Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

Again sorry for how long that was!!

@AllHopeAndNoResults I can see the image? Either way seems like you've got everything covered!' Have you still been taking AC? I wasn't sure about it but I think maybe that's why I was late maybe it extended my luteal phase which would be a good thing for me to be honest.

tinyole · 06/08/2019 20:46

@Skyla01 I have a short luteal phase, shortest was 9 days, longest so far has been 12 days. That's why I started taking agnus cactus and it seems to have lengthened mine. I've read loads though of others who have conceived fine with a short luteal phase

AllHopeAndNoResults · 06/08/2019 20:49

@tinyole how strange I can’t see it? Can anyone else?
Tbh I don’t really know much about luteal phase I’m still learning all this and I’m sure I don’t want something else to add to my worry 😂

I am still taking AC so when AF arrives I’ll know if it’s heloed although I do think it helped me ovulate which is a good thing. Are you still getting the headaches? It’s good it helped to lengthen you though I think that’s why they say it takes up to 3 months to really get in your system and work

OP posts:
Makingawish · 06/08/2019 20:53

@Skyla01 average length luteal phase is 14 because ideally it starts when you ovulate which in an ideal world would be on CD14 so bang in the middle. Any length between 10-16 is considered normal though.

Skyla01 · 06/08/2019 20:55

Ok guys thanks I'll try not to worry about it too much!

RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 20:58

@AllHopeAndNoResults @tinyole @Skyla01 I have a done a fair bit of research on luetal phase and have gone by Zita West's book (she is the main private fertility clinic in London) and she says 10-16 days is a normal luetal phase and that it needs to be at least 10 days for implantation to be completed but that clinicians are divided about the significance of luetal phase so again who knows!! I'm convinced this is our issue though and so mine is at 9 currently (was 7 last month!!) so it's working for me too and I really think AC helps with this and helped me last time - I totally recommend this book by the way it covers everything or the other one I like is 'taking charge of your fertility' I can't remember who it is by but will come up on amazon that one is brilliant also talks all about how to get to know your body and natural signs etc opks and temps are great but your natural signs are the best to go by if you see ewcm the dtd! Xxx I have tried to attach the page about luetal phase in my book but it won't let me boo! X

RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 20:59

@AllHopeAndNoResults @Skyla01 @tinyole sorry when I said 'our' problem I meant mine and dh ! X

AllHopeAndNoResults · 06/08/2019 21:01

Ok so I might be a bit dim here but what exactly is luteal phase and how do I know how long mine is etc? 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 21:05

@AllHopeAndNoResults the follicular phase is the first half of your cycle from the first day of your period to the day of ovulation it's length will vary - luetal phase is second half cycle from ovulation to the next period so if you count days from ov to af that is your luetal phase hope that helps x

tinyole · 06/08/2019 21:07

@RachRainbow that's so great sounds like you've done loads of reading. I actually have 'taking charge of your fertility' it's a great book. I'll give AC another go this month.

tinyole · 06/08/2019 21:08

@AllHopeAndNoResults was about to say what @RachRainbow said. There are no stupid questions here!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 06/08/2019 21:10

@tinyole @RachRainbow
Thanks guys. So if I go by Ovia then my luteal phase this month will be 18 is that too long? Is there an average.
I’m going to have a look at that book can it be downloaded on iPhone?

OP posts:
RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 21:11

As you can't for definite say when you ovulate other than basing on temps or okps it is hard to work out for sure so it's just a guide I wouldn't worry about it too much I am more aware of it having experienced miscarriages so don't want to worry any of you at all I just wanted to say I know that AC has only helped my cycle to regulate and sort out hormones that need to be perfectly balanced throughout your cycle x

AllHopeAndNoResults · 06/08/2019 21:15

So I guess I’ll just see how it goes this month. As much as I’m happy with what ac has done for me this month I am quite disappointed because I’ve heard so many refer to it as a miracle cure I was so convinced I’d fall pregnant this month on it

OP posts:
RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 21:17

@tinyole thanks it is a great book isn't it so informative @AllHopeAndNoResults if you can download it would recommend for sure ! And good luck for this month everyone and I hope you get on well with Angus castus too - funny that the first month I have took it again this month I have had a 28 day cycle again it seems to get me straight back to textbook cycle hopefully a good thing but we shall see ... good luck to you all

RachRainbow · 06/08/2019 21:21

@AllHopeAndNoResults I've seen a few people say that but I guess it was just chance - it's hard not to feel disheartened when new things don't work

AllHopeAndNoResults · 06/08/2019 21:46

@RachRainbow thank you and good luck to you too. We are quite regular posters on this thread so defo keep coming back and keeping us updated!
I hope ac works in some way 🤞

Morning ladies! I finished SMEP day 3 😊 so I’m officially 1dpo (I think) very nearly didn’t complete it, DP was moaning he was tired, I was moaning at him for moaning 😂

I’ve been looking into acupuncture, I think a few have mentioned here, I think I might start that next cycle.

Hope you all are well

OP posts:
Makingawish · 07/08/2019 08:51

@AllHopeAndNoResults your DP doesn't realise how good he's got it with you wanting to DTD all the time 😄 well done for getting it done though!

I have a bit of an icky tummy again this morning. Ugh.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 07/08/2019 09:04

@Makingawish I know right 😂

Have you eaten anything dodgy? Hopefully this is a good sign for you!

I just took an opk just to be sure and it was a very obvious negative. Now I’m a bit meh about it because I’ve read that if you did fall pregnant you would get a positive opk because of the confusion in hormones. I think I just need to chill.

How are you feeling otherwise?

OP posts:
Makingawish · 07/08/2019 09:35

@AllHopeAndNoResults no, not eaten anything dodgy. I'm very careful about what I eat because of IBS but it's not an IBS type ick. Hopefully it passes. Still feel tired and have a bit of a sore throat. Knowing my luck though I'll just be a bit poorly 😄

I read that thing about a positive OPK is a myth because they clearly only test for a specific hormone. Mine have always gone straight to negative after my surge so take it as a good thing 🤣

AllHopeAndNoResults · 07/08/2019 09:55

@Makingawish hopefully it’s all a sign that you conceived! You know your body better than anyone, what are your thoughts?

I know really I shouldn’t listen to everything google says tbh 😂 I’ve got my day 21 bloods today and I’m going to get this awful odour sorted. It’s weird though because it’s only really started again since we’ve been dtd so often. Maybe your tarot reading about being in a 3 way situation was about me 😂😂 I’m happily trying to conceive while DP is cheating! Haha no obviously not but it does make you wonder as a woman naturally I think

OP posts:
Makingawish · 07/08/2019 09:59

@AllHopeAndNoResults part of me thinks me it would make sense but the other part of me thinks get your head out of the clouds!

Hahaha I laughed at the 3 way situation. It's obviously not true but that's why those things are dangerous! She even said on the video like 'sorry to say but even if you think you're not, you definitely are' OMG I wonder if it could mean 3 way as in somebody else knows about your relationship aka us lot on here?! We'd be in a 20 way 🤣

Carley321 · 07/08/2019 10:01

@VenusStarr I can’t imagine the anxiety you must be feeling. But it’s good you have an earlier scan to keep tabs on things. Remind me if you are regular and what day you were trying smep from? (Iv asked you on the other thread but not sure which you are on more).

Yes my first proper month @skyla01 we did it every other last month just around FW. And no not regular. The last 3 cycles have been between 29 -32 days.

Maybe the sickness is a good sign @Makingawish 🤞. These days are slow passing aren’t they lol.

@AllHopeAndNoResults I often have a BFP OPK just before AF too. So I think that maybe a myth too. Mind you my body is most definitely not normal! So you never know lol.

Hello @RachRainbow welcome. Sorry you’ve had such a tough time. This journey puts so much on our mental health and our bodies xx

AllHopeAndNoResults · 07/08/2019 10:07

@Makingawish yes I agree with not having your head in the clouds. I think it’s best to assume that all the symptoms can be explained so then you aren’t too disappointed IF af arrives.

I can’t believe she said that 😂😂 but I also think it means all of us on here. To think some people actually believe this rubbish!

Oh I’m sat opposite the most tiniest baby I don’t think my ovaries can cope 😭😭

@carley321 yeah I’m not going to pay attention to the OPKs obviously when we are in this position we think of everything. I’m just going to stop googling 😂
