Spring is in the air and it's time for a new thread!

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping we get some spring BFP luck for all of us!! 🍀🐣🍀🐣

That's similar to how I'm feeling @Russkispy, I genuinely feel quite relaxed and calm which is a pleasant surprise given how anxious I was when we were ttc. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

CNizzle · 02/03/2019 10:19

Hi all! Checking into the new thread! Thanks @bambionice80, did I see you still had high temps...?
@Russkispy glad to hear everything is progressing as planned, fingers crossed.
@QuantumGirl good luck for your docs appointment on monday.
@Idontwanttobe40 hi, welcome! I turned 39 2 weeks ago, and I'm with you on the username. Good luck and keep us up to date.

I'm 1 week past my laporoscopy, belly button still sore & healing, but otherwise feel fine. CD16, did a cheap ppl last night and it had 2 lines, but not yet positive. Just done one this morning and I've got a blazing positive! Possibly the darkest ever. The lap hasn't affected my ovulation day from usual, I thought with a the fiddling about it might have mucked my cycle up.

Happy weekend ladies!

Blondcat · 02/03/2019 10:38

@quantumgirl I used the wilko cheapie they are not massively sensitive like frer but not too bad. Goodluck with the docs appointment

Carley32 · 02/03/2019 12:35

@Amanda81 don’t get me started on the username. It’s forever changing (not by choice lol). I am cd6 and very irregular so no idea really, but it has become less than 40. Hoping my body is regulating after the heavier af.

How’s ttw going? Keeping busy?

Great that you are sounding calm and positive @russkispy.

Hope you get some answers soon @QuantumGIrl. You have more patience than me.

@Blondecat glad your on the mend 💐.

We are thinking of paying for a private consultation but torn on weather to wait 1 more month, just to see if anything happens after a closer to ‘normal’ af. 🤔.

Pinkywoo · 02/03/2019 13:57

Hi everyone, sorry for the radio silence I've spent most of the last 24 hours in hospital with suspected ectopic. Fortunately (?) it turned out to be a ruptured cyst causing all the pain, and implantation spotting, and I got to see the baby and it's heartbeat!

CNizzle · 02/03/2019 14:09

Oh @pinkywoo how stressful for you. Relief for the outcome thankfully. Take care x

Catconfusion · 02/03/2019 14:11

I've been thinking of you @Pinkywoo and hoping all ok. So pleased you got to see baby and heartbeat. So lovely to read good news. I hope the cyst pain has subsided and you can now get some rest! X

VenusStarr · 02/03/2019 15:10

Glad to hear all is well with your baby @Pinkywoo, sorry to hear about the ruptured cyst though! Hope you're resting at home now. How many weeks are you now?

Pinkywoo · 02/03/2019 19:18

Thanks, I've got the weekend off work to rest and we're having a nice curry tonight. I'm six weeks now @VenusStarr, and just relieved everything's ok Smile

Weathergirl1 · 02/03/2019 22:01

Oh no @PinkyWoo - glad it turned out ok, but that is a good reminder that the BFP is only the first hurdle and that there's a load of further stress that might happen along the way 💐

@CNizzle ah you're about month behind me - also not enjoying the 39... 😭

@QuantumGirl good luck for the doctors too!

Not much to update here, CD7 so approaching FW. The pressed I ordered has arrived this morning (thankfully in covert packaging as the in-laws are visiting this weekend!) And I'm a bit 😱 at the applicators - anyone have any tips? It looks like an awful lot of lube to go in the applicator!

CNizzle · 02/03/2019 23:34

@Weathergirl1 All I'll say is a little goes a long way! I read the scale the wrong way round the first time (god knows how!!!)... chaos ensued!
🤣🤣

PixieN · 03/03/2019 08:40

Hi Ladies, just checking in. Thanks for the new thread @BambiOnIce - hope you @VenusStarr & @Beverleymarsh are having a lovely weekend away.

Welcome to the thread @Idontwanttobe40 and @Catconfusion. Really sorry to hear about your missed miscarriage Catconfusion that sounds really difficult 💐

Sorry to hear about the ruptured cyst @Pinkywoo - but relieved to hear that all is o.k and you heard baby’s heartbeat 💕

Good luck for your appointment on Monday @QuantumGirl 🤞

Agreed with CNizzle that less is definitely more on the preseed front. I would use half the amount they recommend and see how you go @Weathergirl1 😁

I’m due AF in 6 days - not hopeful for a bfp this month. Only managed to dtd once in fw. Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend. I’m meeting a mate for breakfast soon so looking forward to something yummy 😋

birdbybird · 03/03/2019 08:45

Thanks for the new thread @BambiOnIce80

@Pinkywoo good to hear all ok.

@Weathergirl1 and @CNizzle - what cycle are you both on?

I was contemplating a FRER but I don't think any point as am today dpo12 and temperature has dipped so AF should arrive in a couple of days. Then onto Cycle 6.

Ferii · 03/03/2019 08:59

Hi everyone!

I'm 35 and TTC our first, came off contraception in November 2018 and on cycle 4. I also have hypothyroism so wondering if that will impact things a bit. Not sure if I'm ovulating but I've got some ovulation tests so will try them out in a few days time.

Weathergirl1 · 03/03/2019 09:14

🤣🤣🤣🤣 about the less is more comments! We decided to just use a small blob from the tube this morning rather than bothering with the applicators. In-laws are staying in the room above our bedroom so we had to be very quiet 🤫🤣

@birdbybird just started Cycle 3 here

Catconfusion · 03/03/2019 09:41

Thanks @PixieN it was a very difficult experience to go through but we're feeling much better. My body has started to ovulate and we're trying again so hopefully the outcome of our first pregnancy was just bad luck! X

Carley32 · 03/03/2019 10:13

@pinkywoo. Sorry to hear about the cyst but glad you got to know that all is ok x

Carley32 · 03/03/2019 10:14

Hi @Ferii 👋

BambiOnIce80 · 03/03/2019 11:37

Well hello Ladies 👋 I'm back in the land of data and clearly have much to catch up on!

So sorry you had a scary time of it @Pinkywoo 💐 Must have been fantastic to see the baby for the first time though.x

It only takes 1 time @PixieN, so fingers-crossed you're not out 🤞🏻

Agree with everyone else @Weathergirl1 - a little really does go a long way 😄 I tend to use between 2-3ml and pop it in before proceedings get going 😬 DP is finding FW stress inducing enough, so I think a pit stop in the middle of DTD for me to whip out a tube and a syringe might be a bridge too far! 🙈

Sorry to hear your temp has dropped @birdbybird - mine did the same on Friday (as expected, to be fair 🙄) and AF rocked up 4 hours later 😏 Is it a big drop or a little one? Fingers-crossed it's a little one and it'll go back up tomorrow 🤞🏻

How's your OPK's coming @CNizzle? Hope the lap has worked some magic and this month will be your month 🍀🍀🍀

Good luck to you too @Russkispy with your IVF cycle 🍀🍀🍀

How long is it until your year off the pill is up @Carley32? I can understand considering the private consult (we're still toying with the private IVF ourselves)- how quickly would the private guys see you? If it's several months before the NHS will see you, then I'd probably be tempted (I'm getting pretty fed up with all the waiting around myself 😔). That said, I'd want guarantees that they could provide all investigations (bloods and scans for you and SA for DP) within 2 months - otherwise you're throwing money at something that you can get free within the NHS. As always, please feel free to totally disregard my two pence - it is but my musings!x

Welcome @Ferii and @Idontwanttobe40 (also love the name - might change mine to idontwannabe39, which is rapidly approaching!).

So. CD3 here and despite DP being on sex strike this month, I've decided I'm still going to take the soy isoflavones for the next 5 days 💊 My logic being he broke the strike 3 days after announcing it, so there may be other exceptions (I'm still not telling him when FW is this month though, as agreed)... Plus I want to see if the awesome endorphins and EWCM are reproducible! 🤓

Can I join this thread. I'm 39 and we are ttc after 4 miscarriages following years of ivf.

We are hoping to start another ivf cycle soon.

We have unexplained infertility.

BambiOnIce80 · 03/03/2019 11:57

You're very welcome to join us @findingmyfeet12 👋 Sounds like your road so far has been a long and tough one - you sound like a super strong lady 🙂 I tried with my ex for just under 4 years and we also got labelled with primary unexplained infertility (our marriage ended just as we got the go ahead for assisted conception). Been TTC for a year now with DP and needless to say it's looking like I'm still in the unexplained infertility bracket 🙄 Have to wait at least another year for IVF on the NHS (my previous TTC history doesn't count) and we're umming and ahhhing about whether to go self-funded or not... your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, if you wouldn't mind?!

I hope this round of IVF for you is the one.x

findingmyfeet12 · 03/03/2019 12:04

Thanks Bambi I can only speak for myself but for us time is of the essence.

I don't have age only side and I'm not prepared to wait for treatment. However, we have been able to afford treatment (we have sacrificed holidays and luxuries etc) and my parents are paying for our next ivf. To be honest I think my parents and siblings will probably find my next three attempts (if I need them).

It depends on finances. I wouldn't get into debt but I'm prepared to live frugally and take handouts from my family because I know they can afford it and would be cross if I refused.

Even a months delay at 39 is upsetting.

birdbybird · 03/03/2019 17:33

@BambiOnIce80 - My temp dipped from 36.5 two days ago, to 36.4 yesterday to 36.2 today. So definitely on the way. :-/

birdbybird · 03/03/2019 17:33

Hi @findingmyfeet12 - sorry to hear of your IVF journey so far.

Carley32 · 03/03/2019 18:54

Hi @BambiOnIce80. How was your weekend away? Please keep us updated on the soy things 😊.

It will be a year in May. I rang yesterday, they said it was £150 for a consultation which includes a semen analysis and an internal exam. Bloods etc are an extra cost. And they can book me in in the next 1 to 2 weeks. I said I would think about it. But think we may go ahead to be honest. I know it would be a long road and expense after but having to wait a month for a doctors appointment just for a chat to see what’s next has concerned me slightly. Although still toying with the idea of giving it one more month because of the change in af 🤔.
God please always feel free give your 2 pence. It’s so nice to chat about it and hear every opinion there is. Theses decisions are just so big.

Hi @findingmyfeet12 sorry to hear your story, it sounds like you really have been through it. I hope you get your miracle this time around.
