Hey everyone!

Starting this thread as I'm on cycle 2. TTC 1st time and I know many others have been sharing their experiences too.

Would love to keep this thread open for anyone to share tips on conceiving from vitamins to take, foods to eat, things to look out for etc... any strategies/ideas are welcome!
My first question: what are your thoughts on Pregnacare'?

Thanks all Smile

@Seli3025 Hello OP! Looking forwards to seeing some good suggestions!

FlapJackered · 03/06/2019 14:25

Not sure I my experience is too helpful as I am still trying for #1 but as someone who has tried almost everything (been ttc for 15 months now!).
Supplements I take - Co enzyme Q10 200mg, Inositol, Conception vitamin, Fish oil tablets, probiotic, vitamin d.
I take evening primrose oil tablets and milk thistle complex before ovulation too.

I got pregnant after ttc for a year in January and I am sure that was due to taking Soy Isoflavones on days 3-7, but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks. I would recommend giving them a go to anyone who has been trying for a while as they seem to work for a lot of people.

I have heard good things about Pregncare but just check the amounts of certain vitamins as it may be you need to add extra vitamin d etc if the amount in there is too low.

I make a smoothie every day with spinach, kale, avocado, berries, manuka honey and macca powder too.
Oh and brazil nuts after ovulation!

Good luck!!

wineandcatsandlego · 03/06/2019 14:28

Probably very much a fluke but we got pregnant in our first month of trying whilst using Conceive Plus lube. Both myself and DH are overweight, we both like a drink, don't eat particularly healthily but were very lucky it happened so quickly, so I would recommend the lube even just to give yous an added helping hand Smile best of luck xx

FaFoutis · 03/06/2019 14:33

I used real egg whites, got pregnant very quickly (within 1 -2 months of TTC) 4 times.

purplefig · 03/06/2019 14:38

I've been trying to 9 months and my biggest advice would be to start temping ASAP + read 'Taking Charge or your Fertility' so you can check you're ovulating, have a normal LP etc.

Number3or4 · 03/06/2019 14:39

Your body might trick you into believing your are ovulating but those ovulation sticks only show when you are likely to ovulate. So dtd more often than nessessary and you never know you might catch a late egg.

I stopped taking pregnacare as it made me nauseous. I'm taking sevenseas vitamins now.

I'm in cycle 11 ttc dc3

Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 14:57

@FlapJackered wow thanks so much for all this that's amazing! I really hope this helps you and you get good news ASAP!

I've heard a lot about Soy Isoflavones. Anyone else had luck with these? Sorry to hear about you mc ☹️. When you say days 3-7 is this pre or post ovulation?

Smoothie sounds delicious! And love Brazil nuts so I'll start eating more of those 💪

Thank you!

Its days 3-7 of your cycle, so say 3 of period. Yiu can also try 2-6.

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/06/2019 15:02

*day not say.

Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 15:02

@wineandcatsandlego hey thanks so much for your trick! I've heard about these lubes.. I never use lube in general as I dislike the stuff plus I'm very sensitive. It's not packed with all sorts of ingredients is it ? Where can you find this in high street shops?

Thank you!

DTD as much as possible haha.

NHS website suggests;

  • not to be overweight or underweight
  • Give up the booze - Him Too! (Lowers quality of sperm)
  • to have sex every 2 to 3 days throughout the month
AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 03/06/2019 15:10

I tried for almost a year with DD1. Ended up getting pregnant after acupuncture and a Chinese supplement as I was deemed to be “damp”. We also had sex every single day of the month, “from the start of one period to the beginning of the next. Then rest the days and start again if it doesn’t work” as suggested by the Chinese doctor. Was terrible, we were both sore and my husband could barely muster the needed energy, but it worked because my period never came.

With baby number two I decided to skip the Chinese stuff at first and go straight to shagging every day. Worked like a charm (and we were both so relieved that we didn’t have to do it again for another month and got some ice packs for ourselves 😂).

Hiphopopotamous · 03/06/2019 15:13

Seconding conceive plus.
First pregnancy was trying for 6 months then first go of conceive plus resulted in DC1.
Currently pregnant with DC2, first month of trying with conceive plus.

scratchbass · 03/06/2019 15:19

Pregnacare (male and female) and conceive plus worked for us!

SuziQ10 · 03/06/2019 15:35

Thanks for your tips ladies. I've been TTC (DC2) for a year now. Will be trying some of the things suggested here

Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 15:41

@FaFoutis hey I'm intrigued... could you explain to me what and how etc? Thanks

OP posts:
FlapJackered · 03/06/2019 15:42

@Seli3025 yes pre ovulation. Cd3-7 or 2-6 or 4-8. Then I take 100mg day 3, 150mg day 4 and 5, 200mg day 6 and 7.
If you google it you will find there are instructions on how to take it.
This is what convinced me to try them -
https://community.babycentre.co.uk/post/a12154345/bfpswithhsoyisoflavones.

I definitely had much stronger lines on opks and felt ovulation much more. I have tried it again this cycle so I will let you know if it was successful again!

Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 15:43

@purplefig thanks for your comment 😁 since we have started trying I have used "Natural Cycle" app and it's been very helpful!

I know there are free apps like it out there too! So I agree 😁😁

Recommend a basal thermometer, as it measure to 2 d.p. 👍

OP posts:
Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 15:45

@Number3or4 yeh you're right! I think I get so caught up on just the "peak fertile" days that I could be missing it as I haven't used my app long enough for it to really know my body!

So I'm going to DTD a lot more but bare in mind this can affect the quality of the sperm (apparently) so we may do it every other day!

OP posts:
Seli3025 · 03/06/2019 15:45

@KittenMittens1 definitely! He won't complain 😂😂 thanks for the NHS tips!

Some medication such as diclofenac have temporary female infertility as a side effect!! It did not used to be stated on the leaflet in the packets although it was on official sites although side effects may have been updated now. Surprising how many people are unaware of this and how private IVF clinics do not necessarily mention this easy solution to fertility (where applicable especially to those with long term health issues) before taking thousands in payment for IVF!!

Bluerussian · 03/06/2019 15:57

If you are only on second cycle after trying to conceive, that's not very long. I guess, unless there is a real medical problem, you'll become pregnant within a few months.

Relax and think of other things if you can. Plan a nice holiday.
