Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@Goodyear2019 maybe ask your acupuncturist about charts? I much prefer her print outs- I can look at a whole cycle in one instead of a week at a time ok an app!

You can 'see' when ovulation happens, I wish I'd been to see her six months ago.

purplefig · 16/05/2019 16:50

Smoothie update: expensive but actually a bit tasty. Think I'll upgrade my regular breakfast smoothie to it for a while. Why not 😂

PineappleC · 16/05/2019 22:55

@Katbecool Thanks 😊 The reason I'm interested in it is to try and lengthen my LP, so hopefully no risks!!

@Mrs71 Great to have someone with the same cycle this month 😊 Happy BDing to you - I've had my positive opk now so we're going to keep at it until Sunday just to make sure!

I'm also looking into acupuncture (and Mayan masages...), so reading all your messages on this with interest!!

FlapJackered · 17/05/2019 07:48

So just had my blood test results back for my thyroid and TSH has shot up. so they have upped my meds which I am really happy about as I was starting to get symptoms back, and I knew something was wrong there. It probably means until that comes down with the new meds we probably won't be able to conceive, but at least I know now though.

That smoothie sounds good! I am a big smoothie fan already.
I have been told by the nutritionist I went to that I need to have more protein in my breakfast but other than eggs (which make me gag a bit in the morning) anyone have any ideas??

@PineappleC that is frustrating about the exercise. I think I will just stick to maybe cross trainer and swimming.
As Kat says I think only take Agnus Castus if you have irregular cycles. I normally only ovulate on day 20-22 so wondering if it will help me ovulate earlier.
I think you're meant to stop taking it as soon as you get your bfp too.

Sore to hear about your TSH @FlapJackered but I'm glad you'll get your meds and it'll be sorted again, fingers crossed it doesn't take too long ❤️ try this for protein ideas - www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.self.com/gallery/high-protein-breakfasts-that-arent-eggs/amp

Sorry I disappeared for a bit ladies, how are you all doing? X

Goodyear2019 · 17/05/2019 08:45

@NotMaryWhitehouse thanks I'll definitely ask her, next appointment's not for a few weeks but will see what she says

purplefig · 17/05/2019 08:52

@PineappleC Oooo if you have a Mayan massage please do let us know what you think. I'm so intrigued by these!

@FlapJackered glad it's all moving in the right way. The smoothie actually has some protein powder in it (I have pea protein which is pretty flavourless) - so that could work? Alternatively, what about tofu scramble? Egg muffins (might be less gag inducing than 'wet' eggs)? Greek yoghurt (it's so high)? Cottage cheese and fruit? Breakfast burrito?

purplefig · 17/05/2019 09:43

P.S. Anyone interested in reading more about B-complex vits and short LPs might enjoy this thread - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3491557-B-Vitamins-for-pre-AF-spotting-and-short-luteal-phase

NotMaryWhitehouse · 17/05/2019 11:28

Peanut butter? Grilled cheese?

PineappleC · 17/05/2019 18:22

@Flapjackered Thanks! I actually heard about Agnus Castus through the thread @purplefig mentioned about short luteal phase, but think I might leave it out of my array of supplements for now and stick with the B, C, D Vits for a bit as my cycles aren't really irregular.

Also, for added protein, if you like smoothies I would try adding protein powder to a normal fruit smoothie. I do this for protein after running - white choc or vanilla protein powder added to fruit and skimmed milk and blitzed. It's really good and a much cheaper protein source.

@purplefig I will do! I'm going to book a consultation with someone who does both acu and Mayan and see what she recommends.

Mrs71 · 17/05/2019 18:34

@PineappleC I’m trying to chill out a bit this month. I have a Clear blue fertility monitor and I’m not using it this month. Just trying to bed every other day and probably will this whole week as it’s fertile week!

KatBeCool · 17/05/2019 19:16

@FlapJackered I've been wondering if my TSH has shot up too as I got some of the symptoms back as well. I think I'm going to schedule to recheck. Might as well ask to have my Vit D and B tested too.

MuddyElephant · 17/05/2019 20:47

Got our results back from initial tests yesterday, all fine for both of us. Good but frustrating! We are being referred to a fertility clinic though so at least things are moving along. So frustrating not knowing what the reason is. Out this month as well as I'm away with work over my fertile window.

FlapJackered · 18/05/2019 17:31

Thanks for all the protein ideas, I have ordered some protein powder which I might add to my porridge.

@Mrs71 I am trying to be chilled too this month. Not temping but I probably will take opks but not too early as I usually do!

@KatBeCool I would trust your instinct with your thyroid and ask for another blood test. If it's not right it will just be another obstacle in the way of getting pregnant.

@MuddyElephant that is good news but I understand the frustration. At least you're being referred so there is a plan of action.

So I'm about a week past ovulation and have a horrible sore throat. Got a little excited at first (while trying to remain calm and not symptom spot 🙄) but I now actually think I'm just ill. Very, very tired but really feel lousy and my tonsils are red.
Think I'm going to have to be brave and book that appointment.

Seems like there's lots of us trying a more relaxed approach this cycle. Anyone else at 7dpo or similar?

Mrs71 · 19/05/2019 12:44

@muddypuddlejumping hope you feel better soon! I have had tonsillitis before it’s horrendous. I’m CD15 today so quite far behind.

I need some advice regarding my next blood test. I had my day 5 the next one the gp said 7 days before period on day 21 but sometimes my cycle varies between 28/30 shall I just go on cd 21?

NotMaryWhitehouse · 19/05/2019 15:50

@Mrs71 I would - do you ovulate normally- as in day 14? I believe day21 is to check that your progesterone is rising properly afterwards.

Mrs71 · 19/05/2019 16:37

@NotMaryWhitehouse usually around CD14/16. Does it cause a problem if you don’t get it accurate. I should of asked the Gp.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 19/05/2019 17:09

I'm not too sure, but I don't have too much faith in GPs! When I was sent for blood tests, they didn't even tell me that days were relevant, just booked me in. I'm sure in your case day 21 will be fine.

Newbie21 · 20/05/2019 00:21

@Mrs71 I have a similar issue. I have to go for another progesterone test but I ovulated on cd 18 or 19 this cycle so think I will take test a bit later on cd 23. I should wait a bit longer but it takes me into the bank holiday so think I should test on the Friday before instead of waiting until the following Tuesday.

muddypuddlejumping · 20/05/2019 20:39

Argh I'm feeling well and truly fed up this evening and like it will never happen. Made the mistake of testing this morning (I don't know why - I know it's never bfp) and now I feel worse. How do we just keep going?! I feel like just giving up and accepting that it won't happen again.

FlapJackered · 21/05/2019 09:48

Cd14 today and expecting to ovulate in about a week. Trying to be chilled, still not temping or opking! I think I will start doing both on Friday then I can make sure I catch ov. I think it is unlikely to happen this month with tsh all over the place but worth a try! DH is away this week so I am trying to avoid GoT spoilers until he gets back and we can watch it. 😬

@muddypuddlejumping I am sorry you're having a rough time. We all have days like this. It is so hard but you will get there and you will hold your baby and this will all seem like a distant memory.
What dpo are you now?

@Mrs71 a day or so either side won't make too much of a difference. When will you get the results?

@KatBeCool how are you lovely? What cd are you on?

OP posts:
Mrs71 · 21/05/2019 12:57

@newbie21 I’m going on Saturday to the hospital to have my day21 blood test if I leave it then can’t go till Tuesday. Might be too late.

@muddlepuddlejumping hope you’re feeling better today. How many dpo are you? I know that feeling too well, but honestly you will get there it’s just so hard sometimes. I mentioned I feel like this sometimes to the GP when I went to see him and he said it’s so common to feel like this but think of it like you’re one month closer to getting your BFP!

@flapjackered I’m having my day 21 blood test on Saturday then it’s the bank holiday so I’m not sure 🤔. GP told us to come back once we’ve had the tests and he’ll give us the results. I’ll keep calling next week to see when they’re in and I’ll book and an appointment. Hubbys results should be in later this week.

KatBeCool · 21/05/2019 17:16

CD11 today and got a blazing positive opk. This never happened so early before. Looks like that handful of supplements is definitely doing something to my body. On the other hand, I can stop a few of them.

FlapJackered · 21/05/2019 18:20

@KatBeCool amazing! Which of the supplements do you think did the job? Were there any new ones this month?

@Mrs71 will keep fingers crossed for you!
