Anyone looking to start TTC in New Year?

Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

@lucymagoo it was really lovely. I was 19 and a uni student so while I had a great group of friends (who are all still "auntie" or "uncle" to DD) I had no idea what I was doing and no mum friends. They got me through so much and still do when I'm having a bit of a meltdown about girlguiding uniforms and school dilemmas 😂

Haha pleased it’s not just me who keeps MN as my little secret he would just think I’m crazy talking about this to people I don’t know on the internet! But it’s a little bit of relief talking to people in the same position with similar worries and frustrations!
I’m also hoping this parenting malarkey brings some new friends, I only have a couple of really close friends at the moment who are at different stages so be nice to expand my group. I’m not sure if I’ll be going to antenatal classes (I know I’ll need a planned section) but hoping to meet some people along the way. My mum met her best friend in the ward after having me, they were next to eachother in the hospital after giving birth and bonded over a love of coffee and not having a clue what to do with these new little things! It always makes me smile that story and I hope to have the same maybe

In other news I’ve just got home, totally forgot I was meant to do an OPK so I’ll have to wait until I need a wee again 😂 need some sort of reminder system I’m too scatty!

I'm also hoping to make mum friends, we will be the first out of our friendship group (depending on how long it takes)! And I don't really have loads of friends where I live anyway as I moved here after university, so other than DH's friends and their partners, I can sometimes feel a little lonely!

Just in case anyone is interested I’ve posted the instructions from the One Step OPKs I think it was around £5 for 30 from amazon! Quite specific instructions aren’t they who knew it was such a science

On day 41 of my cycle and still no AF, got no clue what's going on with my body. Could travel / jetlag mess things up? I travelled from London to New York for 8 days on the 13th Dec

@lucymagoo where have you moved too? DH and I are looking at moving to the Watford area, we saw a house we liked at the weekend and hoping to make an offer this week. I'd love to move before I'm too far along so can some mummy friends nearby. I do have some friends with little ones but they live all over the place.

On another note, I went shopping today for a present for my BF's new baby girl. Got the cutest little dress/trousers combo and my heart melted 😍. Can't wait for cuddles at the weekend.

@FootballAndBeer145 how frustrating I bet it’s driving you mad! I don’t have any experience myself as I’ve always been on the pill when I’ve travelled in the past but I would guess it could impact your cycle with the plane travel and the tiredness of it all too. I hope it comes for you soon or you get a positive test

@Ginger87 good luck with the house offer, hope it all goes smoothly for you! We’re going to start house renovations in the next month or so meaning it should all be done if/when there’s an extra person in the house! Enjoy your baby cuddles I’ve noticed I’m seeing babies a lot more at the moment!

Well I did my One Step test and below is the result, I understand it’s not positive as the test line needs to be darker than the control line but the fact there’s another line at all might be a good sign? I’ve been reading conflicting reports on the internet, I think if I’ve understood correctly then it should get darker over the coming days. I will probably test again in the morning (not FMU) and then when I get home although I’ll be travelling so will be slightly later than today Photo from the Femometer app which I’ve just signed up to at £8.99 a month. So much for being chilled it’s the control freak in me I can’t help it!

Ahh it was you who recommended it @BernadetteThreep I was trying to read back as I remembered someone showed an app they were using. I blame you for the £8.99 a month
Right ok so maybe things are going in the right direction, even though no AF only problem is I won’t be with DP until Friday evening now due to him working nights and me being out during the day so I suppose we might miss it!

@yoomoo yes I would expect that to go darker in the next day or so so ovulation imminent!

I have a great antenatal group from my first baby, both from on here (it moved onto fb) and the real life one we did (bump and baby club, like nct). I would really recommend the classes even if you plan to have a c section. They cover lots of useful stuff for when baby is here and ours included some c section prep too, as well as baby and child first aid. But also it was great to meet local friends!

Thanks @EffRam I will keep testing over the next few days and update! I’m even more confused about what my body is up to now though if that is correct. Hmm we’ll see!

That’s great feedback thank you, I just kind of assumed it would all be about normal births so thought it wouldn’t be helpful but that does sound good so I’ll check it out in the future. I guess they might do special ones for sections too if a lot happen in my area, something to explore!

We are opposite a lot because he works permanent nights but on a rolling basis, I work boring Mon-Fri 9 till 5 but we’ll hopefully make it work! I actually hadn’t considered it until now!

@Ginger87 oh my gosh we are in Watford! Just outside it in the suburbs. Love it here I would definitely recommend, very close to London but feels like its own little town

Hi, I'm looking to start ttc no 3. I next ovulate around 23rd January I have two girls who are 3 and 1. We've been discussing this for a year hubby was a bit nervous but he's come around and we've been talking honestly and openly today he started a new job in October and was worried about trying for a baby soon in to his new job as both my previous pregancies were quite hard and he had to help quite a lot. Fingers crossed we will start trying in 3 weeks but it might be feb or March if he feels he needs a bit more headspace at work first

@lucymagoo no way! We're looking in Croxley Green - seems like a beautiful village! But the area in general looks ideal.

We've been looking ages, thought we'd found somewhere last year but it fell through at the last minute so fingers crossed this one works out.

Re the telling people... loads of people know I'm obsessed with checking mumsnet (mainly for the crazy threads) but I've only told my OH that I'm on a conception thread I told my mum and a couple of friends I've come off the pill though!

Morning all. Fingers crossed I ovulate today. It feel immenent and my main tracking app is saying today, but a did a sneaky look on another calculator yesterday (why!) and it said Thursday. Going to have to take a OPK to work with me and hopefully I'll get chance to do it later.

Apps are predicting start of AF today and tbh, I do feel the twinges so fingers crossed it starts soon!

And so my TWW starts... testing feels so long away and it sounds silly but I just don't 'feel' pregnant so thinking I'm out for this month but hoping that mindset will mean I don't feel disappointed when/if AF arrives

@Ginger87 I cannot remember what AF is really like either. Good luck with all the house stuff we are hoping to put our house on the market within the next couple of months.

@yoomoo the OPKs seem like a whole other world of science not sure I'm ready for all that. But glad it seems things are going in the right direction for you with regards to ovulation.

Also hope to meet some new mum friends when the time comes as haven't really got many friends with children. Would also be nice to share experience with people in a similar situation.

@switcharoo same for me, I think! App said tomorrow but I think I felt ov pains yesterday and the test was really dark yesterday and lighter today.

My husband got in at 1 so made him perform then and also snuck an extra one in this morning after we dropped the baby at childcare so fingers crossed!

I'm going to try not to test until / unless I'm late but last time I was obsessed so we will see how long I last...

I am 12 dpo I think according to my cycle... When is the right time to test? Do I wait until my period is late?

You're most likely to get a clear result from when your period is due, but some tests e.g. first response will show up beforehand. However, if they don't show up yet that doesn't always mean it's negative, your body needs to have a good amount of the hormone in your body which is usually when you're late!

Basically I'm saying - it's sensible to wait until you're late but I am terrible and always test early!!
