ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

Hi,

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

thanks katendmom, i wish they would have told me too or at least given me a little bottle of gas and air to take home! I think now it is a good job you are having the d&c as i will never recommend natural again

katendmom · 12/09/2007 20:44

Well FlossieF, you must be my lucky charm! As I read your post I got a call from the hospital - I am in for tomorrow at 8 am. So if all goes well, by this time tomorrow, I should be home and recovering with everything behind me... The only thing I just realized - tomorrow is the 13th

iliketosleep · 12/09/2007 20:46

ILTC, we need to get RosyBelle over to this thread. She has been asking about you and I don't know how to invite her over - she is in the same boat as I was a couple of days ago "playing hard and physical with her little DD, hoping to cause things to occur naturally~" Oh boy, do you have a story to tell her!

Justjules, you're my hero! What an awesome-awesome way to make sense of the ridiculousness of MC! More power to you! Tell us how your support group effort is maturing!

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I hope I can be that for you in the future - that is when you're all complaining about morning sickness cuz you're just SOOOOO PREGNANT!!!

You know what they say "If life gives you lemons, turn around and make lemonade!"

You're a great person, I can tell - and great things happen to good people!

iliketosleep · 12/09/2007 21:34

where is she and ill go over and see her

lissielou · 12/09/2007 21:38

hi all, god ive missed you! right, off to catch up, see you in a minute

ronshar · 12/09/2007 21:45

I find it incomprehensible that we all have experienced so many different levels of care. I was seen by a doctor straight away who took bloods and told me to come back the next day, it was 6oclock.
I was examined the next afternoon when bloods back and was given the choice. Either have ERPC or let nature take its course. I did not want to wait for days & days with a dead baby inside me. I also knew that approx 80% of natural mc end up in surgery due to retained products!
We all may chose to do it differently but we should most defintely get the choice.

October for cakes is good, but not half term. I can do day or evening. Shall we go to the pub as well as eating cakes. I dont subscribe to the whole denial stuff. It is boring enough when you are pregnant to spend months and months TTC and being boring!!!

lissielou · 12/09/2007 21:46

iliketosleep are you in bed now, lol!

katendmum sorry you got bad news but great that you've got your D&C booked (wow, never thought I'd write something like that...) Hope everything goes OK for you tomorrow.

After reading some of your stories I feel I got off really lightly with my natural m/c - which was one of the most distressing things I've been through physically but not too painful - manageable with paracetamol. I'm fairly sure I had a blighted ovum though (I saw the sac and it was small and looked empty :{ sorry TMI) so despite the m/c happening at 9 weeks there probably wasn't too much there to cause pain. It all happened quickly as well, less than 24 hours from starting spotting to passing the sac, but the time I had my emergency scan 5 days later everything had gone.

Positive news: I got my shiny new BBT thermometer in the post this morning and now I can take my temperature in hundreths of degree Celsius. Yay!

ronshar · 12/09/2007 21:52

Jules you must do it. We all need a voice. Women all over the world are being forgotten by the "establishment".
I wonder if it was a male problem it would be so silent.
It is only since coming on to MN that I have realised that MC is so common. I work in the NHS and didnt have a clue at the extent of the problem.
Why are we having so many MC and more importantly why do you have to have 3 of the damn things before they think it is a problem.
You dont have to get cancer 3 times before they treat you do you!!!
I have to stop as it makes me really ANGRY.
Just wanted to add my support to you Jules.

ladylush · 12/09/2007 22:02

ilts so sorry to hear about your experience. I wanted to scream out HAVE THE EPRC but I know it's an individual choice and we all view things differently. Katendmom - sorry to hear you are going through it too but I think the d&c is the best option (having done both). The emotional stuff is much harder to contend with
Flossie - hope you rest up after your ERPC. It is quite draining. Pampering should be on the menu for you.

Jules - you are so attentive. You remind me of Mrs McJnr who used to remember what was going on with everyone on the thread and would always say something to everyone. I really hope you get a bfp soon as you certainly deserve it

Ok heres an update on my hospital appt:
Uterus scanned. Anomalies found = arcuate uterus and cyst on right ovary. Cyst is probably functional (normal)as they occur when an egg is released (I am on my period)then go away without intervention. Nevertheless they are going to rescan in 6 weeks just to ensure it has gone. The arcuate uterus is not a problem as it is very slight and not enough to make a pregnancy high risk - and definately not a reason for first trimester m/c. I am pleased as previously I was told that I have a bicornuate or subseptate uterus which at least I now know is not true. They also did bloods - clotting and chromosome. The clotting results don't take too long but the chromosome ones take 12 weeks + dh has to have his done too and won't be able to go til next week. Pity they didn't explain this when they issued my appt. Anyhow, dr thinks it's all just bad luck - doesn't think anything will come back as abnormal. We shall see.

ronshar · 12/09/2007 22:04

OOO Ladylush what is that? It sounds exotic?

lissielou · 12/09/2007 22:07

well, thats something! did you have any post natal complication with ds?

ladylush · 12/09/2007 22:17

No complications with ds. Arcutate just means that there is a curve on the uterus rather than being completely flat. My curve is at the top.

iliketosleep · 12/09/2007 22:23

im not in bed ive just wrote my story out for rosybelle have a look if you fancy

ladylush · 12/09/2007 22:28

You poor thing I read it. I agree - that is too much for anyone to go through. Incidentally, does anyone know why women whose babies die in 2nd or 3rd trimester have to "give birth". Why can't they remove it under GA or do CS?

ronshar · 12/09/2007 22:33

I think it has something to do with the body realising that baby has gone in a 'normal' way. Also a D&C isnt appropriate because of the size of the foetus. It would have to be a C-Section.
Either that or the doctors are sadistic bastards and cant think of a better way of doing it!

iliketosleep · 12/09/2007 22:34

i have always wondered that also but i pressume it is to stop any damage being done. If they did it internally there is a chance of tearing as its not being done naturally and isnt there always a risk with a c section? Im not sure as ive never had one.

ronshar · 12/09/2007 22:35

Wow I didnt realise the uterus was flat either. I am going to have to get my nursing books out again. I obviously missed many lectures. I must have been drunk again!
At least that is really good news for you. No obvious problem to deal with.

ronshar · 12/09/2007 22:37

I am off to bed now so will see you all soon.
Good luck to all those bding tonight, I hope the baby fairy is with you.
