TTC - first cycle - baby #1

Blondeandbroody · 05/12/2019 00:32

I thought I’d create a space for people like me who are in their first cycle of TTC for baby number 1! Be nice to progress and learn together!

I do rely heavily on the advice of people further along in their journeys but I also love speaking to people in the exact same boat as me who are clueless about all of this and just starting on their journey. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone and not crazy haha!

If you wanna join (please do) then maybe share your CD, DPO and AF due date (if you know it).

I am:
CD - 18
DPO - around 2 or 3 can’t be sure
AF due - 16th December

I am just off the mini pill on which I had semi regular AFs and I stopped the pill on CD 1, when my last AF started. So I can’t be sure of anything other than my CD!!

My period is finished now and I literally just got that little sunken feeling thinking about the dread of tww again:( literally there is nothing I wouldn't do if I knew I was going to have a baby. The fear is that it doesn't happen for everyone :( I'm nearly 27 so just hoping time is still on my side ..

Hope all well x

zinrepus · 18/12/2019 22:11

I had more or less resigned myself to waiting for (jetlagged late) AF. And today we're back on the roller coaster where I again have no idea what's going on. Had some queasy tummy yesterday and today. Unsure if I saw a shadow on my cheapie test this morning or if I've got wishful thinking eyes. Similarly a test from a few days ago seems to have a plus... I know they don't count but as I'm keeping stuff out of sight, I can't seem to help checking back dated tests. We'll give it a few days* and update later.

Enjoying my trip reasonably well though, so that's good! Keeping fingers crossed for folk and waiting for either good news or a glass of wine! Xmas Wink

*keep using cheapies daily and eventually try another big guns test

Blondeandbroody · 18/12/2019 23:17

@zinrepus I have two tests that were negative and now they're showing blue positive lines hours later. Not sure we can trust them tho!

@Newbie1992 you just have to remember that it's worth it and try and find something to keep your mind off it best you can x

How’s everyone today? I’m feeling some serious AF like symptoms so I’m pretty convinced I’m out, will see what the weekend brings!

November44 · 19/12/2019 14:28

Hi ladies! Thought I’d join the group this is my first cycle ttc, don’t want to get my hopes up to much as its only the first month but it’s hard not the symptom spot. Im 25 but have had problem periods in the past and have always had a 34/35 day cycle and ovulate later than the usual 14 days. Just fingers crossed this will happen for us as we’d both love to have a baby, reassuring to see so many in the same boat. AF is due in 4 days absolutely no pms symptoms or sore boobs either that I usually get before AF so pretty sure I’ve missed the boat this month, fingers crossed for you ladies x

Blondeandbroody · 19/12/2019 19:18

I think I am starting to come to the realisation that I'm just gonna have to wait for my first proper AF after coming off the pill. I am in CD 31 and if it's not happening now it's not gonna as we haven't DTD beyond 8th December. So I should be getting positive tests by now if I caught when we DTD.

Bit gutted as I really thought I had stopped my pill at a good time and cause I had semi regular periods on the pill they'd just continue. Just kidding myself thinking it would happen quickly and my periods would go back to normal.

I am frustrated.

Just gonna forget about this cycle and wait for AF and just keep DTD without worrying and just enjoy it haha like we're supposed to!

PeanutCat · 19/12/2019 19:47

Hi all,
Hope it's ok to join here. I came off the mini pill on the 6th December, I haven't had AF for about a year and a half as the mini pill made AF very irregular.

Before I went on the pill I had quite standard 28 day cycles with AF lasting around 4-5 days so I'm hoping my body adjusts back to how it was before.

Currently haven't had AF since coming off the pill and I don't think I've ovulated either but unsure on that. I've got no idea where I am on this first cycle so just seeing how things go and waiting until AF arrives.

Would like to take a test, out of curiosity more than anything but not sure when would be best ? Grin

Blondeandbroody · 19/12/2019 20:58

@PeanutCat hey lovely I love your name haha!!

It's hard to say I've taken so many tests I don't even wanna say how many!!! I'm cd31 and all tests have been negative a few squinters but in the end BFN. I think you would be best off just waiting until you get a period or you have overwhelming symptoms and need to soothe your mind.

Maybe you can test now just to confirm you're not pregnant tho be great if you were!! X

PeanutCat · 19/12/2019 21:14

@Blondeandbroody haha thanks! We have a small round cat that we like to nickname peanut.

Yes I think waiting until AF is probably the best idea, just want things to hurry up and get back to normal now though !Grin

Maybe if there's no sign of AF after Christmas I will take a test just to see x

Nmew · 19/12/2019 22:12

I hope for a quick bfp for you ladies, and if not this cycle the fingers crossed the first one after AF when coming off the pill. I’ve read some stories of bfp coming off the pill so there is always hope. So hard to tell when everyone’s body works so differently, be great if it were all just clockwork, all the guess work can become so frustrating.

My AF type cramps have gone now, 3 more days till I’m due so time will tell for us all I guess.

SpimblesDimbles · 23/12/2019 10:06

morning all :).

sorry! i am here reading along with your news but STILL need to download the app for this! :).

how is everyone? any positive news? xxx

Nmew · 23/12/2019 11:11

Hi @SpimblesDimbles welcome! I’m on day 2 of a late AF. Taken 2 frer tests but I’m pretty sure they’re bfn. Another day of waiting to test again! Are you ttc? xx

SpimblesDimbles · 23/12/2019 11:51

@nmew - ooh fingers crossed then! are your dates definitely right or could you be out by a few?

we are! 1st month :). i am unsure how long my cycle is however as i havent tracked it for very long, so currently on CD 34. tested last saturday and was a negative but unsure if that was top early if my cycle length is out. not tested again!

Nmew · 23/12/2019 12:05

I’ve used the clue app for years, so I know my average cycle is 28days, but it does go over the odd time so I don’t think I’ll totally get my hopes up yet lol
I used opks to try track ovulation and I think I ovulated cd13 which would make me about 17dpo. But this is my first time really paying attention to ovulation so I can’t be 100% sure. I’m cd30 today, now I know AF is due I don’t think I can stop myself poas!
Fx for you, when do you think you’ll test again?

Yorkshirelass04 · 23/12/2019 17:10

Can I join? This is my first post on mumsnet!

I'm 36 and had my first unprotected sex 3 days ago during fertile window.

I am currently not tracking via any other method than period dates. Periods are a very regular 26 days apart.

Does my age make a difference?

StephyRose · 23/12/2019 17:46

Hi everyone,

This is my 2nd time of TTC but would be my first baby. I fell pregnant at the end of September this year but had a MMC mid November. Without dwelling too much on that as this is a positive thread and as it should be too, I started my first period on Saturday exactly 4 weeks and 1 day post surgery so I'm counting today as CD3.

Before I fell pregnant my cycles were 26 days apart on average and so will be BD like crazy from Sunday 29th onwards as I ovulated CD11 last time.

Can't help but imagine next Christmas with a tiny wee baby. Wishing you all lots of love and luck and Baby Dust ❤

StephyRose · 23/12/2019 17:51

Hi @yorkshirelass04, I dont think so at all. The internet might tell you it does but I have so many friends 35+ who have conceived, no problem. And I have friends who are younger than me (28,29) and it has taken them 2 years + to fall pregnant.

Yorkshirelass04 · 23/12/2019 17:55

@stephyrose Thanks, fingers crossed then! It's only been cycle 1 with DTD once so not expecting big things. It's only 3 days since!

Sausage1990 · 23/12/2019 17:58

Hi @Yorkshirelass04 I'm new here too.

I'm just tracking periods and cervical mucus using an app... I think I'll get a bit obsessed if I started using opk this early into ttc. We're on cycle 1 of trying for #1 so who knows lol

Do you use an app? I use flo and I'm either 7dpo or 5dpo (I had ovulation pain 2 days after my predicted date so its more likely 5dpo).

Did anyone have symptoms this early? I've been getting more headaches and achey sore breasts which is so unusual to me... But really don't want to get my hopes up over nothing...
Xx

Yorkshirelass04 · 23/12/2019 18:04

@Sausage1990 we are nearly identical in our journey then! Pleased to meet you.

I am possibly 3 or 4 dpo. I've been having cramps on one side and things feel a bit heavier down there but honestly it's probably just me overthinking. I normally get weird twinges all month long.

Sausage1990 · 23/12/2019 18:14

@Yorkshirelass04 😊 it's good to meet someone on the same journey & have these forums to share all our overthinking.

Yeah I think this early implantation hadn't even happened yet... I'm trying hard to just not overthink. I can be quite crampy at times so I'm ignoring those but I'm keeping a little eye in the achey boobs because they're new... Also not wanting to get my hopes up.

I have a confession - it was my DH who said let's start trying this month and it panicked me a bit but it settled in my mind and thought OK it probably won't work anyway but now just 8 days after the first time we DTD, I know that I'll be upset if af shows up and or it's BFN, even tho the thought of a positive still terrifies me slightly... Am I alone in this thinking?
Xx

Yorkshirelass04 · 25/12/2019 19:34

Firstly merry Xmas all! Hope you are all having a wonderful time with friends or family.

@Sausage1990 I'm exactly the same. I don't know what would freak me out more, a positive or negative test!

We have also been on the fence for so long regarding having a family or not and have taken the plunge now.

I'm about 5dpo so still waiting.

HeidiEz2019 · 26/12/2019 09:29

I use Premom app and their own easy@home OPKs. For now, it works for me.
I happen to find their website. premom.com/blogs/how-to-use-ovulation-tests
There are many blogs on their website that teach me how to use OPKs. I really appreciate their effort.

zinrepus · 27/12/2019 03:51

Hi all! My Christmas gift was AF visiting after a lovely 36 day cycle. Two flights in two weeks will do it. I should get back home before AF is done and will be using OPKs once I get back sooo there's that.

It's weird. With AF returning I am both disappointed and excited to start again. With the tww, you don't have any control and can't do anything more which is weird. Now I'm back to having something to track and monitor outside of symptom spotting.

How was everyone else's Christmas?

Newbie1992 · 27/12/2019 13:29

Hi all :) lots of new names here and I am so so bad at keeping up so I'm sorry 😂😂 @zinrepus I know that feeling, in a way it's freeing at least not to be in that misery ! I'm now in my fertile window again and my heart is wrecked with anxiety, second cycle only so trying to reign it in a bit 😂x
