Hey ladies, it's been a very long time since I've been on here - last September I think! I turned 40 last May, and hubby and I started ttc last July. To my amazement I conceived immediately but sadly miscarried at 5 weeks - I was absolutely devastated. To my disbelief I conceived again the following cycle but suffered another miscarriage at just over 4 weeks. I was very low at the time and if my memory serves me correctly, the last few times I posted on here was to question whether I had it in me to keep trying. I was convinced that I'd left it too late and that it wasn't meant to be. Regardless, we did try again the following month but failed to conceive. BUT .. the month after, we did conceive and this one stuck!!! I'm now 39+1 and our baby girl is due on Sunday, I still can't believe it. I have been utterly paranoid throughout most of the pregnancy waiting for and expecting something to go wrong - every time my morning sickness stopped for a day or I failed to feel baby move for a few hours, I was a wreck. However, everything has been completely normal at every scan and check up Smile. Because of my age, my obstetrician does not want me to go over my due date so if no sign of baby by Sunday, I'm looking at either induction or planned section .. At the age of 41, I feel so lucky and so blessed to be in this position and I really hope this story gives hope to those of you who are struggling

karryk · 08/07/2019 16:18

How wonderful @Raffeylou ❤️ so sorry for your losses but how lovely to read that your little girl will be with you soon. Wishing you a wonderfully smooth last week of pregnancy before the little one arrives Flowers

Russkispy · 08/07/2019 16:36

Thank you lovely ladies! Don't think the news sunk in properly yet! Would like to stick around if that's ok with you as it's very very early days!

Catconfusion · 08/07/2019 16:52

Of course @Russkispy stay put as your story gives us all hope. Xx

Wow @Raffeylou thanks for sharing. I’m in a similar boat: two losses and just turned 40. I too fell straight away and was shocked it happens quickly but having a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks was a slap in the face, then an early loss. I’m hoping we have similar luck and our next one is the one. Good luck with the birth and enjoy your beautiful baby! Xx

Chatbash72 · 08/07/2019 17:37

Ooh @Raffeylou that's fantastic news
@Russkispy nope just cos you are preg doesn't mean you need to go, it's fab having updates xx

Elles1980 · 08/07/2019 17:40

I hope it's ok to join this thread (Im a total technophobe and usually just like around reading). I'm blessed enough to have 4 wonderful children 21-18-9 &4. IV had 2 eptopics and in may the most horrible miscarriage at 12 weeks where I had to be rescusitated due to cervical shock followed by a d&c. This would have been my poor partners first child and he (we both are) devestated. We stated using a clear blue fertility monitor and got peaks sat and sun, but today I had a random bleed and we both panicked a little. Im 40 in January and he's 42 and I guess like IV read alot of people are so quick to comment on our ages we just feel like time is against us, it's exciting and soul destroying all at the same time. It is however reasuring and super lovely to see so many sharing there experiences and supporting each other. I guess trying for a baby can be a stressful and kind of loanley time for some couples. Oh I missed out fun lol... We certainly are having fun trying! Congratulations to all the pregnant ladies it's a beautiful thing and it's ok to moan about pregnancy as it's all part of the experience, and to those trying much love and the the best of luck SmileFlowers xxx

Kimm123 · 08/07/2019 20:23

Hi ladies....Yes definitely a huge congratulations to everyone who have concieved and all the very best to u all lovely ladies. AND for everybody else like me its just a waiting game and hopefully we all will get our bfp very soon sooo everyone of us can celebrate together.....😘😘😘

Kimm123 · 08/07/2019 20:26

And to all the ladies who are pregnant u need to tell us the tricks of the trade and the theory u used to get bfp...thats the only way us ladies can help each other and try n experiment different ways of to concieve very quick.xx

Russkispy · 08/07/2019 20:46

Thank you ladies. Still feeling shocked! I kept having reflexology every other week. And after seeing a fertility coach whom I mentioned on here before, we switched to alkaline diet. Also drinking a smoothie of celery and green apple every day, and a squeezed fresh lemon every day and its flesh if you can stomach. Tomorrow I'll attach a list of supplements she told me to buy. Had a D&C on 2nd May, saw her a week later and started all supplements and the diet from 12th May. Had first AF after D&c last month. And was expecting AF now. But a surprising BFP. Also, been taking DHEA, 75mg a day, Doctor's Best ubiquinol of 300mg a day, zinc of 15mg and aspirin of 75mg. I really would like to think and believe those changes made my BFP

BooseysMom · 08/07/2019 21:02

@catconfusion.. i think that's my biggest fear.. the fear of loss/es...even more than having just a two bed house and a low income. So many here have suffered . .not age related i know... but it scares me all the same. I just read another thread where the op says she wants more than one dc and her dh has refused and wants to stick with one. She's 35 and doesn't want a newborn at 40. I was tempted to say well i had a newborn at 40 and it was the best thing to ever happen to me! In fact i think i will say that ..why not?! But really i feel it's pushing it to expect it to happen again at 47.

@turquoiseturtle...fantastic news from your scan. Wishing you a healthy happy pregnancy x

@Russikpy.. just look at that lovely line! Grin.. Congratulations Flowers

@raffeylou.. i remember you! So sorry to hear you suffered three mcs. Congratulations on the imminent birth of your DD. I was also 41 when I had DS and thought i'd left it too late. He was my miracle baby. Thinking of you on Sunday Flowers

@Elles1980.. thanks for your lovely msg..i'm so sorry to hear of your experiences. I hope you are successful...baby dust heading your way! Halox

Kimm123 · 08/07/2019 22:11

@Russkipsy....thanku for that....that's soo much to have all them supplements ..were can u buy Dhea from and also wat does D&c stand for...

Kimm123 · 08/07/2019 22:16

@Russkipsy...and if you dont mind me asking how many reflexology sessions did u have?? I dont know if we can afford that amount each month....cuz it's alot of money tho....but then again i suppose if u really want a baby then why not...
I mean i dont even have any periods for a few month so god knows wats happening...

Elles1980 · 08/07/2019 22:21

@BooseysMom I hate this age related nonsense, it just makes us all feel a bit rubbish about ourselves (was going to be a bit more colourful with my words but decided against it lol)! It's not like our arms and legs are hanging off for goodness sake! We're living longer more healthy lives so surely that impacting our fertility also? There haven't been enough studies to prove otherwise so I for one am against ageism in later mother's. My midwife consultation in may before MC was quite awful, I had some 20 year old telling me how many things can go wrong because I'm old! I'm 39, in my head I'm 19 so I can't see a problem! I hope you all have beautiful wonderful babies, were all so different it's such a lovely idea to swap hints and support each other I wish I'd have had the courage to join a chat earlier when I really needed that support! Glad I'm here now though :) xx

littlemimosa · 09/07/2019 00:21

Hi ladies, I’m sorry I went quiet. I’m not ovulating again so I’m not ttc so I feel a fraud coming on here at those times. And I’m just so sad about it all I almost can’t face even talking about it anymore. But I didn’t want to disappear completely and I’m aware I didn’t reply to @Kimm123

Kimm- I’m just turned 43 and have two DC 6&8. My cycles have been irregular for a couple of years now but lately they are getting longer and longer. I think I’ve only had 3 periods since the new year. In the very long cycles I get some hot flashes but after I ovulate (eventually) they stop til the next time. I’ve had every test available and mostly my results are good and my tubes are clear etc. I’ve tried literally every supplement going and every alternative treatment. Not even had a sniff of a bfp. I’m still going to acupuncture every two weeks and reflexology about once a month but mainly because I like them and it’s relaxing. I’m at my gp next week so I’m going to ask about Letrozole as a last ditch attempt really. No idea if it’s even suitable for me but I’ll let you know what he says.
How are you? Do you get any symptoms with no periods? Have you been to a doctor?

Hope everyone else is ok.
Congratulations to all the bfps and keep posting the positive news. Re Alanis Morrisette - I bet it’s DE. Not that it matters in any way but it got me thinking how strange it is that our bodies can happily carry a pregnancy at 45 but not conceive one?!

@Kimm123 had a reflexology every other week after D&c. D&c is a surgical procedure to remove the tissue after a missed miscarriage

@Russkispy Thank you for posting your supplements info - what did your fertility consultant say the kelp was for out of interest?
Big congratulations and wishing you a very healthy and smooth 9 months :) xx

NicLondon1 · 09/07/2019 16:29

Hi all

I joined several months ago then went very quiet, as was working long hours on a freelance job... have no big news, just been ticking along really. My cycles have been 51 days long (!) but wanted to thank @SparrowSG for recommending OvuSense, but it's really helped my sanity to monitor cycles.

@Russkispy - such amazing news, huge congratulations!!

I'm in the dreaded 2 week wait now... driving myself mad wondering if I'm having symptoms and just counting the days down...
It's so hard to think anything else!

Cleozeta · 09/07/2019 16:58

Congrats russkispy! Great timing!! And will save you a few pennies too! Fingers crossed this is it.

Mimosa - sorry to hear your cycles are still shitty. I understand how stressful that can be. Would you ever consider IVF or DE? I'm thinking that may be my only option now, so starting to glance that way....

BooseysMom · 09/07/2019 18:35

@Elles1980.. That's a positive msg you send! It's so true. I did once meet a young midwife who was very much pro older mums and said to not be put off by anyone and that you'll get extra care too. She was very inspiring. Also it made me laugh when you said it's not as if our arms and legs are falling off! It reminded me of another thread where there was general cynicism of older mothers and one lady in her mid 40s said 'right, i'll just drag my old arthritic bones back to my recliner"! Or something along those lines and it was very pointed. But yeah i'm also glad to be here whatever happens it's nice to know there are others out there who get it! Smile xx

@Littlemimosa. Sorry to hear you so low. You're not a fraud..if you are then i am more so being as i'm too scared to really try! You will always be welcome here just as you made me feel welcome and encouraged me to stay Smile ..xx

@NicLondon1.. Welcome back! Good luck in your 2ww x

Elles1980 · 09/07/2019 20:16

@BooseysMom it's super annoying, I'm a super active pe teacher, I feel like a 21 year old (once IV gotten going in the morning haha) and my mental age declines by the day. I fully understand the lady's comment about dragging her arthritic bones back to her chair. And that also made me lol! @littlemimosa it is sad you feel so low but take a little comfort knowing that people relate, and none of us are frauds, were just a group of women supporting each other and trying to get by in life. Your here supporting other ladies and that is an amazing thing
@NicLondon1 it's also my tww but I'm going to be chill (pahaha made myself lol then) and IV decided to break it down into two week waits, so IV got af then two weeks till ovulation and so on and so forth, somehow in my tiny mind it seems like a shorter and more manageable timeframe so I don't feel like I'm going from month to month (I hope this makes sense Grin)!
We're all in this together, dear lord I sang that in high school music in my head.... Can you get kicked from threads? Asking for a friend lol! Xx

hmmm123 · 09/07/2019 22:47

Evening all! Fingers and toes crossed for those of us who are pg and in those in the annoying 2WW

I am about 4 dpo and boobs very full and painful. Trying not to symptom spot!

rubyroot · 09/07/2019 22:56

@Russkispy excellent news, congrats and really hope this one sticks for you x. Don't leave, this is not like the other thread where you cannot share your news of a positive pregnancy without upsetting people. Gosh, most of us have experienced loss and can be happy for someone with positive news.

@raffeylou, thanks for sharing your news and good luck for the birth, you''ll get to meet her soon- how exciting!

I had my first at 39 after one MMC and I was an absolutely anxious wreck, the things I invented in my head Blush- so I can only imagine what an anxious time it has been for you. I hope you have still enjoyed your pregnancy though, I know I certainly did, even though I was anxious!

So after a 'chemical pregnancy' I am waiting for my period. I have felt like I've been about to come on for about four/five days now. I don't know whether I feel pregnant or it is just wishful thinking. I don't want to test as I don't want the hope an then the disappointment.

I will wait and see, but I've been waking early and not being able to sleep and have very sore boobs which has often been a sign for me, I have also been in a rotten mood. But these early days its hard to tell the difference between PMT and pregnancy. We shall see...

rubyroot · 09/07/2019 22:59

@Elles1980 sorry for your loss. Flowers The ladies on here are great

Elles1980 · 10/07/2019 00:48

@hmmm123 I'm also 4 dpo, no symptoms at all yet but my brain is trying to convince me this evening I have cramps type feelings lol! I have had very light spotting but it would be too early to be implantation so I'll out that down to my just being a bit weird lol! But it would be nice to keep in touch to see how your feeling and if I can stop convincing myself of other symptoms ha!
@Russkispy it's lovely news, you should never feel bad Hun, enjoy it Smile. And thank you @rubyroot I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, even if it is a bit sad at the time I'm pretty robust (or a bit dim I'm not sure lol) so tend to just get on with things! It's lovely having somewhere to see others being so open and supportive of each other through both highs and lows! If there were more of this the world would certainly be a nicer place Flowers
