Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

Again sorry for how long that was!!

Hi @AllHopeAndNoResults
Sorry you've been struggling but glad to hear you're going into next month with a winners attitude!

I'll join you. I'm due AF this Friday so if it shows it's ugly face I'll be trying the sperm meets egg too. I read about it last week and was actually talking about it last night with DH as our next plan of attack!

Have you ever tracked before or are you fairly regular?

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 08:01

Morning @tinyole

Perfect, we can do it together. Ttc is so stressful isn’t it?

Do you feel positive about the SMEP? I feel strangely like this will work!

I have been tracking etc but just not as much as I should do I’m giving it my all this month and no I’m very irregular with long cycles 😭😭

How about you? Xx

tinyole · 09/07/2019 10:57

@AllHopeAndNoResults it's so stressful! I'm trying to stay as relaxed as possible but I've done maybe 5 tests this week all BFN Angry

Yeah the sperm meets egg method sounds really promising! I'm going to have another read of what to do. What app did you download for it? I'm charting at the moment with natural cycles but I'm not sure I'm doing it right so I've actually just splashed out on an Ava watch to help me know when I ovulate as my cycles are all over the place.

I've been on cerelle for over 10yrs and came off in May and we started TTC ASAP but I've had a 21 day cycle and 33 day one so really don't know what's going on right now

When did you start TTC? Is it your first? This would be my first so I'm throwing everything at it

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 12:04

Same! Although I have every reason to believe AF is on its way I somehow keep telling myself I could be pregnant 🤔 I’m stressing myself out too if I’m honest.

I’ve heard the Ava is really good but expensive! How are you finding it? If I could guarantee it worked than I might splash out but if it does the same as charting I don’t know if I could justify it 😂

Does it just tell you you’re ovulating without all the faffing about?

I’ve been ttc for 6+ change years. I used to say 7 but now I’m really getting into it I done believe I was really ‘trying’ before if you know what I mean.

I have one ds already.

Let’s hope it’s our turn soon I am also very hopeful for SMEP x

OP posts:
AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 12:27

I’m actually willing AF to start so I can start with the plan!!

OP posts:
tinyole · 09/07/2019 15:39

@AllHopeAndNoResults I only just ordered Ava should be arriving any day so I'll let you know how I get on! It's meant to tell you before you ovulate so you can get busy with DTD. I found with temping it kept changing my predicted ovulation date so we missed it which is frustrating so wanted something that I couldn't make mistakes with.

tinyole · 09/07/2019 15:41

And I know it's probably hopeless and AF will probably turn up right on time I'm still hopeful it's happened this month as I was feeling awful a few days ago but I know I'm probably just imagining symptom

Constance1234 · 09/07/2019 15:42

I've been pregnant 3 times and each time used the SMEP :) Good luck!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 15:46

@tinyole ahh I see, well for the price I’ve seen it at it must be quite accurate. Good luck with it!

That and following the plan has to be a good result for you. I really hope you are pregnant this time but I know how it is to imagine symptoms and very unfairly they are so similar to the dreaded arrival of AF but hopefully by the time your watch arrives you will have your BFB 🤞

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 15:48

@Constance1234 thank you for sharing that’s made me feel even more hopeful!

What are or were your cycles like? Did it happen easily and straight away? Did you find it hard work and did you do anything else?

Sorry for all the questions lol

tinyole · 09/07/2019 15:55

@Constance1234 thanks for sharing so encouraging!! And I have all the same questions @AllHopeAndNoResults just asked 🙈

Passthecherrycoke · 09/07/2019 15:58

Sorry to hear of your struggles but just wanted to say SME is a fantastic plan and gives you a great chance of pregnancy

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 15:59

Thank you @passthecherrycoke have you had experience with it? It’s lovely to hear that it really has worked for so many

Passthecherrycoke · 09/07/2019 16:00

To answer the questions by periods were very regular- 28 days and uneventful. 1st baby we did the SMEP after 6 months and 2nd from the beginning. Although we had no fertility issues you still only have a small monthly chance of pregnancy and this gives you the best shot. Took 1/2 months after using the plan

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 16:17

Thank you @passthecherrycoke
This is my worry as you say we have a small chance monthly and my cycles are so irregular and long. Hmmm losing hope now again tbh

Hi. I started doing smep yesterday. I’m a little ahead of you as I was CD 8 yesterday. I’ve been ttc for 12 cycles now and DH sperm results came back normal and my blood tests was normal too. I’ve been feeling so down about not getting my BFP recently I took a break from here, but it is always nice to speak to people in the same boat. x

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 18:37

Hey @Mrs71 welcome. We know how you feel and we are all here to support. How do you feel about the plan? What are your cycles like?

I’m hoping to hear some BFP’s from you guys soon!! X

OP posts:
Mrs71 · 09/07/2019 19:02

@AllHopeAndNoResults my cycles are regular 28/30 days each month. I’m looking forward to trying the plan can do no harm I guess! I’ve just got to the point where I’m like I don’t think I’ll ever get my BFP! I don’t think I’ll see 2 lines on a test. I’m really trying to get over this stage but it can be so difficult. x

Constance1234 · 09/07/2019 19:09

Hi @AllHopeAndNoResults & @tinyole to answer the questions, I have a pretty regular cycle and found it quite easy to follow the SMEP. The first time it happened straight away and I had my son, the second time it took about 3 months, but that was ectopic, the third time I took Clomid as well and that happened the first time too but ended in a mmc, so now I’m just waiting for my period to return to try again! I think it is a really good technique for getting pregnant - and I know there is only something like a 25% chance of getting pregnant each cycle, but I think SMEP gives you the best chance :) Hope everyone gets their bfps soon!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 19:53

Thank you to everyone sharing. It’s exciting knowing that we are all trying 😊

I do wonder though and would like to hear if ladies with irregular and long cycles found it a success.

You guys all seem to have regular cycles I am kind of slowly losing the hope lol

Skyla01 · 09/07/2019 19:55

@AllHopeAndNoResults what are your cycles like? I also though about following smep last month but gave up after a while. My cycles since stopping the pill have been 57 then 44 days long- I think a bit too long & irregular for DTD regularly the whole cycle. It would be a great plan to follow for shorter regular cycles though. If my cycles settle down I might try it.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 20:00

@skyla01 mine are pretty similar to yours so do you not think it’s worth a try for us?

Those type of cycles are the worst aren’t they? Especially when we already have a low chance

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 09/07/2019 20:28

Not at all- I still think smep is a great idea. Just that it's extra hard to keep up all the DTD for a long cycle!

HallowsandHorcruxes · 09/07/2019 20:52

Hey Smile I'm another big fan of SMEP. Worked for us first cycle last year but unfortunately the pregnancy was ectopic.

My hormone levels finally returned to normal in Feb but my cycles aren't completely back to normal yet. Will be trying the SMEP again this cycle though - I at least feel like if we don't get our BFP, then at least we've done everything we could to try.

Best of luck everyone, my fingers are crossed for you x

AllHopeAndNoResults · 09/07/2019 21:18

@Skyla01 fortunately for DP we are in for a long month of it then 😂

So what’s everyone’s cycle day status??
