TTC for 1 year +

Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

Good that you had all those tests etc. done/organised in the one appointment xx

Broodyaf · 28/08/2019 18:59

Yes but having to repeat ones like std's, OHs SA (which is less than a month old) is so silly & just drawing out the process!
Plus the waiting lists for everything is ridiculous... realistically it would easily be another 18months before I start IVF

At 37 now, I just can't afford to take the risk and wait... I'm just going to have to go private, pay thousands but get this job over and done with and with the help of god have a few month old baby by the time NHS calls me back!! 🙏😂

KatBeCool · 28/08/2019 19:04

@Broodyaf it's not surprising they push for ivf, it's the only thing most doctors are interested in these days and refuse to do anything else.

How can they be sure you are ovulating with progesterone test? That doesn't sound right to me.

And the benefit of medicated is cycles is helping you mature more than one follicle while monitoring that it's actually happening and timing intercourse. It worked for many women. I don't know why they're dismissing it.

So good thing you're having private consultation too.

KatBeCool · 28/08/2019 19:06

@Broodyaf that was supposed to say "with no progesterone" test. I thought I was ovulating this whole time, with positive opks and bbt, only to find out the opposite.

Broodyaf · 28/08/2019 19:12

@KatBeCool
Because I had my 21 day bloods done twice with GP and both times progesterone levels showed I am ovulating.

Dr said no point in medicated cycles because there is nothing actually wrong with me from all the tests I have had done so therefore nothing to treat.
She said if my progesterone was low she could prescribe Clomid etc, if the lining of my uterus was too thin to hold fertilised egg she could prescribe estrogen but because everything so far is normal there is nothing to treat

Tbh I would have actually thought she would have tried to push me towards a few medicated cycles first of all as it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than a round of IVF and as this is all NHS funded

If it had have been the private clinic and they pushed straight for IVF I'd be thinking it was just for the money...

Did your progesterone levels show up that u weren't ovulating, or how did u find out?
How are you feeling today? I know it's so hard not to symptom spot... I feel it's so hard even for me not to ask u 🙈🙈🙈

KatBeCool · 28/08/2019 19:20

@Broodyaf I had a day 21 test last cycle which indicated I might not be ovulating. Maybe it was just that cycle, who knows.

So like I said, the point of medicated cycles is multiple follicles and timed intercourse. I agree, it's a lot cheaper than ivf.

I'm ok, only sore boobs, nothing else.

Broodyaf · 28/08/2019 19:23

Can I just ask was the 21day test taken exactly 7 days before AF arrived and what was ur result?

I'm sure ur flat out givin ur boobs a wee squeeze here and there just to make sure they're still sore 😂
That's the kinda carry on I'd be at anyway 😂

KatBeCool · 29/08/2019 06:17

@Broodyaf you're right, I'm constantly squeezing my boobs to check if they're still sore. 😂
Day 21 test is seven days after ovulation, not necessarily seven days before AF.

KatBeCool · 29/08/2019 06:17

My result was 1.66

FlapJackered · 29/08/2019 07:26

@KatBeCool I am with you on the boob squeezing, and also been occasionally flashing myself in the mirror to check for veiny boobs! 😂

Broodyaf · 29/08/2019 09:35

Morning boob squeezers @FlapJackered & @KatBeCool
Any more veins or pains today? 😂😂

KatBeCool · 29/08/2019 09:55

@Broodyaf don't act like you don't squish your boobs in TWW 😂

@FlapJackered were your veins large blue ones or tiny red ones? I have these tiny red ones but only on one side and I don't even know if they were there before.

So I did a frer today, only 10dpo though, and I swear there's a shadow of a line. I really really hope it's not still from the trigger shot.

FlapJackered · 29/08/2019 10:00

@KatBeCool no way! Trying not to get too excited for you 😬
Did you test to see if the line had gone after the trigger? If so I doubt it can be! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
My boobs had lots of blue veinyness!

@Broodyaf Not a vein in sight now 🙄

@FlapJackered I tested on IC for the line a couple of days ago and it was just about gone. Today is my birthday, so I had to test. I know it's too early but I could use some good news today.
How are you doing?

starkid · 29/08/2019 10:25

@KatBeCool - Happy birthday!! Cake Grin

FlapJackered · 29/08/2019 10:59

@KatBeCool Happy Birthday!! Have you got anything nice planned?
I am ok, not feeling overly positive this cycle as we only managed it once in fertile week, but it's ok as I feel like we are waiting for DHs lifestyle changes to take effect anyway which will be another month.

Mrs71 · 29/08/2019 11:00

@KatBeCool Happy Birthday! 🥳 I really hope you get your BFP how exciting!!

@Broodyaf good that they did all those tests in your first appointment.

KatBeCool · 29/08/2019 11:05

@starkid @FlapJackered @Mrs71 thank you! DH and I are going to have a fancy meal. I prefer to cook myself instead of a restaurant despite hubby's protests that I shouldn't cook on my birthday lol.

PineappleC · 29/08/2019 12:14

@KatBeCool happy birthday! Crossing everything for you and really hope that shadow gets much stronger!!

@Broodyaf thanks for putting up the details of your appt, really useful to know, although still sounds a crazy long wait! Good news about the follicles, and I think I would probably do the same as you and go ahead with the private appt. Presumably you will still stay on the nhs waiting list if the private one fails...?

Hilarious re the boob squeezers 😅

Tania41 · 29/08/2019 12:21

Hello ladies,

I have been TTC for 5 years - multiple failed IVF and a MMC.

I just bought the Ava bracelet, so hoping it works! I'm 41. I have pretty much tried EVERYTHING else to conceive.

Here is a £20 off code in case anyone wants it...

starkid · 29/08/2019 13:31

@Tania41 - welcome! Ooh thank you for the code, definitely going to bear it in mind! Sorry to hear you've been struggling for so long xx Flowers

Broodyaf · 29/08/2019 16:30

Welcome @Tania41
Sorry to hear about your long struggle!
Did the clinics where you received your IVF give you any indication as to why they failed? Or any pointers to what u can do?
I had looked into the Ava bracelet previously but thought it just told u when u ovulated and therefore wasn't worth the price when u can use wee IC OPKs for that! But obviously there's a lot more to it - fingers & toes crossed it works for you...
U thinking of any more treatment? Xx

bunhead34 · 29/08/2019 17:22

Hi all, I've been away for a week so it's hard to catch up now! AF has arrived, so there goes another cycle. I have an appointment at the fertility clinic in October so just waiting for that now.

@Broodyaf sounds like you got a lot of info at your appointment. Fingers crossed for the private one and they get things moving quickly!

@KatBeCool happy birthday!

@Tania41 welcome, sorry you have been struggling so long.
I've thought about the Ava bracelet, but grudge spending so much!

Broodyaf · 29/08/2019 17:29

Happy birthday @KatBeCool!!
Is this the big 4 0 ?
Any extra nice celebrations?
Please God for your next birthday Ul either have a massive bump or a wee bundle of joy in ur arms 🙏

Ah sorry to hear about AF @bunhead34
I resent that ole witch!

With regards to the boob squeezing ... u used to be a boob addict but since I'm into over 30 cycles of TTC I don't pay them any attention now and just wait for the witch 😂

I think now that the fertility clinic wheels are in motion I've relaxed a lot with TTC and just gonna leave it in their hands... as my cycle is every 24-26days I actually am exhausted hoppin on and off like a dog's hind leg - and all to no avail so far 😫

KatBeCool · 29/08/2019 20:03

@Tania41 welcome!

@Broodyaf it's the lousy 41 😫

And I'm now losing the plot. Twice today for no apparent reason I felt severely nauseated and it went away within ten minutes each time. Obviously I didn't imagine it as it was very strong, but now all the "no symptom spotting" has gone out the window.
