TTC for 1 year +

Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

Hi everyone, TTC number 2 here just reached the year mark so thought I'd pop on and say hello!

Been told I have PCOS before, now told I don't but have one small cyst. Doctors where I live are pretty useless so I'm in limbo at the mo! Not sure if I should ask my other half to check his swimmers.

Have a good day all!

KatBeCool · 02/09/2019 12:30

@FlapJackered the pain could be radiating, just because the cyst is on one side, doesn't mean that it's where it'll hurt. I'd mention that medication doesn't help either.

@Wrigleys123 welcome. Doesn't hurt to get all the tests done, yours and OH.

starkid · 02/09/2019 13:45

@FlapJackered - I've been having pain around my left ovary too, and during my ultrasound they said they could see a fair bit of liquid around it. I wonder if might be cyst in my circumstance too?
I guess the consultant might have to answer in my appointment later this month, so will add 'pain on left ovary on and off' to my (long) list of things to tell them!

When's your op for it?

FlapJackered · 02/09/2019 20:12

@KatBeCool oh really, good thinking, I will mention that.

@starkid sorry to hear you're getting pain too, not fun! The op hasn't been scheduled yet annoyingly. They said it would be approx 3 month wait which would make it November. It's frustrating as it has grown 1cm in a month by then it might be another 3cm bigger. 😕

@Wrigleys123 welcome! I think it's a good idea to get the swimmers checked, we were trying for ages and I was giving up everything thinking it was me, then we found DH is most likely the issue.

Hi does anyone know how to go about getting my hormones checked I've got my one year appointment tomorrow morning, and I'm convinced that that is what the problem is.

Wrigleys123 · 02/09/2019 23:42

Thanks for the warm welcome!

queen you can request a test at your appointment, I think they do day 3 and day 21 tests to check that you're ovulating. Good luck at your appointment!

Hi everyone!

I've been following the old thread for almost a year now but only just now registered. I hope it's ok if I join you.

Here's a little bit about me: I'm 34, we've been trying to TTC for a year now. Since last year, we've found out that I have endometriosis (small endometriomas in both ovaries found on ultrasound, no laparoscopy) and that my partner has low sperm count (not a disaster but could be better). I've had a few tests done and we're waiting to get more check-ups done.

Right now I'm feeling a little down because I don't know much about my condition or my chances of ever getting pregnant. We're overseas so I don't know much about how it works with NHS, but where I am it takes months to get any answers in public healthcare (albeit I have no reason to doubt the quality of treatment here).

Basically, it's gotten to a point where I'm struggling to cope with pregnancy news around me. A lot of my friends are having babies this autumn, and I feel like I'm missing out big time. I'm happy for my friends, of course, but this seems like a place where I can say it out loud: I'm so jealous it hurts.

Thanks for creating this thread, I think it's great to have a place for those of us who are still waiting after a year.

starkid · 03/09/2019 09:10

@Lina365 - Welcome! Don't worry I think we all feel like that here. Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of your situation, but I know lots of people who have several children while with endometriosis - doesn't really help when it's been a year I know, but thought might be something Flowers

@queenqueenqueen - the hormone blood test was one of the first things done in my GP appointment so should be the same for you, good luck this morning Smile

Lina365 · 03/09/2019 09:18

Thanks @starkid! (hopefully that tag worked...) A year or 2 years is often said to be within normal time to TTC, that's why I keep hoping every month. But like you said, not easy! Each month is a long month to wait for someone wishing to get pregnant.

queenqueenqueen · 03/09/2019 15:28

Hi, thanks for your replies! Yes going to go for a blood test when my next period starts! First time I've been desperate for AF to come!!!

queenqueenqueen · 03/09/2019 16:04

She also mentioned clomid... Is anyone on this already?

KatBeCool · 03/09/2019 19:04

Beta results are in - IUI failed. BFN. I'm absolutely gutted. Going to start another cycle. Although there's not even a sign of AF.

@queenqueenqueen I used Clomid for four cycles with no success. Personally, I don't recommend. But I know it helped some people.

FlapJackered · 03/09/2019 19:50

@KatBeCool I am so sorry hun. That is really disappointing. Did you speak to them about the timing as you thought they might have done it after ovulation didn't you?

@queenqueenqueen good luck with the tests!

Welcome @Lina365 totally with you on the jealousy thing. 3 of my best friends are pregnant and it is so hard to see them and talk to them about their pregnancy etc. It just feels so unfair. It helps to have a place to vent the frustrations here with people who are going through the same thing.

Hey all!

@KatBeCool so so sorry it didn't work! I know u just be so gutted now that it's official and u prob just want AF to come on ahead and stop playing even more tricks with your mind!

@queenqueenqueen u can get ur hormone profile checked at 2 points in your cycle. Most GPs just to a 21day blood hormone profile, which also checks that ur ovulating. However, others also do one day 1-4 of your cycle. Mine didn't but I have sent my referral off to Reprofit in Brno and that's the only thing I have left to get done for them is the day 1-4 bloods.

So after I get those done next week it should hopefully be all systems go! 😱

Anyone know anything about mini IVF cycles?

KatBeCool · 03/09/2019 20:11

@FlapJackered they won't take temping into consideration but this time we're going to DTD the day of the trigger shot. Definitely want AF to happen already. The only positive is that they don't need to increase my meds. FX for some good eggs.

Broodyaf · 03/09/2019 21:28

@KatBeCool
Have they mentioned an endo scratch to you?

KatBeCool · 03/09/2019 22:01

@Broodyaf I've never even heard of such thing, so I did some research, looks like there's no good proof that it even works? My lining showed that it was a little thin but good (multi-layered) composition so I see no need to disturb that. Maybe for women whose cycles last for like 90 days and their lining possibly gets old and stagnant, it might be more beneficial, but mine are quite normal. I'd probably pass out from pain anyway.

Broodyaf · 03/09/2019 22:06

I don't know much about either @KatBeCool but I have been chattin a few people getting advice for IVF - 2 ladies swore by it. One of them had 5 failed IVF cycles - she has the endo scratch and successful. 2 years later went for another cycle of ivf with endo scratch - successful again.
Maybe it was kick but she swore by it cos it was the only thing that changed.
Maybe even ask your doctor and see what they say?
There must be something about it or it must be common enough otherwise it wouldn't be on all the clinic's treatment pricelists ?!
Not sure x

Mrs71 · 03/09/2019 23:00

Hi ladies. Just been catching up on the thread. Hi to all the newbies 👋👋👋

@KatBeCool sorry it didn't work for you.

@RosettaR how are you? Are you still going to acupuncture.

Mrs71 · 03/09/2019 23:03

I feel like I just want a referral to the fertility clinic too!! It's been a year half I don't want to wait another 6 months for a referral!! I know I'm on these tablets now but I feel deflated. I do think the acupuncture is helping me slightly.

FlapJackered · 04/09/2019 14:47

DH just asked me when we are going to call all this a day? He said he wouldn't want to do more than one cycle of ivf if it comes to that. I feel so low. I just can't imagine giving up on having a family that easily, but what choice do I have if that is what he wants. 😢

@Mrs71 It is so frustrating isn't it! What does your gp say? Did they say another 6 months? Glad to hear the acupuncture is helping. I have had a break from mine but I think I might go back soon.

starkid · 04/09/2019 15:18

@FlapJackered - my husband is the same, looking horrified when he hears how much IVF costs after the initial NHS funded one(s). He's ambivalent enough about the whole thing to try for a family/goes through tests reluctantly, but doesn't care enough to pay thousands towards it.

Lj02 · 04/09/2019 17:25

Hi all hope you dont mind me jumping on. Ive been ttc since early last year i finally got pregnant this january then had a mmc at 12 weeks. But because i did get pregnant they say it has to be another 12 months since i lost the last until they will look into anything! ‘Stay positive’ they say well yes easier said than done when your a serial tester in the and then have a break down every time you get a negative test. Im not getting my hopes up this month as ive been really poorly its just pointless. Sorry just needed a good rant i think 🤦🏽‍♀️

Mrs71 · 04/09/2019 17:37

@FlapJackered I've just come back from my 3rd session of acupuncture she's given me supplements to take I don't take anything at the moment. Gp told me to come back in December time for a referral.

That's hard to accept. Would your husband not consider more if it came to it?
