This is the thread for those of us in the TTC after loss penguin huddle who want to try to eat a more healthy diet, exercise more, lose weight or just feel better physically this year
🐧🐧🐧
@MrsMGE @Avocuddles @MissSparkles81 @SunshineCrocodile @Mumlili8 @VenusStarr @SunStruck

If I’ve missed anyone please tag them

How about we start by saying what our goals are whether that he the number on the scale, doing more exercise or just feeling better about ourselves?

I’m BunnytheBlueWhale (NC recently - see TTC thread). I’m 35 and probably weigh about a stone more than I’d like since I had my stillborn daughter in February. I don’t need to lose weight massively but having post-baby weight and no baby is a bit rubbish!

I’d like to lose a bit of a weight all over and also target my belly with brushing, moisturising and maybe microneedling at home...

I eat a lot of sugary snacks so want to massively reduce those and also try to take a healthy lunch to work to stop me spending so much money on food!

@MissSparkles81 sometimes those scales make no sense at all, I've had really good weeks and barely lost anything. It is disheartening to see those numbers creep up more than you thought but as @Bunny says it could be just water retention or something random. You may find things balance out next week.

We had a lovely curry last night and I made a Victoria sponge which went down a treat with the inlaws. I'm trying to get back on track this week with food and am going to plan my WW meals and go shopping later. I have a friend visiting tomorrow so will save the rest of the sponge for her and then it'll all be gone so no more temptation.

I somehow seem to have managed to lose a couple of pounds this week. Not sure how as it was probably my worst food week this month but I'm not questioning it! I've booked into a bodypump class tomorrow, not done one of those classes for over a year so I may be aching afterwards. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

MissSparkles81 · 01/02/2020 11:41

Thanks ladies ... I hate the bluddy scales at times.

I had a scone for breakfast 😂😂

Now waiting on my Yoga class to start. Today will be an off plan today as we are going out for dinner tonight. Heading to Miller and Carter for some steak. Been looking forward to it all week. Treating myself to a wee blow dry after Yoga too.

Wee bit of pampering always helps right?

MissSparkles81 · 01/02/2020 11:42

@Shefliesonherownwings well done on the loss lovely 🥰

BunnytheBlueWhale · 01/02/2020 12:38

Well done @Shefliesonherownwings

I just weighed myself at the gym and weight exactly what I weighed at Christmas I think

@MissSparkles81 You’ve got to treat yourself but maybe I treat myself too much... I love M&C though

I’ve fine yoga and about 20 mins cardio in the gym

I’ll try to do a little run or a walk tomorrow but that’s my only exercise this week

Good morning Ladies,

Has anyone done a Keto diet before? X

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/02/2020 11:58

I haven’t @EssJayyCee and don’t know what it involves really. I think it’s a low carb diet?

I’m struggling this past week or so with wanting the sugary foods. I don’t know what it is but I just feel like I want something sweet, almost doesn’t matter what, just for the sake of it. I didn’t sleep well last week so could be that or just a bad habit.

Going to try harder this week not to reach for the sugary snacks. Maybe need some healthy snacks around. The Deliciously Ella things were on offer in Boots the other day.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/02/2020 12:02

I feel like I’ve got into bad habits otherwise too like the mindless scrolling online etc. I have a habit of scrolling through mumsnet, Facebook whatever, even internet shopping, while watching TV rather than just sitting and watching and hour of TV and then doing something else. I need to limit my internet time I think or not allow myself to go online while I’m watching tv. Sorry this probably sounds odd if you don’t know what I mean.

OP posts:
Shefliesonherownwings · 03/02/2020 11:27

@EssJayyCee I haven't but my friend has. She said it was hard but she felt really good on it. Unfortunately she likes carbs too much to do it full time.

@BunnytheBlueWhale I know exactly what you mean. I mindlessly scroll all the time and wine up buying things I don't need. DH have a terrible habit of being on our phones even when we're watching something. I'm sure I'm addicted to mine. I need to implement some screen limits.

It's been a disastrous weekend food wise. Unfortunately DH and I bumped into some extended family at the supermarket on Saturday and they had their six month old with them. First time we've seen them since losing Isla. We made our excuses and left quickly but it really set us back. Their daughter will always remind us that Isla should have been just three months younger. As a result we ate very poorly including fish fingers and chips, pizza and lots of sugar. :(

Today is a new day however and I have been to body combat this morning and off to counselling shortly. Have booked more classes this week so will try to undo the bad weekend.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 03/02/2020 12:19

@Shefliesonherownwings Oh that’s tough. Don’t worry about it eating poorly at the weekend. I kind of think we need the weekend to relax a little. Body combat is a great start to the week! I might do something as simple as make myself pause the tv if I want to read something online or go on a website. I think mindfulness is part of it. It’s as if I have to be doing something while I’m watching tv which is ridiculous really

BunnytheBlueWhale · 03/02/2020 12:19

I got a meal deal from Boots this morning so I’ve had a an innocent juice, a humous and falalfel wrap and some DE balls 😬

OP posts:
Shefliesonherownwings · 04/02/2020 14:45

How is everyone doing today?

I still haven't tried the DE balls, keep forgetting to look for them in Tescos, must try harder.

@BunnytheBlueWhale I know exactly what you mean. I reach for my phone automatically when watching tv, sometimes I'm just playing candy crush. It really isn't good for me, I'm going to try to put my phone in another room if we settle down to watch something. Might need to take up knitting or something to keep my hands occupied.

I managed a spin class this morning. I'm actually enjoying getting back to classes I used to enjoy before I was pregnant. I've also realised it's really nice to have 45 mins or an hour where I don't have to think about anything except the class and someone else is telling me what to do. I don't have to make any decisions, I just follow the instructions. It's refreshing. Also a month ago, getting up before 10 or 11am felt impossible so I'm proud of myself for getting up at 8:30 the last two days and dragging myself to the gym.

Am trying with food but seem to have lost a lot of motivation. I'm trying not to eat crap but am snacking too much I think. I'm trying to not slip backwards completely with bad food choices but it is hard work, it feels like a constant battle.

Off to the vet shortly, our poor cat has a big swelling on his head and it's getting worse so we got an emergency appointment this afternoon. Poor thing, he's not made a fuss at all but must be in pain. Fingers crossed it's nothing major.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 04/02/2020 16:44

I got the DE balls again today. The hazelnut ones are my favourite but I don’t think I’d get them if not in a meal deal. They’re £1.99! 😮

@BunnytheBlueWhale You are doing really well with exercise. When we first lost our DD I found mornings the hardest for some reason. I’d wake up and feel crap but getting upset and being bush helps.

I really hope your cat is ok

Hope everyone else is on too and we haven’t all fallen off the bandwagon because January is over 😂🙈

MissSparkles81 · 08/02/2020 16:47

Afternoon all ... hope your all doing ok?

Im happy to report a 1.5lb loss this week. I haven't tracked or anything so suspect it was bloat from last week.

Having an off plan day today and then back ontrack from tomorrow.

Have a lovely weekend everyone ❤

BunnytheElephant · 08/02/2020 16:55

Well done! @MissSparkles81 That’s fantastic

I’m not doing amazingly as have been a. It under the weather week but went to yoga today and will get back to the exercise once I’m feeling more myself. Sorry that sounds like a cop out!

Hope everyone else is ok @tortiecat @EssJayyCee @Shefliesonherownwings @SunshineCrocodile @Avocuddles @LASandOtto

MissSparkles81 · 08/02/2020 17:58

@BunnytheElephant not at all a cop out lovely. I know how tough this coming week is for you xx

Shefliesonherownwings · 08/02/2020 18:07

@MissSparkles81 well done on your loss, that's brilliant.

@BunnytheBlueWhale I agree it's not a cop out. Being healthy is a long journey, and sometimes we need a little break especially when poorly.

I started the week well with body combat and spinning but then AF struck early and wiped me out for the rest of the week. Had to cancel body pump and my PT. Also did very bad with food so inevitably I've gained this week with.

But I've started again today. Am currently making a couple of healthy WW lunches and a thai green curry again for dinner. I've also booked into a good few classes this week including spinning tomorrow. DH and I go away in 2 weeks and I'm hoping my Jeans will be a bit less snug by then. I tried them on yesterday and they do up but are a bit tight. Think thin!

BunnytheElephant · 08/02/2020 19:07

Thank you xx

I am definitely eating a bit more healthy overall with snacks and stuff

DH doesn’t want dinner as he has toothache and I really don’t feel like cooking so need some strength not to order a pizza! 🍕

Where are you going on hol?@Shefliesonherownwings

Shefliesonherownwings · 09/02/2020 09:45

@BunnytheElephant we're going to New York for 5 days. We decided we needed a break and a distraction and I've always wanted to go but never been so we got a good deal. Sitting on a beach somewhere is not what we want right now so we wanted somewhere with plenty to do so we can keep busy.

I wont be keeping up with the healthy eating but should do plenty of walking so hopefully that will do some damage control!

tortiecat · 09/02/2020 14:20

Hello all. I am sorry I haven't been around for ages - DH developed a bad infection after some minor surgery and ended up in hospital. A huge shock to both of us but thankfully he is home now and almost completely recovered.

I haven't been careful with what I've eaten at all, there has been a lot of pizza and other bready things on the menu and my weight has definitely increased - but have done a few classes when I could so I am feeling fitter and my clothes are a little looser so I suppose it is a positive trend!
Have been thinking of you all and will try and check in a bit more frequently again now.

BunnytheElephant · 09/02/2020 14:28

That sounds amazing @Shefliesonherownwings A holiday where you can do things sounds like a really good idea. Absolutely eat what you want and enjoy your hol!

@tortiecat Don’t apologise! I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful time but pleased your DH is doing better. Don’t beat yourself up for not eating well all the time. I haven’t done to well diet wise the last week or two. My excuse is I’ve been super busy with work and this week is DD anniversary.

Full disclosure - had Dominoes pizza last night 🙈 but I’m going for a walk with DH now to work off some calories...

I'd like to join this thread and will read the thread later then start to chat. X

VenusStarr · 11/02/2020 18:54

Hi guys, just popping my head back in. I had a break for a while as was getting very overwhelmed with ttc etc. I have had another loss (very early at around 4.5 weeks) but have managed to not completely sabotage myself. I did have a couple of days eating pizza and chocolate and drank wine but I maintained my stone weight loss, so pleased with that. Still would like to lose another stone but have brought my bmi down to just over 26 ☺️
We've been approved for ivf which could start within the next couple of months so even more determined to continue to be healthy.

Just trying to catch up with the thread...

avocadoincident · 12/02/2020 14:29

Hello everyone, I've recently joined the other thread and I've read about 90% of this thread now

You are an inspirational and positive and realistic bunch.

Long story short, I'm 40 and have had 2 miscarriages in the last 4 months. First at 20 weeks and more recently (on Monday) at 7 weeks.

My aims are to stay sane, stop snacking, zero alcohol, lose a stone/ drop my BMI by 3 points and exercise daily.

I am lucky as I have two daughters. My eldest is 20 and at uni and my youngest is 1yr 10 months. I'm still breastfeeding the little one.

I'm a teacher but am off work until the little one is in school but I work part time tutoring from home and walk everywhere so try to walk 40 minutes a day. I also try to hula hoop for a minimum of 20 minutes a night.

I don't want to count calories or follow a plan. I'm vegan and mainly healthy but I also love crumpets and crisps. And my portions are enormous and then I have seconds.

I want to only eat in the 8 hour window and rest my stomach for 16 hours. Does anyone else do that?

I'm off to buy a scales now to monitor my weight loss.

I'm so glad I've found you all!
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗

BunnytheBee · 15/02/2020 10:54

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been quiet. It’s been a tough week but I’m back and feeling determined to achieve my goals, personally, professionally and in terms of health and fitness.

I haven’t done much exercise or eaten really well for a couple of weeks but I’m in the gym now. I did 20 mins cardio and now I’m waiting to go into yoga.

Hope you’re ok @VenusStarr

@avocadoincident welcome
