Sperm Meets Egg (hopefully)

Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

@AllHopeAndNoResults I think I’ve literally googled every symptom of every day throughout my cycles lol including when I had an achy arm a few days before af. This journey literally sends you crazy 🤣. Poor DP.

So.... should I tell DP we are now doing smep and explain the plan. Or try and leave a little bit of curiosity in there 🤔

It’s uo to you and how your DP is. I told mine and thankfully he is the type to just roll with it. This cycle it was a struggle but we managed to laugh through it but I can imagine many cycles of this and it won’t be so laughable. I sort of wish I didn’t tell him but her would know something was up if I kept pestering for sex every other day and then 3 days in a row he would be like 😲🤔
😂😂 would dp be on board? I think it’s always better to be honest though. The universe gives out positives if you do everything in the right way

@AllHopeAndNoResults I'm just going to take each day as it comes. Only 2 days til I know hopefully! 🤞 ohhhh tiny babies, I need one.

@Carley321 I wouldn't tell him if you're sure that he will still go along with it. A lot of DP's seem to get a bit of stage fright 😄

@Makingawish I was tempted to steal the baby but weighing up kidnapping a newborn and having a sentence in prison....it was a close one but I decided against it.

GP said there is no sign of BV or any infection. All my swabs from the other day came back as normal too, she said the odour could literally be the fact we are now using a lube (preseed) and mixing with our secretions bluergh! She did say ‘well if you are trying to conceive then it’s not ideal to wipe your partners sperm away) I don’t know why that made me laugh....she was really stuck up as well (not my usual GP) so I don’t think she appreciated my sniggering 🤦🏻‍♀️

@AllHopeAndNoResults it's good to know that there's no infection but what she's basically saying is the odour is your DP sperm?! 🤣🤣🤣

@Makingawish basically 😂😂 but surely if he had an infection so would I? And he has been tested because of the SA needed. Oh I don’t know. Well we aren’t dtd till tomorrow now so I’ll find out. Im sure fishy sperm isn’t normal!! But then with all the mix up it could be 🤷🏻‍♀️ She said it could be a manner of things but as I say no infection so I’m not so worried now

@Carley321 I gave dh a choice - dtd every other day throughout (😳 his face) or smep and he chose smep. I think because we'd agreed it in advance, we both knew we had to be on board and do it, if that makes sense.

My cycles were 25 days before the miscarriage but they were anything from 27 to 23 days. This cycle would've been 22 because I ovulated so early. Have you ever temped? It's a pain but good to get a baseline of what's going on. We started dtd from cd5 every other day.

I forced myself to test again last night (pic attached). Need to try to relax a bit. Dh said, why does it look different to the last test (this was a clearblue, the others were first response) - honestly, to live in a man's head, even though we've been ttc a long time this kind of stuff just isn't on his radar!

@AllHopeAndNoResults are you having cd21 bloods today? Is that to check for progesterone / ovulation? I think it might be a bit early, didn't you only recently get your peak opk? Ideally this needs to be done 7 days after ovulation / 7 days before af. Don't be disheartened if your progesterone is low as I think it's the wrong day. If I've got the wrong end of the stick, please ignore me!!

Thanks ladies. Yes he is completely on board he is more obsessed than me with a baby. So he would be absolutely on board. But I know it will just end up being so robotic and draining like it has in the past ... but I suppose I’m not really the type to come on to him either so if he doesn’t take my subtle little hints i’ll Be buggered 🤣. 🤔 maybe I should tell him!

Positive Gp appointment @Hope. What does she mean wiping DP sperm away? 🙈😂 well if you can’t laugh about it you will go mental so she should get used to that lol.

Yes I think your right. I’m going to tell him. He can prepare himself instead of wondering what on earth is happening every other day 🤣. Mind you I think he’s used to my moody, erratic and crazy ways lately anyway.

So you dtd every other day, did you do the 3 consecutive days after the bfp opk?

I don’t temp because my sleep pattern isn’t really great. I know I’d be awful with it too. Like completely obsessive!

Yes day 21 I think it’s just routine because last time I had day 28 and nothing was showing so I guess they just do the next obvious date. It would be interesting to see because I know it won’t ahow because as you say I only got my peak the other day. So saying that actually should I be carrying on with SMEP? Or am I in line with it? Doing the one for luck tomorrow. You’re the expert now you know 😂

@Carley321 😂 I wasn’t actually sure. I took it as, after sex you are meant to pee and clean I think she meant that 🤷🏻‍♀️ either way I still do that because surely the sperm will be on its way anyway. If not then I’m defo our this month and wasted a whole load of preseed too 😂

@VenusStarr congratulations on your bfp how exciting ! I know how scary it is after suffering miscarriage I spent a fortune and kept testing to see the line get darker then I kid you not it got lighter and I panicked then I read that your hcg gets so high the tests can't cope and it was true I then googled like made and decided to try a diluted wee test and it was really dark again - honestly the stress we put ourselves through! If you can refrain from testing any more I would try so as not to get yourself in a tizz like I did lol ! I think you said they are giving you a 6 week scan which is great and will put your mind at rest - hope it comes around soon!! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy

@AllHopeAndNoResults good luck with your tests today I hope it gives you some answers - are you temping? My dh should be getting his sperm results today eeek! I know we already have a child but things can change so I got him to have one through gp bless him!! Be interesting to hear results anyway I guess - and thought why not you have to take what you can from nhs and this came through really quick and he managed to sneak an appointment in within a month which I was impressed with so we shall see ....

@RachRainbow I was temping but I gave up it’s all a lot of hard work and can easily be swayed if you don’t get it right.
We have a child too but it’s always good to get checked out anything can change. Good luck with the results let us know how it goes 🤞

@AllHopeAndNoResults it is a lot of work your right I wish I could afford the Ava I just think is it really expensive and I'm not sure it will tell me much more than opks and temps I am also having acupuncture again which is also expensive - it's 45 a go more for first consultation but I do like it and I'm sure it helps

@AllHopeAndNoResults (yay your name appeared!) That's reassuring swabs came back neg / doesn't sound like an infection. I hope it stays away.

@Carley321 and @RachRainbow what CD are you going to start smep? I have longer cycles so last cycle DTD cd10, cd13 and then every other day from cd16. I don't think I told my OH we were doing smep (he wouldn't know what that is), but he knows I'll give him a heads up when DTD is required. We're both organised people who like a plan!

Ahhh @VenusStarr that's such a lovely positive! Hopefully you can rest a little bit now. Is your 6 week scan booked in?

@skylar I am trying SMEP this month al previous months I have tried every other day then done opks day of positive and day after and I just think we have stopped too soon perhaps ... my cycles are around 28 days but usually ovulate about day 19 so I think starting day 10 as I know I don't ovulate early? Hopefully 3 in a row and the one for luck might just do it ... what about you? My dh is pretty good he just does it when he's told lol

@RachRainbow they are quite expensive but tinyole seems quite happy with it so it might be worth splashing out.

@RachRainbow no worries. Let me know how you get on with it if you get it. There is ovusense as well which I’m more leaning towards tbh.

I just wanna tell you guys something funny I forgot to say earlier. Well it’s not that funny really....talking to the GP I found myself talking in Mumsnet lingo ‘yes me and dp have been trying for a baby’
‘Monitoring Cm and using OPKs’ also drop dtd in there at some point I’m sure. I think I spend too much time on the conception board 😂

I'm trying to stay away from other threads (though I don't post in anyway others) because they make my mind spiral!

It’s true there’s always a special case or a worst case scenario and it gets your mind thinking in overdrive.

The other thing that annoys me on other threads right...😂 is when they urge a poster to take a pg test knowing it’s too early to tell and they don’t think how negatively that could affect someone’s mind set seeing a bfn! Really irks me lol
