@Cleozeta I was of the view it must be ok as clinic prescribed it and apparently all aspirin says don’t take in pregnancy but pharmacist said you can as long as it’s prescribed. I had real problems getting some when I ran out as they saw I was pregnant and pharmacist wouldn’t sell it to me over the counter so I went to clinic and got 10 boxes! Apparently I have to take it to 34 weeks.

rubyroot · 23/10/2019 12:05

No mention of aspirin to me at all-I'm 41. Is it an area based thing?

Cleozeta · 23/10/2019 12:05

Thanks reality, good to know I'm taking the right stuff! Could get interesting when I need more then haha

Cleozeta · 23/10/2019 12:07

Ruby - I was told it was age based, due to raised risk of pre eclempsia

Ah well, my blood pressure is always low and lower during last pregnancy. I don't think my risk will suddenly go up because I'm 41 and not 39. 🤞

rubyroot · 23/10/2019 12:27

Is that all its for... Risk of pre eclampsia?

Realitysucks · 23/10/2019 12:33

@rubyroot I think it’s also due to if you taking additional progesterone by injection as it’s to prevent blood clots.

Catconfusion · 23/10/2019 14:19

@rubyroot I was put in 75mg of aspirin at 4 weeks by the GP due to being 40 and the increased risk of blood clots. My blood pressure is low and no other known risk factors so purely age related. My midwife also checked I was on aspirin. At my 12 week appointment the consultant doubled the dose to 150mg a day before bed as thrombosis often occurs at night. X

Hello ladies! Been hoping I'd come across a 40+ TTC thread I'd love to join in the chat. Here are my stats!

43, 3 dc with ex husband 18, 12, 11
Been with my new partner (26) for 18 months TTC for 2 months fell straight away but MMC at 7 weeks currently at CD15 and hoping to fall straight away again.

Using Clearblue digital ovulation tests for the first time and could do with some help as have been having smiley flashing faces for 5 days but no static face yet. Lines look pretty dark to me. Would you recommend the digital kits or the cheap ones?

Over 40 TTC - lots of baby dust for us...4!
CritterTamer · 23/10/2019 16:25

@mystie - the digital tests are very good in my experience. 5 days flashing smiley is perfectly normal - you'll probably get your static in the next day or two.
Regarding aspirin, as others have said, I was put on it at 12 weeks and told to take it for the rest of my pregnancy due to the increased risk of blood clots over 40. I also have low BP and no other risk factors. My consultant has said that if I get pregnant again I will still be put back on it even though it contributed to the massive bleed I had when one of my placentas abrupted - that's how worried they are about blood clots in 40+ pregnancies 😲
Reality - don't worry too much about weight gain - I lost weight during my first trimester (due to ohss and severe sickness), but during weeks 20-28 I put on 10kg and got a telling off from the consultant. After the twins were born all of it plus more fell off and I'm now lighter than I have been in years - breastfeeding works wonders lol

Mystie · 23/10/2019 16:32

@CritterTamer thanks for your comment I'll try and be patient for the next few days!

Interesting about aspirin, I have had two thrombophlebitis in the last two years caused by aggravated varicose vein in my right leg, do you think I will be more at risk for clotting?

CritterTamer · 23/10/2019 16:39

@mystie - I really don't know, but if I were you I would ask your GP immediately if you get a BFP and they'll almost certainly put you on aspirin

Hopefully123 · 23/10/2019 16:49

Hi ladies..I am 42 year old.Just been told I have low amh and a high fsh. Apparently she said looks like you have gone through the change which I feel is impossible as I don't have symptoms at all. I have not had a period since January this year. Any advice please x

CritterTamer · 23/10/2019 19:19

@hopefully123 sorry to hear you've been told this. What were your AMH and FSH results if you don't mind saying?

Hopefully123 · 23/10/2019 20:46

Hi

AMH 0.02.
FSH in April 2019 was 7.0. And now in OCT 2019 it has shot up to 109.8

Alarica · 23/10/2019 21:38

Hi @Realitysucks Are you booked in for a GTT (glucose tolerance test)? I think gestational diabetes can cause weight gain even when you're eating healthily so it might be worth mentioning to your midwife. Hope you're feeling well otherwise xx

CritterTamer · 24/10/2019 00:02

@hopefully123 I think an FSH above 60 indicates post menopause, and the very low amh and lack of periods would back that up, however its such a dramatic change in 6 months that if it was me i would be asking for a repeat test and an antral follicle count ultrasound scan just to be sure. If those results are correct you'll probably be told to consider donor egg IVF if you want to conceive. Have you been trying for long?

Chatbash72 · 24/10/2019 08:59

@Realitysucks if you are eating healthy then it could just be your body putting on weight during pregnancy... which if you were slimmer you wouldn't be worried about but are just conscious of it... but ask midwife if you have concerns..
goodness @tiggerifficmummy day 38! Have you tested again?
@Mystie I didn't use ov strips but as you get older the eggs pop unpredictability, enjoy getting busy to be on the safe side 😘 and welcome
@Hopefully123 welcome I do t know much about levels but always worth a second test..
I'm on day 35 boobs hurt and totally constipated!!! It's ridiculous 🤦‍♀️

tiggerifficmummy · 24/10/2019 09:56

Hi @Chatbash72 yes just tested again This morning (cd39) and yet another bfn 😭 I feel sick, dizzy, bloated, windy and sore boobs and I'm never late - I'm soooooo confused! How about you? Have you tested again yet?

Chatbash72 · 24/10/2019 10:31

@tiggerifficmummy hang in there... I'm not testing yet... have made it to 37 days with a + test but then had a miscarriage and 34 days is longest cycle after that but no +
I'm just going to try and ride it out... still bunged up 🤣🤣

tiggerifficmummy · 24/10/2019 10:32

Update- I've just made myself a doc apt for tomorrow morning, I just hope they're helpful! If I go in there and get dismissed and told to wait and see I may scream lol

tiggerifficmummy · 24/10/2019 10:33

@Chatbash72 well done you! I've been testing every other day that's about as much will power as I can manage 😂

Mystie · 24/10/2019 14:32

@Chatbash72 I've decided to ditch the opks for this month and go for regular BD instead, my boyfriend will be so happy 🤣

Congratulations on holding out testing, I'm feeling really hopeful for you!!! I think I'd try and do exactly the same, I'd much rather see af than a bfn

rubyroot · 24/10/2019 15:01

@Mystie I conceived twice recently without the opks and sex every day (around the right week) instead. First time ended in chemical and then straight after cont'd the sex whilst I waited for the cheap one steps to arrive and got pregnant again! Think it's the best way. Now I have loads of ovulation tests, but they doubled up as pregnancy tests when I needed to test. 😂
