TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

Hi ladies.... Does anyone feel that opk are a bit useless?

I'm using them for the 1st time this month to see if my CM changes are happening around ovulation but my tests are still coming up negative even though my CM has now turned thin an watery, which for me I tend to see a few days before EWCM (egg-white cervical mucus)... But the opk strips are still only 1 line.

My body is a little out of wack post CP however as a general rule, I feel I do know my body well and usually my cm is pretty on point as I get af 2 weeks after EWCM (egg-white cervical mucus) and obviously in December we did conceive (even if it didn't stick)...

Anyone else find opks a bit rubbish and just not use them? I'm finding all the tests and tracking is quite alot and not sure if its doing me any favours other than making me more anxious... I don't track BBT either simply because I can't be bothered with the faff... Thoughts appreciated xx

@Sausage1990 i could never get a positive on the dip ones. The digital ones worked perfectly for me. I tried for three months before my daughter and got pregnant all three cycles ( early losses) then my daughter.

Lucero1233 · 31/01/2020 00:06

Hello everyone!
I'm 37 and recently miscarried the night of January 20th.
TTC and using the EZ Level 20 Ovulation Test Strips. I'm very confused. I have two lines but the test lines are not quite as dark as the control line, so according to the instructions it's not a positive?? But it's pretty close. I also have not noticed any changes in my CM. I'm so scared that the test is positive and I'm going to miss it...

shhhhs · 31/01/2020 06:27

@sausage1990 I personally really like OPK, they have always worked well for me. But if you know you're body and cycles really well they probably aren't needed.

@lucero1233 I'm not sure how reliable OPK are on first cycle after MC, especially since yours was so recent. OPK said I was ovulating for ages following my miscarriage, due to all the left over hormones. They will probably work better on next cycle once hormones have settled again. Although hopefully you'll be pregnant before next cycle 🤞

Hello everyone can I join you ladies. I miscarried last Oct 11th and waited two cycles to start trying again. It’s been long painful time and now since I am starting to try I am a bit relieved but very very scared

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 31/01/2020 07:47

Good luck to all the ladies trying by whatever means necessary. Who cares if it works? I've often used digital opks and used them the month I had my first MC. I didn't use them the month of the second MC (as I must have ovulated 10 days after the first one if you see what I mean do didn't see it coming at all). I've never got on with the cheap ones at all. I do end up spending more but I've never tested for pregnancy early, I've always wanted for a missed period, which has meant I've only tested very few times!

I went for some reflexology and reiki yesterday, not for fertility per se just to try and help me relax and pull me put of this depression I seem to be in. I do think it has helped and I have been feeling a lot more positive since.

Hi ladies, hoping I can join you. I had a MC at 10 weeks last April and really hoped I'd be pregnant again by now. Just turned 44 though so time has probably run out. I feel very lucky to have a three year old DD who has gotten me through the difficult times. Looking forward to seeing some BFPs here this month x

Aww amazing @littlepickles88. Such great news, have a healthy pregnancy Grin

seaduck · 31/01/2020 10:03

Sorry to hear some if you got your period - here's to next month.

@Bathwater My thyroid doesn't necessarily affect much but I was monitored in my two successful pregnancies pretty regularly. I also was referred to endocrine clinic and saw the consultant there a couple of times. He never really said much other than to monitor my levels and I had to get sign off from him to have a non consultant led birth. They want your levels to be in the lower end of normal so if your borderline I would get checked if you can, as normal in pregnancy is different than normal when not pregnant. My dose of thyroxine was increased both times, and also in the recent pregnancy ending in mc. No idea what dose I should be on now, I've stuck to the higher one in the hope that it is the right level for any potential pregnancies but probably should go see some one about it.

Im not sure what to think.
So I mc 1st Jan after 2 weeks of bleeding. Then stopped bleeding the next day. So we were ttc again from 2nd.
Anyway, I tested and bfn on 9th.
No idea of ovulation, or af due date.
I tested a few days ago just because I’m a poas addict. I’ve had zero symptoms, just have plenty of ic tests burning a hole in my drawer 😬

So I will attach 2 photos. The photo with the 3 tests in is from a few days ago. The photo with the single test in is one I took just now when I got in from work.

To me it’s visibly darker (although still what I’d call faint).

But now I’m second guessing the bfn I got after the mc, was it really a bfn or just an extremely faint positive. I’m wondering if this would be left over hcg from the previous pregnancy?

Do I just wait it out and maybe try and do a digital test next week then another a week later and see if it goes up? Do I contact my gp and see if they’ll do blood tests to check if my levels are going up or still coming down? Do I phone EPU?

I really didn’t think I would be. This week I even ended up in hospital for a Bartholin abscess that needed draining and was literally about the be gowned up and taken for a general anaesthetic when it burst on its own, but since then I’ve been on antibiotics and codeine for pain relief. So now panicking that if I am pregnant I’ve been taking medication that I shouldn’t have!

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 31/01/2020 16:28

@Moominmiss certainly look like positives to me xx

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 16:33

@LITTLEPICKLES88 thank you. I’m just worried it’s picking up residual hcg left in my system.

Massive congrats on your bfp btw!!! That’s amazing.

I think maybe if I haven’t had af by next week I’ll buy a clear blue digi and see what that says xx

shhhhs · 31/01/2020 17:03

@moominmiss EPAC told me i should have a negative 3 weeks post MC, which I guess means this is when they expect HCG from miscarriage to be either gone or so low it's undectable. I was told is still positive after 3 weeks would need to be looked into. I'm sure the GP would do a blood test to confirm either way 🤞

Moominmiss · 31/01/2020 17:11

@shhhhs yeah the EPU told me to test 1 week and 2 weeks post miscarriage. So I tested on 9th which was 8 days after and it was bfn.

Now these faint positives have me questioning whether it was a true bfn or not.

I think I will try to refrain from testing until I think a digi might pick it up next week.
