@hmmm123 so sorry to read your sad news. We’re here for you when you’re ready.

Welcome all newbies!

@Hobbes39 not long to go now! Good luck with everything.

Afm day 27 or something and no sign of ovulation again. I’m so drained now of these long cycles. Hey ho, can’t do much else than I have done/am doing so got to accept it. Will stick around here of course but can’t ttc without an egg can I?!

Samosaurus · 29/08/2019 21:30

Hey everyone, hope you are as doing as well as can be, especially @hmmm123 @Russkispyand anyone else who has had a recent loss x

I’m feeling a bit pessimistic this eve - is there anyone on this thread or the previous ones who has managed to have a baby over 40 without any medical interventions?

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 21:37

@Samosaurus what do you mean by medical interventions?

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 21:41

By that do you mean c section? If so quite a few of the people I know, but not all who have had babies 40/41 ended up with c sections.

Samosaurus · 29/08/2019 21:54

Hi @rubyroot I meant using donor eggs, IVF etc - not that I think there is anything wrong with any of that, its just we would never be able to afford to go down those paths, so I was wondering if anyone has (or knew of anyone else) who had had ttc and had a successful pregnancy naturally over 40. I had a c-section myself aged 39 btw :)

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 21:58

Yes all the 40/41 year olds that I know that got pregnant without ivf. The only person I know who had to resort to IVF was 30 when she had it

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 21:59

And I'm hoping I'll be joining that list. Currently ten weeks and 4 days and soon to be 41. Awaiting nipt results and very nervous

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 22:00

I also had c section 39. SNAP

Samosaurus · 29/08/2019 22:05

@rubyroot oh congrats that's brilliant :) How long until you get your results?
I turned 42 last month and since then have been feeling like it's too late for me, need to snap out of that mindset! x

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 22:08

My friends aunt had a baby at 43 and that was a few years ago now. Mines not been an easy journey to get to where I am, and I don't know how it will turn out, my scan was very positive but I'm so nervous about the results as baby had fluid all round it at 12 week scan and I I had t21 diagnosis this time last year which ended in termination at 13. 5 weeks. But I know many people have easier journeys and there's no reason why you can't be one.

coconuttymummy · 29/08/2019 22:09

@Alarica I haven’t noticed any symptoms from taking the Vitex, not negative ones, anyhow.

I take 4-5g of Myo-Inositol a day (2 very heaped scoops, 3x a day). Xx

Zigzag11 · 29/08/2019 22:10

@hmmm123, I'm very sorry to hear your news, please look after yourself.

@Samosaurus, my own auntie had her second child at 42 many years ago naturally. She was a heavy smoker may I add.
The mind boggles really, when most of us lead healthy lifestyles, take supplements etc. in order to trying to conceive and yet it's not happening.

Afm, going to first appointment with the fertility clinic tomorrow and I'm a bit apprehensive really. It will be a long consultation and an ultrasound scan. I felt I had no other choice really after a year of TTC naturally and a MMC exactly a year ago.

Good luck to everyone else trying.

Samosaurus · 29/08/2019 22:21

@rubyroot I had a mmc at 9 weeks in July which tests showed had T21. I'm sorry you had to go through a tfmr, I am sending you lots of good vibes for your upcoming results!
@Zigzag11 Yes I know what you mean, the mind boggles indeed! I am taking so may supplements that I am rattling, really hope they make a difference. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow, let us know how it goes :)

turquoiseturtle · 29/08/2019 22:31

@Samosaurus - Yes - or yes so far... Conceived naturally one month before my 42nd birthday. I’ve just had my 20 week scan and all seems fine. I was very pessimistic at the start and didn’t think it would go anywhere due to my age. I’m aware I’ve been very lucky, but it can happen.

The only thing I’d class as medical intervention was treatment for an underactive thyroid. In general doctors/midwives haven’t seemed at all bothered about my age either.

Wishing you all good luck! xxx

turquoiseturtle · 29/08/2019 22:35

@rubyroot good luck with the NIPT results, such a nervewracking time! fingers crossed for you!

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 22:39

Sorry to hear that Samosaurus tho I believe many untested miscarriages are probably chromosomal so many people will have miscarriages and be unaware of chromosomal issues. The consultant at the fetal medicine unit where I had my follow up scan and cvs was fantastic. At that point I was feeling past it, that I had decrepid eggs and quite frankly at that moment in time I couldn't envisage allowing a penis near me again. She knew my age and her parting shot was I really hope you don't stop trying. I guess it gave me hope that an expert believed I should try and when I was ready and as someone said 'the hope outweighs the fear' I tried again. Got pregnant second cycle of trying, had chemical and then four weeks I was pregnant again. So I'm really really hoping this is my rainbow. There's still some women on this thread who pop by that are pregnant and there's also women on here who have been told they can get pregnant but they have to accept it may be difficult journey. And that journey I guess is different for all of us. But it's definitely possible and I don't think IVF necessarily increases your chances.

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 22:40

Awww thank you @turquoiseturtle

rubyroot · 29/08/2019 22:43

Excellent @turquoiseturtle you must be one if the ladies that I was referring to in my last comment. Its always lovely to hear the positive stories. What I really love about this thread is everyone on here is really routing for each other, despite having suffered losses or suffering losses and going through difficult times themselves.

Alarica · 30/08/2019 07:28

Thanks @coconuttymummy
I had a down day yesterday @Samosaurus , it really hit me that I'll be 44 in January and my DD will be 3. I feel like I'm deluding myself taking these supplements and yet beating myself up for not taking them earlier.
Thanks for the positivity @rubyroot , keeping everything crossed for your NIPT results, such a nerve wracking time so sending lots of virtual hugs x

Chatbash72 · 30/08/2019 07:51

Goodness, been away for work for few day and you ladies have been very busy with messages.. I will try to keep up..
Welcome @beckymum a fellow 46 lady, so sorry for your loss.. I don't feel 46 I also have 5. 3 from a very shite marriage (22,20,18) and 2 from my lovely hubby and we lost a little one at 9 weeks about 3/4 years ago.. we have been trying since then not always consistently. But we are just not using contraception and dtd as and when we feel like it. Trying to keep it relaxed and stress free..
@coconuttymummy welcome I use coenzyme q10 400mg per day, pregnacare vits. Omega 3,6,9. Vit d spray and am thinking for next cycle adding baby aspirin.
@Inks42 Welcome you will find very sympathetic ears here..

@SparrowSG good luck with this next part of the journey.
@Tania41 welcome and sorry for your loss xxx
@turquoiseturtle ooh lovely hope heat isn't too much for you and @Hobbes39
atm af is over and we are at it again, although just finished running a conference for 200 peps. My little ones were staying with my folks which has been the first time ever for them ( my folks not too hands on with my guys 😞) but all seemed ok and I was sleeping at my folks and hubs in hotel.. however did get up early so as not to waking the small ones and zip over to join him.. hotel room not wasted.. so although this journey isn't so far proving fruitful we still are enjoying the fun parts of the journey..
Hope I'm caught up and not missed anyone out.. sending big hugs and massive amounts of baby dust to all you wonderful, amazing and inspirational ladies 💕💕💕💕💕

beckymum · 30/08/2019 08:05

Hallo @Chatbash72 good to have someone else my age ! With five already! Like you my husband and I are trying to keep the TTC low key now rather than dwell on it too much (although of course I do - I just try not to show it 😂)

@Samosaurus I had babies naturally aged 41 and 44(a month before I turned 45). I had three MC around 8 -9 weeks between the two of them, but my youngest, who is about to be one, is perfect. So you have to be resilient, but it can happen! I kept saying to the drs when I had him "be careful, I'm so old" but my age seemed to raise no comment or concern whatsoever (apart from that they don't let you go past 40 weeks once you're over 40. But I needed a CS anyway due to previous gynae op).

Good luck everyone xxx

coconuttymummy · 30/08/2019 08:10

Help! What is going on with my chart? I got my OPK+ on CD18. I ovulated and had an ovulation dip on CD19. My BBT temps rose significantly for 2 days and today, 3DPO, I had another massive BBT dip.

I’m super worried that I have a Luteal Phase Defect and not producing enough Progesterone in the LP.

I’m already taking Vitex, Ubiquinol, Myo-Inositol, Magnesium, Zinc, Chromium, Vit C, Vit D3, B-50 Complex, pre-conception vit, Baby Aspirin and loads of Nettle Tea (I also drank Raspberry Leaf & Red Clover Teas up to Ov).

Is there anything else I can do to help raise my Progesterone in the Luteal Phase?

I’m 38 yrs old and I’ve had a big temperature drop 3DPO (significant ovulation BBT dip on CD19 followed by 2 high BBT readings on 1DPO & 2DPO). I’m really concerned about this massive temperature drop only 3DPO - it’s way too early for implantation, so the only explanation I can think of is that I have a LP Defect/not producing enough Progesterone.

This is only Cycle #2, so I can’t go to the GP for tests for another 3 cycles.

Are there any herbs or supplements I can add to my stack that MAY help my body produce more Progesterone in the LP? Xxx

Over 40 TTC - lots of baby dust for us...4!
Inks42 · 30/08/2019 08:24

@Samosaurus

My mum had my sister when she was 43 and me when she was 45, so I always keep that as my mantra: she was able to, so I will be able to

Inks42 · 30/08/2019 08:24

All naturally

Alarica · 30/08/2019 09:59

Thanks for the positive stories @Inks42 and @beckymum
