TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 33- huddle up and bring on the BFP's

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to get and give support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy and baby. Pregnancy and child loss is the most awful thing anyone can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

Hi everyone. Hope you're all ok.

So had my fertility clinic appointment this morning and as I had hoped the consultant said it's time to go down the ovulation stimulation route. I've been prescribed letrozole, along with progesterone to bring on a period, though won't be using either until the new year. Most of my test results have come back completely clear but the fact that I don't regularly ovulate does indicate polycystic ovaries, and my vitamin d levels are on the low side so I've got a GP appointment next week to request high dose vitamin d along with high dose folic acid. Also been told that losing some weight would be helpful so come Jan 1st it's going to be 100% healthy eating and teetotal lifestyle for me....

My initial ovulation stimulation appointment with the nurse is on Jan 6th, I'm assuming that after that I'll get started on the meds if it's the right time in my cycle (who knows if I'll have had a period by then given it's now CD57!!!). As I have this lined up DH and I will take another break from TTC until the appointment comes round - probably well timed as we'd be struggling to DTD whilst visiting assorted family members!
Once I'm on the meds there will be various scans and checks to see if I'm ovulating successfully so fingers crossed!

I'm not naive enough to believe that this will bring us a baby, but at least it will give us more of a chance of conceiving. The consultant showed me a chart which showed that based on my various risk factors the chance of us bringing home a live baby (if I fall pregnant) is c60%. Not the best of odds, but still in our favour.

@VenusStarr I had a similar experience in that it's taken numerous sets of tests which should have all happened at once to get to this point!

VenusStarr · 12/12/2019 15:18

😔 Thanks @Avocuddles it's so frustrating. At least it's been picked up now and not when I go back at the end of February. As if this isn't hard enough though. I was tempted to book in with my GP and get referred to the Coventry clinic but I'm trying to be patient and it's not going to give me what I want.

That's brilliant news about you having a plan 🤞 and good that you're taking the pressure off now but have things planned for January. I know there's no guarantees with anything but for me the process of doing something is what helps me. But you know, 60% chance isn't bad (especially if you compare to other interventions like iui or ivf), I know that probably doesn't help but those are are in your favour 🙏 Do you need a scan or bloods to confirm pcos or is that not needed?

MissSparkles81 · 12/12/2019 22:32

Thanks @VenusStarr xx

ReeRi · 13/12/2019 11:24

Oh how frustrating @VenusStarr

I hope you get some answers @Avocuddles 60% is in your favour. I’m sure no one’s chances of having a healthy baby are 100%! Have you had a scan for PCOS? I had an internal scan to test for it years ago and it was clear but they were satisfied with that. Maybe they can look for that at the same time they scan for ov

Hope everyone else is ok x

Avocuddles · 13/12/2019 17:26

@ReeRi my scans were deemed normal but I'm being treated as if I did have PCOS as my symptoms are indicative of the condition. How are you feeling this week?

@VenusStarr the wait is frustrating isn't it! Do you know what the next steps are likely to be come February?

@MissSparkles81 how are you today, are you still having the cramps?

Mumlili8 · 13/12/2019 17:56

Hello ladies I'm after advice about opks.

Trying to figure out if I got my positive on cd9 and its a long surge and if so should I have ovulated yesterday or was it cd10 and I'm ovulating today. I praying it is today as that might just mean we have a very slim chance as DH is back home at 6am tomorrow, might be able to dtd if he's not too tired.

Oh I see @Avocuddles I’m ok thanks, just tired and pleased it’s the weekend!

VenusStarr · 13/12/2019 18:35

@Mumlili8 I think the positive is day 10 🤞 looks like the timing will be spot on.

@Avocuddles I'm just sure about any plans yet. I'm a bit fed up, af arrived today unexpectedly (wasn't due until Tuesday), making this cycle 21 days 😑 really hoping my blood forms come in the post tomorrow so I can get those sorted. I'm scared for us to ttc without having the blood test results back.

Hope everyone is OK xx

Mumlili8 · 15/12/2019 15:42

Well think we missed it 😔 got a temp spike yesterday morning, we dtd anyway but pretty sure it was too late.
How are you lovely ladies doing today?

Avocuddles · 15/12/2019 16:26

Hi all! I'm ok thanks. Had some friends round today for a Christmas get together, we had mulled wine and a mountain of party food, five adults, a two year old, a ten week old and a dog so it was a lively house!

@Mumlili8 have you DTD in the past couple of days? Thought it might be worth sharing with you the image below which is a screenshot from the leaflet I've been given re my forthcoming ovulation induction. This shows that the four days pre ovulation all stand a really decent chance so fingers crossed you might have had at least one shot within the window?

Avocuddles · 15/12/2019 16:28

@VenusStarr I hope your forms are on the way and you have some answers soon!

Mumlili8 · 15/12/2019 16:40

@Avocuddles hi hun thanks for that. We dtd Tues morning so I'm not at all hopeful. Maybe the new year will be better

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 17:28

Hope you’re ok @VenusStarr

@mumlili8 you never know! Fingers crossed 🤞

Sounds like a nice afternoon @Avocuddles

I’ve been home. Some friends popped on with Christmas cards, which was nice, and now just getting ready to go to my parents for dinner

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend

Avocuddles · 15/12/2019 17:49

@Mumlili8 that doesn't mean you're out - I believe most women see a temp spike the day after ovulation so if you ovulated on Thursday then Tuesday would actually be the optimum day per the chart.... fingers are crossed for you, but if this isn't your month then I'm hoping that January is the month that brings this board lots of BFPs xxx

Avocuddles · 15/12/2019 17:53

@Mumlili8 I mean Friday (losing track of the day of the week!(

Thank you @Avocuddles and @ReeRi my forms came!! So off to get them done tomorrow first thing. I definitely didn't have the lupus test in October, so 🤞

@Mumlili8 hope you caught your ovulation. Sad to say my keyring broke today 😔 kinda hoping that it means the same as the bracelet breaking 🤞

We've put up our tree, starting to feel abit festive. Still want to shut ourselves away and not be social. Went out with friends last night for a curry which was nice but tiring.

Hope you're all OK xxx

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 19:07

Oh well that’s progress @VenusStarr

I get not wanting to be festive but also have enjoyed Christmas shopping and the like

I’m so sorry @shanine I lost my daughter at 39+1 this year and then had a chemical pregnancy six months later. It’s so rubbish. I don’t know if grief is stopping us getting pregnant as I know lots of people get pregnant quickly after loss but I think it just takes different amounts of time for different people and sometimes stress can impact even if indirectly, eg there were times when we just haven’t felt like dtd or when we’ve argued due to all the stress and that is not conducive to baby making! Anyway I hope you find some comfort in this thread. It really is a lovely bunch of women

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 19:14

Yeah that’s all we can do @shanine The way I try to look at it is every cycle is a chance and it could happen anytime. We will always be missing our daughters and we definitely got the short straws but I believe there is so much joy to be had in life so let’s hope 2020 brings some of that for us

@VenusStarr oh I'm so sorry it broke. I can send you another one.
@Avocuddles and @ReeRi hope I still in with a chance.
@shanine hello and welcome, so very sorry for your losses. Hope this thread brings you support and comfort at such a awful time. Feel free to ask questions and if one of us knows the answer we will do are best to support you.

@shanine I'm so sorry about both your losses. Having to say goodbye to one, then getting your hopes up again to have it ripped from you. I'm sure in time you will have a healthy baby, but for the time being, take some time to look after you. You've been through so much

Avocuddles · 16/12/2019 17:38

@shanine sorry to hear about your losses. I can't imagine how hard the past six months have been for you. We are all great listeners so feel free to talk about your experiences and your precious daughter as well as asking any questions or just having a rant at the world when you feel like it!

@VenusStarr glad you're starting to feel a bit festive! It's going to be a tough Christmas for all of us but as @shanine said, hopefully 2020 will be a better year for us all no matter what happens with our TTC journey.

So today my period has finally arrived!!!! It's been a LONG 60 day cycle with no ovulation but glad AF turned up eventually. We'll be avoiding TTC over the next few weeks as my next fertility clinic appointment is in 3 weeks and I'll then hopefully be able to start monitored ovulation induction. I would love to conceive (and stay pregnant) within the first three months of 2020 but will continue to take each day as it comes. Booked a spa day for the day before my next fertility appointment in the hope that I might have to keep away from the saunas, jacuzzis and full massages for the majority of 2020!

Sunflower1608 · 16/12/2019 19:19

@Avocuddles waiting game sucks. Glad your AF has arrived. So it's finally the beginning of a journey where you may get explanations and help. Enjoy Xmas and your spa day!
