Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to get and give support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy and baby. Pregnancy and child loss is the most awful thing anyone can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

Morning everyone, I miscarried on the 1st of January, what a way to start the new year!!
Went to EPU yesterday & they confirmed my womb was empty, just waiting for the negative test result so that we can TTC again. My HCG was at 52 yesterday, they will retest tomorrow, how long does it usually take to go down? Or is that a how long is a piece of string question?
They found a cyst on my right ovary during the scan, told me it's nothing to worry about but to have it checked in 3 months time, how can you not worry!!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 07/01/2020 09:13

@SunStruck well not quite AF yet. I thought it would be here last night but still just a bit of spotting occasionally. I feel like I have PMT again 🙄

Ldawg · 07/01/2020 10:00

Hi all, new here!

So sorry for all your losses.

I had an unexpected first pregnancy at the end of last year which resulted in miscarriage (blighted ovum) discovered at 8 weeks in November. Despite being unplanned we were SO excited and have now decided to TTC. I'm 33.

Since I miscarried I've not stopped bleeding! I'm going through cycles at the moment of painful, heavy bleeds followed by spotting then maybe 1-3 days of no bleeding just to start bleeding again. Went to doc yesterday who has referred me for bloods and a scan and she is expecting results to be normal. She then wants to reset my periods with the pill. I was a bit disappointed that my blood test is not for two weeks and who knows when the scan will be (I work for NHS so completely understand the struggles!) so I decided to go back on the pill as of yesterday in the hope that one pack will sort me out and I can then try again in one month rather than waiting! Has anyone had experience in this?

Re HCG levels, mine were going down for 3 weeks and still didn't reach the level they wanted (got to about 100 wanted less than 10) but they were happy not to see me again (!?). Told me to do a preg test in 3 weeks and if negative all was ok but to let them know about any changes. When I called them about the heavy bleeding they didn't want to know as my pregnancy test had been negative.

Avocuddles · 07/01/2020 10:02

@kkr168 sorry to hear about your loss, what an awful start to the year. In answer to your question it took me three weeks to get a negative after my first mc, and two weeks after the second. Both were between 7 and 8 weeks. If you don't mind me asking how far along were you and was this your first pregnancy?
Although the scan suggested everything was over, I had intermittent bleeding for several weeks after my first miscarriage. Your first cycle might be a bit longer than usual, and your first period (if you're bit pregnant by then of course) might also not be 'normal'. I hope you don't have to wait long for your rainbow x

TerribleImagination · 07/01/2020 10:40

Hi again @kkr168 👋🏻 I can’t remember if I said in the other thread we’re chatting on, but apparently drinking green tea and a lot of water helps get your HCG back down faster. My friend who had a molar pregnancy did that religiously, as she was against the clock to get it to below 5 in a certain time frame in order to try again at the earliest possible date, and hers went back down really fast. Bless her she came round after my miscarriage with a box of green tea, so I did the same and I reckon mine dropped completely within a week, or just over, based on when the last (and earliest) pregnancy symptom went. So I’d definitely recommend green tea and water to help speed things along 🙂

kkr168 · 07/01/2020 11:30

@Avocuddles going by my last period I was 5w6d when I 1st started bleeding on the 31st Dec, I passed what I assume was the sac on the 1st, I stopped bleeding a couple of days ago now.
@TerribleImagination I tried green tea years ago & wasn't keen at all, but I will give it another go

TerribleImagination · 07/01/2020 11:46

@kkr168 Try the flavoured ones! I can’t stand it on its own, but the apple and pear one is actually alright 😃

GoldenBauble · 07/01/2020 12:27

@kkr168 try not to worry about the cyst. I was also told I had one on my ovary when I had a MMC recently. I was told they expect to see them in all pregnant women as it's where the ovary released the egg and the shell (cyst) remains to sustain the pregnancy until the placenta takes over. I was told mine was almost 5cm but not to worry unless I felt any pain as it should just disappear on its own. They've not even offered me any follow up as they didn't feel it was necessary so hopefully your follow up scan will give you complete peace of mind Smile

SunStruck · 07/01/2020 12:39

@sunshinecrocodile I'm so sorry to hear, it's always difficult to hear about other people's pregnancies that are so smooth compared to your own 😟 have you had tests if you've had 4 miscarriages? What's your age if you don't mind me asking? I've had 2 and I'm 36, so naturally I'm quite worried! Don't have kids either so I hope one sticks soon!

@avocuddles fingers crossed you ovulated! Did you dtd around then? I ovulated on day 14 actually which is unheard of 😂 I've just been for a scan, and both follicles ovulated so I'm happy! 2ww now so will try to take it easy.

@bunnythebluewhale oh that sucks, hopefully it will come soon :(

BunnytheBlueWhale · 07/01/2020 12:57

So sorry you find yourself here @Ldawg

AF is here @SunStruck ☁️ ☁️ ☁️ ⛅️ ☀️

Russkispy · 07/01/2020 15:07

Thank you ladies, I let you know how it goes.

@LASandOtto tentative congratulations 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Welcome newbies and sorry you found yourselves here but this is a very nice bunch of ladies who support each other through and through.

LASandOtto · 07/01/2020 16:02

@Russkispy thank you!

@kkr168 @Ldawg really sorry to hear about your losses ladies! 😪

@SunStruck sorry about my misunderstanding! 😂😬 Supplements I take: Natalis Pre which is a German Multi Vit for Conception and Early Pregnancy with 800mg Folic Acid. I was also taking 300mg Ubiquinol daily. My DH takes Wellman Conception, and these: futureyouhealth.com/knowledge-centre/lactolycopene-lycopene-fertility.

I'm usually a very healthy eater (fruit and veg minimum 6 portions daily if not more) but in the run up to Xmas I ate whatever I wanted.

Hope this helps x

tmc14 · 07/01/2020 20:40

Very gentle congratulations @LASandOtto keeping everything crossed for you

Sorry you find yourselves here @kkr168 @Ldawg I miscarried in October and have found this board such a lifeline.

I found out about another pregnancy today, I’m happy for them as I know they struggled but still... I just really want AF to arrive. I’m CD28, but couldn’t tell if I ovulated this month 🤷🏻‍♀️ No idea what went on with my cycle so just hoping AF turns up by the end of the week and I can move onto the next cycle and hopefully actually dtd at the right time! (Or at all... 😏) DH & I have agreed to not drink during the week so hoping that helps a bit.

Hope everyone is doing ok this evening x

Hi @shanine I’m so sorry about your CP.
I can only speak for myself... I’ve been pregnant twice, once resulted in my little boy, one ended in miscarriage at 10w4d. Both times DH & I dtd only one during my fertile time, both times on the day of a positive opk. In total, we’ve been ttc for 11 months, and only had sex during the fertile time about 5 of those times. 2 we got lucky. So from my experience frequency hasn’t mattered that much, we’ve been incredibly lucky. General advice is every other day I think? In reality, if you’re happy and able to have loads of sex, I think it gives you the best shot, so why wouldn’t you? But if you can’t, don’t stress too much. Not great advice, sorry!

Mumlili8 · 07/01/2020 21:54

Had my appointment with Rmc today, they are going to do a hysteroscopy and look for Asherman's and hopefully fix it. If nothing is there they said there's nothing else the NHS can do for me, so itcouldbegame over for me 😢

Got a very faint positive today, isn't it strange how your so excited for a positive & then soon after hoping a negative would hurry up!!

Annie0425 · 07/01/2020 22:23

Hi ladies,
Can I join please? I am so glad I found this thread! So, sorry to hear about your losses and some difficult TTC journeys. it’s heartbreaking isn’t it? Never really thought TTC will be such a difficult process, both mentally and physically. But glad that all you lovely ladies are keeping strong and have not lost hope.
I turned 38 last year November. We have been ttc#2 since Jan 2019. It took us around 2 years to conceive our son who turned 4 in October. So we expected that #2 might take longer or might not even happen. However we got our BFP in end of October last year and were over the moon. Had a private early scan at 6weeks that showed everything was fine and saw the heartbeat. But sadly had a MMC at around 10 weeks 🙁 and I opted for surgical management which was done on 18th Dec. I am absolutely devastated, the last few weeks have been very difficult. I have still not emotionally recovered completely but trying to stay positive and hoping to start TTC again soon. I’ll probably wait for 1 period before trying. Got BFN last week, so hopefully period will come in the next few weeks. I know TTC now will be very stressful and I’ll be a nervous wreck if I get a BFP 😬. So I am looking for a support group and this seemed liked the right place. hopefully will join you ladies in the TTC journey soon. Wishing a year of BFPs and healthy pregnancies to everyone.. xx

Annie0425 · 07/01/2020 22:40

@Mumlili8 so sorry about your difficult journey so far. Hopefully if it is Asherman’s, you’ll start treatment soon. If not, may be think about private fertility treatment? I know how stressful it can be, but just want to say please don’t lose hope. You still have time. Just heard one of my friend’s sister gave birth to her 1st son at 44. She has had many MCs and failed IVFs and this one was natural.. so please keep strong and don’t give up xx

Mumlili8 · 07/01/2020 23:14

@Annie0425 welcome and I too am sorry things aren't going as planned for you. Yes my DH says this too, but I'm so angry that my body is letting me and my babies down. It's very hard after so many mc's to have a positive attitude. It doesn't help that I usually ovulate cd10 or cd11 and I'm no on cd10 and opks are stark white. Feeling very down and hopeless today. I hope my appointment comes through quickly, the wait is going to drive me insane.

OP posts:
SunStruck · 08/01/2020 01:57

@LASandOtto thanks for that! Yes I'm also taking ubiquinol, hopefully it helps!

@bunnythebluewhale 🥳🥳🥳🥳 eat something nice tonight 😄

Avocuddles · 08/01/2020 07:44

@shanine I'm under the fertility clinic and have been told time and time again that having sex too frequently isn't a good idea. They advise every two to three days all the way through the cycle - more often than that means that each ejaculation will be of a lower volume as it doesn't give the man's body enough time to fully 'recover' - then maybe once daily for a couple of days if you get a positive opk. Interestingly you are more likely to conceive from sex 2-3 days prior to ovulation than on the day of ovulation itself! If you google 'SMEP' that protocol is pretty much in line with what my consultants have all recommended.

@tmc14 hope you're ok. It's always painful finding out about a pregnancy. I've learned to let myself have a private cry about it and then o usually feel a bit better.

@Mumlili8 do you know roughly how long you'll have to wait for the tests? Have you looked into the possibility of a referral to the national miscarriage clinic, there may be trials there that you could access?

@Annie0425 so sorry to hear your story. I've had two MCs at c8 weeks (no children) so understand how sad and traumatic the experience is. This is a great supportive board and hopefully if you have any questions or concerns then someone here will be able to help.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 08/01/2020 08:25

I’m still hopeful for you @Mumlili8 There are no guarantees in life for any of us but you certainly shouldn’t give up yet and I really hope you can get treatment that get you where you want to be

kkr168 · 08/01/2020 09:31

@TerribleImagination I didn't need the green tea got my negative this morning, 1 week after MC, were going to TTC straight away. Got my 2nd lot of bloods today, so will have the result from that this evening.
I forgot to take my ovulation test at the same time, although assume it would be negative at the moment anyway!!

TerribleImagination · 08/01/2020 10:15

@Kkr168 Aw that’s good news about the negative test. Crossing everything for you for TTC this month! I’m in the TWW now after what I think was my fertile week (I didn’t use OPK’s this month).
