much of a muchness really. I do really rate the CB digi OPK though and if you know roughly when you O and have a regular cycle I think I would go for that instead.

£22.99 for the first pack with the digi thingy, then buy persona sticks for it after the first month (if needed of course). A pack of Persona sticks could last you 2-3 months.

Oh and pay no attention to the old chestnut "don't use sticks with different batch numbers in the same month", that's a complete rip off and makes no bloody difference.

Things your children say that make you smile

I know, it's bloody hard work most of the time but sometimes you can't help laughing:

DD1 to MIL "Nanny, why have you got a hairy lip?"

DD1 (4yo) "I don't like sheepdogs"

DH: "Why not darling?"

DD1 "Well I get confused - are they sheep or are they dogs?"

Will taking clomid effect a clearblue fertility monitor?

Certain medical conditions and medications can adversely affect the performance of the Clearblue Fertility Monitor.

Women who have menopausal symptoms, polycystic ovarian syndrome, impaired liver or kidney function, are pregnant or have recently been pregnant (even if not carried to full term), may get misleading results.

Similarly misleading results may be obtained by women using antibiotics containing tetracyclines, hormonal treatments (e.g. hormonal contraception, hormone replacement therapy), fertility treatments containing human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (hCG) or Luteinising Hormone (LH), or any treatment that might affect their cycle.

Clomiphene citrate may elevate estrogen levels and this may result in High Fertility being declared early in the cycle and more High Days being displayed, and in some cases the Monitor may not show Peak Fertility even when ovulation occurs. We therefore recommend that women taking clomiphene citrate consult their doctor for advice before using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor.

Now - I have a bnib CBFM and 6 boxes of 30 sticks each waiting to be used, but, alas! I'm on Clomid and I so wanted to start poas this month (af due Sunday)

ohjoy · 20/05/2008 14:34

hi X, thank you so much for that post. there is a lot of info there. i will get DH to try that herb drink. he refuses to get semen analysis done - we had no problem last time ttc though. but that was a while back...
