TTC - first cycle - baby #1

Blondeandbroody · 05/12/2019 00:32

I thought I’d create a space for people like me who are in their first cycle of TTC for baby number 1! Be nice to progress and learn together!

I do rely heavily on the advice of people further along in their journeys but I also love speaking to people in the exact same boat as me who are clueless about all of this and just starting on their journey. It’s comforting to know we’re not alone and not crazy haha!

If you wanna join (please do) then maybe share your CD, DPO and AF due date (if you know it).

I am:
CD - 18
DPO - around 2 or 3 can’t be sure
AF due - 16th December

I am just off the mini pill on which I had semi regular AFs and I stopped the pill on CD 1, when my last AF started. So I can’t be sure of anything other than my CD!!

@Blondeandbroody yeah that’s exactly the approach we are going to take, its all we can do really. I’m such an impatient person which I know won’t be helping. Well I’ve started my withdrawal bleed now so that’s good

Symptomspotter86 · 07/12/2019 11:07

I stupidly tested this morning on a FRER and got stark BFN and it wasnt even FMU. I'm only 8DPO and maybe even only 7DPO as not entirely sure when I actually ovulated. Stupid really as now I'm just super disappointed. Hate this waiting game

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 13:06

@Readyforthis I'm so impatient too but I think the more I read about chemical pregnancies and the disappointment of people who get a faint line then nothing it puts me off testing. Doesn't mean in a weeks time when I could technically get a result in a test I won't do one haha cause I am impatient!! My goal is to wait another 7 days minimum! I'm due in 11 days so we shall see.

@Symptomspotter86 least you know there's still a chance just try and remember that disappointment you feel when you get the urge to POAS until it's closer to when you're due. Theoretically you can only see something from 9-12dpo anyways so don't be too disheartened x

LONG POST ALERT

Hi ladies, this is my 4th cycle of TTC #1. AF was due Monday so I'm now 5 days late. I'm on day 35 of my cycle of a normally 29 day cycle... I tested yesterday (albeit after work and not with FMU) but I'm just getting BFN..

I had some slight spotting on Weds which i assumed was AF starting but blink and you would've missed it, and I'm typically a quick 3 days of AF and then im done.. So spotting is very out of the ordinary.

I feel incredibly bloated, very sick at different points of the day and so exhausted... Although this could all be because its almost the end of the term and I'm a very exhausted teacher that can't wait for Santa and the Christmas break!

Now what do I do?! DH has suggested just waiting until later this week and then properly testing with a more sensitive Clear Blue digital, rather than the cheap 25ml Internet sticks I've been using... Then if nothing happens, request a Dr's appt. Although, I'm miserable just waiting. What if something is genuinely wrong?!!

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 14:02

@newlymarried2019 go get a better and more sensitive test and try again?

If that still says negative see how you feel on Monday and ring the docs? Xx

OP posts:
Readyforthis · 07/12/2019 16:57

@Blondeandbroody oh yeah definitely, but I don’t think that will be stopping us testing as soon as we possibly can. I think give yourself a target day and then you have a focus and something to stick to.

@newlymarried2019 I second what @Blondeandbroody has said, go get a more sensitive test, I have read a couple of stories of where it’s taken a while for a BFP to show.

Blondeandbroody · 07/12/2019 23:20

@Newbie1992 I thought I'd join you in breaking our pact 😂😂

However I went into it laughing at myself knowing it would be negative and as stupid as it sounds I kinda just wanted to do one (or 4) to know what it's like! I have done one before after a scare a few years ago but I was hoping it was negative then haha (it was) and I don't really remember it.

And yes I used 4 I was scared I'd done the first two wrong as I used two different types so I could see the way they worked 😂 I have a purchasing problem I have some FRERs, some Sainsbury's ones and two packs of different cheapies off eBay (thrones I used)! So I have plenty of stock and hoping I won't need them all 😂. Clearly I got excited when we decided to start trying...

I don't feel bad that it was negative as I knew it would be!

I'm so weird cause it's actually just made me more excited for the day I take one and a second line shows up. Let's see how long this lasts!

I genuinely didn't know or remember that the control line isn't already there before you POAS, so I was a bit confused at first and just sat and watched them work.

Hi all! Joining in if you don't mind!

CD20
6DPO
AF due on 17 December

First cycle TTC #1, I'm 31 DH is 27. I was on the copper coil, which I had out just before AF last month. I'm trying to wait until the 16 to test.

I've been using Clue religiously for years and recently added in Flo on a pal's recommendation. I complicated things by adding Fertility Friend and Ovia with about a year's back data, which of course has me worrying, as Ovia puts me 3DPO and the rest at 6. - _-

Adding to the fun, my cycle is flexible, usually ranging from 26 to 34 days, exacerbated by stress and travel... And I've got a 10 hour flight coming up on the 11 so...yeah. Driving myself a little crazy but hopefully the panic packing keeps me distracted...

I did get some cheapie tests in the post yesterday, which helped for keeping me from testing unnecessarily early... But we're still ages away from the 14 DPO which has the highest positive rate...

SpimblesDimbles · 08/12/2019 18:53

Hello! :)

CD 18
5 DPO
AF due on the 18th.

This is our 1st month trying and I am using the 'Flo' app to track my cycle. I have been a bit of a symptom spotter and have had some tummy cramps, dizzyness, felt sick and have had some spells where I have been really warm!

I am promising myself not to test until AF doesn't appear, just hope I get that far!

newlymarried2019 · 08/12/2019 19:10

@Blondeandbroody @Readyforthis I think the plan is to play out this week and see how I get on... If no AF by next Sunday then I'll test again, if still BFN then I'll phone and make a doctors appointment. It means I'll be 14 days late and should most definitely be registering as PG so fingers crossed doctors will be able to have some further advice.

Who knew that it was such a waiting lark? I've spent the last 15 years being worried I'd get pregnant any day by having unprotected sex, why don't people tell you how difficult it can be TTC?!!

Blondeandbroody · 08/12/2019 20:58

@SpimblesDimbles and @zinrepus

We're all due our AF around the same time!!

Hopefully we all get our BFPs at the same time ❤️

Blondeandbroody · 08/12/2019 23:15

I fell down the stairs earlier tonight.

I'm okay, a little bruised and banged up but otherwise fine.

It's weird what TTC can do to you because the first thing I thought was please don't let this affect this cycle!

I'm not sure when I ovulated but if I ovulated on the average (day 14) then I'm 7dpo which is around usual implantation which is a precarious part so I hear. 😖

OP posts:
emstone · 09/12/2019 06:45

@Blondeandbroody oh gosh I hope you're okay!!! These things can be a right scare at times! I'm sure whatever is happening on the inside is well protected

SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 07:23

@Blondeandbroody - ouch! i hope you are ok other than your bruises! it its SUCH a scary thing to happen isnt it. exactly - it's crazy how our minds go straight to our cycles and what is going on inside, but like @emstone says, i'm sure everything is well protected! xxx

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 08:07

@SpimblesDimbles @emstone
Thanks girls ❤️
Got a cracking bruise all up my arm and one on my back/bum 😂
Yeah I'm sure it won't have changed anything at all, I won't know any different if it did so no point worrying about it.

Anybody having any symptoms today? X

PS I know it's Monday, urgggghhhhhhh, but it's another a day closer to Christmas and even better, another day closer to POAS 😂

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 10:46

@Blondeandbroody - at least its the weather to be wrapped up! :).

i keep getting dizzy today, and im just sat at my desk! im unsure if i feel a bit sick too?! how about you?

wahooooo! always feel better when monday is out the way don't we :). break up for christmas on the 20th as well! so much to look forward to! xx

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 11:43

@SpimblesDimbles I felt like I might be feeling sick this morning but kept thinking maybe it's in my head haha!

I had some spotting overnight or something that resembled it but it was like a pale brown/almost yellow and orangey colour too. No idea what that was ha. It was there when i wiped, soz for TMI, aswell.

I break up in 18th off for 2.5 weeks so I'm stressing trying to get all my work done before then!! Hopefully it will help time go quicker!

OP posts:
emstone · 09/12/2019 12:54

Nothing for me on the symptom front! Kinda just want AF to start and then I can start tracking my cycles. I'm not very good at just sitting and waiting.

I've created a countdown for POAS though so every time I'm bored I just have a quick look at that, I like seeing the hours go down! Even if it is very slowly haha

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 13:03

@emstone

I like to use my Ovia app and count the days past ovulation each day even though it's just +1 each day 😂

I have also been googling the cycle day i am on to see what is floating around on the internet about each cycle day.

I feel prepared for a BFN this first cycle, because I know it's just a matter of luck for it to happen so quickly!

I've had some symptoms but I can't trust myself that they were real haha I've definitely had cramping but that could literally be anything. All the rest might be in my head or unrelated! I've resigned myself to the fact that unless I get any overwhelming symptoms I'm gonna wait a week til my earliest predicted AF due date and see if AF shows up.

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 09/12/2019 16:16

@Blondeandbroody - making ourselves feel sick, hahha. i keep thinking the same too! but i definitely feel off, i have done for about a week - and its not getting any worse or better i wouldn't say, just lingering!

spotting is a good sign though? fingers crossed anyway! just keep your eye on it and see if it continues. ive not had any at all.

lovely break off work then! we are similar where i am, being at work has surely gotta make time to faster!!

@emstone - the waiting game is so hard isnt it! whens af due?

hoping its 1st time lucky, i really am! i know its rather unlikely that it will be this month and i do keep telling myself that but i know im going to be disappointed if i get a bfn!

zinrepus · 09/12/2019 16:40

@Blondeandbroody As an epic klutz, falling down stairs is a pretty serious concern of my own. But I do think at this stage you'd be okay...it's really once there are counter-masses that things get scary!

I had a migraine 2DPO, completely with severe nausea that actually had me on the bathroom floor for a moment...which I know is too early, but did make me go, "I'M NOT READY TO FEEL LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME" Confused

Then I remembered I often get a migraine mid-cycle (something something hormonal drop post ovulation?) so that is basically ignorable input.

I have been symptom spotting like nobody's business, though. The best thing I've been doing for myself is rushing to the loo in the morning to wee before I talk myself into POAS too early. We're approx 7DPO now, and I've got a 12 hour travel day coming up Wednesday...so hopefully I can keep my system running until 12DPO.

I will say, watching youtube videos of folks POAS from 8DPO onwards has really made a good impression on me (namely, almost nobody gets a visible result 8DPO, waiting until 10-14 makes WAY more sense). Please someone tell me I'm not the only one down that youtube hole?

Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 17:02

@zinrepus I didn't even know there was a YouTube hole haha!!

I think it's in our best interests to wait! The excited impatience is more bearable than the disappointment of a negative too early in my mind! X

OP posts:
Blondeandbroody · 09/12/2019 17:05

@SpimblesDimbles I'm not entirely sure what it was and I can't measure it based on this time in my cycle last month as I wasn't tracking things like a crazy person haha!

I can't work out what's real or not!

I think no matter how excited we get or how prepared we make ourself for a negative we will feel disappointment, that's natural. I'm just trying to balance the excitement with a realistic outlook!

OP posts:
SpimblesDimbles · 10/12/2019 07:49

@Blondeandbroody - im the same! 'was this happening last month?' 'what was going on a month ago?' 'did i feel like this at this time last month?'.

just keeping fingers crossed for a little christmas miracle for us all!

happy tuesday!
