Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@ALeigh - yes I think head to the docs. Did you have a photo to share?
@bunhead34 - good luck, hope you get a quick appointment! Smile
I also found myself counting and thinking 'oh a May birthday would be lovely wouldn't it?', then scolding myself for getting my hopes up! Baby could arrive xmas day and I'd be over the moon at this point haha

RosettaR · 16/08/2019 13:49

@Mrs71 no it wasn't painful, I just didnt like the idea of it really. I think I'm just super squeamish. The way I felt afterwards made me think there is something in it though.

AF is properly here now and I feel miserable. I always feel so hopeless at this time of month, like if it didn't happen this month, why would it happen next month or any other month.

ALeigh · 16/08/2019 14:34

I have been referred to a fertility clinic, I have got to have a test done in my overies to make sure I’m releasing an egg. My husband has had a sperm count test done and it’s really low :(
Every time we look at a negative pregnancy test it’s devastating.

starkid · 16/08/2019 14:58

@ALeigh - aw I'm sorry to hear this, but at least things are getting going now and can see what's up and start ticking boxes off xx

Mrs71 · 16/08/2019 17:37

@bunhead34 thank you! I'm looking forward to it. Hope your appointment comes through quickly.

@RosettaR I know how your feeling I get that every cycle AF arrives and as the cycle goes on I start to feel a bit better. It will happen just think you're one month closer to it happening.

bunhead34 · 16/08/2019 20:12

Is anyone using cheapie OPKs?
I'm using them for the first time (cant spend on the digital anymore 😭) but I'm just getting negatives, no hint of a line! Even tho I'm due to ovulate tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm doing them after work, around 7pm, with at least a 2hour hold. Am I doing it wrong?

I think I used to do the digitals with fmu, but on these it says not to 🤷🏼‍♀️

starkid · 16/08/2019 21:22

I use them - usually do them twice a day during my predicted fertile week, at around 3pm and 7pm :)
They usually work, although sometimes I miss the positive/don't get a chance to do the evening test, but will have a nearly-positive right before, then the next day definitely-negative. Then I test for another day or two to be sure, and my regular luteal phase length confirms it was when I thought it was.

KatBeCool · 16/08/2019 21:31

@bunhead34 I used those, you won't second guess a positive, it'll be obvious. I used them twice a day until I saw it get 50: dark and then three times a day until positive. And positive always happened either midday or before bed, never in the morning.

Had my ultrasound today! Right ovary grew two nice size follicles, 16mm and 18mm. A few 10mm and smaller on the left side. They said my lining is a bit thin so they want me on Estradiol asap. But I'm injecting my trigger tomorrow and IUI is Monday morning!!!! This is happening so fast!

bunhead34 · 17/08/2019 09:03

@KatBeCool I did one this morning with fmu and it was almost positive, should that just be ignored?
I'll do one later too! Xx

bunhead34 · 17/08/2019 09:04

@KatBeCool sounds like your ultrasound went well!
Good luck with the injection today 💪🏽

starkid · 17/08/2019 09:26

@KatBeCool - sound like it's all going pretty positively :)

BewilderedBee · 17/08/2019 09:46

@bunhead34 I use the cheapies often, I tend to use them for longer periods in my cycle - test twice a day, usually lunch time and 5.30, 6ish. I also buy digital clear blue and when I feel I am around my usual ovulation time or the line is getting darker on the cheapies, I use the digital to confirm! So may only use 4 digitals during one cycle! Worked for me
The last 2 months and it's just helped with the cost of the digital!

Mrs71 · 17/08/2019 11:12

@bunhead34 the clear blue digital ones I use with fmu too. They say that on the packet the cheapie ones say not to use with FMU.

@KatBeCool oh wow! How quick has that come around. Best of luck. 💕
I had a phone call from my consultant yesterday the second lot of blood tests I had done confirmed for her that my thyroid is over active! She said she's starting me on a low dosage of meds. She's posting the prescription through the post. She told me to stop ttc as they want to sort the Thyroid side out first but I'm not going too as I believe some people fall pregnant without them even knowing they have thyroid problems. She said the meds safe to take whilst pregnant.

KatBeCool · 17/08/2019 13:14

@Mrs71 do you know what meds she's giving you? I'm sure you'll see the results very quickly. Is she scheduling a retest?

RosettaR · 17/08/2019 15:47

@bunhead34 I'm using opks with fmu now, I found it hard to get a positive any other time of day as I tend to drink quite a lot of water. The issue with fmu apparently is that you might not catch the first day, as LH often doesn't start to rise until the mid morning. So your positive might be a day later than if you tested later in the morning or afternoon.

@KatBeCool I'm glad your scan went well, I can't believe how fast things are moving for you!

@Mrs71 that's great you're diagnosed and getting some help. That might be the boost you need to get a bfp!

bunhead34 · 17/08/2019 16:28

@RosettaR thanks! I think that's my problem too - I drink a lot of water and herbal tea! Think I'll just see how FMU goes.

PineappleC · 18/08/2019 08:52

Thanks @RosettaR and @KatBeCool I haven't looked into what a hycosy involves yet, and on your advice I won't! You're totally right that stressing about it makes the pain so much worse, and would rather be relaxed!

@FlapJackered I haven't booked it yet. I phoned on cd1 and they said that because it's school holidays there was a lack of appts and I would have had to wait 3 weeks (with no sex in between) so I'm going to go next month instead. I've got my pelvic ultrasound on Tues so that might give some initial answers 🤞🤞

@Katbecool I have all my fingers crossed for you, it does seem to have come round really quickly

PineappleC · 18/08/2019 08:53

@FlapJackered almost time for your appt too now, wishing you all the luck that you get some answers 😊

Unicorn9 · 18/08/2019 09:02

Hi Ladies
Could I join ur thread plse? I am 40 and TTC a second for a year now. I’ve had two miscarriages in the last year, the last three months ago and am feeling really despondent. I had underactive thyroid but conceived twice before but lost them. One on thyroid meds and one off. Been to fertility testing too recently as desperate. They found no issues:-( AF due tomorrow and first response tests BFN again. Just want to cry. Age us against me and just desperate for a child...

Unicorn9 · 18/08/2019 09:11

BroodyAF I just wanted to say I had my DD at 37! I had a miscarriage before but then still conceived after. 37 is still really perfectly ok and possible to fall pregnant...

KatBeCool · 18/08/2019 09:15

@Unicorn9 don't give up yet, especially if your amh and FSH are normal. Have you done all the fertility tests? Blood tests, HSG, ultrasound? Depending on outcomes, they start treatment very quickly. I am 40, and doing my first IUI on Monday.

@PineappleC thank you!

Trigger shot done! Going to poas in a few hours just to see a positive test. DH said he doesn't want to. I know it's fake positive but I just want to see it.

I have to say one thing, if you are like me and scared of needles.. If you're too skinny, grow some belly fat! Those stomach injections won't be fun at all if there's no fat. I used to be super thin, I'm incredibly glad I gained a bit of weight or I wouldn't be able to do any of those injections myself.

starkid · 18/08/2019 09:33

@KatBeCool - when I was very ill and needing to do the stomach injections for other reasons, I weighed around 5 stone.... it wasn't fun! Good shout getting a bit of jelly to make it easier Shock
@PineappleC - good luck for your ultrasound, it's pretty cool if they talk you through what's on the screen Smile

I'm due to ovulate tomorrow according to my app, so will be peeing on internet cheapie's all day today haha, not that I feel positive each cycle anymore, but always nice to know you're trying.

Want to hear something embarrassing? I was visiting someone's house yesterday afternoon/evening for a big friend gathering, so took my 'pee receptacle' with me to sneak off and do an opk... Then went home and realised in the car left my empty-but-not-cleaned pot in the sink!! Blush Blush I'm so ashamed... god knows what they thought, but they likely guessed it was me as I took my bag in with me, not sly! Shock So yeah, hope that horrifying story brightens someones morning Grin and let it be a warning haha!

Unicorn9 · 18/08/2019 10:26

I am 40 but as have one DD they won’t do IVF so will need to pay. My AMH was 7.6 I think and everything else they said looked fine. My tsh was 1.5 last test and waiting on other Nhs tests. Was meant to have a (spelling?!?) but had my AF so didn’t do it.

Unicorn9 · 18/08/2019 10:28

starkid sure u could explain your pot if need be:-) how embarrassing for you though! I was so convinced this month I was pregnant I told my husband we had to test and it would be positive blah blah and felt so embarrassed when it was negative. Been testing each day cos don’t believe it but it’s been negative each day and AF due tomorrow. I know I should be grateful I have a DD but I really would like a second and age is now an issue:-(

starkid · 18/08/2019 10:56

Don't really want to have to explain to 20 odd people, some who I don't really know, why I was peeing in a pot at their house Blush no one's mentioned it yet but we left early so someone would have found it... hopefully they just chucked it in the bin and didn't question it!
If forced, I would give a vague answer about needing to do it for medical reasons Wink
